Station Inn in Gwynedd

Used this while waiting to go on a steam trip. Plenty of food variety, hot and cold, all cooked fresh. Nice tables outside on platform or eat inside. Excellent prices. Can be used independently of going on train trips.

Called in on the off chance they were showing football. They were and gave my wife and I the choice of game. Frendly locals and staff and great beer. Highly recommend calling in to the inn.

Everyone here speaks Welsh, so don't be surprised if you're the only one not understanding what's going on. Also, spontaneous karaoke and darts tournaments may break out while you're there. They were not serving food of any kind while I was there; it was drinks only. They didn't like people bringing in food from outside, though. Beer selection is what you'd expect; two taps of Fosters, three kinds of Carling, a few ciders, and other decent stuff. Great cheap place to get a drink while waiting for a train or staying trackside for the night.

Lovely pub hidden away at the end of Porthmadog, right by the station. Great views over the estuary sitting outside, with the occasional steam train going by. Great barman as well!

We went in here as the kids loved the trains but we should have only had a drink, they were charging restaurant prices for poor quality food, the pizza's were the frozen type over cooked on one side and the other meals were along a similar vein, no one in our party of 10 had a good thing to say about the food.

Had about an hour to kill before the arrival of our train South, so was pleasantly surprised to find this homely little pub right on the station platform, Purchased our drinks, (lovely pint of Guinness!) and sat outside in the lovely little garden behind the station, Very friendly staff.

Called in on a cold, wet evening and were pleased with the welcome we received. Nice choice of ales and wine served from individual bottles, NOT from large bottles which have been opened days before! Great to see. Olde-worlde charming place to sit.

As soon as we entered the place it’s a cosy pub the locals are friendly and there’s a good selection of ales an snacks definitely go back full of character...

Called in after we got off the train. Good beer. Nice use of the old waiting rooms. Nice little beer garden at the back.

Popped in for a pint of Guiness... it was warm and tasted horrible. My son had a pint of bitter... again this was warm and tasted rancid. Left without drinking. I suggest the tubes and pipes need cleaning and rinsing properly.. we wont return.

What a wonderful friendly and welcoming pub, it doesn't look like a pub at all but an excellent welcome, treats for the dog and a friendly barmaid who gave my dog some ham from her sandwich. We'll definitely be back !

My wife and I called at The Station Inn while exploring Porthmadog. There are two bar rooms and you go onto the platform and back in to move from one to the other. There are a lot of cask beers here, plus one one keg (a local Purple Moose). The mostly male clientele seem like a family, effing and blinding to a football match shown on big screen TVs. The effing did not moderate when a woman / my wife was present. We probably won’t call here again.

Had lunch here whilst enjoying a ride on the railway. It was very good and served within a reasonable timescale bearing in mind it was quite busy. A good choice of menu.

Ordered cheesburgers which were taseless in a dry bun and slice of cheese like paper. Chips frozen and dry. Woudl not return.

We did not eat because of very large party booking, but enjoyed a couple of beers as we passed through.

Chilled pub with a pool table. We went here after going on the Welsh highland railway. My other half loves trains and loved that it was on a train platform.

Excellent service and food value for money. The staff were freindly and very helpful. Nice to have a bar there too

Had a nice hour waiting for my train home. Spotlessly clean and well cared for railway station tavern with nicely kept beers. I noticed a few good looking Ham and cheese rolls going out and decided to have one. Nice fresh bread and good ham and cheese. The landlady has run the Inn for 50 years and it is a credit to her.

Due to our train being cancelled we took refuge in this pub on platform 1. Obviously popular with locals and a friendly, warm welcome. A joy to find a choice of 3 real ales as compensation for loosing our train. Didn't see or try any food so cannot rate the catering. I bet it is popular with travellers coming for a drink and getting home by train so no driving.

This is not Spooners!. Spooners is the pub on the steam railway station.........this is the pub on the main railway station. A friendly local bar with some good ales. Pity it is not open when catching the morning train.........or then again I might just miss my train.

Stumbled across this local pub while waiting for our wash and fold service (which was rather expensive - a tip - make sure you have a full load of washing). One can only say the Pub on the Platform was unique and the locals we exactly what you would expect in the Welsh Highlands. Friendly and welcoming. But we enjoyed our time here.

Spooners is a convenient place to while away the time between trains for a meal or a drink (or both) in comfortable surroundings. Good range of food and drinks at reasonable prices.

Coffee with a view of the mountains & beautiful Porthmadog estuary. The excitement of heritage steam trains pulling in and out of the railway station. Nice coffee. Traditional welsh cakes on offer. Vegan options and soya milk would have completed a grand experience, but even with one of the best vegan suply shops in the UK (Vegusto) just over the road, we could not spot anything to eat at this beautiful cafe & had to content ourselves with black coffee. Come on...pop over the road & buy a box of vegiburgers to keep in the freezer!

Food really good here also real ales for sale friendly staff very clean a good view of the station I would recommend this restaurant to anyone and families

Part of the Railway Station.Food was ok,served quickly by pleasant staff.Has a stocked bar,ideal if your intention is to go on the train trip or otherwise.Car parks close by.

This pub is converted from the station buildings. I only saw it because I was going for a train. A lovely friendly working class pub. I was made to feel very welcome as was my dog. It was mainly locals when I visited many of whom were happy to chat. Made waiting for a train enjoyable

It was quite a long drive in very wet weather to get to this recommended restaurant, but it was worth the effort. We had starters of fishcakes and soup which was really tasty. Then I had a beautiful bit of Welsh Lamb for main and my partner had chicken with bacon and leek with cream sauce, both of which were as good as the first course. We were welcomed into the restaurant which was traditional and the Hobgoblin Gold beer tasted fantastic. The only slight negative point was that we had to wipe our own table clean from the previous occupants - which as I say is a very slight negative and didn't detract from the excellent dining experience.

Thought this would be great as its at the station , but NO, unfriendly staff, dirty carpets and walls, and the ladies toilets were covered in flies......

We enjoyed a cool drink on the hottest day of the year. We opted to sit inside where one end is a bar with a railway theme and the other is cafe style. The staff are chatty and polite and the atmosphere is relaxed.

Just popped in for a quick lunchtime snack of a fresh sandwich washed down with some excellent real ale and I wasn't disappointed. A bit quiet as no trains passing at the time.

Un restaurante comun donde comer si se visita Porthmadog. Comidas no muy variadas y de mediana calidad

Not a lot of choice but enjoyed what we had. Gets very busy especially when the train comes in? But difficult to park.
