Tasty fish, chips and scampi with great views. Huge portions and fast service. If I had one criticism it would be to have proper cutlery, not small take out wooden ones for dining in.

This restaurant is NOT vegetarian friendly as described including on their menu! There is also very poor allergen practice, I have a seafood allergy, found scampi in the food (chips) to be told that it all goes in the same vat including the chips. It does say on the menu that some food is cooked in the same vat, but it also describes the non meat food as Vegetarian friendly, so we assumed that this wasn’t cooked in the same vats! My partners food was also burnt to a crisp and really unpleasant! We will not be coming back here.

It was a lovely place to eat, we were after some seaside fish and chips and our son found this place with his fiancé and we joined them. The place did not have the best entrance as it looked like a side access entry on the pier but the actual place was immaculate. The staff were nice and pleasant and well presented. Food was absolutely excellent and tasted lovely, the place looks a lot different from previous reviews and has probably undergone extensive refurb as it is now like a sports bar. I would say to ignore previous reviews and give this place a try now as it is nothing like the previous reviews. The whole place was clean and shiny (even the toilets were thoroughly clean) and good choices of bar food for adults and children which are served well and quite quickly. And yes they have wooden knives and forks but they are good ones.

Looking from outside doesn't seem to be anything special, could do with a refurb. Until you get inside, several pool tables, table tennis, and ample seating areas where you can enjoy the amazing fish and chips they offer on a small but well thought of menu. We gathered for a family meal and my parents were 1 hour south and we were 1 hour north so decided to meet and have lunch. What an experience and food was amazing. Best fish and chips around. The curry sauce to die for and all complimented with tartar sauce.

Visited here tonight with my mum, two sons and a well behaved jack Russell. During the meal our dog sat beautifully without a sound. However when she barked twice at a seagull through the window we were told by a very rude member of staff to control our dog as it was disturbing other diners. When questioned if anyone had actually complained the answer was no!!! Chips were awful and no vegetarian options. Waste of money and upsetting for the whole family to be spoken to in such a rude way. Not returning. If dogs are not allowed to make a noise in there then don't allow them in at all!!!

The chef at the Pier Brasserie is ex Harbourmaster, Gwesty Cymru and Pysgoty - thank goodness we still have him in Aberystwyth! A really fantastic meal - fabulous cod on crushed potatoes and a luscious sauce, and crab linguine for my husband. Why choose meat when he's such a talented fish chef?Lovely, efficient and chatty waitress too!Disappointingly quiet in these Covid times but therefore felt absolutely safe. We chose this restaurant based on trip adviser comments and we are so glad we did. The decor is so peaceful and in keeping with the views out to sea; the staff were helpful and checked gluten free details for me. The food was really good, home cooked fare. Simple but very tasty. There was a pudding other than fruit salad or brownie and simple changes to it meant I felt like a normal diner rather than the exception. Can’t recommend this place enough.

Three arrived for early Sunday evening meal. Meeted and greeted by charming Maitre d', well briefed on COVID stuff, and directed to allocated seating. Menus are disposable, not just wipe clean and reuse. Floors and tables very clean. Chose roasts from the Lunch Menu, very good and reasonably priced. Some of the Evening Menu looked pricey for what it was. Wonderful views over the sea, this place, unlike some others manages to maintain a cosy atmosphere despite current restrictions. Even now, dining out should be more of an experience than dining at home, and this achieves it.

Spent a week in this part of Wales and struggled to find food I was happy with. Found this place and was so glad I did. Went for late lunch/early dinner and was so glad I did. Although it was nearly empty I was greeted but a very pleasant man who was barman/front of house, and was made to feel very welcome. Very hungry so had a starter and a main. Which were both absolutely beautiful. Well presented and tasted great. Add this to the exceptional service and reasonable prices I would have no hesitation in recommending this place and I will certainly go again if I’m in the area.

Now that Pawel is chef the location and the food are aligned. The restaurant had a stunning view over Cardigan Bay and across the water to the main seafront in Aberystwyth and the menu, although small, is all freshly prepared and incredibly good. My husband and I had dinner there. We were welcomed by Lowri who is very friendly. The location is absolutely stunning and the food is delicious. We shared lamb koftas as a starter and they were the best we've ever had. Not only were they tasty, but incredibly juicy. The seasoning of the salad was very subtil and delicious. My husband took a coconut curry and I had, a steak. Again, both incredibly delicious and perfectly cooked. Portions are generous too. Pavel, the chef who we congratulated before leaving, clearly is passionate about his job and that is why, it is so good. We would have loved to mention the kindness and professionalism of the young waitress who attended us, but, we didn't get her name (sorry). Overall, a great experience. Thank you to all.

The social distancing arrangements are excellent with fake privet hedging separating tables. We had plenty of privacy and felt very safe. The food was very good. We both thoroughly enjoyed our starters, although they were of very different portion sizes. They were happy to double up a starter of Moules Mariniere as my main course. The only downside was that there weren’t enough serving staff to manage the number of diners. Only three waitresses had to manage taking orders, making and serving drinks as well as serving the food. This inevitably resulted in long waits.

We went as a family party of 8. 6 adults and 2 children. Waiter took order for food and drinks but that was the last bit of decent service we received. The starters arrived and were consumed and some the dishes were cleared and then the main courses arrived with still some starter dishes left on the table. Halfway through my main course I managed to get a waitress to remove the remains of the starter course. Once we finished our main course then I managed to get most of the dishes cleared except one was left. Eventually I managed to get that dish removed after waiting about 20 minutes. I asked for the dessert menu but by the time the waitress returned to ask for orders we decided we had had enough of the lack of service and asked for the bill. The restaurant will probably remember us as the bill was £220 and we didn't leave a tip.It is a pity that the appalling service ruined our meal though as the food was good though expensive.

Service for starter and main was great, food was very good in my mind although my husband said his steak was cooked really well in ‘most’ places. Booked in after reading many positive reviews thinking we’d be massively impressed. To start we were ignored when we arrived and weren’t too sure where to even be seen in to our table. The restaurant was extremely busy so we didn’t mind too much. We ordered drinks which took a very long time to come due to the lack of staff and how busy it was. We ordered food and had some questions about allergies which our waitress went and got the answers too which was good. When our mains came no one came to ask how our food was and there was an issue with a meal which left a member of our party not eating their food. We waited a while and tried to catch the managers attention a few times to ask for our bill and discuss our concerns which she put her head down. She then sent a waitress over who for the duration of the time we were in there she was on the bar. The poor girl then had to deal with our complaint which she did in the best was she possibly could but you could see on her face how mortified she was to be doing this. The manager never came over to go through anything or offer her apologies she just took our starters off our bill. Which when our complaint was about the main meals it is greatly disappointing that we had to pay for that and received free starters that were actually very nice. So for all of us to not eat much of our mains we had to pay £75. This is just a view of our evening and let me make you aware the poor waitresses are not to fault in any of our experience. Our issue is with the extremely rude manager that was on shift that evening. We understand it’s the holidays and a busy period but maybe you need to look in to managing your online booking system better and making sure you have the correct amount of staff for busier periods rather than barking orders at your staff where diners can hear everything you’re saying. Found it absolutely disgusting the way she felt she could talk to these poor girls just trying to do their best. We were not the only people to discuss our disappointment this evening. August 20th

I can't speak highly enough of our experience....We went out for an early-evening birthday meal on the day before Valentine's, and we had the place to ourselves. It felt cosy despite its size; so we had a perfect table overlooking the main beach, and despite a severe gale blowing there was not the slightest draught. The waitress was exemplary in her friendliness, unobtrusive attention, and willingness to help; the food arrived promptly and was immaculately presented. The two starters were excellent... better than the equivalent at some other highly rated restaurants in Aberystwyth. The mains were more than ample in quantity, obviously very freshly cooked and tasty. The house red wine (Merlot) was okay. Even the toilets were excellent! It is very unjust that this restaurant seems less patronised than others...maybe because of its obscure location tucked away behind the amusement arcades? The newish decor might not be to everyone's taste, but is inoffensive. A great asset to the town (please, not to be lost) and credit to the staff!

My wife and I have eaten here many times over the past few years and we are always greeted with a smile from genuinely nice people and have enjoyed great food. However, we ate here recently and the standard of food has changed... dramatically....and not for the better. We ordered 2 portions of fish and chips. The fish was inedible - raw batter and swimming in grease. Truly disgusting!I complained - the chef apologized. We thought it must have just been a one-off so we decided to try the desserts.I chose Sticky Toffee Pudding with Custard. It came out cold - we complained again. The pudding was returned to me - but it had been microwaved too long and the base of the pudding was crispy...!! The staff were incredibly apologetic but by that stage, I'd given up.We were not alone complaining about the food that day. There were at least 2 other tables close to us that had to return food to the kitchen. We will not eat there again.

The boss then spotted us and showed us to a table and then one of the staff brought menus but could not take a drinks order. After a few minutes the boss came back to take the order for both food and drink. The food arrived fairly quickly my steak was cooked correctly but was rather tough the chips looked as if they had been reheated. When we had finished there was quite a delay before the plates were cleared we were not asked if we wanted more drinks or deserts.

We came upon this place by accident, assuming it was just an extension of the bar area downstairs. How wrong we were. I don’t know where they have got their staff and chefs from and who has trained them, but boy have they got it right! The gentleman who served us would not be out of place in the The Savoy in London. So courteous and friendly. We weren’t that hungry so, between the 3 of us, had the 2 pizzas and bottle of wine deal for £25 and the liver pate. The pizzas were perfectly cooked and the pate and accompaniments were just delicious. All the food we could see being served looked amazing; the fajitas on the next table looked superb, and that couple were saying how delicious their meals were and wanted the kitchen staff to be advised. For somewhere that you could possibly have quite low expectations of, this is such a welcome surprise. Also, I’m sure if you book in advance, and get a window seat and watch the sun go down, there could be nowhere better. This is not the prettiest venue, but the food and staff make this so unimportant. Try it, then try it again. This is a good place to go, with staff who know how to treat you.

Went to the Royal Pier on the off chance. It was my parents 50th Wedding Anniversary and the restaurant, with its lovely view of the sea, looked ideal. Were seated and served the starter very quickly. 1 hour 20 minutes and 3 times of asking for the main we left. A young waitress had been asked twice where our main was and she 'you need to speak to the manager as he is not listening to me'. When we asked the head waiter about our food he sarcastically said it will be 3 minutes 4 tops. 10 minutes later we said we wanted to pay for what we had been served. The same head waiter said a half hearted sorry and explained they were busy. We pointed out that 3 tables came in and had left the time we waited for our main meals. No offer was made for a free drink or discount on what we already had as a way of an apology. For drinks and 2 starters at £28 I would not recommend it be returning. Such a shame as the location of the restaurant is perfect. Another party, celebrating an engagement, were also complaining as we left.

We chose this restaurant for dinner on the basis that they had a stannah stairlift to make it easy for my infirm father in law to get in and out. We booked the day before so that we could have the choice dual aspect corner window table overlooking the sea. It started off well with a very pleasant young man from the bar coming down and operating the lift for the FIL. Then the problems started. First they'd given the table we booked to another party. Then the waitress got our drinks order wrong (she was very pleasant but not very good at her job). We had pate starters, the pate was very nice and a generous amount, but accompanied by three small slices of warmed up baguette and a small amount of sad undressed salad. My wife's main was the glamorgan crumble. This was so overcooked that about a quarter of it was so hard that she couldn't break it up with the knife and fork never mind eat it. My "pizza diavola" was a cheap Margarita pizza with seven pieces of pepperoni on it and no discernible spicing. It was dominated by a quarter inch thick layer of cheap tasteless cheese which quickly began to congeal into an unappetising rubbery crust. I ate one slice and gave it up. To be fair the father in laws curry of the day (a bought in chicken jalfrezi) was fine and he ate all of it. We complained to the waiter and my pizza was taken off the bill though my wife was adjudged to have eaten enough of her crumble for this not to be appropriate. To top things of the lift had broken down at the top so we had to help the father in law down the steep steps back to the street. One to avoid at all costs.

We waited nearly twenty minutes for our order to be taken then a further 30 minutes for the drinks and had to ask several times. The food arrived and can best be described as average. With better organisation, management and staff training I'm 100% certain that our experience would have been completely different. The surroundings are perfect and the decor is good. Such a shame.

What a beautiful setting to have an evening meal and watch the sun set. Attended for a group meal had the place to our selves for private function. Sadly it took forever to get our starter which was by far the best of the courses (soup). The beef was advertised with Yorkshire puddings. No Yorkshire’s in sight! Not enough meat. Pudding came no cream. Brownie was cold. Then when everyone was nearly done cream appeared !

As a couple and sometimes with family we eat out most weekends either in Borth or Aberystwyth,as we were in Aber we thought we would try upstairs in the Pier .Nice setting ,clean and tidy ,the service was pleasant and efficient ,We had a roast which was dreadful ,I couldn't eat mine ,my husband did eat his as he was starving , the veg seemed to me that it could have been frozen or tinned and well overcooked ,it was just a load of soft mush ,the roast potatoes were bland and certainly under roasted ,mash potato could have been out of a packet there was a distinctive taste of margarine in it ,all in all the only tasty part of the meal was the mustard which I had put on the side of my plate. When asked if everything was okay with the meal I had to say it wasn't very good and why,the young waiter was very apologetic and asked if he should speak to the chef and change the veg to which at this point I just wanted to get out of there . How in this day and age with such competition around them can any restaurant serve up food like that is beyond my imagination .The manager offered me £3 discount ,we didn't take it,just paid and left never to go back again..I have to add that the young waiter was very good at his job and the service he gave didn't match the food ..

This place has managed to turn Sunday Roast vegetables into water through over-boiling. I wasn’t expecting a great dinner, particularly considering the price, but this was distinctly sub-average. It reminded me of a school dinner. Poor.

I found the staff to be lovely. Plates were inexpensive but not large which suits me really well- I prefer quality to quantity. It’s not posh or super smart but a nice place to have a decent lunch. Good Guinness and choice of drinks with pleasant waiter service .

Stumbled across this place as the views are great. The food was surprisingly good. Pier food is often horrid so I wasn’t expecting much but this place is a gem. It was very quite, surprised it wasn’t more popular.

First visit since the change of name and wasn't let down. Although the name may have changed the things that make this an excellent choice for lunch have not. The menu is similar with many old favourites still available, the views haven't changed, and the service led by Emanuel is of course first class. Good sized portions at affordable prices.

We were able to eat in the bar area with our dog. The restaurant was very helpful- allowing us to order and bringing our food downstairs to us in the bar. They were extremely helpful and knowledgeable with my need for gluten free food too.

Called mid afternoon. Unexpectedly warm day so lots of people outside. Two bar staff who were very busy but chearfully coping . Some of the menu food wasn't available but that was more than compensated for with a complimentary free drink. We both had fish and chips with garden peas. The fish was firm and tasty with a lovely light batter. The chips were cooked in clean oil so we're crisp and not greasy and the peas were not overcooked. Not much atmosphere but what can you expect mid afternoon . Pleasantly surprised and very reasonable.

My partner and I were looking for a place to have a Sunday roast while watching the football. Really appreciated that we could order food from the restaurant to the snooker hall down stairs and still got fantastic service from the staff. The bar staff were lovely and friendly and I loved that waiters from the restaurant brought down the food for us and gave us the same experience as eating in a restaurant. Food was ok, but still has a way to go to being something special

Visited with my boyfriend on a Friday evening, the views were incredible, the sun was setting and we could see the much talked about starlings with uninterrupted views, they were mesmerizing. I had the steak and my boyfriend had the carbonara, the steak was cooked perfectly and my boyfriend said his carbonara was the best he'd tasted in a long time. The service was faultless and the staff were very friendly, bubbly and attentive. We will definitely be returning.

My wife and I went here yesterday for a birthday treat just to say the meal was bad was an understatement. The fish was sloppy as was the batter the chips were reheated and we had a spoonful of peas. I have been coming here for years with family but would never ever again. I was constantly going to the toilet all night. If you want to waste your money or have a bad stomach this is a place to go otherwise I wouldn't widely avoid.gone downhill massivly .

We called here for 5 meals. 2 were fine, but the 3 flat iron sizzling steaks were not. The meals arrived and the steaks were not on sizzling platters/plates as expected and the meat was actually cold, not even warm. The waiter explained that we had been served sirloin not sizzling. This was odd as sirloin was not even on the menu. All 3 diners agreed that the meat would be acceptable if it was hot. They were taken away and brought back after about 5 minutes. The other 2 diners had by now nearly finished their meals. The meat was now hot as were the chips, however the other items mushrooms, tomatoes etc were now luke warm at best. We decided to eat up, pay and leave which we did.

Went in 27th with friends, food was ok, but very slow service, not many customers to warrant slow service. Fish and chips and pizza was good, steak came with a very small amount of peppercorn sauce and the fajitas that come out on a sizzling plate were not sizzling. We could hear them sizzling when they were in the kitchen, but when brought out the chicken and veg was dry and cold. It wasn’t awful, but could be better.

Went for carvery. Nothing special. Gravy tasted like browning granules and food wasn't particularly plentiful or tasty. Lamb was super thin slices (thin as deli meat) and even at £9.50 it was an extra pound for a Yorkshire pudding and an extra pound for two stuffing balls (which were pretty tough and had obviously been microwaved). Mash tasted like smash. As a plus the wait staff were attentive and they brought plenty of extra gravy. Save your money though, there are better places.

Came here recently for a meal with friends. There was nothing that particularly jumped out at me on the menu. I ended up having the seafood platter which was meant to contain breaded prawns and salmon pate. When my plate came out, I saw that they had given me smoked salmon instead of salmon pate, and calimari insted of breaded prawns. I was not informed of this change beforehand. Had I been told, I would have ordered something different as I can’t stand calimari, or just not had a starter as the choice of starters was even poorer than the choice of mains. I settled upon a lamb and mint burger for my main. I’m not usually a burger person really, but nothing else really appealed. The burger was ok, but nothing amazing. It came with chips, which were really nice - definitely the best part of the meal. If it’s something special you’re after, I wouldn’t recommend coming here. Fine if your happy with your average pub grub.

Went for an evening meal with family. Decor is non descriptive but clean. Menu is typical pub food. A couple of the items weren’t on the menu which was disappointing. I had Stilton and broccoli soup which was slightly too thick. The scampi was lovely. Best part of this place is the staff who really made us feel welcome. Prices are also very good. I wouldn’t return for a special night but would for a cheeky mid week dinner.

Fish like a brick and grey, chips looked like they had been fried multiple times. My sons pizza was undercooked but edible. I had to leave mine. I wish I was brace enough to complain, unfortunately I was too embarrassed so paid and left PDQ. Only thing I could say was the waiter was friendly and the views were great but not enough for us to even come back I'm afraid

Their advertising says they are "award-winning". That must be the building, not the food. It’s basic pub food, with limited vegetarian choice. The broccoli was over cooked, while the roast parsnip was so raw I could not cut it with a knife. The beef was unexceptional. My vegetarian partner had the filled pepper, and left half of it. Nothing was so bad that we had to complain, but don’t expect anything award-winning.

Our one night in Aberystwyth did not disappoint. At the end of the pier is this little delight. We booked a table earlier on in the day with a very friendly member of staff at the bar, and returned at 7pm for our meal. We had a lovely view of the bay from our table and received a very warm welcome. Lots of variety on the menu and a good selection of kids meals too. Would definitely recommend.

Myself & my husband visited Wales last week for a 3 day anniversary break. We went to Aberystwyth for a few hours one day and decided to have lunch here at the Pier Brasserie. It was immaculately clean, loved the décor and we sat right near the window with perfect view of the sea while we ate our food. The staff were very polite, food was delicious, especially the chips, my husband loved them. We'd definitely visit this place again.

4 of us went there for a Sunday lunch, ordered 4 drinks, and 4 meals, after a wait of more than an hour, 3 meals were delivered by a happy waitress, who announced enjoy you meal. it was pointed out that we were one meal short, no explanation provided, we were just told, err it would be about 5 minutes. Really. So cancelled said meal..... The food delivered was over cooked and tough, it was very apparent that they were running short of some items, as others were getting similar meals with different items missing.

OK Chai overview: Bit too spicy for us. It was OK Chai. Room for improvement of recipe and blend. Price of Chai (regular): £3.85 - O Coffee one was okay. The chai was a little inconsistent and clumpy but you know what, IT TRIED. And that is what matters most. What are we all if not a little inconsistent and clumpy? A little rough around the edges? I know I am. I appreciated the chai, and I will continue to do so. I also liked the barista dude he's a nice guy. - Overall rating 3/5 - <3 3.5/5 - Spice 3/5 - Consistency 2/5 - Price 3/5 - K I love coffee one's atmosphere. Very studious, however the chai recipe still needs to learn a lot. It was OK Chai, not blown away by it, but it wasn't bad. Very much in the middle, not failing, but not excelling. This is really reflected through the consistency, which felt a little gritty under the teeth. However, the staff were so lovely and they are absolutely amazing. A* for them. The Chai however? Solid C grade. - Overall rating 2.9/5 - Price 2.8/5 - Spice 3/5 - Milk options 4/5 - Smooth 2/5

We like the Coffee No 1 chain and as we were in Cardigan on holiday, we popped in their coffee shop, along with the dog, for a short while. As with all Coffee No 1 shops, the staff are lovely - they even gave us a bowl of water for the dog. The coffees and Welsh cakes are delicious and all in all, we spent a lovely 40 minutes or so in the shop.

Absolutely shocking service. The attitude on the person who has just served us was appalling !!!!! I don’t think she’d appreciate being treated in the same way. Practically threw the food at us and that wasn’t before stalling everything on the counter. Clearly everything was an issue. Sadly she didn’t wear a name badge but looking at previous complaints the manager has the same bad attitude so I’m guessing it was her. I have written a complaint to their head office and I hope she is reprimanded. In such a pandemic she is lucky to still be in employment. I won’t be calling again.
