Went for Sunday lunch yesterday had the turkey as the beef is always rare wish they would cook it for a bit longer fet sick of turkey every time we go . Bit disappointed with the Sunday roast some of the roast potatoes weren't cooked and were still hard the sausage in bacon was very under cooked and Yorkshire pudding wasn't cooked properly we noticed alot of customers had left roast potatoes... the sausage in bacon and the Yorkshire pudding all what I have mentioned . Maybe a few more options regarding the meat for a farm restaurant you'd think more options would be available. It's a beautiful restaurant beautiful surroundings but Sunday roast needs to be improved and cooked better .

My family and I have stayed on this camp site twice now and love this place come rain or shine. We make sure we get a pitch with a hot. The recent development increasing touring pitch capacity both family and adult is a great addition as it is so hard to get a pitch in peak season. We eat in the restaurant as a treat, both times great atmosphere, good value for the quality of the food, great gammon steak!!!! Great set up team, great work. See you next time👍

Front of house staff were attentive and friendly. There was a wide selection of drinks on offer, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. Food was disappointing, the porterhouse steaks were terrible and were clearly not 28-day aged steaks… one of the worst steaks I have ever eaten. Desserts were served either cold or wrong, and no better after being returned. We had high expectations from other reviews, and the branding is on point. Loved the image and atmosphere. I would recommend food is sourced locally rather than through a wholesaler, this may improve the quality of the meat. We would go back for drinks but not for food, and if you’re staying on the site you can be fighting for seats if it’s busy with diners. Overall disappointed

On our hols in need of a dog friendly restaurant. Found the Moody Cow and dined here twice. Staff very welcoming and you could tell quite a few enjoy their jobs and making sure the customer has good service, we were well looked after. A good choice menu and really enjoyed the well presented food. Our grandson enjoyed the play area in the Moody Calf next door. Would highly recommend and when in this area again will definitely come again.

The staff are lovely here every time we have been here, the environment is also homely and welcoming. We have eaten here many times and it has always been good quality and delicious food. We had afternoon tea today (for the first time). The scones with jam and cream, vol au vents, and the chocolate truffles were my favourite out of everything we had today !! Although, I do have a few notes about what could have been better. The cheese and tomato sandwich had quite obviously pregrated cheese, I was a bit disappointed about this, seeing as there is a farm shop in the same building as the restaurant. The pre-grated cheese made eating the sandwich very messy and the taste of the cheese wasnt the best. Additionally, we were given a cheese and tomato vol au vent instead of the prawn one (one of us ordered the standard afternoon tea, which was supposed to have a prawn one); the spinach and ricotta rolls that were listed on the website, were not provided with the afternoon tea either.

We were staying in the on-site campsite and were very pleased to be able to eat here. The restaurant was warm friendly and welcoming. The food was tasty and our steaks were perfectly cooked. There were a few well behaved dogs tucked under people’s tables and a lovely welcoming atmosphere. The shop is open 7 days a week during the day and sells lovely meat, cheese, veg, pies and pasties and store cupboard tasties as well as fresh bread and gin. The team that run the campsite and restaurant were all so friendly and I thoroughly recommend visiting them.

Popped in last Sunday as on a weekend break in the area. Walked in and the Receptionist (with grey hair) was on her mobile phone, she eventually looked up and I asked where the farm shop was, she grunted over there! I then walked into the farm shop and was greeted by another lady leaning on the counter on her phone. I didn't get a hello or a smile which to me is bare minimum. I spent £25.00 like a fool, walked out and yes...you guessed it...the Receptionist was still on her phone. Very poor impression given by the staff, I will definitely not spend my cash there again.

Visited here with a party of 13, all ranges of ages who had gathered to celebrate with a family evening meal for an 88th birthday. This is a large place which was busy so a challenging time for the staff. We were pre-booked with two weeks notice so to find we were placed on two different tables back to back in the bar area was not only surprising but also very disappointing. The larger table had bench seating which was not only uncomfortable but meant a backwards climb to get out or having to ask multiple people to move. It would have been easy enough for the establishment to have made room for us elsewhere, a little thought and effort is all it required, especially considering the number in the party and the large bill we paid. There was a large choice of areas and table configurations within the space so it was something straightforward to do if staff could have been bothered, and I am removing a service star because of that. The bar area was busy with people who seemed to have drank a few too many and insisted on dropping loud F bombs (we had children with us) and they had a large dog which random noisy people seemed to want to congregate around to pet. My food was nice, Welsh rarebit followed by Lasagne. Others were disappointed with aspects of their dishes. Coleslaw too dry and pavlova rock hard etc Bar: good lagers and quick service but beer options were poor - their just wasn't any. If you wanted Doombar for example it was only available alcohol free from a bottle and was like flat coke mixed with treacle. Gents toilet was small and awkward if more than a couple of patrons were using it, and for such a large place this could be a problem? On the whole 2 stars, hope this feedback is appreciated by the management......

I was extremely impressed with this place. The staff were so friendly and accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. Where do I start with the food. Ate in here most days as to be honest you’d struggle to find an establishment as good as this locally. The whole process from as soon as you walk in is so welcoming, the seats/tables are so comfortable and the decor and ambiance is amazing. The steak I had was one of the best I’ve had for a long time. Sunday carvery was gorgeous and such a good portion size. Trying this place is an absolute must.

Upon entering the reception area you are ignored completely by the reception staff, no eye contact is made, no smile, no nod, no acknowledgement that you are there barely 2 feet away from them. Food is mediocre but acceptable, however it is always served on cold plates. I have eaten here 4 times in the past year and nothing has changed. If you're willing to accept the foregoing, then this is the place for you. Milking the ambience of the building and furnishings is no excuse for belittling your paying customers!

Booked for works party at an event but as I have a nut allergy enquired as to an alternative menu as the one offered for the event had nuts. Told they had recently had someone in with a nut allergy who had had anaphylaxis but implied they hadn't been told and had no idea where the nuts had been. So I was told they couldn't accommodate me because of cross contamination. Looking at this menu they hadn't even put an 'N' next to the nut dishes, although obvious they had managed to let you know if some were vegan or vegetarian. This is not what you expect in 2024. Took them a week to get back to me to let me know this! Always been a hit and miss place as the staff are quite rude and the food very average.

Frosty welcoming, immediately told food would not be served till later on without asking what our visit was in relation to. Sat for an hour on a table with drinks awaiting 5pm for service, then to be told to move tables as some one had called and “requested” the table we were sat on, so we happily moved to another, however we stayed for around 2 hours in all and this table was not once filled….. felt very unwelcome. Food arrived, we had two lamb burgers and a side of garlic bread, it was ok and I would say a standard meal you would expect from a “chain” pub, nothing to write home about considering the local produce that you would expect from the “low miles” ingredients statement on the menu. The garlic bread, which was quite disappointing, I would describe more as buttered bread. The chips however were the only impressive thing of the meal. We had high expectations from family and friends recommendations, which were not even close to being met. We will NOT be rushing back… disappointing.

Luckily for both nights we mannaged to get the sofas bar side, With us having our dog we where still able to relax after the meal and extend our stay having a few drinks. This is the only cosy area that's available if you have dogs which is quite small considering the size of the place and how much cosy spaces there is for guests without dogs.

A must visit if you’re in the area. We camped near New Quay recently and visited three times during our two week stay. The farm shop is compact but well worth a browse. We discovered delicious local cheese, Welsh cakes of multiple varieties, and the most delicious locally distilled rum — incredibly smooth and not spiced! It seemed rude not to take advantage of the restaurant during these three visits. The food is delicious. I especially liked the design your own sandwich options, and I can also recommend the burgers and the delicious coffee. Had we been there for dinner, I would definitely have tried a steak. Portion sizes were generous, and whilst some vegetation options were likely available (I didn’t really notice), as the name suggests, this is a venue that is focused on meat. All the staff we interacted with were fab: friendly, chatty, and full of local knowledge. We were especially charmed by the lady running the shop on our second visit, who offered to let us sample the rum, which was instrumental in us buying an extra bottle. A great local business, highly recommended, and I haven’t even mentioned the “mootel”, which looked charming, the camp site (we camped elsewhere), and the children’s play centre. Pop in if you’re passing. You won’t be disappointed.

Lovely building with a great ambiance. We had a table for 6 with a dog, the staff were all very nice and accomodating and more importantly, the food was good. For feedback -the children's meals didn't come out first so the youngest member of our group, age 5 had to wait a good 10 minutes for hers to arrive after everyone else' had. Kids should always be served first, its a basic part for good service. We were also unsure if there was table service or if to order at the bar which a couple of signs about would help clarify. The staff seemed very busy so it was awkward to engage with them. We had quite a long wait in-between our drinks arriving and ordering food but once arrived everyone enjoyed. Regardless, you've got a good thing going on here, thanks for a pleasant visit and value for our money. A happy worker is a good worker... 😊

Waiting for the food to arrive, however, first impressions from the surly and disinterested staff that have served us so far mean that this establishment is well named. Moody Cows indeed. Update, well, it would that melancholy and a deep open pit where your soul used to be can at least produce a decent, if somewhat expensive sandwich. Fair play to them for employing the local Emo's and older Goths, at least it keeps them off the streets. Gives the local wildlife some blessed relief from their tales of woe (have you seen a duck that has been sat with an Emo for a while , not a pretty sight). Every town should have a place like this, but it should be well signposted to manage your expectations.

Visited the Bistro twice during our holiday in New Quay; once for breakfast and, having really enjoyed it, a few days later for lunch. A very relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, obviously very much enjoyed by locals and not just tourists. The service and food were excellent, and it was good to be able to make a sensible substitution in the cooked breakfast, as I don’t eat eggs but was able to substitute an extra sausage! Lunch was just as good, with a superb Malaysian curry (with extra chilli), and a bacon steak and chips really hitting the spot for us on a chilly September day. Must make a special mention of the bar-keeper, too, who delivered the best pint of Peroni I’ve ever had - clean, not too gassy and at a perfect temperature. It was so good we did a driver swap so I could have a second pint! He really knows his job. Great place if you’re in the area, with a good farm shop and easy parking on site. Worth booking for Sunday lunches and evenings, though, as it’s deservedly a very popular venue.

Upon arrival one could say it was slightly confusing as to where to get a table. When we found the hostess station, which was placed a little awkwardly in the doorway, my partner asked if we needed a reservation to which we were told “ideally”, despite there being plenty of tables. This left us feeling unwelcome and we felt we could have been greeted more politely. We were given a table and ordered food and drinks which came out quickly. When we finished we were left slightly confused as to how we would pay as no one really walked by for quite a while. After about 10 mins we were told we can pay at the bar with our table number but the tables weren’t physically numbered. It would have been easier for this information to be relayed to us upon sitting, written on the table on or even when our food came for the sake of convenience.

I had the pleasure of visiting this establishment recently, loved that it was animal friendly but the major selling point is it has some of the most polite and welcoming servers and bartenders. However my issue is how rushed off their feet the servers seemed, I have worked in the hospitality industry for about 10+ years now and I can recognise when a team is spread too thin. My recommendation for management is how to enable this great service going forward is to support your staff as in my opinion, their positive and friendly demeanour would be the only drawing back feature I could label from my visit. Either work on your management style and help support your team or unfortunately you may go the way of many under staffed and underutilised businesses of the past.

Holidaying close to New Quay and passed The Moody Cow as we came close to our cottage. We decided to pop in and have dinner that evening. Staff couldn’t have been friendlier or more helpful. The food arrived quickly and all four of us went away very happy. We returned later in the holiday and both the children asked for the steak listed in the children’s menu. Unfortunately, they’d run out and this caused a bit of upset for my 6 year-old daughter. Staff went out of their way to try and put it right and offered us an adult steak cut in two, which was perfectly cooked and went down a treat. Highly recommended. Staff, food and atmosphere are all excellent. Perfect for those evenings when you haven’t got time to cook your own dinner.

Amazing food, service and atmosphere. Chef deserves an award. Dog -friendly and disabled access is good. Process are also very fair for this level of quality.

We have just had a 5 night stay on the campsite and booked the restaurant for 6 people & 2 dogs during our stay. When we arrived though the allocated table was unsuitable as it was too small (it would have seated 4 at most). Some guests were leaving so said we could have their table instead. This sorted the issue however the managers attitude was awful. No apology was offered and whilst my husband was at the bar tasting a beer he overheard him say we were being English W*nkers. I hope the owners read this review as I'm sure they wouldn't want this from their staff. The rest of the team were wonderful as was our meal but clearly this overshadowed what could have been an amazing stay and meal.

Breakfast whilst camping locally and it was amazing, can heartily recommend the pancakes, muffins & veggie breakfast (we were a family of four, not just me!)....it was so good we returned a few nights later for dinner! Brilliant selection on the menu for both meaties and veggies/pescies, everyone was happy. We ate in the dog-friendly section and for a great, relaxed meal, we certainly could not fault it. Looking forward to our next visit whenever that may be!

Not my first time at the moody cow if I’m honest, first time was a let down . But I have to say that last night 2 of us went there and I have to say one of the best steaks I have ever had. Staff were very helpful and polite showing us to out table and taking our orders right away.staying at aberaeron in our holiday home and I definitely will be going back and definitely having the portobello steak again as it was cooked to perfection.

Very sad to hear what has happened to this lovely cafe. Visited twice earlier in the year while on holiday. First visit arrived on the train and second visit by car as we'd enjoyed the food, friendly atmosphere and the setting so much. Very disappointed in The Vale of Rheidols decision.

The dishes we received were very hit and miss in terms of quality and size. Notably, the prawn starter was very disappointing with only 4 prawns for £8.95!!!! What a let down. Didn’t complain, just won’t come back.

Whenever I feel a faint gleam of hope that tomorrow will bring once more the toothsome semblance of an as unyet fulfilled chance to enjoy prandial delection I say ‘Forthwith forthwith’ but yet a sudden rush of as if barely glimpsed the edges of reality. Or as Stephen Spender once said ‘ The hedges of drear- ’!! I write this as an appreciation of the staff of Baravin for allowing our small but earnest troop of amateur players to put on an impromptu performance of ‘The Crazy Gang, professional footballing at Wimbledon football club’ The audience of happy revellers looked up from their shimmering pizzas and sombre steaks in apt appreciation Wonderous days
