Ate here as part of a birthday weekend at the campsite with my husband! The food quality was absolutely fantastic, even though they were extremely busy, there were no shortcuts taken, everything was perfect! The porterhouse steak was amazing! The best we have ever had! Great quality, favourite, cooked as we like it! We will 100% be back!

Booked for works party at an event but as I have a nut allergy enquired as to an alternative menu as the one offered for the event had nuts. Told they had recently had someone in with a nut allergy who had had anaphylaxis but implied they hadn't been told and had no idea where the nuts had been. So I was told they couldn't accommodate me because of cross contamination. Looking at this menu they hadn't even put an 'N' next to the nut dishes, although obvious they had managed to let you know if some were vegan or vegetarian. This is not what you expect in 2024. Took them a week to get back to me to let me know this! Always been a hit and miss place as the staff are quite rude and the food very average.

Frosty welcoming, immediately told food would not be served till later on without asking what our visit was in relation to. Sat for an hour on a table with drinks awaiting 5pm for service, then to be told to move tables as some one had called and “requested” the table we were sat on, so we happily moved to another, however we stayed for around 2 hours in all and this table was not once filled….. felt very unwelcome. Food arrived, we had two lamb burgers and a side of garlic bread, it was ok and I would say a standard meal you would expect from a “chain” pub, nothing to write home about considering the local produce that you would expect from the “low miles” ingredients statement on the menu. The garlic bread, which was quite disappointing, I would describe more as buttered bread. The chips however were the only impressive thing of the meal. We had high expectations from family and friends recommendations, which were not even close to being met. We will NOT be rushing back… disappointing.

We recently stayed over here for two nights and dined in the Moody Cow both nights. I really find it hard to fault this place. From the great atmosphere and cosy feel to the very well portioned great tasting food it really hit full marks. The staff where friendly and helpful and the place was very clean. Luckily for both nights we mannaged to get the sofas bar side, With us having our dog we where still able to relax after the meal and extend our stay having a few drinks. This is the only cosy area that's available if you have dogs which is quite small considering the size of the place and how much cosy spaces there is for guests without dogs.

A must visit if you’re in the area. We camped near New Quay recently and visited three times during our two week stay. The farm shop is compact but well worth a browse. We discovered delicious local cheese, Welsh cakes of multiple varieties, and the most delicious locally distilled rum — incredibly smooth and not spiced! It seemed rude not to take advantage of the restaurant during these three visits. The food is delicious. I especially liked the design your own sandwich options, and I can also recommend the burgers and the delicious coffee. Had we been there for dinner, I would definitely have tried a steak. Portion sizes were generous, and whilst some vegetation options were likely available (I didn’t really notice), as the name suggests, this is a venue that is focused on meat. All the staff we interacted with were fab: friendly, chatty, and full of local knowledge. We were especially charmed by the lady running the shop on our second visit, who offered to let us sample the rum, which was instrumental in us buying an extra bottle. A great local business, highly recommended, and I haven’t even mentioned the “mootel”, which looked charming, the camp site (we camped elsewhere), and the children’s play centre. Pop in if you’re passing. You won’t be disappointed.

Don't bother. Welcoming front desk, told us we were welcome with a dog everywhere except the shop. We walked into the restaurant towards the area with the only available tables and were turned away as the dog was not allowed. Then, we sat in a waiting area, hoping for a table in the dog friendly area, and chose food. We were completely ignored and eventually decided to walk out. We were clearly not welcome at all. Lovely building with a great ambiance. We had a table for 6 with a dog, the staff were all very nice and accomodating and more importantly, the food was good. For feedback -the children's meals didn't come out first so the youngest member of our group, age 5 had to wait a good 10 minutes for hers to arrive after everyone else' had. Kids should always be served first, its a basic part for good service. We were also unsure if there was table service or if to order at the bar which a couple of signs about would help clarify. The staff seemed very busy so it was awkward to engage with them. We had quite a long wait in-between our drinks arriving and ordering food but once arrived everyone enjoyed. Regardless, you've got a good thing going on here, thanks for a pleasant visit and value for our money. A happy worker is a good worker... 😊

Waiting for the food to arrive, however, first impressions from the surly and disinterested staff that have served us so far mean that this establishment is well named. Moody Cows indeed. Update, well, it would that melancholy and a deep open pit where your soul used to be can at least produce a decent, if somewhat expensive sandwich. Fair play to them for employing the local Emo's and older Goths, at least it keeps them off the streets. Gives the local wildlife some blessed relief from their tales of woe (have you seen a duck that has been sat with an Emo for a while , not a pretty sight). Every town should have a place like this, but it should be well signposted to manage your expectations.

Visited the Bistro twice during our holiday in New Quay; once for breakfast and, having really enjoyed it, a few days later for lunch. A very relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, obviously very much enjoyed by locals and not just tourists. The service and food were excellent, and it was good to be able to make a sensible substitution in the cooked breakfast, as I don’t eat eggs but was able to substitute an extra sausage! Lunch was just as good, with a superb Malaysian curry (with extra chilli), and a bacon steak and chips really hitting the spot for us on a chilly September day. Must make a special mention of the bar-keeper, too, who delivered the best pint of Peroni I’ve ever had - clean, not too gassy and at a perfect temperature. It was so good we did a driver swap so I could have a second pint! He really knows his job. Great place if you’re in the area, with a good farm shop and easy parking on site. Worth booking for Sunday lunches and evenings, though, as it’s deservedly a very popular venue.

Then for quit, a coffee or a bite, the Moody Cow Bistro is a place to lounge in armchairs or sofas. The Moody Cow Farm Shop has a small but fresh and freshly made range of pastries, pies, veggies and fruit, as well as food products and gifts from local suppliers and crafters. My dog Domino, was welcome in the Bistro (though not the Farm Shop, so I put him in the car while I shopped). Parking: ample and easy. Staff friendly and helpful. Upon arrival one could say it was slightly confusing as to where to get a table. When we found the hostess station, which was placed a little awkwardly in the doorway, my partner asked if we needed a reservation to which we were told “ideally”, despite there being plenty of tables. This left us feeling unwelcome and we felt we could have been greeted more politely. We were given a table and ordered food and drinks which came out quickly. When we finished we were left slightly confused as to how we would pay as no one really walked by for quite a while. After about 10 mins we were told we can pay at the bar with our table number but the tables weren’t physically numbered. It would have been easier for this information to be relayed to us upon sitting, written on the table on or even when our food came for the sake of convenience.

Holidaying close to New Quay and passed The Moody Cow as we came close to our cottage. We decided to pop in and have dinner that evening. Staff couldn’t have been friendlier or more helpful. The food arrived quickly and all four of us went away very happy. We returned later in the holiday and both the children asked for the steak listed in the children’s menu. Unfortunately, they’d run out and this caused a bit of upset for my 6 year-old daughter. Staff went out of their way to try and put it right and offered us an adult steak cut in two, which was perfectly cooked and went down a treat. Highly recommended. Staff, food and atmosphere are all excellent. Perfect for those evenings when you haven’t got time to cook your own dinner.

I had the pleasure of visiting this establishment recently, loved that it was animal friendly but the major selling point is it has some of the most polite and welcoming servers and bartenders. However my issue is how rushed off their feet the servers seemed, I have worked in the hospitality industry for about 10+ years now and I can recognise when a team is spread too thin. My recommendation for management is how to enable this great service going forward is to support your staff as in my opinion, their positive and friendly demeanour would be the only drawing back feature I could label from my visit. Either work on your management style and help support your team or unfortunately you may go the way of many under staffed and underutilised businesses of the past.

We have just had a 5 night stay on the campsite and booked the restaurant for 6 people & 2 dogs during our stay. When we arrived though the allocated table was unsuitable as it was too small (it would have seated 4 at most). Some guests were leaving so said we could have their table instead. This sorted the issue however the managers attitude was awful. No apology was offered and whilst my husband was at the bar tasting a beer he overheard him say we were being English W*nkers. I hope the owners read this review as I'm sure they wouldn't want this from their staff. The rest of the team were wonderful as was our meal but clearly this overshadowed what could have been an amazing stay and meal.

An amazing find! Popped in for a coffee and cake and stayed for hours. Lovely atmosphere, plenty of space, nice staff, great cakes and all of the menus for main meals look wonderful too! Highly recommend! Dog friendly in half of the seating area too!

I've just had lunch there and it's nice to see a bit of imagination with veggie food. Had a roasted butternut squash, roasted onion and a soft cheese salad with a tahini dressing. Delicious. The servers were all really friendly and helpful and nothing too much trouble. One of the bad reviews said they charge £2.70 for tap water- which is a blatant lie. Also, some say the staff are unfriendly and rude. They must have gone to a different Moody Cow Cafe than me and, I suspect that they were entitled and couldn't get their own way over something. I work in the service industry and know how difficult people can be. This place also knows how to make a proper flat white, unlike some of the latte like offerings in other places. I would encourage anyone that can, to pay a visit. It's very child and dog friendly and you won't be disappointed.

Two Hoots Tea Room at Devil's Bridge offers a delightful dining experience amidst the picturesque landscapes of rural Wales. Situated near the famous waterfalls and historic bridge, this charming tea room combines warm hospitality with a menu that caters to diverse tastes. Our dining experience at Two Hoots began with a selection of hearty mains. The burger was a standout, featuring a juicy beef patty nestled in a soft, toasted bun with crisp lettuce and fresh tomato. It was accompanied by a generous portion of golden fries, perfectly crispy on the outside and fluffy inside. The salmon with poached egg was equally satisfying. The salmon was cooked to perfection, flaky and flavorful, complemented by a perfectly poached egg that added a creamy richness to each bite. The dish was elegantly presented and served with a side of seasonal vegetables that added a refreshing touch. For dessert, we indulged in their ice cream, which was a delightful conclusion to our meal. The ice cream was rich and creamy, with a variety of flavors to choose from, each offering a perfect balance of sweetness and texture. The ambiance at Two Hoots is cozy and inviting, with rustic decor and friendly service that adds to the overall charm. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable, ensuring that our dining experience was enjoyable from start to finish. While the tea room can be busy during peak times, the quality of the food and the serene surroundings make it a worthwhile stop. Whether you're craving a hearty meal or looking to treat yourself to a sweet dessert, Two Hoots Tea Room at Devil's Bridge offers a delightful blend of comfort, flavor, and Welsh hospitality in a truly enchanting setting.

Café in the National Library of Wales. A bit pricey - but otherwise a good hot chocolate and cake.
