Been here a few times for birthday party's office party's and just general nights out great place staff are friendly 👌 and helpful food is excellent and plenty of it, only make sure your hungry when you get there.

Pretty typical café food, it's ok but staff seem miserable. Dog friendly, so avoid it if you think dogs shouldn't be allowed inside restaurants.

Old style cafe friendly and great value. Busy peak lunch time but does a fab choice for breakfast.

This cafe was excellent. Very reasonable prices and the food was extremely good. All home cooked and a massive range of veg. I’d recommend the Cawl which was amazing. The coffee was very good too. Would definitely go back if in the area.

A old cafe with loads of character

Nicely busy even on a wet , weekday in February. Food was good and tasty. Service was pleasant and just about timely. A little pricey, £16.50 for a pot of tea and 2 toasted sandwiches but nonetheless, tasty. Would visit again.

This is a gem of a place. The service was fabulous. The food was beautifully presented and tasted amazing. This was a fresh vegan risotto with crunchy delicious salads and garlic bread. Cardigan is so lucky to have this cafe!

Have been to this cafe a few times now and the food is amazing, all fresh and all homemade, Danielle the member of staff always makes us comfortable. The food is priced well and good portion sizes are good..

Had a prawn jacket with salad. The portion was huge and so tasty. Staff were friendly and made sure I got what I needed.

Was totally misled by the baffling great reviews, very basic rickety and tired cafe, with quite tasteless food, very disappointing, I guess you get what you pay for.

Everything we ate tasted amazing we came here twice during our stay in st dogmeals. I would have eaten everything on the menu if I could. 🙂

We love this place and come as a family whenever we are in Cardigan. Favourites are the breakfasts, although my daughter loves the toasties!

Popped in here after visiting Cardigan Castle, not expecting very much, but the staff are lovely, there are plenty of gluten-free options and the Welsh breakfast (available all day) was fantastic. Tip: ask for the vegetarian sausages as I reckon they’re tastier than the meat ones 🙂

Googled this place whilst on holiday close to cardigan and called in to have Sunday lunch they were very accommodating especially as they had a large group of 10 upstairs. Very nice roast dinner beef and pork 😋 and to echo other reviews large portions many slices of meat lots of vegetables and mashed pots and roastie. Very good value for money

Showing the enclosed 'snack' for £3 when you consider what can be bought just up the road at Greggs, this cafe had better get a grip!

Nice little gem! Good hot food at a reasonable price. Well frequented, always busy. Would recommend for breakfast/lunch or dinner/dessert.

Second time we’ve been here, last time I had a jacket potato and partner had breakfast which was nice, hence our return. Today I had sausage and mash, it came out presented like a school dinner and tasting even worse. Veg was so over cooked the carrot could be mashed with your finger. There was a veg purée substance I couldn’t even work out and the sausages had to be from the aldi up the road. Partner had steak and ale pie, he said the pie was nice but he left the veg, and he’s not one to leave anything! We will still pop in on occasion for breakfasts but that’s about it sadly.

We always visit when on holiday, great cafe with restaurant upstairs, we often go for light lunch, a baguette or omelette, always fresh ingredients and generous portions and reasonably priced. Last visit we went for a Sunday roast, huge portion of mixed meats plenty of mostly fresh veg with mountains of mashed potatoes, excellent value, warm welcoming staff, highly recommended this place.

Happened across the cafe for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Was very surprised! I enjoyed a homemade steak and ale pie that tasted absolutely delicious and came with mash and 3 types of veg. The beef was cooked to perfection and melted in my mouth. My 8 year old had a child’s portion of ham, eggs and chips which was massive! Service was amazing too! Would highly recommend

Popped in for a light lunch when on holiday in the area. Very simple little cafe although I think there was more seating upstairs where I think the loos were too. We had good value food and were served by lovely, friendly staff. Would recommend.

Best full English / Welsh breakfast round here. Nice cafe, no thrills but great friendly service & the food is lovely. The mushrooms were fabulous so when we returned & commented on this the chef bought us out some more. Nice people

What a little gem we happened to find! We were looking for somewhere to eat, lots of places were full, but we found this cafe off a side street. The food was all home cooked and fresh, I had a ploughman's which was one of the best I've had!! Definitely recommended for a bite to eat!! Desserts were delicious too!!

Following recommendations and then checking it out myself, I booked a meal for 18 members of our hiking club, who were visting the area for a weekend. We pre-ordered our meal and they were very accommodating with last minute changes. All communication in advance was clear, prompt and helpful. On arrival, we were given a warm welcome and the food quickly arrived - very tasty & lots of it! Exactly what a group of hungry hikers need. Service was efficient & prompt. Cannot recommend highly enough. A big thank you to Peter & his team. We'll be back!

What a lucky find for lunch! Cawl is a must, just be prepared for a BIG portion (of everything!) I would have loved a piece of pie but didn't dare as we were booked in for an evening meal at our hotel. Extremely reasonably priced

On our last visit we had a great breakfast here , this time it was a different experience. The inside looked very neglected and grubby and it only has a hygiene rating of 1 out of 5. The meal was poor, very cheap sausage, over cooked black pudding and egg. The cheapest bread and now have to pay extra for a tea or coffee. The price has increased from £6.50 to 8.50 but now without a drink included. Place was empty, so enough said.

Temporarily staying here in Cardigan for a month. Have to say that their steak and ale pie was just like my mum use to make. I've visited there several times now and thought the quality of the food was excellent. Varied menu to suit all tastes whether you are carnivore, vegetarian or vegan or even gluten free. Pleasant and friendly staff.

We were a party of 3 , we had beef and chicken dinners, they were fabulous so tasty, excellent range of other meals too if you don’t want roasts, very friendly service , will always recommend this restaurant/cafe, thank you .

Not knowing where to eat we found this little gem down the side road. The menu is excellent and special boards had loads to choose from. The staff were very friendly and service was quick. The food was delicious and a good size portion. It was cooked fresh using top quality sourced food. First time here and will definitely be back.

I originally found this cafe last year when we arrived in Cardigan at 10 a.m. looking for a breakfast. It was delicious and plenty full. The choice was excellent. This time we decided to try their restaurant upstairs. We were not disappointed … the food...

If you want a fabulous meal then look no further. Food is absolutely delicious. We ate here 2 days running. Value for money...

Our family stopped for lunch. The staff were very welcoming for both the children and our dog. The food was good quality at a very reasonable price. Well worth a visit.

Wish i could give a zero rating. Avoid at all cost! This place has a hygiene of 1 and deservedly so! Sticky chairs and tables, grubby floors and walls and the staff are clueless about the menu. This cafe/bar/grill/restaurant is suggested as a vegan friendly place on lots of vegan facebook pages. Supposed to have "vegan options" in truth there's one option for vegans(sweet potato curry and rice). We had 2 small kids with us who wouldn't want that but, if you listen to the vegan pages the chips are also vegan. I always check with the staff to see if they are. Firstly the three members of staff walked away and pretended to be busy(even though they were all talking to each other about their personal lives as I approached them). When one reluctantly came to the counter I enquired if the chips were infact vegan. They were unsure and had to ask the other members of staff if they were in fact vegan(all staff members should know these things as a standard part of their job roles). Eventually they said that the main fryer was contaminated with dairy and meat but..."what about the gluten free fryer"? The staff member asked another colleague....."no....that's had cheese in too" they announced. We then left and to be honest I was happy not to be eating there! For the restaurant owner/manager I've nearly 30 years experience of working in catering and hospitality and I have never been to such a badly run and grubby looking place in my life. The staff aren't trained, knowledge of the full menu should be a standard requirement for all staff members. I wouldn't trust your one vegan option or the one gluten free option to not be cross contaminated by using the same utensils as you do for the rest of your menu. As for the cleanliness of your establishment I think the 1 hygiene rating was too generous!

We always Pop in here when we visit the town love their cheese toasty with salad got a good range of food and cake's staff are always pleasant don't know how they are able to keep running up and down them stairs!!!🤔

Tasty late afternoon lunch of freshly made toasted sandwiches, tea and coffee very good value and prompt service, would definitely visit again.

Both concepts of customer service and serving decent food as described on the menu are yet to reach this establishment.

Lovely food. Arrived without a booking on a Monday evening, and the member of staff sat us down immediately. Food was fantastic and filling. The lamb marrakesh and the steak pies were great. Staff were great as was the food. Certainly a place to go...

Lovely little Cafe/Restaurant. We went upstairs to the restaurant one evening and I had the Sausage, mash and Veg. Was absolutely lovely and well priced for what it was. The Wiff, had Burger, chips and coldslaw. The chips were delicious, as I had some too.

Have never had a bad meal here. Food is always lovely here and good value for money

I had a simple meal here, just bangers and mash, but it was excellent, nice vegetables, not over-cooked and top quality flavoursome sausages. Cafe has modern decor and good service.

Lovely Sunday lunch and great service

The outside blackboards advertised interesting looking dishes; another sign stated ‘restaurant upstairs’. On entering we noted the place was empty apart from one female staff member behind the chiller at the far end and a man, possibly a staff member, sitting in the far corner....

Hidden gem! Checked on trip advisor for a nice cafe in the area when visiting for a day trip. This place rightly deserves its place as the 4th in the local area. We had a lovely cheese and caramelised onion panini with chips and pudding....

Couldn't fault the food or service. Came here last year and had to return to prove it was still as good as it was. IT WAS. You don't walk away hungry that for sure.

Hi for a fairly small cathedral this is a must visit so much interested information a great gift shop,and not forgetting the Refectory cafe lovely staff and great selection of food to choose from keep it up.

Disappointed with the food, I ordered a salmon fish cake (gluten free). It only came one small fish cake, with a sprinkles of salmon, the majority was potato. So it was a potato fish cake not a salmon fish cake. Would not recommend it. There are other places to eat, but unfortunately, this was the only place serving food on Monday. I tried the cafe, not the restaurant so I'm not sure if the quality at the restaurant is the same.

Have been to the Priory cafe a few times and it’s great. The food is proper home cooked and really big portions and good value for money, I’ve had a couple of different meals there and they don’t disappoint. The staff are friendly and helpful ,would recommend.

No bells, whistles or posh interior this is a proper place to eat. Good honest home cooked food at good prices. The most amazing homemade pies, tarts and flan. Expect good food in large portions. Friendly welcome. This is the sort of hidden gem locals know and use but tourists miss.

We have been here a couple of times now. We thought after the first time we would give it a couple of tries but sad to say, we won't be going back. Some of the staff are rude, and the place needs a good clean. The food we had was ok (breakfast)and there is one lady that has some customer service skills but Sorry but we don't want to go and eat in a place where you are made to feel uncomfortable and spoken to rudely.

My partner and i chose The Priory to celebrate my birthday after reading good reviews and we weren't disappointed. We both had the best meal out in a very long time! Really tasty, generous portions, wonderful service, good value for money, a perfect place to celebrate a special occasion. Cannot rate it highly enough, definitely worth a visit.
