Booked a table for Monday 17 May 2021, we were shown to our table and asked to wear our face covering whilst moving around the pub, hand sanitizers all over the pub. Names and phone numbers taken for T&T purposes. We ordered our drinks and food, I had the white bait to start my hubby had honey mustard sausages, I had fish lasagna for my main hubby had fish and chips, I finished off with the Strawberry and elderflower panacotta with homemade shortbread. The whole meal was amazing and well worth the wait. All the staff were very friendly and happy to be greeting people inside. Can’t wait for my next visit.

Several free outdoor tables available. We queued up and waited to be seated and was eventually told there were no seats available for two. The couple behind were told the same. Clearly just attempting to get more people in, we won’t come back. Why couldn’t you have told us before we stood there queuing? Why be so greedy?

The title of the review kind of sums this up ! We were reccomended this eaterie by the owners of our B and B, normally we are a bit wary of mates reccomending each other, but in this instance the advice was excellent. With three dogs it can be difficult to find somewhere to accomodate you but the Glengower were happy to have them in and treated them very well. As we visited during the Covid Pandemic precautions were in place and were administered very well -all the staff had face coverings or masks - lots of hand sanitiser available - good social distancing throughout. The important bit - the reason for the visit - the food - was great. Even the Wife (hard to impress at the best of times) was impressed ! Downsides ? Possibly a tad expensive... and if you don't book a table on Fridays and Saturdays you probably won't get in (Although this is a compliment to the eaterie and not really a criticism).

Very impressed how professionally and completely the hotel is addressing COVID-19 safety for staff and guests. We had excellent outdoor service for a drink with a sea view. Staff member, with face mask, only had to delivery the ordering instructions card to us.No further contact. The rest we managed to order and paying (a very reasonable price) for drinks using their website app. Two different draught beers in excellent condition. No complaints at all.

Semi Regular at the glen and it’s always great food and service, this visit though I took my rescue dog with me, he’s very nervous generally but post lock down plus masks it’s all a lot for him. Not only was the food and service 10/10 but the waitress who served us was particularly accommodating found us a table out of the main area and nothing was too much trouble. She made us all feel relaxed and really made the visit a delight. Thank you Ellie and the rest of the team. Well done guys you’re doing a great job in this difficult time.

We recently went on a short holiday to Aberystwyth. Understandably activities and places to visit & eat, especially because I have coeliac disease. The Glengower was recommended by our son in law. Absolutely incredible place to eat & drink. Wonderful atmosphere with quirky decor. The food was to die for. The menu is varied and showcases local produce along with the chef’s skill. I had the cheeseboard with 4 Welsh cheeses of incredible flavours that complemented each other perfectly. Not a cheap place to eat but definitely worth the cost. The staff are cheerful and friendly. Can’t wait to visit again.

First of all under the current COVID climate let me say how well this pub has it organised. Hand sanitiser is everywhere and tables have been put on furlough which I though was brilliant. Excellent choice of ales, lagers and ciders. Food wise. We couldn’t fault it. Best meal of our staycation. Had the sharing starter which was enough for 4. We each had the special Spicy Chicken Burger which was delicious and looking around every meal looked good. Excellent atmosphere. Welcoming and attentive staff. All told. Superb.

Been twice on this visit to Aber. Sunday and mid week. Both visits excellent. Went late Sunday so only pork available but to be expected after a busy lunch service and still very good. The Sunday lunch here was really good but I could only give it a 4 as they had ran out of beef and lamb... Only pork was available. It was tasty and we were stuffed at the end of it - the cauliflower cheese was yummyA difficulty we found was ordering drinks - we were not really encouraged to go to the bar to look at the gin/whiskey selection however they had a huge selection and it wasn't written down anywhere... Therefore difficult to order.

Had a meal here as a family - The place was very very clean which was pleased to see and also had a one way system which is good as other places don’t in town! We was greeted by the door and taken to our seat and they explained it was table service ect ect. We all ordered food and drinks - had our starters they were lovely and then had our mains not once were we asked if we wanted any more drinks, half way through our meal we was expecting someone to check on us and see if want drinks but that didn’t happen either, so didn’t bother going up to bar to get more drinks as didn’t know if we could. Food is just normal pub food but decent quality and service could improve. Other than that it’s a good spot in town for lunch, especially if you catch the sunset!

It wasn't easy to get parking along Victoria Terrace as there's limited parking on one side, but we did manage to get one as a car was leaving. There is a public parking building close by though. Important to note that dogs are only allowed if on a lead. We did notice that there is no specific wheelchair access and there are 2 steps up to the entrance. There is free wifi - you just have to ask at the bar for the code. The Restaurant was packed & quite noisy but we eventually got a table for two. You have to order & pay at the Bar & the food took quite a long while to arrive. However, it was a decent sized meal, piping hot and tasted really good. This a family friendly restaurant & they have customer toilets but not on the ground floor. There is also limited outside seating so you can see & hear the waves crashing on the shoreline. We decided to eat inside & take a good long walk along the esplanade after dinner. The Restaurant caters for all dietary types, so there's no problem if you have special food requirements. The menu is mostly locally sourced and they have daily blackboard specials. A very popular Aberystwyth restaurant.

I had the Vegetable Curry which was advertised on the Chef's Special Board. I was advised that I was lucky as it was the last one available. Great I thought, it must be really good. I was so disappointed when it arrived, there wasn't a hint of curry in the sauce and it basically consisted of potato and tomato. It was a ragoe sauce, not a curry. To be fair I wasn't charged for my meal and the staff were very apologetic and the people who accompanied me had very good meals. It's just disappointing when your meal isn't as described and rather spoilt the evening.

There is an outdoor Terrace where one can sit with a drink or a meal and watch the world go by or view one of the famous Aberystwyth sunsets. The Glen always has a range of real ales on tap and has won a number of awards for the quality of the ales it serves. The menu has a good range of food on offer and there is always a "Specials" choice on a blackboard with one item dedicated to the Aberystwyth Lifeboat Station. We have been to this pub a couple of times before, just for drinks sitting outside in the sun. However, yesterday we were disgusted at the attitude of the landlord. He was very rude to a guy with a dog we were sitting chatting to outside for an hour and banned him...for no apparent reason. As my husband stuck up for the guy, we are now banned. Even friends who were with us and didn't say anything were told they were banned! Personally, I don't care. There are lots of places to drink where the owners are pleasant and at least civil to customers. I will also be posting this on Facebook to all my family and friends around Aberystwyth, Machynlleth, Aberdovey and beyond!

A year on and we returned for their amazing steak. They did not disappoint! By far the best around. If only we lived a little closer.

Lovely busy pub on seafront with outside seating looking over towards the sea. Good beer and food although quite expensive. Spent many an hour here during our stay in Aberystwyth sitting in the sun!!.

We absolutely love the Glengower! Over the week we were in Aberystwyth, we visted 3 times. Definately go on a sunday as their sunday dinners are amazing ! We took our border collie with us and he loved all the fuss and attention 😁

Eat here quite regularly, lovely spacious pub on the seafront. Recently updated their menu with a bit more focus on fish (well it is by the sea!). Lots of choice and caters for all. Only downside is that it is quite pricey. For pub grub you’d expect to pay a little less. Sunday lunch highly recommended.

Went to the Glen for lunch with my husband and our two dogs. The pub is nice and the location great with it being on the promenade. Not table service so had to order at the bar but for the prices you pay you would expect that table service was part of the price. We had two club sandwiches, a portion of onion rings and two pints which came to a total of £30.30. For a pub lunch that is quite high. The price of drink in this pub is definitely on the high end and prices you would expect to pay in a big city not a little seaside town. Anyway we had chosen to eat here as we didn’t want food that was from a freezer and just deep fried. We were disappointed. The club sandwiches were delivered to the table and straight away we could see that the “handful of hand cut chips” that it stated on the menu were indeed not hand cut chips but very obviously bought in chips. The sandwiches looked ok but then not seasoned so bland to taste and the lettuce on the sandwich was just one little flat leaf. Really disappointing and even more so as the food did not match what the menu stated we would get. If we had‘ enough known we would get this quality we would have gone to one of the other pubs in town and paid a cheaper price for food of the same quality.

Like the 'Glen' and have never had a bad meal but felt must comment on the 5 medium rare steaks we ate on Saturday afternoon. Perfectly cooked all arrived at same time excellent job by chef not a moral was left by all, and a sea view! Well done

Visited on Thursday evening just as the sun was setting, absolutely stunning, this pub is right on the sea front. There’s always a great choice of Gin and Beer. This week they have Butty Bach, Purple Moose and Directors, just to mention a few.

We were staying at the campsite on a hot tub pitch so it was perfect for a Friday night dinner for me and my wife. The bistro has a fantastic vibe and atmosphere. couch seating areas for coffee, drink
