Asked about local gins and prices. I ordered I (lovely that I was told was £3.50 single 7 double and opted for a single. My husband wanted to know about other local gins and asked about 1 in particular. Turned out to be 2x as much. No mention of this until the bill came Seems rude not to forewarn us when we had specifically asked about pricing. 😕🤨

A lovely stay at The Glengower. My daughter and I were visiting my son Daniel who is in his first year at the University of Aberystwyth. We arrived at The Glengower to a warm welcome. Having requested a quiet room our bedroom was on the third floor. The stairs to the room with luggage were quite a challenge and wouldn’t be suitable for anyone with mobility issues, but we managed the climb. Our room was spacious and very comfortable, with beautiful sea views. It was lovely being so close to the sea and listening to the waves on the shore at night time in bed. The bed was very comfortable with additional pillows and blankets. The en-suite was immaculately clean and a decent size. The water pressure in the shower was lacking somewhat, but adequate. The en-suite in room 32 would benefit from a towel rail for hand towels and a shelf below the mirror for toiletries/toothbrushes. We reserved a table before we arrived for dinner on the evening and it is advisable to do so because the pub and restaurant was extremely busy. Our food was wonderful and the service was very good too. My son joined us for dinner and the three of us enjoyed a very pleasant evening. Breakfast was also good. My daughter and I both chose omelettes from the menu and they were delicious. We also tried the pastries and fruit juice, which were also lovely. When visiting my son again in Aberystwyth, The Glengower will be my “go-to” choice of accommodation. Thank you to all the staff who looked after us, and well done ☺️!

We had dinner here a couple of times as it was in easy reach of where we were staying. Most important was that it was dog friendly. This place gets really busy so you definitely need to book. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The food is very good quality. Could do with more vegan options but what I had was delicious and different from the normal standard fare. Reasonably priced. Nice atmosphere and when great location on the Promenade.

Been eating at the Glen for approx 12 years, every time we travel up for a visit from Newport, south wales, main gripe had to be the amount of flies flying around the restaurant, I wasn’t the only diner trying to swatt them out of the way ! ..the food is usually of a very good standard , the food this evening was very poor, I ordered 10 oz rump steak (£25!) at that price you expect the meal to be of a very good standard, the chips / onion rings were very greasy, they tasted like they’d been fried in old oil, the pepper sauce was pretty tasteless, the steak was just ok, drink prices have gone through the roof !!! Will be trying somewhere else to eat on our next visit

We had a terrible experience trying to have lunch here. Despite making a booking, we waited over an hour before asking about our food. We were given the excuse that it was busy. However, people who arrived 45 minutes after us received their orders while our kids were starving. Speaking to the manager, we discovered that the server hadn't even put in our order and lied about there being so many tables ahead of us. The management and service are utterly incompetent. Avoid this place at all costs and spend your money where they employ competent staff.

We ate June 11. I had a "filled of beef ragu with smoked pancetta and taglietelli". Sounded very italian and delicious. I reality it was a watery beef stew with fettuccine that had come from a packet and was overcooked and tasted as if it had been sitting around for half an hour. There was no evidence of smoked pancetta. My wife had a "panko crusted pollock with sticy rice and a Thai green curry sauce and pickled vegetables". The fish was almost cold and the sauce had curry powder and did not bear much resemblance to a green curry. It was an extremely disappointing introduction to Welsh cuisine.

The title of the review kind of sums this up ! We were reccomended this eaterie by the owners of our B and B, normally we are a bit wary of mates reccomending each other, but in this instance the advice was excellent. With three dogs it can be difficult to find somewhere to accomodate you but the Glengower were happy to have them in and treated them very well. As we visited during the Covid Pandemic precautions were in place and were administered very well -all the staff had face coverings or masks - lots of hand sanitiser available - good social distancing throughout. The important bit - the reason for the visit - the food - was great. Even the Wife (hard to impress at the best of times) was impressed ! Downsides ? Possibly a tad expensive... and if you don't book a table on Fridays and Saturdays you probably won't get in (Although this is a compliment to the eaterie and not really a criticism).

There is free wifi - you just have to ask at the bar for the code. The Restaurant was packed & quite noisy but we eventually got a table for two. You have to order & pay at the Bar & the food took quite a long while to arrive. However, it was a decent sized meal, piping hot and tasted really good. This a family friendly restaurant & they have customer toilets but not on the ground floor. There is also limited outside seating so you can see & hear the waves crashing on the shoreline. We decided to eat inside & take a good long walk along the esplanade after dinner. The Restaurant caters for all dietary types, so there's no problem if you have special food requirements. The menu is mostly locally sourced and they have daily blackboard specials. A very popular Aberystwyth restaurant.

Excellent meal. Several good vegetarian choices. Food presentation was excellent and portions were generous. We were both really impressed with the food. Service was very good too, both at the bar and the table. I will definitely be returning here to eat again.

Walking distance from the B&B; we were staying at. Reccomended by our tour guide. Very good local food and fine ale. Good selection of local food, moderate prices, friendly service. Everything you could want in a restaurant.

I had the Vegetable Curry which was advertised on the Chef's Special Board. I was advised that I was lucky as it was the last one available. Great I thought, it must be really good. I was so disappointed when it arrived, there wasn't a hint of curry in the sauce and it basically consisted of potato and tomato. It was a ragoe sauce, not a curry. To be fair I wasn't charged for my meal and the staff were very apologetic and the people who accompanied me had very good meals. It's just disappointing when your meal isn't as described and rather spoilt the evening.

A wonderful choice of menu, reasonably priced and with plenty of seating options...and if lucky can be seated outside for the seaside and sunshine. Very good value.

We enjoyed a pub dinner of fish and chicken but nothing special. The staff were very good and placing a cold plate as if it will burn your fingers was amusing. Busy pub gave atmosphere.

Two Hoots Tea Room at Devil's Bridge offers a delightful dining experience amidst the picturesque landscapes of rural Wales. Situated near the famous waterfalls and historic bridge, this charming tea room combines warm hospitality with a menu that caters to diverse tastes. Our dining experience at Two Hoots began with a selection of hearty mains. The burger was a standout, featuring a juicy beef patty nestled in a soft, toasted bun with crisp lettuce and fresh tomato. It was accompanied by a generous portion of golden fries, perfectly crispy on the outside and fluffy inside. The salmon with poached egg was equally satisfying. The salmon was cooked to perfection, flaky and flavorful, complemented by a perfectly poached egg that added a creamy richness to each bite. The dish was elegantly presented and served with a side of seasonal vegetables that added a refreshing touch. For dessert, we indulged in their ice cream, which was a delightful conclusion to our meal. The ice cream was rich and creamy, with a variety of flavors to choose from, each offering a perfect balance of sweetness and texture. The ambiance at Two Hoots is cozy and inviting, with rustic decor and friendly service that adds to the overall charm. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable, ensuring that our dining experience was enjoyable from start to finish. While the tea room can be busy during peak times, the quality of the food and the serene surroundings make it a worthwhile stop. Whether you're craving a hearty meal or looking to treat yourself to a sweet dessert, Two Hoots Tea Room at Devil's Bridge offers a delightful blend of comfort, flavor, and Welsh hospitality in a truly enchanting setting.

This is the best charging stop in the UK. Free parking while you charge. 50p/kWh for a rapid charger. The Fuuse App works easily. Great value food in a clean restaurant and free entry to the National Library of Wales. This is the future of EV charging. If only all charging stops could be like this.
