Nice place, friendly staff and good, fresh food, I will definitely be back.

Old school, stripped back bar probably best known nowadays for the connection to Ian Rankins Rebus. Great service, no gimmicks (or fruit machines!!) and well made and reasonably priced rolls. Probably hasn't changed at all in the last 80 years.

Bad service, they don't pay attention to the customer, bad experience for tourism, Edinburgh have a lot of pubs better then

Had dinner, bit over priced for what I got, only one make of wine which tasted like vinegar, staff were not welcoming at all and not a nice atmosphere. After we ate decided to go to bar for a drink (it was my birthday) and thought might have different wine and more friendly atmosphere but a man opened the door and said there was no seats, full because of rugby match on so sat in seats in lounge, this was about 2.45pm, a staff member TOLD us we would need to leave by 5pm, between this time we were TOLD not asked, three times, that we would have to move by 5pm. There was a mish mash of seats that were uncomfortable and the first table we sat at had a rug under it which was wrinkled up and I tripped over it so we moved seats as I had my 87 year old mum with me and didn't want her falling. Overall spoilt my birthday and we will never go back there. So if you are looking for a friendly pub with good atmosphere, don't come here.

Restaurant is far to busy,seating in to close together,making for an uncomfortable experience. Bar staff are poorly trained, pouring wine into warm wet glass is a basic error, bar area was untidy,giving a poor impression. Female toilets were dirty and unkemped. Overall a poor experience first and only visit.

Called to ask for stock info. Just ‘No’. Then ‘thank you bye’. Unhelpful at best.

A locals pub but a friendly one! We were there around lunchtime and it was quite quiet. There is a larger area at the back for dining but unfortunately the kitchen was closed on our visit (Monday) so I'd like to visit again on another day to try the food. There are some lovely historic details including beautiful stained glass windows. Spotlessly clean ladies loo.

Was in earlier today, immediate impression was a bad one. For a start the (only) staff member there was indifferent and unfriendly. As a result I felt very uncomfortable and it was apparent this individual just didn't want to be there, or just didn't appreciate their customers. The place itself is a bit shabby and badly needs a makeover. Given that there's plenty of other cafes nearby, I would recommend people go elsewhere.

Been. A few times and the pints are absolutely honking Had to refuse a pint because it was disgusting

Stopped in for a coffee, two lovely ladies served me quickly. The owner was very friendly and spoke to me about the lovely art on the wall. Would recommend :)

The food is tasteless. All of them tasted like water-boiled with sauce poured on top of it. The waiters were very nice yet that couldn't compensate the terrible food at all. We ordered the seafood feast, sefood udon and penne com polo e funghi. None of them worth the price. You can definitely get better food with that cost.

Service was good,banter between staff was good .plenty seating and clean toilets ☺️

Really enjoyed my return visit.l haven't been here since it's been the Fat Pheasant. We really enjoyed the burger and the Sunday roast followed by the Apple pie washed down with a nice red, excellent relaxed but professional atmosphere and good value with great staff
