Showed up @ 1245 for Sunday roast & they were shut (sign says they open at 12). Went some where else instead

Advertised as a Bar and Kitchen but when we arrived for a lunch were told no food. We left and went to a lovely Cafe with great food (Koffee Pot) just along the road.

What a place, £20 to someone that can find a better boozer than this i'll wait.

This is the greatest place on planet earth. I will fight anyone who disagress

Clean and friendly. Food smelled nice, though I didn't have any myself. Close to a football stadium and rugby, so sports on tv, can be a bonus. If matches are on, it will get busy, so get a seat before the match ends.

Me and my family went to Jessie Mays as we heard that our favourite takeaway Altro Kitchen has moved there, can easily say we were not disappointed! All our takeaway favourite plus so much more available for when we sat in. The food is outstanding and we’re so happy we can sit in and eat! So great to see them expanding!

Placed an order around 6:30pm on ubereats .said to expect delivery between 7:15/7:30 only arrived at 8 o'clock . We ordered a pizza ,lasagne,chips and mozzarella/halloumi strips and a bottle of DIET irn-bru what we received was pizza ,burger , jalapeno bites and chips and normal irn-bru. When phoned to let them know they sent a lasagne which was received after an hour from phoning so completion of order from start to finish took two and a half hours and the lasagne received looked like something out of my colostomy bag will not be ordering again

Came to this place on a Saturday afternoon was very quiet and not much of an atmosphere, ordered food which was nice but could of done myself at home for cheaper and presentation could of been much better, pizza was definitely frozen which was disappointing, onion rings were nice and crispy, wings were good nice hot n spicy even though I asked for bbq

Typische Kneipe um die Ecke im Arbeiterviertel Gorgie, besucht von Stammkunden, keine Touristen, Sport im Fernsehen läuft ständig. Freundliche Atmosphäre. Leider ist die Küche geschlossen. Man bekommt ein anständiges Bier hier. Kein Problem, allein hineinzugehen, auch als Frau nicht. Free WLan. Die Kneipe könnte eine Renovierung gebrauchen.

Just along the road from tynecastle and through sainsburys from murrayfield this bar caters for both sports. So even tho a more hearts and football pub they were good enough to show the rugby in the back room on a big screen. Worth a pop in when the likes of the roseburn is heaving. Reasonable beer and really friendly and incredibly quick bar service.

Myself and husband nipped into Jessie Mays after the Scotland/Wales match on Saturday 9th March. We were waiting for a solid 20 minutes before being served, which, I do not mind as it was busy, but I watched 1 barman with dark hair walk past us at least 5 times before serving us, even though we had been waiting at the bar longer than most already being served and having a drink. We finally got served and moved away from the bar to let a group of 4 in to order. The man ordering asked the same barman who had walked past us several times if the England/Italy match would be going on the TV. It was pretty clear to see 95% of the people in this pub had either been at Murrayfield or were looking to watch the next 6 nations game. I overheard the man being told by the very rude barman 'No, the footballs staying on, you'll have to watch the rugby elsewhere'. I wasn't sure if I had heard this correctly as I couldn't believe someone serving customers would talk to a customer in such a way but alas, there was more tooing and frowing, the barman became very agitated and angry and began swearing at the customer! At that point, another female barmaid came along to try and defuse the situation.. which clearly worked very well as the group of 4 walked out! Genuinely couldn't believe the level of service, have never seen anything like it at a pub in Edinburgh after the rugby, and I live in Edinburgh! On knowing the rugby would not be shown at this pub and watching the terrible service, we quickly finished our drinks and followed suit of the customers who'd felt it necessary to leave. Such a shame as it is a nice pub, but will we be back? I think not and i wouldn’t recommend.

Popped in for a post-rugby beer following the Scotland v Wales game which I'd attended at Murrayfield. Place was packed and the England v Italy game was about to kick off. Waited an age to get served then asked the worlds most surly barman if the rugby would be shown to be told no. The place was overflowing with rugby fans. A long and protracted argument ensued with this server/barman/hostile employee and we left, found another pub and had a great time. Been a rugby fan all my life and attended hundreds of games, this is the only time I've had an argument with anyone, if you read either on here or Facebook there are tons of complaints about the staff, owner really needs to take a look at his staff, they are dreadful. Wouldn't send my enemy here and can only hope the visiting fans read this as I'd actually be embarrassed if they thought this pub was representative of Scottish people.

Enjoyed the clientele. A good local pub but the music chased us away. Bartender played a couple good requests that were out of the pop rotation but otherwise only played club music to a a pub of older clientele who clearly enjoyed non-pop music. Would appreciate more consideration of clientele and would love to make it our local. Will try again another day and see hat happens.

I first visited this bar in Nov 2017 when attending a rugby match at nearby Murrayfield. At that time you could book a table for lunch, which was good quality for the price. I have continued to go there before attending matches at Murrayfield even though you can no longer reserve a lunch, but instead very tasty and good sized burgers are cooked whilst you are having a drink. The last two Saturdays (10th and 17th Nov) we have traveled up from Dumfries and been to Jessie Mays for a pint and a burger. On 17th Nov I double checked that similar arrangements were in place for the 24th and burgers would be available at lunch time. I was assured this was the case. I was therefore most annoyed no food was available until at least 1.45pm because the kitchen were too busy catering for a private party. This meant there was no food available for anyone attending the rugby, and a number of people left to find food elsewhere. It is quite wrong not only to give incorrect information in advance about what is available and when but to desert regular customers and look after a private party instead is a very unprofessional and disappointing way of dealing with members of the public.

Decent pint but it's trying to be a gastro pub but hasn't managed to get rid of many of the old clientel who tend to bring the place down on occasions.

My family love it here. The food is great and from mon to wed you get 1plus1 pizza. Veggie pizza is super veggie check out the pic! if u want healthy pizza go to JessieMays - or order all meat if u want meat like my husband. . They have various tap beer. I recommend Heverlee. They changed the menu few days ago.

Me and my boyfriend were coming back from a bike tour and we were looking for a quiet place to drink a pint. We had already seen that pub several times before and then we decided to try it. The pub is not too big, there are two main rooms. It is very clean and tidy, with two big tv screens for sports matches. Beers are cheap and they have also gluten free one. In the main menu you can also find some gluten free options. The staff was welcoming and warm, always smiling. We spent really good time there, chatting with other people but also having time just for ourselves. They have two special deals during the week for now: pizza evening (take two, pay one) and steaks evening. Their website is good, you can check there whatever you want, from menus to pictures. You can also have the chance of doing breakfast. Good prices for good quality. We will come back without any doubt.

This place employs horrible, insulting and racist bar staff. Stand Up To Racism Edinburgh have been informed with a view to organising a picket and leafleting in Gorgie.

Not the best place in the world tbh. Some the staff could do with lessons in public relations too. No time for bigots.

I will never visit this place again after my good friend was insulted by the racist bigoted barman and I would recommend everyone avoids it. 😡

Racist establishment who actively agrees with bombing children in other countries, complete with foul language and slurs as per an overheard argument between staff and a patron. Disgusted. Avoid this place like the plague.

Jessie May's had a lot of potential when it changed from The Station but sadly it feels it hasn't fulfilled this. It's still the best bar on Gorgie Rd for drink and food (2-4-1 pizzas hit the spot) but there are better pubs for drinks within a 15 min walk

Decent beer including at least one cask ale (at time of writing) and above average pub grub. Probably best avoided on football days as it's crowded and service is naturally a lot slower than usual.

Sind dabei auf Jessies Mays Bar & Kitchen gestoßen. Es gibt dort diverse Biersorten u.a. Corona, Desperados, Peroni, Ale usw. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und der Herr an der Theke hat sich gut um uns gekümmert. Wir haben ein Essensangebot wahr genommen welches an diesem Tag galt. 2 Pizzen zum Preis von 1. Das war super, wir bestellten 4 diverse Pizzas. Die Wartezeit war akzeptabel und ok. Wir konnten uns unterhalten, unsere super gekühlten Biere trinken und nebenbei Nachrichten auf einem großen Screen sehen. Die Pizzen wurden uns von Koch gebracht. Diese waren auch gut und am Rand knusprig. Wir haben etwas nachgesalzen (was ok ist, denn lieber salzt jeder nach seinem Geschmack nach, bevor es versalzen aus der Küche kommt). Wir würden nochmal hingehen.

Good beer and is excellent for a evening meal, and I can honestly say that I've eaten &drank there and it's amazing

But it was a terrible for me and for my friends. 1) We are seven people and when we arrived there, the chef asked if we have had a booking. My answer was no (I didn't know if I had to do it. It's not my fault) and the chef didn't like it. I could see it in his face... 2) When we made our orders (pizzas), the chef also didn't like it and said it would be too many pizzas for us. Well, I think I decide the quantity of food or drink I want, don't you agree? After that, we almost gave up and decided to leave the place, but we stayed. 3) The pizzas were ok and the chef told us we should book tables because he didn't like to make people wait for food, trying to get around the situation. Lame Excuse. 4) At the counter, to pay our bills, we said we would like to split the bill in seven (easy to calculate), the waitress said "F*** hell. Then, my friend asked why the staff were treating us so bad, the waitress said she was bad with calculation. Lame excuse again. Well, we left the place and we'll NEVER go back there again. Food was ok but with this TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, nobody should go there anymore. DON'T GO.
