Costa Coffee in Edinburgh, City of

i see the store is closing soon and i can see why, I was attended by “G” and it was very impolite and impatient with me and my friends. The food was good but not great.

Very unpleasant staff, there was a girl who did not care about the customers at all. Ordered a cookie dough milkshake, paid for medium and I got a small - The staff did not do anything. The only good thing was the views

I arrived at 10:30 and they no longer had a croissant to offer with the breakfast offering, there was not much more variety to choose from, a latte was a bit basic, the quality was lacking.

It was busy but the staff were friendly and the service was good. The hot drinks and cookie I had were tasty. Unfortunately, every sanitary bin in the ladies toilets were overflowing causing an awful smell. Women in the toilets were talking about how bad it was. Not at all pleasant and quite unhygienic.

Fantastic!! Spectacular location and views. Lots of variety of pastries and sandwiches for breakfast and/or snack. Plus, everything is delicious! It is located on the first floor, accessed by stairs. There is no elevator. It occupies an entire glass corner from where you can see Princess Street and Hanover Street. Prices similar to any other coffee chain in Edinburgh. Excellent attention!

Impossible to access toilets. Need to input a code in a dark lobby with no lighting. When you getting the gents the cubicle is broken. Welcome to broken derelict Costa, worthy of a third world country

We came today and Katrina was so nice and cheerful, really just put a smile on my face 😊

It is always busy here, which is logical because it is a busy shopping street. But people can be more proactive here with cleaning the tables and surroundings. Because several tables were dirty, I asked if they could be cleaned and fortunately the response was positive.

Standard Costa, so we knew what to expect, but in that regard, it was fine, clean, quick service, efficient, and well stocked

new favourite study spot. the workers are so kind, shop is clean and very cosy !! extra points for the view 🤩

Typical Costa but with a view of the Castle and Museum. The downside is that this cafe is never warm when cold outside. If you need to warm up, go elsewhere.

The customer service here was great. The staff who served me and made my drink were lovely. Also, I didn't wait long. My strawberry and cream frappé was delicious. Also, has a brilliant view of Princes Street.

I went to visit the shop today and had probably the single worst customer service ever. It seemed like the staff did not want to be there, nor did it seem like they wanted to serve. When i asked for my coffee it wasnt in a nice manner, it was blunt and felt incredibly forced. When my coffee was made, i had no idea who was serving me and the coffee was slammed in front of me causing the coffee to fly out of the lid and land on my jacket. I work in customer service in Edinburgh and i have never and will never treat any customers this way. I also was not asked if there was anything else i needed and felt rushed out of the shop. I eventually got what i asked for however but it was the manner of which I it was given to me. I was already having a rough day and I'll be honest, that nearly made me cry. Thanks a lot.

Costalot - of cash (as the card machine never seems to work) This place isn't as good as most costas, 2 flights of stairs just to get into the shop and if you need the toilet, you'll have to walk up another flight of stairs and input a code (that you can only get by making a purchase). The toilets are dark and filthy with no hand soap, so I can see why they're hidden from non paying customers. Seeing the state of them would make you not spend a penny. On a positive note, the biscoff cheesecake was spot on, and so was the hot milkshake. The watermelon cooler was nice and refreshing. Staff were really nice and patient, and the view is stunning. For these reasons this costa is worthy of 3 stars.

Drinks were good although a little too sweet. One barista rubbed his elbow hair all over the coffee cups. I don’t expect this kind of behaviour from an adult! Please train your baristas well next time!

Costa Smosta. Rip off cafe Bang in central Edinburgh. Understaffed and chaotic at times. The only saving grace is the view. Staff are great, sadly used to their limits.

After ordering, I tried to pay with my card, and the device said it was declined, and tried another time to pay around £30. After checking my bank account, it turned out they charged me twice!

Todo cierra temprano en Edimburgo y es de los pocas cafeterías que cierra un poco más tarde. Todo el servicio estuvo bien, normal (sabor, atención y ambiente). Tiene una ubicación céntrica dentro de la New Town con vistas agradables. Es una cafetería amplia y espaciosa, no tiene un encanto especial, una franquicia moderna.

All you expect from a bustling Costa and this one has the added bonus of a marvellous view of busy Princes Street (watching the world go by was never easier) and the stunning back drop of Edinburgh Castle makes this Costa the perfect place for that Sunday morning Bacon Roll & Cuppa, both of which were yummy! 🤩

More atmosphere than your average Costa with great views.

This Costa serves smooth, strong coffee along with great views as it is located in the first floor. There are quite a few stairs to get to it and the toilets are on the floor above, so beware of climbing stairs is difficult for you.

Nice and cosy place with a spectacular view on Edinburgh Castle. Unfortunately, does not provide an Internet access.

It's okay, but not great compared even to other Costas. Three view is nice and there are many seats which are usually occupied. Main issue here is that somehow the till machine seems to keep messing up many times and slow service down. One time I had to pay cash because the machine totally failed. Also, there's no WiFi here at all, never.

Great views of Edinburgh - stairs to enter, further stairs for WC. If u can manage stairs give it a go

I was having a lovely cuppachino and nice enjoying the view but once again spoilt by some Edinburgh couple speaking about my red face they are the worst in the world with there insults they need help so I left but the staff are very nice and never comment I love Costa it's my favourite.JUST A PITY ABOUT THE CLIENTELE.

Went in for a quick takeaway coffee, manager (short hair) was so incredibly condescending to staff. Overheard the manager being rude to customers at till too. Staff appeared uncomfortable behind the counter, they deserve better treatment. At the very least, basic respect. Not a friendly or welcoming atmosphere at all due to this one individual, would recommended absolutely patching the Costa to avoid a negative experience.

Best coffee in Prince's Street. With good views of the Castle and old Edinburgh.

Served by a surly young bloke who took a negative view of me asking for the toilet code (asking twice) Very surly attitude and more or less threw the cheesecake onto the plate.

Was in today at 12:30ish (02/08/2023) , great service from everyone behind the till, however the blonde female barista with short hair was extremely rude and talking down to her two co workers who were on the till and on the coffee machine. Made me and other customers very uncomfortable and felt really sorry for the other members of staff who don’t deserve to come to work and be spoken down to like that. She was totally out of order.

When I visited I was amazed at how well the team all worked together and multitasked plus they seemed to have a lovely banter between them. The meet and greet was very welcoming and although very busy I was served and sat down within a couple of minutes.

There were issues in the morning with the tills which card & gift cards weren't working. 2 staff members on trying to help take orders, make food/drink & explain to customers the issues. They ended up having to give customers free food/drinks. The staff members asked for help from the manager who's response was I'm not IT, phone them yourself and take cash only until it works itself out. This put more stress on the 2 staff working which was unnecessary. Maybe look at a training plan for the manager. Witnessing that made it an unpleasant visit

One of the worst made latte. No art. The guy put all the milk and after the coffee with a single shot. A latter is 3 shots of coffee in a big cup after you push the milk not the milk after the coffee. I tell the guy I wasn't satisfied and he tells me that how we do at Costa. I know Costa from a long time and I have never ever have a coffee and a customer service like this.

Came here for a coffee with my partner. No tables were clean . Plenty staff walking about however extremely concerning tables were being cleared but not cleaned

Fui a tomar un café rápido para llevar. Llegar a ordenar nuestras bebidas tomó años, haciéndolos tomar aún más tiempo, e hicieron mi pedido con leche normal primero en lugar de la leche de soja que pedí. Ni siquiera estaba ocupado y estaban bien atendidos, por lo que la falta de organización y el tiempo que llevó obtener nuestros cafés fue simplemente ridículo. Los cafés eran realmente muy sabrosos una vez que los recibimos, de ahí la calificación de 2 estrellas. Hubiera sido un 1 de lo contrario.

I went twice, once in the morning and once in the late afternoon. Two different sets of staff and two uniquely friendly experiences. The morning barista wasn’t sure how to make my drink but her colleague was on hand to assist. Great teamwork from great staff.

Llamé aquí el lunes con mi otra mitad mientras estaba en Edimburgo. . acabamos de hacer la excursión en autobús turístico y nos estábamos congelando y siendo grandes familias de Costa vinimos aquí para tomar una taza y calentarnos. Pedimos té y galletas con trozos de chocolate que tuve que preguntarle a la camarera por 4 veces y ella no tenía idea de lo que quería incluso después de señalar la galleta. . . daba la impresión de que no podía molestarse en estar allí y era realmente ignorante. Mi galleta era deliciosa y el té estaba bien, aunque la suciedad era evidente en el pico de la tetera. El café en sí podría haber hecho una buena limpieza. Nunca tuve una mala experiencia en un café de Costa antes, pero esto fue horrible. . . no podía salir lo suficientemente rápido y seguro para decir que no volveremos! !

Nos gustaba ir a Costa en la calle George antes de que cerrara. Hoy visitamos la sucursal en la esquina de la calle Princes. Las vistas desde las ventanas (sucias) eran geniales, y el café bien. Espresso en cappuccino prima van smaak. De volgende keer zou ik een kleine cappuccino nemen, de medium was me wel wat te veel.Croissants zeer middelmatig.....dat was jammer. Vriendelijk personeel.

Desearía haber tomado algunas fotos para mostrar lo mal que se manejó esta Costa cuando visitamos hoy a la hora del almuerzo. Si bien podríamos ser considerados fanáticos de Costa, fue una decepción total. Mesas sin limpiar por todos lados, baños repugnantes con un cubo debajo del urinario. Un anuncio realmente malo para Costa y un anuncio realmente malo para Edimburgo. No volveré a visitar nunca más. ¡Ni siquiera una estrella, pero no puedo hacer menos!

Enjoyed a huge mug (so large it has two handles) of coffee, hit the spot after traveling from the US. Service is quick and pleasant and the views of Edinburgh Castle are amazing. Picked this as our morning coffee stop!

This is one of the best costa's a busy place but very efficient great views from the window seats and fab Latte. Visited for years and always consistent well done.

Went here for a coffee, we had a flat white and a Cortado both of which were good. Views from the restaurant are fantastic. Service was good but toilets need a good clean - see photo.

As a loyal Costa customer who has explored many of the cafes throughout UK and Ireland this was one of my favourites.

For this coffee shop you need to climb up some steps but it is worthwhile an effort when you enjoy an excellent espresso. All baristas are friendly.

We had the lunch offer: toast with ham and cheese, black tee, and a piece of fruit, 5 £ (6 euro), nice and tasty. Self service. Clean toilets.

We stopped here to grab a pastry for breakfast as it was right next to our hotel. They did not have a large selection of pastries, but I bought a scone and it was quite good. The cashier was nice and friendly. Good for a quick stop in in the morning.

I absolute adore all the different Christmas hot chocolates that costa have to offer. So much selection and absolutely lovely drinks. However, there drinks are impeccable but staff aren't very friendly!

This our favourite place to enjoy a big and quite good cappuccino. My favourite is the one with almond milk with some cinnamon or vanilla on the top. We sit at the table and stay for a chat. Busy place, good to meet friends especially in a rainy day. Cool!!!

Came in here after wondering around the Christmas market. Store was clean, tidy and had plenty of tasty Christmas cakes and sandwiches to choose from. Staff were lovely and friendly which is always nice to see. Well worth a visit if you are in Edinburgh

Dropped in for a speciality Christmas drink and after queuing we were dismissively told they had none left. Why is it not blocked off the menu to save people the wasted time for queuing and not particularly pleasant attitude from staff. We left and got it with a completely different attitude on George Street.

Sin embargo, cuando vengo a establecimientos como Costa, quiero relajarme en un entorno libre de ruido relativo. Ahora, aprecio el ruido del público en general, lo entiendo. Normalmente me desconectaría mientras leo mi libro. Good service and I didn't have to wait too long and was given with a smile that seemed to be genuine.

My family and I grabbed a quick coffee and hot chocolate here before hitting the sights of Edinburgh. It is conveniently located, you have amazing scenic views to take in, and you get your drinks quickly.

Although the food is good,but still keeping the napkins from us, the toilets are not very clean,the sink needs abottle of bleach bleach down, this place takes a lot of money please keep the toilets clean , it's not nice to Go in.

Stopped here for morning coffee. We both had flat white coffee’s which were good and a salted caramel muffin it was so tasty. The toilets were kept spotless clean.

Tras un día de excursion, una parada obligada. Unos dulces deliciosos (el pastelito millonaire, una pasada!!) sentados detras del ventanal con vista panoramica al viejo Edimburgo.

Vale la pena parar a tomar un café para coger fuerzas, vistas al castillo día soleado ... nos hemos tomado el postre súper típico de aquí “millieoner chocolat” y está rico, pediros el café pequeño que el mediano es enorme !

Yo vivo en Edimburgo y he estado yendo a este Costa casi cada día, ya que es básicamente en mi puerta. Desgraciadamente es cada vez peor y peor. El personal es bastante grosero y arsy y no te sientes bienvenido.

Este lugar es una cafetería agradable para sentarse y ver los autobuses, tranvías y turismo ir de la gran fachada de ventanas en la planta 1 calle. Acceso desde la calle es a través de la puerta de cristal y algunas estrechas 'ish pasos tot eh primera planta.

We been here a couple of times every time we come to Edinburgh the coffee is perfect every time and cakes are pleasant too. And views are great to pass time.
