Cafe Miro in Edinburgh, City of

I visited for breakfast with my family. We had egg on toast with salmon, fresh salad, and the coffee was absolutely delicious. Everything was amazing, and I definitely recommend this spot for breakfast. Plus, it’s dog-friendly—I love that I can bring my dog along and then head straight to the beach to enjoy a beautiful morning.

I had the avocado toast with poached eggs and Halloumi. It was excellent! I also had a decaf mocha which was also excellent. Highly recommend for breakfast or brunch!

Tasty food but the service was pretty rubbish - the food took 20 mins, I'd ask for an update and wouldn't get an answer back, and then they brought the food and the server had ordered a side portion instead of a main. They said they could swap it but after 20 mins wait and no apology I couldn't be bothered.

Best mango sorbet by far , the scoops are ridiculous big , Loved it.

We went for lunch and unfortunately I dropped half of my coffee less than a minute after I got served. The waiters saw it and one of them asked me if I wanted another one and I said yes. I waited a long time and never got another coffee. I had to ask for one again... and when I got the bill they had charged me £7,60 for the two coffees, one that I hadn't drink and the second one that I thought it was a gesture of good will. I will not come back, it's bloody expensive and they clearly do not care about their customers

Very cosy, family run, dog and child friendly. Best Cullen Skink around, they do pancakes and ice cream in the summer, many happy visits spent with a six year old reading from their sharing library, the place is part of me now.

Great breakfast again here this morning. Couldnt sit outside with weather as we normally do but lovely and cozy inside. Breakfast rolls, hot, freshly cooked and filling. Good sized fresh coffee. Usual friendly waiter providing good service. Excellent value 🥰.

Met friends here for lunch and we had a table near the window with a lovely view out to the water. Food was delicious and service could not be faulted. This was my first visit and I am making plans to return soon. Highly recommended

I was very upset today by the staff at Miro's Village Musselburgh, living in Musselburgh not many places in Musselburgh are wheelchair friendly, but Miros is, I tell my friends and Family its great food, n support this café, but today I had the worst experience you can ever image with the staff, I asked my family to meet me there for lunch, as they were coming from school , first they opened the door for me, I asked to use the toilet, normally they say ok, but on this accassion I was told the toilet was only for customers, I knew I was going to have lunch with my family there anyway, so I just went straight to the toilet, after I transferred n sat down , I was given a menu, I asked for 4 as my Family's coming too, not a problem the staff gave me 3 more, my Daughter arrived first, who ordered Mc n cheese few minutes later, my Son arrived who ordered Mc n chesse too then my Husband arrived after he managed to park the car, he ordered cullun skink soup and i ordered the Mussaka which I love, but I cut through it as I notice it was very watery not the usual, so I told the staff that it was watery no tomatoes, didn't taste the same she asked if I wanted another, or anything else I said "no its OK, I'll just share from my family thank you", when we finished, my Daughter went to pay, as I went to the toilet came back I looked at the receipt, I was charged for the Mussaka, I thought they made a mistake so I went to the till to explain that I didn't have the Mussaka, I returned it back, first the guy said that it's because you had a bit out of it, I said it wasn't right, so I sent it back, I said to the lady who served she said "yes it was watery and I asked if you wanted something else you said no", the guy said we were told to charge you because you've already had some, I said ,if I hadn't of tasted the mussaka I wouldnt of known it was that bad. Ive had this dish before and thoroughly enjoyed , thats why I chose it for lunch on this occasion. Only this time it was watery I even shown the lady who served us , she also agree by looking at it, she piped up and said you do this everytime you come here you always do this, I was so upset! I couldn't believe they wouldn't give my money back for something that never even had, I remembered the time I had to send it back because, they put Mozerella cheese n not parhamsan cheese because they ran out again it didn't taste the same so I returned it back, I asked the lady who served me "would you eat something that you wasn't happy with she replied No I wouldn't " I said "well, that's exactly what's happened here". I can tell the difference between this dish as I have had it serveral times. They both argued with me! Today I was very upset, I think the girl called Jasmine, she was the one who served me yesterday, I was there for breakfast again with a friend I had ordered cullun skink soup it was delicious, they said I do that everytime I come that was not true! which i was very upset , also my Son couldn't eat his food I asked if I could take it away please, so she gave me a take away box, if I do this all the time, I still paid for my Son's food that he couldn't eat! I had to put up a fight when it was Jasmine kindly who give me back my money, I was told we will not be doing this again, as a paying customer, this was appalling behaviour from 2 of the staff members very rude, I was very very upset that I cryed most of the day!

Miros is a cozy restaurant in front of Portobello beach. Their menu is very varied and has generous portions. What really stood out without a doubt was the attention of their waitress Adele. She has been really very kind, friendly and decisive with us. Your attention has made our stay in Miros a delightful experience!!!

Miro's On The Prom provided a cosy spot for a quick and relaxing break along the seaside. We enjoyed a selection of warm beverages: tea, cappuccino, and hot chocolate. Each drink was well-prepared and satisfying, offering just the right touch of comfort as we enjoyed the beach views. The hot chocolate was rich and creamy, the cappuccino had a smooth and balanced flavour, and the tea was served perfectly. The staff were friendly and attentive, creating a welcoming atmosphere that added to our experience. Although we only tried the drinks, the ambiance and beachfront setting were inviting, making it a lovely spot to pause and unwind. For a peaceful stop with scenic views and a warm drink, Miro's On The Prom is highly recommended. A five-star experience for a delightful seaside break.

Este lugar es decente para tomar café, pero ten cuidado con la comida que pides. Los pasteles son agradables, pero la comida del plato principal es un poco golpe y fallido. Tuve los nachos de chile picante mexicano por 15 libras; parecían bastante insípidos. Queso barato en ellos que se había acabado - derretido y seco, y guacamole de una botella exprimible. La crema agria estaba bien. Creo que el pescado está un poco mejor. Probablemente me quede con pastel y café si voy en el futuro.

Very good restaurant by the sea!

We ordered two Seafood udon dishes. One was uneditable, had a weird and strong vinegar taste. The other has mussels that were not right. They did replace one and that tasted okay. The table was only cleared when we left, so were smelling the seafood dishes all the time after we were done.

The Staff here, need to learn some manners! Saying ..."Is this for her ? " instead of " Is this for the Lady ? " is ignorant and arrogant ! Trying to remove plates from the table before food is finished, is also ignorant and impatient! Not stopping other customers to allow their Dogs to actually sit on the table is unhygienic! ( they don't see a problem with this ? or just don't notice ? ) Nasty impatient and arrogant staff. These people are up themselves and need a few lessons on the basics of running a business!

I had the chilli and king prawns pasta and my husband had the halloumi wrap with chips and salad, both delicious. We had the soup of the day as well, vegetable soup, it wasn’t the best soup, but it was good. I would definitely go back to eat there and the location is lovely. If you get the chance to sit by the window even better, the view is amazing. I would recommend.

I had a terrible experience at this café. The staff was extremely unfriendly, with unpleasant expressions on their faces. We had to wait a long time for someone to come to our table and ended up having to call over a waiter ourselves because he was completely ignoring us. The cake we ordered was very dry. I do not recommend this place at all and will not be coming back."

The food is fairly average, maybe a little below average. There was a hair in the garlic bread. I'd like to add that Miro's has a van parked outside of someone's house in Mountcastle without their approval, for free advertising. Cozy and warm atmosphere at the beach with the most delicious rose berry ice cream you can ever try. This is my first time in Scotland and I will definitely return back to this place when ever I could 🤍

Found the salad was a bit too vinegary for my palate. One meal was sent back, replacement and apology offered and dealt with. Unfortunately just didn't really enjoy our experience. But staff were great and food looked amazing and it's a really popular venue.

Didn't even eat here in the end. We were seated at a table and then handed menus. We were then asked quite rudely to move to another table. We waited and waited on someone to approach us but they never did. It was a busy day so we gave them the benefit of the doubt and waited a bit longer. We then got someone's attention to try and order she then said she would be back in 2 mins. She proceded to ask another table how their food was then walked away back to the counter area and didn't come back. When she did reappear she had a bowl of water for a dog at another table and ignored us again. After being there for ages and being treated in this rude manner we decided to leave and get food elsewhere. Wouldn't go back as staff are very rude and don't seem to care

Had an absolutely terrible time here this morning. The staff were all incredibly rude and short to us. It took half an hour to receive our coffees and an hour and fifteen minutes to receive our food (the staff kept telling us it was almost ready once we pointed this out to them but I honestly think our food hadn’t even started to be cooked). When the food came it was stone cold and I was missing part of my meal. The food was undercooked, cold, and overpriced. We asked if we could get a discount considering the above and were told that they don’t do discounts. Terrible service, so sad to see such a nice restaurant go downhill.

We had breakfast here. We had a table next to the sand, which is great on a sunny day. Not so great were the pancakes, which tasted like they been made earlier and the re-warmed. Not light and fluffy - more like dense and stiff. Disappointing overall.

Nice enough place, good location. Went twice in the space of a week - service was a bit... Meh?! Food and drinks were nice. Pricey, but then Portie has gone a bit gentrified over the last decade.

Food’s nice but the service makes me feel disappointed. The waitress knocked down my partner’s milkshake when serving the food, but she didn’t say anything and just walked away chatting with other staff. She just watching us clean the mess ourselves……

Terrible breakfast, everything was cold, the bacon was gray fatty and undercooked, black pudding was rock hard, I had two eggs one was snotty and the other was hard,

Don’t join the queue for crepes if you can see them having a few cheques to be done. Crepes were fine, but definitely doesn’t worth the time waiting. The guy who was making the crepes somehow decided to make eight portions in a row, and then started to serve. I spent 10 mins waiting to order my crepe, around 15-20 mins waiting for him to finish the previous order, and another 20 mins to finish these 8 crepes. So with all the time adding up, I waited for 45-50 mins for one crepe, which was absurd.

I was served questionable mussels today and the delusional Turkish owner or manager whichever he was, kept insisting that they were fresh. When I tried to explain that fresh mussels rarely have a strong fishy and pungent smell, he said that they were very busy but that the mussels were fresh then suddenly walked away mid conversation and still charged me for it after i refused to eat more than one. He then made a point of asking another employee in front of me if the mussels were fresh because (pointed at me) that guest says they are not. The fact that he told me they were fresh before he asked the sourcing employee was hilarious! I urge everyone to avoid this place, the safety concerns are only matched by the manager’s obnoxious attitude and refusal to accept advice or constructive criticism.

Ordered takeaway chicken kebab. They never called my name, so my food sat for a while before I found it was ready at the counter. The kebab was extremely dry, not at all pleasant to eat. The tzaziki was in a thin paper dish that completely disintegrated under the moisture. The chips were okay, and the only redeeming aspect. I wouldn't have been happy with this meal at £5, let alone the £15 they charged. It's location is prime for the beach on a nice day, but just keep in mind that's what you'll be paying a premium for - not the food.

I paid £7.00 for a chocolate milkshake. I was thinking it will come nicely served in a glass with maybe whipped cream and sprinkles, but it looks like something from Costa. After consuming it I now have a very bad stomach ache with loose bowels. And I am on holiday in Edinburgh. Guys, just go to Costa or Starbucks. Maybe this place needs to improve on food hygiene.

A lovely place on the promenade. We went on a Sunday and it was very busy but they found us a table right away. After we ordered we did have a bit of a wait before our food came. The kids menu was very good value for money. Our daughter got the fish and chips (which was very substantial), a drink and ice cream all for £7.49. However, the adult sized fish and chips was not much larger but more than twice the price at £17!! The chips were lovely though and giving it 4 stars because the batter was soggy and claggy and not crispy. The best things are their cakes. They have a lovely selection and all look home made and delicious.

I don't recommend fish and chips, raw breading, when I complained they made me pay extra for it....

Beautiful place on the sea front overlooking the beach. Easy access for everybody with tables inside and directly next to the sea wall outside. Nice menu with quality ingredients cooked to perfection. Would definitely recommend a stop here if you're hungry and in the area.

The owner was very rude. I went to buy a coffee and then went to use the bathroom I was then yelled at by two employees after one said i could go then when I came out of the bathroom I was interrogated by the owner who rudely ask d if I had bought something and then told go you buy now I felt bad for the rest of the employees who apologized when he did the same thing to my friends later on. he then proceeded to stand guard at the door all evening . Will not be coming back. If you serve food and drink you legally have to let people who come in to use the bathroom

A 5 star gelato experience! We got two with a scoop each for only 5£, Butterscotch and vanilla, both delicious! Great outdoor sitting area too.

Great place if you like your poached eggs hard boiled and your haggis straight out of the fridge. Sourdough was drier than a nun’s snatch and coffee tasted absolutely rancid.

We tried mussel in white wine sauce, haggis fritters and cullen skink. All of them was hearty and delicious. Staff were friendly. Price/performation ratio is awesome.

Really great food, the menu is best suited if you want one course. It's not a 3 course kind of place. The food is fantastic though, very generous portions and not overly expensive.

Absolutely the weirdest policy ever instated: only kids can have 2 scoops of ice cream on a cone 🤷 i tried to translate as i could not believe this new policy. Then got drsgged in a greek-turkish conflict that is none of my business. I just wanted ice cream. Also being threatend that i would need to take it to her manager. Talking about having a bad day. We just wanted 1 cone with 2 scoops of ice cream. Then also shocked when the lady put the scoop of milk containing icecream in the mango sorbet to mix the 2 flavours. What about the kids with milk intolerance? No right on ice cream for them obviously... and mine was years ago. The weirdest experience ever. But it did take me to the coffee shop on the next corner when my daughter joined and discovered more flavours, friendly staff and no weird 1 scoop company policies.

After being soaked through today, we wanted a warm dinner. Their Cullen Skink was marvelous as well as their calamari. Staff was friendly and helpful. We also picked up desserts to bring home. Highly recommend!

Nice food right on the Portobello promenade. It was still cold when we visited that day so some hot soup and haggis fritters were more suitable than ice cream. lol Good selection of cakes, too, perhaps for another visit.

We both got the fish and chips. The fish was lovely don't get me wrong. The chips on the other hand.. there was about 20 chips per plate, they were not chunky, more fries, and burnt.

Service was quick and responsive but food was bland and overpriced. Fish batter was too doughy and barely cooked. Prawn pasta had 4 bits of prawn which lasted 25 percent of the meal. Ice cream scoops cost 2.50 each each and they're tiny. Like the size of conker. There were not many ice cream choices. Chips were overcooked "fries". 50 quid for a meal for 2. One course each. Go somewhere else. Coop meal deals far nicer and way cheaper

Miro’s on The Prom , should be Miro’s on the Con ! 2 coffees and a piece of tray bake £12.45! The tray bakes on the counter are not priced which should have set alarm bells off but it turned out one piece was £4.95, what a rip off ! The coffees were £3.80 & £3.70 , they were nothing special and the Flatwhite was tiny. A group of bikers turned up and when saw the prices said )£&@ “?!; and left so we were not the only ones who thought it was a bit pricey. The two guys serving were slow and laughing at customers all the time so obviously find everything funny as they line their pockets. There are plenty of other places to get a coffee on the Prom including the Citroen Van so please look around !

Cozy little cafe with a nice view of the beach. Service was quick and friendly. Cappucino and cullen skink were lovely. Only feedback I'd give is that the cullen skink could have done with a little more potato and touch of fresh herbs like parsley but overall happy with the service.

Very misleading and dishonest. The prices on the menu are not what you pay for, they don’t include VAT. When you get the bill at the end you get charged extra 20% VAT. VAT should be included on the prices in the menu so customer knows what they’re paying in the first place.

Lovely food, friendly service. We've been here a few times. The food is very nice and they have always been very accommodating of my 2 small kids. Last time I was in they helped me find somewhere to put the buggy when it was busy and were very careful to keep anything hot away from the kids. The kids meal is also good. Nice view of the sea too

We went in for lunch today it was very busy but we managed to get a seat outside. The girl took our orders so we ordered a starter and a main and kids meal. They brought all the food out together, when we said about the mains being cold as we had to have our starter they said the kitchen was busy and could not keep our mains warm. Anyway that got sorted then it started to rain and instead of moving us with food inside the said to people with drinks so I asked if we could go in and yes there was a table so that was fine. When the mains came my carbonara was bland had no flavour what so ever. We will definitely not be back. We now live in Portobello and it was very disappointing the food was so bland.

Located at a really great spot directly opposite portobello beach, this restaurant is a convenient pick for dinner! I came primarily for fish and chips, and while it was steeply priced at £15, the portion was quite big. That being said, the fish itself was underseasoned. The chips, peas, and tartar sauce that accompanied it were great - except I wish they provided an option to add vinegar and salt to the chips. Overall, this place is more so about convenience over price and taste.

A lovely, cosy place just off the promenade in Portobello with a gorgeous view of the Firth. Stopped for a little treat and a warm drink on a warm Saturday morning, there were lots of spaces available even though the area was quite busy. Vegan cakes were available, as well as a large selection of plant-based m!lks. The Alpro stash was very impressive!! The oat chai latte was lovely and delicate, perfectly accompanied by the rich vegan cake. Would definitely recommend this place for a nice cake and warm drink after a walk on the beach!

This place is always quite busy however we got a nice seat in the window to look at the views. Nice coffee, lots of choice of cakes, I went for the blueberry and lime, was lovely. The guy that took our order didn't seem interested in his work in the slightest, shuffling around the place looking like he was trying to avoid doing anything, maybe he's new, maybe he's shy but it wasn't very good customer service. The other guy who brought us our coffees had much better customer interaction. This place is dog friendly. There were about 5/6 dogs in when we were there and a couple were quite barky and unsettled, it didn't make for a very relaxing atmosphere. Maybe limiting the amount of dogs allowed in would be a good idea for those not wanting to be near dogs or put them to one section of the cafe.

Love the look, both I side and out. I would love to visit again and again however the ability to have instructions given to the serving staff replicated by the kitchen and barrista was a challenge when looking to eat Keto and have drinks a little weaker than the norm. Communication needs to be improved.

Bacon pancakes and cappuccino awful. Like a time warp to 1985. Cappuccino milk burnt bitter. Bacon fat not remotely rendered. Simply not good enough. Shop bought processed pancakes. Awful.

Flat white with coconut milk very nice, customer service as well. Toilets however are outdated and not the cleanest.

Beach front coffee and a cake. Lovely surroundings and view over the Forth. Huge selection of cakes and tasty treats. Good set menu of family favourites with a few scottish specialities. My Miro Burger was a jucy hand-made patty and perfectly cooked. Kids menu also has a good set of choices. Compact inside, ground floor, a wheelchair could be accommodated but would be tight. Staff are friendly and attentive, I watched them manage a large family group with young children well. High chairs available. Groups larger than 8 would be a challenge. Top tips: lovely open fronted ice cream stand for a quick ice cream and coffee stop. Pricey, but the quality is high, and the portions are good. It is worth it for the view and location.

This is an excellent place to eat. The food is of a good quality and there is plenty of choice. The restaurant is well staffed and the service excellent. We would recommend a visit if you are visiting Portobello. But remember to book!!
