The Dirty Martini in Edinburgh, City of

We have been there on a Fringe event. Ordered two cocktails, werent tasty, because felt just lot of lemon juice. Like a bad lemonade, but 12 pounds/each. Shame

Hired the Dirty Martini for a university awards night and honestly had the best experience. The staff were lovely throughout, from emailing beforehand to check all the details to checking everything was set up correctly on the day. I can't believe how much we got for our money and the food was incredible! So just wanted to say a big thank you to the team!

Given it 4 out of 5 because the cocktails were perfection. And service was good. That said, not sure we’d go back as we were probably the oldest people in there (Were mid 40’s) music very very loud. So more aimed at dancing than sitting to drink and chat/shout. Toilets absolutely gross, floors soaked, broken glass and no toilet roll at 10pm LOTS of 20 something year olds in there, absolute carnage 😂

Great place to visit for the drinks and food

Pre Booked a table outside in the outside ‘terrace’ at 5.30 on Saturday evening. Arrived at 5.25 - the place was horrendous. Waited 20 mins from checking in for our table which we were told was getting cleaned. Waited with around 10 other people in a covid unsecure corridor with people practically shoulder to shoulder. Got taken to the outside ‘terrace’. It was an absolute joke. A cheap marquee no patio heaters and Tables and drunk people practically sitting on top of each other. No way was there 1m distance going on there. Brought to a dirty table for 2 with 4 wooden flimsy chairs packed around it. Chairs were wet and table was dirty. The outside terrace is not an outside terrace-do not be fooled. We left before getting a drink as the 2 tables beside us had drunk people having words with each other....a great way to start your night off in edinburgh. We will not be back. The staff could not care less when we complained. The cheek actually taking a deposit in case we didn’t show up. This needs sorting out ASAP.

fantastic venue for my 80th birthday party.so special.staff were very attentive and couldn't do enough for us.excellant size for my family and friends getting together.

Visitamos el bar en un fin de semana especial y decidimos tomar una copa de vino por la tarde para celebrar. Pedimos un menú y elegimos algunos alimentos para picar. . . . . Decir que los bocados eran astronómicamente precios es un eufemismo. . . . . tres finas rebanadas de pan y un dedal de aceite, 3 aceitunas pequeñas y 2 cuartos pequeños de alcachofa y los restos de queso de un rallador. Qué estafa masiva y decepción. Seguramente, al gastar 19 en 2 copas de vino, al menos podrían ser un poco más justos con la comida. . . no pierdas tu tiempo o dinero aquí. Servicio muy promedio! ¡Gasta tu dinero donde la gente agradece los negocios y los amables! Nunca visitaré aquí de nuevo.

Upstairs in Le Monde is a lovely space away from the hustle of the larger bar downstairs and is more intimate with excellent service

This venue was booked for a hen do, average age 30. The staff were fabulous, all good fun and very friendly! That's where the pleasurable experience started to fall apart, sadly! Cocktail making classes were a laugh but the restaurant was awful! A few starters returned as cold. One table on main course and our other table hadn't been served starters! Main was delicious, but again not warm, but ate it anyway with no complaints about the quality, but could have been warmer. All desserts returned, awful! This restaurant could be so good, but chef should have more control of the kitchen. The Restaurant Manager apologised and a deduction was made to our bill and complimentary drinks given...it wasn't about being compensated, it could all have been avoided! Again the staff were lovely in the restaurant, compliments to the lovely guy with long hair who was a server, couldn't do enough, a great asset to your team!

We stopped at Lemonde for breakfast on boxing day 2018. We were the only people when we arrived so had the whole place to ourselves. Breakfast should have been simple..right! however, french toast when they arrived were cold, baked eggs in avocado were baked to death and hard, Americano coffee was weak. However, toast with butter was just fine. Staff were happy to take back the stuff but we had to get our long journey started so walked out without eating but still had to pay for some of the things. This place used to be reasonable a few years ago.  

George Street is more attractive than ever with all the Christmas decorations and being in such close proximity to the excellent Dome venue means Le Monde really has to make itself appealing. We were not staying in the hotel, just popped in for food and drinks. Well, it’s OK, that’s all I can say. Decor is nice but not great, drinks are on the expensive side and not presented in anything more than an average manner.Our bar food was overpriced and not particularly nice, pretty poor actually.

Generally nothing special. Very limited evening menu. I had classic burger which was good but not that much better than you would get from McDonald’s. staff fairly attentive. Would use again as last resort.

Whilst I appreciate the prime location, this place is over priced. The music is bland and too loud, lounge seats might as well be floor cushions they are so low, and it's all a little soulless. It's also surprising they can barely pour a Guinness given they only have three taps to master.

Went here with 4 friends for our festive meal. It was £35pp and all food was ordered in advance. The service was awful, took ages for our drinks to arrive and 45 mins for pre ordered food to come. All our starters were really good but the main Christmas dish,the turkey, was just horrendous. It barely resembled turkey was more a round blob covered in bacon and packed full of salty fatty stuffing. There was an absolutely tiny piece of turkey surrounding it that was mostly skin or processed meat. All 3 of us that ordered it left it on the plate dissected to bits and only ate the very small amount of veg that came with it. We complained to the staff who couldn’t have cared less and they didn’t apologise or anything. Definitely will not be eating here again. Was very disappointed. If it hadn’t been pre-paid I would have been refusing to pay for a main course.

So we were in Le Monde hotel before we get our train home. We had some snacks and drinks. Nice big armchairs with nice fire on. Nice blether with the waiter. Five minutes before we are due to leave. A female member of staff came over and said ‘ it’s against regulations for your wife to be sitting with her eyes closed’ . I asked what regulations and she said licensing regulations. I said I thought she was talking nonsense. Then a manager came over and reiterated we were breaking the law because Jenny had her eyes closed. My initial thought was surely it’s common in a hotel lounge for someone to be sitting with their eyes closed after eating. Anyway aforementioned manager said we couldn’t sit like this. I said I thought he was being stupid. He told me not to swear at him. I asked what swearword I used and he replied you called me stupid. That was cue for us to get up and walkout without paying. We were incredibly offended. Now if someone had come over and asked if my wife was ok I wouldn’t have thought that unreasonable. I would have said we are leaving in five minutes. I asked the waiter who looked after what he thought of the way we were treated and he said shocking. We said our protests were not a reflection on him in any way as he was a good ambassador. Interestingly there was another couple sitting across from us who said the treatment we got was appalling. The female member of staff had stuck a card on their table which was asking them to vacate their table in a little while. No mention of why to the patrons using the lounge when she put card on table. When they complained, they were told a regular comes in and expects that table. So a lounge with perhaps 8-10 tables, with two occupied, demonstrated how to offend all their customers. I still cannot believe how appalling this establishments customer care is but I will never ever, out of principle, enter that establishment again. When one satisfied customer leads to another. I cannot believe people could be so inept with customer care and communication skills. That’s regulations for you. Sleeping police no less, what next ?

街をブラブラしてたときに、たまたまディナーで利用しました。 マティーニのBARのようですが、食事ができる場所もあります 。 見た目は美味しそうでしたが、ざんねんながら、日本人の口にはあわない感じでした。

I really like this place but have to say didn't feel particularly welcomed. Staff not around when we arrived so sat down and waited for someone to arrive at the first section as you walk in. My brother went up to the bar and ordered drinks and then we pondered over the snack menu. I went up to place the order and I waited whilst one staff member stood and watched the other make a cocktail. Felt like it was a while before they even acknowledged me. I ordered food. Approx 30 minutes passed no food considering it was Stornoway black pudding scotch eggs and sweet potato fries it was an excessive time to wait. I approached another staff member to chase them up. Turns out when they looked into it the kitchen lost the ticket. We did receive an apology and £1.34 was deducted from our bill. I ordered another couple of drinks and was told they would be brought to our table which was done promptly and made a big difference to what you would expect as customer service. Food was delicious but service is key and this visit failed miserably. Such a shame. I've had a similar experience before and haven't been back in a while perhaps it's a sign. My brother and I both felt the same about the service when we discussed it having had separate interaction.

Such lovely decor. Had my hen night here 6 yrs ago to the day. Great stage. Enjoyed show.

Went here after working at fringe, took kids and friend out, took forever to get drinks, and even longer for food to be delivered, food was good when arrived but one was Luke warm, husband s steak was meant to be medium but was so rare a good slap would have revived the cow . Our table server was excellent, good manered and apologised if she was missing anything as she was new, went to bar to pay Bill and a little blond in black stood with her back to customers chatting up her male co worker, stood more than 5 minutes before he finally decided to serve me, do not think we will be back in a hurry.

Sunday afternoon we looked in to the ground floor entrance bar, it was quiet. We Walked in unnoticed picked a table, that was marked reserved so moved on to another table and sat down. This table was covered with newspapers glasses wine bucket and various other debris including liquid rolling around it. We browsed the drinks menu while observing the two men behind the bar chatting, drinking (probably water) and really enjoying each other’s company. They did not however pay any attention to the job they were being paid to do so after about 15 minutes we decided they did not want our business and we upped and left. This supposedly trendy bar is just a shadow of its former self. There seems to be no one directing the operation and we will not be back. Very sad.

At £49.95 per person for Christmas night at Dirty Martini Live we all expected much more. Portion sizes need to be addressed everyone was still hungry and nobody really what you would call big eaters. The soup was lovely but rest of the meal wasn't up to much. The turkey even though wasn't much of it was either over cooked some burnt black. Very disapointed and would not go back.

Mi compañía y yo asistimos a las instalaciones de Le Monde el viernes 8 de diciembre para nuestra cena de Navidad. Después de haber pagado 60, estaba deseando por lo menos buena comida. Al llegar tuvimos que esperar como ganado, aplastado esperando en el piso de arriba porque no estaba listo, y ser atacado en numerosas ocasiones por el personal que nos apresuraba (sin decir una excusa) con lentes y prosecco para nuestra cena en el piso de arriba.

Better for an end of the night vibe as it really is a deafening experience. Service was pretty good, even though they were rammed and offers decent value for money on an expensive street.

Decoración moderna y encantadora y una gran variedad de cócteles encantadora pero yo evitaría la comida. El servicio es mixto con unos niños de la escuela estaba demasiado fría para que sirve. Pedimos un par de copas, un vaso de vino y una cerveza. Esperamos por un tiempo muy largo para estas y curiosamente mi vino fue llevado ante la cerveza. Vimos la camarera pasear durante todo el bar antes trajo a nuestra mesa y luego dejarla abajo sin contacto visual o cualquier acuse incluso allí. Fue muy extraño mi cangrejo seco con la consistencia de aserrín, aunque era una salsa. Lo servían con media lechuga que estaba, literalmente, una lechuga cortada en la mitad con el pedúnculo y poco todavía una losa de pepino pelada. Mis compañeros de comedor haggis huevo whisky era sólido con una yema dura y seca era insípida y raro. Mi principales de carne asada con puré y kale era impresionante en que todos los componentes fueron las temperaturas completamente diferente. El puré era frío, la carne y la salsa eran sobras congeladas y la tibia kale estaba caliente. Era muy salada y la carne seca bordes quemados. tenía La hamburguesa estaba bien, aros de cebolla pasada y grasienta y no más de anillos - un círculo sólido pero debo decir que las patatas fritas eran deliciosos. Si comes aquí sólo consigue un plato de ellos. Había un £1. 50 que fue por una copa calculo de agua del grifo. Nos costó conseguir atención más bebidas como el personal era profundo en la conversación. Nuestra camarera aunque era encantadora y servicial y espero que el Consejo mantuvo que los otros, incluyendo la cocina no merecen ni un centavo. Ir para cócteles y un plato de patatas fritas, ya que es un lugar precioso pero no tener otra comida aquí.

Good service but music too loud. Cocktails great but had none of the whisky they had listed on the menu.

Aquí un cóctel llamado ya hemos visitado antes de sus vacaciones. Muy decepcionado con los cócteles que pedimos. No me gusto como alcohol en ellas y eran más caras que cualquier otro cócteles en Edimburgo. En el lado positivo el entorno es precioso y el personal era agradable. Por desgracia no volveremos

15 minutos para dos cócteles sencillo... una absoluta de tonterías! Un Cosmo y un Martini seco (si es que puedo hacer esto deberían cambiar de nombre). El lugar era sólo 1/2 lleno, así que no puedo quejarme de estar demasiado ocupado sobit era sólo servicio de basura, e inevitablemente, me quejé... no lo siento, no hay respuesta, sólo un hombro de hombros. ¿½ica bothert? Así que me volver鿽ica molestó lo extrañamos.

I come here often and really enjoy it but today I was served by someone who would've turned the milk sour....so disappointed with the service today but hopefully things will improve....

We managed to get a table even though the Christmas festivities were in full flow, the staff were on the whole very good, we had a table booked downstairs for diner but when the member of staff came to collect us as our table was ready she did not offer to carry our drinks for us, strange as she brought a tray with her, so overall good but not perfection.

We had a night of cocktails here on Christmas Eve, all were brought to our table so no need to stand at the bar, the staff were great and had loads of knowledge on there drinks.

We stopped off here for a drink and to be honest were disappointed. The service was awful, the drinks came in dirty glasses and we were told to hurry up despite our table not being reserved by anyone later on. This is a shame as Le Monde is great but I won't be back upstairs in any great rush as there are better cocktail bars. One to give a miss unless you like people being rude to you.

Hadn't booked so we were happy to get a table upstairs in Dirty Martini!! Service friendly, food was fine but a bit pricey £13.95 for sausage and mash....£9.95 for Marcaroni......portions very small!! Drinks not so good ...Chardonnay was cool in no more.....you really need white wine to be ice cold to enjoy it and they manage that without any problems along the road in Tigerlily!! So I had to ask for ice in the wine....not very good!! We had to send a pint of flat disgusting Fosters back and got a replacement from the downstairs bar which was drinkable!! Everything was dealt with in a pleasant manner so we couldn't complain!!

Went with friends for my 50th celebrations food was good service was good lighting a little dark for eating but best cheesecake ever!

The best cocktails, great atmosphere and beautiful venue. The place to be in Edinburgh if you fancy a drink.

We booked The Dirty Martini for our Xmas night out this year after popping in last year for a cocktail during the day and loving the place! We had a fab night, the meal was beautiful, service was fast and efficient, the staff were very friendly and nothing was a bother to them... And, the band were excellent! Well done to the events team! We will be going there again next year :) Oh and the drink is reasonably priced - always a bonus!!

Went here of cocktails on a Saturday night. As always very busy, but managed to get a seat. Cocktails are really reasonable here in comparison to other places on George street. Sell food too. Music playing, but not too loud that you can't have a conversation.

Good venue for a band, mixed age group not too young. Excellent cocktails at a reasonable price. Beautiful decor.

Great food and cocktails with friendly staff, now hooked on Singapore Slings. This is the upstairs of Le Monde and good to have a slightly quieter atmosphere when you and your other half want a nice relaxed chat with alcohol to help you along.

Dirty Martini is the upstairs bar in Le Monde on George Street. At first look it's a beautiful venue with sparkly lights, colorful mood lighting and glamorous decor. It was quite empty when we were there at around 6pm on a Saturday night but maybe it get's more buzzy later. The cocktail list is imaginative with some classics and some new and interesting looking ones. We only stayed for one drink as unfortunately it was lacking a bit in atmosphere and the cocktails we choose were quite over sweet. But that could just of been bad timing and a bad cocktail choice. It wouldn't put me off coming again but it's not top of my list for a revisit either.

We visited Dirty Martini once again after a memorable night there last year. It didn't disappoint!! The Christmas menu was great, the live band and music choices excellent, and the atmosphere was electric. We had a ball.

We were not greeted with the most welcoming touch - the first area from the street is filled with cosy chairs & had a gentleman's club-like ambience this was full & so comfortable customers would be forgiven for spending the entire day there!! - To enter into the inner sanctum we had pass a young lady at a perspex rostrum who didn't appear the most happiest to say the least - she advised that the restaurant was very busy ............. we asked - is there any chance at all that we might eat here as we were going to be two hours top as we had an aeroplane to catch?!! She may have sniffed - but we couldn't be sure - but she did kindly relent & she marched us through the 'busy' restaurant - pointing to the empty tables & stating that they were already booked - and unceremoniously dumped us at the cold empty end of the building (this area could have doubled as a lap-dancing club).We were about to leave when a waitress asked if she could help & happily installed us opposite the bar where we proceeded to have a very good lunch - would recommend the fabulous Maccaroni Cheese.We managed to spend just over £150 which would have definitely not gone into their till if it hadn't of been for the lovely waitress - the empty tables (around four or five -which were set in 2's & could have been pushed together for our party - remained empty the whole time we were there) & two parties which were also pushed out into the cold lap-dancing area by the 'very important perspex- rostrum lady'** left without spending a bean!!Overall lovely place (despite VIPRL**) but the loos are definitely not checked every 30 mins - perhaps VIPRL** could put that responsibility under her belt too!

This is a fantastic music venue which has just opened up in Edinburgh. I have attended two concerts there during the Festival and the quality of the venue and the atmosphere created is super. I was lucky to get tickets for myself and friends to go to the Frank and Ella Concert starring Todd Gordon and Jacqui Dankworth what a fantastic night, fabulous music, great musicians, marvelous venue. If you missed it the last Show is tonight so go on down you may get the last tickets

Me & Wes booked a table for his birthday meal & he's just eating his pudding now! I just said "what's it like Wes?" & he said "GREAT!" We've had starters & a main meal which tasted FAB! Our waiter, Michael Cameron, who's been very attentive & professional by the way, showed me the art on the wall upstairs, which I asked about because I saw it online & wondered where it was. He went out of his way to do that, which was really nice. I'd recommend The Dirty Martini to other diners as its a great atmosphere, great service & great food & drink.

Great cocktails, well mixed. A great place to go. Also some music. The nightclub bit packed and rough. great music, though, danced all night!

Met my friend for a few "St Patrick Day" drinks, good atmosphere not too busy on a sunday afternoon. They came round with shots iof Guiness and Mussel tappas for the occassion which I thought was a great touch. Staff are all very friendly.

Oh man the cocktails in this bar are awesome, great selection to choose from and fairly priced, also can mix up from what's on the menu to suit your own needs a little better.

We had our wedding reception in Dirty Martini in April 2012. I can’t say enough good things about how the event went. The team recognised from the start how important it was and did a fantastic job in pulling it all together and dealing with any issues that came up on the day, quickly an with no fuss. The venue looked great, the food was superb and it was commented from many guests that it was the best wedding food they had enjoyed before including at very expensive weddings in the Balmoral Hotel an the various castles around Scotland. Everyone had a great time and that was mainly due to Emma and the team. I would recommend Dirty Martini for any event whether business or a very important day like your wedding reception.

Upstairs in le Monde has been refurbished in 2011 and renamed dirty Martini.Live music four nights per week makes for a good atmosphere for a meal or just a few drinks.Staff are very helpful and attentive.If you are local you must get their dicount card, which gives 20% off food and drinks. Open until 3pm at the weekends and is good for all ages and tastes.

Was out for drinks with 7 mates, dont get together all that often now so wanted to make he best of it. started the usual way, in and out of a few pubs till we stumbled across the bar on the first floor of La Monde. Even though it was a mixed crowed it was an instant hit with everyone. Ended up there till 3 when it shut. The atmosphere was what set it aside from every other bar in Edinburgh. The guy on piano was on all night and had crowds of people singing and dancing. Not our usual kind of haunt, normally end up in the clubs but general chat afterwards was that we'll go back there next time were out.

I attended a dinner with live entertainment at Dirty Martini. The staff looked after us superbly with expertly blended cocktails, a very tasty and plentiful menu and a top class pianist-singer. Everyone really enjoyed themselves and the venue was stunning - the place was so clean that everything sparkled. I would have no hesitation in recommending this venue.

Held a corporate dinner here! Absolutely first class! All staff top marks. Planning a stay in Edinburgh? This place is fantastic!

My husband and I ate lunch here in Aug 2011. We had just arrived in Edinburgh after an overnight flight from NYC, and we were exhausted. Our hotel room was not ready. It was raining and cold, and we were a little dazed. I had a guide book of the city which was of no help. We started wandering around, no idea where we were going. I was hungry, and we somehow stumbled upon this restaurant. We were glad we did. The restaurant decor was lovely, and we were given a table by the window. Our waiter was excellent, and quickly brought us our drinks. I had a mojito which was very tasty. The food was well prepared, large portions. We were both pleased. We went back to our hotel, the room was ready, and we slept all afternoon, with happy bellies.

I've just recently spent the weekend in Edinburgh and on Saturday dined in the Le Monde restaurant. A good idea is to book a table through the 5pm website and you will get 20% off your final bill.Le Monde is very trendy with a great atmosphere. The staff were very efficient and kept us topped up with drinks while we were waiting. We were seated at the front of the restaurant which is the Milan section, it was great.This restaurant/bar would be ideal for an occasion such as a birthday or hen-party, and I would assume that it gets very busy later in the evening.
