Empire Cafe in Edinburgh, City of

Love this wee cafe food is great so is the service girls are so polite and friendly I would honestly say best latte in the area that actually has coffee in it not like the ones further down towards meadows which are overpriced and bland latte 10/10 for Empire cafe .

Decent spot for a quick bite and a drink. Pretty quick service and reasonably cheap. I've had some nice wraps and toasties here, but the coffee was mediocre at best. Looks and feels dirty and messy inside. Would not return until the whole place has been tidied up.

This is such an absolute jewel of a place to eat in the old town. The food is very good, but what really makes it special is the warmth and kindness of the staff. My wife likes the mezze, but I always go for the moussaka, but everything is home-cooked and tasty.

I'd been in this wee cafe before and seen as I was passing through I went in again, This time I had a bacon and haggis doubler roll with a large Latte, a bargain in this area at £6 . I was served quickly by a nice waitress and again was not disappointed with my order. It was sunny outside so decided to take my stuff out to the seating provided by the cafe.

Only had a coffee but it looks as though they do good lunch rolls too.

Friendly staff, but the burger was a letdown.

Got a super weird call from Empire Cafe, Im from Sweden, why did they call me? The cafe is also probably a scam call center. Because why would they call me and hundreds of other swedish people? In my country this number from Empire Cafe is labeled as a scamming number.

Very friendly service and nice breakfast

I ordered 3 drinks to take away. The server informed me that it would be a 15 minute wait, once it was too late to back out of the purchase. The 3 easy drinks I ordered were then ready over 30 minutes later with nothing said about how long it had taken. The cafe had only 3 other customers in this time. There is no reason to take so long for a drinks order. During this excruciating long wait I went to use the cafes toilet. There was only one stall and the lock on the door did not work. While waiting for the waitress to even start on the drinks, I noticed while making sandwiches for other customers, she was handing the ham with her bare hands and then handling the other ingredients. This would not be respectful toward vegetarians but problematic to people with allergies. Over all I did not have a pleasant experience at this cafe and it was frustrating having to wait so long for 3 drinks in an empty cafe.

Had a an ice cream which tasted quite old and the whole place looked really dirty and far below hygiene standards! Also when I asked for a receipt they said it wasn't possible because I paid cash. Dodgy place!

I had a tasty and very filling meatball sandwich from this cafe. Also a nice croissant. Loads of options and sweet pastries too. Very friendly and helpful service.

What a nice surprise finding this little gem while walking about. Honest prices and full of flavour. Friendly staff and a nice atmosphere all around

Probably the worst soup I’ve had, and the roll that came with it was god-awful. Very friendly and energetic staff that day though.

I went for the bacon roll and was not disappointed. The bakes and pastries looked great. It is take away only these days but the staff friendly and enthusiastic. Very pleased for first visit. Thank you!

We went this morning to have a coffee and a croissant and it couldn't be more delicious!! Awesome breakfast for excelent price. Also he is really kind. For sure we'll repeat very soon :)

My daughter and her friends go for the meal deal, he's good with the kids and good value food. Paninis highly recommended

Making your way in the world today takes everything you've got. Well if you've only got 10/15 mins, you could do a lot worse than taking a break from all your cooking worries here at Empire Cafe. I particularly recommend the amazing Bacon & Brie Burger. A tremendous lunch option which comes together very nicely with the cranberry sauce. Don't be shy, give it a try...

The food here is great, I come here every week. Even though it can be a bit smoky inside sometimes but you can just use the tables and chairs outside. Love this place!

A lovely wee local cafe with nice coffee/tea, selection of cakes and great paninis, sandwiches, etc. Guys that work there are really nice.

Very disappointing and rude. Tried to force extra food upon us even though several of our party explicitly said they didn't want it Would also not take cards of the group and made us all walk to a cash point (which charged each of us £1.50). Avoid.

Great cafe with friendly staff and great value for money

Advertising a £3.50 meal deal ( doesn't say it's a takeaway) and charges £7.50 for eating in but will rena`ge if challenged. An exceptional deal can't see where their profits are. Gotta be a better way to do business. Good deal for takeaways.

Este fue el mejor servicio que he tenido en todos de Edimburgo. El camarero era muy atento explicó el menú completamente y realmente quería asegurarme o visitar era perfecta. La comida era fantástica. Ambos tuvimos la opción 3 placa y fue demasiado comida para comer, ninguno de nosotros tocamos nuestras ensaladas estábamos tan completo. Si hubiéramos sabido lo buena que era la comida sin haber comido aquí varias veces. No lo ya que estás fuera de la Milla Real (a solo media cuadra) cuando todo el mundo había y hora o más de espera. Tan feliz que nos tropezamos.

Fuimos para el almuerzo aquí ayer con la muestra entre orher al borde de Edimburgo. Fue una comida tranquila agradable. . . Ambos nos aclararon. nuestros platos. Tuve el meze chapuzón y mi marido el meze caliente y realmente nos encantó. . . El vino también era adorable. El servicio era excelente, la camarera muy amable. Restaurante pequeño y acogedor con un ambiente bohemio bien merece una visita y disfrutamos de la música también! ! Ah, y a un precio razonable también 😊 x

Queríamos ir a la puerta de al lado, abedul, que siempre es una apuesta segura, pero cuando en Marchmont terminó en el Imperio como el abedul estaba lleno (no es sorprendente en el fin de semana, durante el borde).

Cortado de aquí para un café mientras esperaba por mi coche. Lugar era realmente humo, como había sido algo de leña, lo que significaba mi ropa olía a comida casera y mis ojos eran llorar un poco. Puede parecer un poco overdramatic pero no fue una experiencia agradable. El café estaba bien.

My partner and I were looking for a place to go for an unplanned dinner last Saturday and I'm very pleased we came across with this lovely and cozy place :) lovely atmosphere, lovely music and REALLY tasty food :) As a vegetarian almost vegan I had a big selection of dishes to choose from so I was very happy as this doesn't happen too often in conventional restaurants :) they even modify a dish for me to I was really pleased :) And about the staff I just have to say they are FANTASTIC :) lovely service and attentive to detail :) This place is on my list of favorite places to go now :) so we will see you soo :)

Great prices, friendly staff, shabby chic

Visitamos durante el borde Sábado 20 de agosto, mi amigo había preguntado, qué tipo de comida te gustaría comer? Luchando por encontrar un espacio en cualquier lugar para nosotros cuatro, apenas cualquier toma durante el borde. No nos decepcionó con este pequeño lugar.Era pequeño y acogedor con un ambiente estupendo, sin música y una amplia variedad de platos. Es un hotel dirigido por una familia, una casa de té bistro donde el personal es muy amable y servicial. Mi novio no había probado comida turca antes y yo esperaba que se encontrará algo a su gusto. Dejó un plato limpio! La comida es muy sabrosa sin de ser insoportables.A todos nos encantó el té de manzana

Comida griego-turca sencilla y sabrosa.Nos alojábamos en el hotel de enfrente y decidimos probar suerte en este pequeño café. La camarera muy amable, el servicio rápido y la comida muy rica (hummus, falafel, dolmas, berenjena ahumada y ensalada).Muy buena relación calidad precio.Como siempre el agua es gratis. No sirven alcohol pero puedes llevarte vino o cerveza y te cobran un pequeño extra. Muy recomendable!

cafetería bistró del Imperio en la calle Edimburgo Saint Mary's es un lugar encantador que tiene el más maravilloso patio de Court . Un lugar donde la comida es caliente, bien cocinada y deliciosa. Super amable, no en su personal de cara a los que nada es demasiado problema. Los kebabs de cordero y chocolate y Walnut Brownie eran deliciosos! Sentarse en un oasis lleno de flores con luces de colores y cestas colgantes que era difícil creer que todavía estaban en Edimburgo. A un precio razonable, a menos de 20 libras por dos porciones tamaño saludables, merece la pena una visita.

aunque nuestra intención era visitar el café al lado, pero como estaba tan ocupado (formados fuera) decidimos aventurarse por el Empire Café en vez de conveniencia de la ubicación.Lo que debería haber sido diciendo que un sábado 12 pm que el café estaba vacío pero como sólo necesitábamos un bocado, decidimos tripas.Fue una desafortunada experiencia. Aunque la chica era bastante amable y el servicio era rápido debido a que está vacía, la comida, aunque es barato, dejaba mucho que desear. El panini eran sosas y los cafés eran horribles. de hecho tan horrible que mi compañero decidimos dejar ella completamente después de un SIP. Los cubiertos y café tazas también parece no ser completamente limpio, lo cual era bastante desagradable.Es una pena que en una buena ubicación. Las pequeñas mejoras mucho para esta cafetería especialmente con rival de directamente al lado recibir comentarios favorables!

Este es un pequeño café simple precioso, con un buen café y un fantástico desayuno rollos, simple y bacon, salchichas, morcilla, etc.Es difícil equivocarse, el café es sencillo y básico pero no huelen mal de grasa como algunas articulaciones de rollo de desayuno, y es un buen contraste a algunos de los otros lugares más portentous locales de desayuno.He estado aquí dos veces con un desayuno rápido de negocios y fue genial para un café rápido, roll frito y charlar.
