Great local cafe with a small menu but still provides a good choice. More for locals, although we have visited on a few occasions when visiting friends. Good atmosphere and everyone are very friendly.

Good vibes!! Really cute cafe with good food and really friendly service. Had the bacon, brie and cranberry toastie which was lush and huge!! Will definitely be coming back! Xx

Just looking for a nice Quite Drink and small plates found a little piece of heaven, so relaxing and really attentive staff. The Cocktails 🍸 as they sould be flavoursome and a kick and the Bacardi and coke on ice a dream oh and the Tequila rose shots went down a treat great way to end the evening ps and the food was great

Clean, comfortable room with a good modern bathroom , excellent breakfast , I would say the best I’ve ever had . They use quality local produce . All staff very friendly and provide excellent service. Ok the outside could do with a re surface on car park and a bin shed and windows are old but I expect these are longer term projects and didn’t detract from my 2 day stay. Ten min walk into the City . Book direct to get the best deal.

Lovely pub. Hope it is kept open after the current landlord/landlady leave. Such a shame if it stays shut 😒

Lovely little cafe, friendly staff. Good value. Enjoyed the homemade soup and sandwich combo.

The service is very friendly and the atmosphere, despite being small, is welcoming, the pizza was wonderful, the lasagna and the rest of the dishes were ok, nothing special

The best coffee in York! The staff are the sunniest baristas I have ever met. I also highly recommend the walnut, pecan, and banana loaf.

Great find good quality food with delightful service. Whilst there is a limited menu choice it was well prepared and perhaps the most reasonable cost anywhere in York. Good find close to car park and St Johns University.

I buy my means freshly roasted here. Always taste fresh and great. I usually go for wildcard and bloom. Service is always fantastic. Prompt delivery.

You know what kind of place Valhalla is (if the name itself isn't enough) when you enter the hallowed walls. Across the threshold you step over the bones and weapons of a fallen Viking, now dining in the great hall with his fellow warriors. Seriously though, Valhalla bar is all about the ambience. It's dark, it's cozy, it's heavy metal. This place is beyond cool, and it would easily be my local if lived in York. My wife and I had dinner here in September 2024. We dined upstairs in the great hall, but there were a few little side areas that looked cool as well. We shared one of the larger charcuterie boards and several glasses of mead. The food was exquisite. There was a boutique Sheffield cheddar that was 'oh my god' good. The mead was delicious; spicy, sweet, fruity. The bar is small, but with lots of choice. Service was quick and friendly on a lightly busy weekday night. I loved York, it's a fantastic city. Can't wait to return, and to drink mead in Valhalla again.

Really happy as a vegan to see such a great option in York. Honestly so good. Had the cashew cream quiche (comes with with two salads) and a side of sweet potato wedges which in honesty was probably unnecessary because it was only a lunch. The quiche and salad were both filling and unspeakably delicious. The pastry was great but the quiche filling itself was like... melt in the mouth but so well flavoured and hearty. I would have ordered and eaten it again immediately. The salad is also really well flavoured, seems like basically any vegetable they touch turns to gold. Good sharp fresh flavours. Honestly I could not recommend this more highly, will definitely be coming back. Didn't take photos because I wolfed it, unfortunately. But it was also nicely presented. They also gave a lot of dessert options but I only came for lunch. Will report back...
