I went for lunch with my Granddaughter and Mum. It’s a lovely welcoming cafe and we were made to feel welcome. The ladies ensured my 2 year old Granddaughter had toys, her drink first and her food, effort was made throughout, the food choice and quality is wonderful, a gem to have in York.

Beautiful oven baked jacket potatoes and choice of fillings. Great for anyone on slimming world looking for spot for lunch where staff were so helpful and pleasant Definitely will be back

We had breakfast which was delicious. Glad we came as it opened as full extremely quickly. Very friendly staff and great coffee.

Great little find if you wanting a tasty breakfast, also they very much welcome dogs 🐕 and babies 👶 Food was lovley but found the bubble and squeak to have to much oinions but overall great good. We will defo recommend this place to our friends.

This is an excellent little cafe hidden away in the centre of York. Visited today at lunch. It was busy when we arrived but the host told us how long we’d be and got us a seat as soon as was possible. Food was excellent and reasonably priced (particularly for York). Good children’s menu as well, particularly liked the kids hot chocolate in a panda mug. Highly recommended, will go again!!

En una reciente visita a York, estábamos buscando para tomar un poco de desayuno, preguntamos a un par de tíos y nos dirigieron a Bruks café. A la entrada nos encontramos con una buena mañana y bienvenida y se nos mostró a una mesa para dos. Es una encantadora zona de sensación familiar, el servicio es genial y hasta la tierra de Julie y Andrea, atento pero no intrusivo. La comida es todo cocinado en casa fresco y productos locales, burbuja y chirrido era delicioso, años desde que hemos tenido eso. El café estaba caliente y delicioso. Hay un gran ambiente aquí y un montón de charla, en realidad volvimos al día siguiente para una repetición. . jaja. Tampoco rompió el banco. ¡Adorable!

Had a delicious bruks breakfast and flat white. Nice touch were the lovely cookies. I also took away a cheese scone. The cakes looked amazing as well. All homemade.

Wonderful proper bacon sandwich and cup oftea. My son had a veggie sandwich and a hot chocolate. We both agreed it was excellent.

Friendly and welcoming cafe, made us feel very welcome even with our three year old. Delicious drinks and cakes too!

Came in for two breakfasts before a day of exploring York- WOW we loved it! They were both fresh and hot. The bubble and squeak was amazing and they offered my partner extra beans, toast or tomato when he asked for no mushroom on his breakfast which was a nice touch. Fast and attentive service, I would definitely come back!!

Called in here with our friends & 2 doggies while visiting York. one of our party went to the toilet & the staff member came over to order but we weren’t quite ready & one of our party wasn’t back yet from the toilet , but we were told they would take our order now & get the other person’s when they come back, Rushing us into ordering there & then! Coffee was nice , fruit scones were nice, my friend asked for some water for our dogs to which we were asked if we had our own bowl! ( in a dog friendly cafe you generally get water brought to you) One of the party had the coffee & walnut cake & it was very dry . The one staff member wasn’t overly friendly when we arrived, but she did improve by the time we left but it did leave us thinking it was a very strange visit.

Cold inside no heating on or it felt like it. No baked potatoes they had run out at 1.40pm. Shuts at 5pm Limited menu pizza or all day breakfasts/sandwiches. Opted for the Bruck breakfast which was All very oily greasy covered in oil. £14.50 with a Tea. Would not visit again expensive for what it was. Wetherspoon’s breakfast are better that’s saying something.

Excellent service, very accommodating and we were a family of 8. They went out of their way to make us welcome and out tables together for us. We never felt hurried even though Bruks is in a busy area. Thank you for having us

Coffee shop with good cakes, soup and sandwiches. Went with my daughter and her 1-year-old child. They were fantastic and brought out a plate of nibbles for my grandson. Really nice food and drinks. Fantastic atmosphere, high chairs and space for push chairs. They even let dogs in

Fab staff, great being dog friendly. Have been on the search for a millionaire’s shortbread to top one from 20 years ago….this takes the top spot…and I have tried so many over the years. Raspberry milkshake is also highly recommended by my son! Would 100% recommend

The caffè latte tastes very, very tasty :) it is absolutely worth a visit. Even if it's a bit hidden.

Very nice cafe came in from a downpour and spotted it down the alleyway. Very nice mocha's and cheese scones never thought about cream cheese and chutney on one, but fantastic and will be doing it again. Coffee and walnut cake is very good

Made to feel very welcome. Delicious food, even when the seats were full we were told exactly how long we would have to wait for a table and they were usually right. Liked it so much went back a second time. My friends had soup and said it was tasty. They even shared a soup and panini between them and they split the soup into 2 bowls! . The paninis were very enjoyable. The jacket potatoes with delicious fillings were amazing. The cakes were yummy. Definitely go for the fruitcake. Best, millionaire shortbread I've tasted for a long time and the lemon and blueberry cake was delicious. Very friendly service. Food came quite quickly. Nice buzz about the place. Lovely Christmas decorations and homely feel

We visited today and I would certainly return. The range of cakes and coffees was amazing. I had a delicious spiced pumpkin latte and my mum enjoyed a slice of Christmas cake served with cheese. The service was exceptional and we'd certainly return. Thank you!

Beautiful and warm on a cold autumn day, our late breakfast at Bruks was wonderful. The jacket potato I had was the stuff of dreams, and the service was so kind and welcoming. If I ever return to York I’ll be returning here.

Wow what a fantastic place so quaint and lovely could not recommend enough. The staff were fantastic so friendly and welcoming and the breakfast was 10 out of 10

We went yesterday & had delicious paninis, went back today for coffee & cake- well worth visiting again, the savoury cheese scones & cake both lovely. Will definitely visit again when we’re in York- a wonderful small, independent business who really seem to value their customers (including remembering us from yesterday- not many places in York do that!)

Great breakfast spot! We had the bacon, sausage, egg sandwich on a baguette and a scone and everything was delicious and came out quick. Coffee was good. Staff were professional and accommodating. Very nice place, would recommend.

A lovely cafe with friendly staff (one of whom saluted me!) and the most delicious food. We had a tea cake and salmon and scrambled eggs on toast. And rustic but very clean settings!

Very lovely and warm cafe. Mostly senior customers. Cozy soft sofa seat, and comfortable distance between tables. Giving a free little homemade biscuit with every coffee drinks. Will definitely visit again to check out the food.

I had a breakfast sandwich, in a baguette. (I'd asked for white, but I'm not complaining) The scone my mum had was apparently very nice, as was the coffee

Visited this lovely cafe today whilst in town. Very friendly service and beautiful food. We had a home made scone with cream and jam which was out of this world. Will definitely visit again

Lovely place to come with the children for lunch or a cake. Loads of games available to keep the kids amused and the service is some of the best I have had. Highly recommend.

Absolutely love this place. Friendly staff, great food and welcoming atmosphere. It’s one of the best places to get an all day breakfast, with a menu for both the meat overs and the vegans.

A fabulous little hidden gem. We went for breakfast and it was excellent. The fried eggs were perfectly done, the mushrooms and tomatoes on toast were cooked perfectly and the home made bubble and squeak was sublime. On top of this, the staff were friendly, clearly knew their stuff and the prices were very reasonable. Definitely well worth a visit!

Delightful. Hidden down a side-street but a lovely place that’s miles away from the faceless big chains. Friendly staff, great coffee, lovely food.

I first went to Bruks on a day trip to York several years ago and it was such a good experience I always go back there on my infrequent visits. The staff are friendly, the menu is imaginative, and the food is good!

Managed to get a table and both had great paninnis. Ham ,cheddar & mango chutney and a ham , brie & cranberry. Lovely staff as always.... Bruks has improved even more , its such a relaxing café and happy helpful staff .... well done

Popped in for a Breafast Sandwich: Bacon, Egg, and Sausage. It was delicious. You could taste the quality in the bacon and sausages, especially. With an Americano Coffee, it came to just over £10. Really nice, friendly vibe, in here with polite, professional staff. It's situated centrally, in York City centre, but amazingly, off the beaten track, so a little gem for those in the know 😉 Highly recommended and will always pop in here for a light bite 👍🏾

We happened upon this cafe as it was right outside our Airb&b and I couldn’t recommend it enough. The full English breakfast was generous, delicious, and cooked fresh to order. The coffee was good, too. Plus, I popped out to the shop next door, and the staff member thoughtfully waited till I got back to make it so it didn’t go cold. They were really friendly and welcoming. Will definitely return if I’m in York again.

Bruks is one of our go-to spots for a truly family-friendly lunch in York. They do magical work! I often opt for the homemade quiche. Hammy and cheesy…and, no that’s not a review of my tour! Absolutely delicious, far better than any shop-bought quiche I’ve had. Our mini wizards usually go for sausage, scrambled eggs and beans and a hot chocolate ‘with everything on it’ in an unBEARably cute animal mug. The seafood baguette with salmon and prawns is a favourite too (well, it’d be shellfish not to!) This is a cafe that understands what families need. The Kids Menu is great value, and there’s plenty to choose from too. Dominoes, Connect 4, and baby toys and books help keep the kids entertained! Staff go the extra mile to make sure that smaller visitors are well catered for, even checking which elements of salad my eldest wanted. ‘Lettuce’ face it, kids can be picky so this level of customer service is appreciated. On a practical note, an accessible toilet with clean baby-changing facilities is another plus that I know parents will appreciate. Gluten-free and vegan menu options are also available. Whether you’re local or visiting from afar, I highly recommend Bruks for a slap-up family feast. Oh, and it’s one of my favourite spots for a Full English Breakfast too…with that all-important black pudding! The Wizard of York (Wizard Walk of York)

This hidden gem was just perfect for lunch. Not fancy, flashy or overpriced, just decent, fresh, honest fayre. Gluten free, veggie, vegan options aplenty. Only down side, don't be seduced by the cakes!

We went down a snicket and found a place to have breakfast, the servie was very friendly and the food was delicious. I asked for gluten free bread, they where very happy to accommodate my need.

Was on holiday in York with family and was looking for a lunch stop that was just for a quick stop with basic lunch food and not a restaurant. Came across Brucks. Had a great variety for a lunch menu and the food was delicious. Lovely home baking also. Very comfortable and relaxing stop whilst sight seeing. Catered well for my children and lovely attention given with games and colouring. Was so relaxed stayed much longer than expected. Would return if we visit York again.

Brilliant cafe, I travel quite a lot, and this reminded me of my hometown, so so much. Fantastic choices of hot drinks, soft drinks and food. My friend joining me had no clue what Bubble n Squeak was, and the staff offered and proceeded to cook a small bowl up for him to try, free of charge. I will be returning here, when my trips take me to/through York!

Lovely little cafe and coffee shop, only stopped in for a hot drink but the atmosphere is lovely and the owners/managers are super friendly, will definitely visit again for a snack.

Absolutely superb lunch at this fabulous café in York. Sweet potato and ginger soup was the best I’ve ever tasted and The vegan flapjack was wonderful. Not enough superlatives, this is a gem of a place. Extremely friendly and welcoming staff.

Found this today by chance, and I'm so glad we did. The food was delicious, and the staff were very welcoming even though they were busy. Will definitely be going back on future visits to York

Found this amazing little cafe when searching for a yummy vegan breakfast online for our trip to York for my 30th Birthday! What an absolutely perfect breakfast we had, from the gorgeous bubble and squeak, to the one of a kind iced latte and the friendly service. We felt right at home from the moment we arrived and I have to say it is the vegan breakfast we have ever had and my favourite iced latte! We will be back whenever we visit York again! Definitely would recommend!

This was a chance find when it started to rain. It is great! The staff were friendly, my little boy was given an age appropriate toy to play with as soon as we sat down. I saw older children offered "connect for" and drawings to do. The food was delicious. They said that as they were really busy the food would be delayed, but actually it came out really quickly.

Just THE BEST brunch in York. Great atmosphere, wonderful staff and outstanding coffee. If you are in York and looking for a great cafe, this is the place. Cannot recommend enough.
