Had the pulled pork, very tasty and good portion size. Excellent service and lovely to sit looking out the window as the world rushes by plus its dog friendly. I would highly recommend!.

Stopped here for breakfast whilst waiting for the city tour and the atmosphere, food and service from George was fantastic! Loved talking to people from all over the world here. What a fantastic little place!

I came in with my friend for coffee and food and was served by Manish and Mithun and the food was incredible and the coffee is some of the best in York. Would definitely recommend!!

We went here multiple times during our York visit and had a variety of breakfast menu items. All really tasty and good size portions. Great staff and service. The cakes looked really delicious.

We had 20 mins before a train, they promised a cooked breakfast on the table and delivered in 8! Excellent grub with a friendly professional service. We will absolutely be going again.

Lovely café close to town. The staff were fantastic and really kind to hold our bags in our last day after we had brunch there. We had the pulled pork and the vegetarian breakfast on waffle. Fantastic coffee too. Would recommend.

All round nice place. We were lucky getting a table but well spaced seating with window seats make it cozy and personal. The menu is well balanced for the hearty and the snackers. Nice coffee too

Visited on Sunday for brunch and had their fabulous french toast with apple and cinnamon topping and again today for soup and a sandwich. Lovely food, friendly staff. Also visited their bakery and same service and food as well. Thoroughly recommend it.

Splendid little find when visiting York. On my first visit I was interested when I found the waffles on my full English, but they were delicious and I headed straight there on my next visit. A lovely location and good pit stop before a walk along the walls to some great views of York minster. Edited 03/12/24. Once again 10/10 & ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️an amazing breakfast to be had. I was pleasantly surprised to see they had moved around the ground floor, repositioning the counter and making a more usable window view for customers to watch the work go by.

Small coffee bar with reasonable menu. Prices are typical of York. Facilities are satisfactory. Americano coffee was good. the scone was slightly stale but edible. Sandwiches look very good, although not tried on this occasion. Location adjacent to Billy gate and beyond the bar means that it can be less busy than the city centre coffee shops.

Great breakfast again. Was a little on the cool side but still great.

Lovely little cafe just outside the city gates, fast and friendly service in a busy cafe. Coffee was lovely with a fruity taste to it. The croissant was amazing, crispy and buttery probably one of the best I have ever had. Only a small place but staff did their best to accommodate everyone. Easy to pay and in a great location.

Had an amazing de-caf oat latte this morning and even though I didn’t have anything to eat, the sweet treats they have here look heavenly! They are all homemade, and the Sourdough bread looked and smelled absolutely delicious. Well worth a visit if you are in York!

I love this cafe, which is across from the museum, next to the arch leading to Yorkminster. The food is good, the service is terrific, the people are friendly. I have come back 3days in a row

Really nice breakfast spot next to our hotel. The use of waffles was great as a difference to muffins on breakfast dishes. Really nice coffee too.

We dropped in here on “spec” whilst sight-seeing. What a brilliant place. We had the full breakfast for lunch and I can honestly say it was the best breakfast I have had for many a long year. High quality ingredients and very imaginative in its presentation. Excellent value and extremely pleasant atmosphere. Loved the music. We are booked into Betty’s tomorrow so they will have a lot to do to match this.

Visited here for brunch after word of mouth recommendation. What a great decision we made! Fantastic fresh food, decent portions, beautifully presented. For what we got, certainly can't grumble about the value for money. Super friendly staff, eager to please rounded off our experience. Couldn't fault it at all.

Food looks good but that was the worst espresso I’ve ever had… or close to ..

Lovely food, great service and reasonable prices. Location is fantastic..near Minster, Art Gallery and Theatre. We were initially worried that the menu was too grown up for our children but the French toast and waffles were a hit!

Super range of breakfasts and always delicious cake. The breakfast is generous and nicely presented. The staff are attentive and friendly and work really hard running up and down stairs to their kitchen.

Nice little coffee shop. French toast was good and a fairly big portion. Flat white was also good. It is a bit small inside, but a good location.

A disappointing visit. The coffee (flat white) was not hot and our food order did not go to the kitchen and none of the staff checked our order. When we asked where it was they said it hadn't gone through to the kitchen so we cancelled the order. Unfortunately the bathroom was not very clean and could do with a deep clean.

An outstanding choice for breakfast in York just outside the city wall at Bootham Bar. I had the Eggstravaganza (Eggs Benedict with avocado and smoked salmon on waffle). Exceptional flavors and expertly poached eggs. The fresh orange juice is a perfect morning starter. The staff are prompt and friendly. The very best way to start your morning.

Tried this place after a long time and it did not disappoint. Such a lovely atmosphere. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Food was really yum and beautifully presented! It's different to other brunch places in York because it does most of its brunch options on waffles- that taste great! I will be back now that I know how good it is. The location is also perfect and easy to get to. There are many tea/coffee/healthy juice options. We were full so didn't get a chance to try any of the lovely cakes and scones on the counter.

Delicious waffles and pastries.

Amazing food & atmosphere! We really enjoyed delicious brunch and healthy drinks! The juice was fresh and light with a bit of character from ginger (loooved it), also they have a big variety of breakfast/brunch items. Menu is different from other places so it was really great experience to try something new. We were impressed with a staff attention and care. They all were lovely! Big recommendation to visit and enjoy the best food in York city center!

Shiva and sumit gave us the best breakfast and coffee ever. Nicest eggs benedict I've ever eaten and they didn't mind a couple of awkward requests from us. Lovely little place. I'd recommend to anyone. Can't wait to go back!

A great little find for breakfast. Fancied something a little healthier & was not disappointed with the options although the menu had something for all tastes & very reasonably priced too, the staff were friendly efficient & attentive despite being very busy with locals & tourist’s alike. ( a couple of the team needed clean aprons but this didn’t spoil my experience at all. I can comfortably say I will be back.

Very handsome little place, very comfortable, lovely street view, good coffee, excellent food. Everything appears to be served on waffles...? High quality ingredients, tasteful mix of flavours, extensive menu based around all day breakfast with a small number of well selected lunchy options. I had the pulled pork and it was outstanding.

Lovely place to have a quick coffee

I feel like this cafe does better than this, but unfortunately it wasn’t a good experience for me. The coffee was really badly executed; over extracted espresso and first time round poorly steamed oat milk, after I asked about it, I asked for a remake with normal milk, this scalded my tongue and burnt my fingers on the glass and had that eggy custard smell of overdone milk. Cake was tainted by something else during the baking so wasn’t really edible.

Service was awful in York Railway Station. Platform 11. Ordered 3 coffees yesterday March 13 and paid 12.20 The staff who is doing the coffee is too slow. Missed my train due to this. Went back to her to claim my 3rd paid coffee. The other lady before me had the same issue who ordered coffees but was not able to prepare on time, hence, missing the train which cost us to buy a new train tickets. Hope this will not happen to other customers. It was just an awful experience to go through. *** we never had an issue with the payment, and showing us back the receipt did not happen. There were no argument with the staff re claiming for an unpaid coffee. ***

Bar Hashery in York train station Platform 11. Service was awful. Too slow to serve 1 coffee, waited for more than 10 mins and almost missed the train. What a nightmare.

Had a lovely brunch here this morning, the waffles are a revelation to me. Also would highly recommend the cakes, I would highly recommend the brownie AND coffee and walnut cake which unfortunately I did not get a picture to show as I was too busy stuffing my face 🤣

Good food, friendly and helpful service, reasonably priced

First visit here today, Sunday 10th March. Initially called in for a drink, the cake counter looked amazing. My partner and I went for brunch in the end, which tasted as good as it sounded. We both went for creamy garlic mushrooms and poached eggs served on waffles. Will definitely return, loved it.

After a night in a guest house on Bootham Crescent we Googled " Breakfast near me" and this 4.9* stood out. Came with Booth and Madge for coffees and full English breakfast. Sat by Bootham Bar on the busy ring road. A very pleasant interior over three floors. Toilet up steep stairs. Lunch menu looks good as well.£11 for a breakfast and £2.80 for Americano. The breakfast has a bistro twist...served on a waffle. ( interesting but not a waffle fan..you can ask for toast) Has cherry toms and pea shoots..and baked beans use butter beans. Very good sausage, bacon and egg. Loads of mushrooms.

Thank you George for the warm welcome and lovely cuppa :) I chose Bar Hashery on a whim, looking for somewhere to finish my work. I'm pleased I discovered this great York cafe. Welcoming, clean and relaxed atmosphere. Prices very reasonable in my opinion. I only have a drink but the food I could see others tucking into looked tasty. George couldn't have been friendlier, as were the rest of the team I met on leaving. Well worth a visit, I'm looking forward to going back!

Our go-to cafe when visiting York. Lovely staff, very good coffee and original breakfast menu. The full breakfast was excellent on waffle and the veggie one was great too, with home made beans and hallumi. There is a great selection of cakes too. Nice views of the city wall and bustle of York. Called here last Saturday afternoon, had a hot drink and a cake. I had a cappuccino and my husband had a tea. We both had the Yorkshire scone, which was amazing. They offer freshly baked cakes made on site.

Great coffee. Tasty breakfast options. Hollandaise is quite sweet and waffles are lovely but heavy (having a toast option would be great) Staff super friendly
