Ruby’s Coffee House in York

I read about the place and thought I would give it a try and was not disappointed. The staff were friendly and helpful the place was Quint. But the food is outstanding. Real hidden gem

We regularly visit Ruby’s for breakfast. Eggs Royal and Biscoff cheesecake are my go to. Great menu and lovely staff. Dog friendly.

This is a very small coffee shop. It looks very cute and very inviting to enter. The staff were lovely too. However, we ordered lunch and the food is quite a let down. The ham and cheese sandwich and panini was very bland. It was cheap plastic type cheese and cheap watery ham. The bread bun was also cheap supermarket quality. It was served nicely but really bland. Crisps on the side were also not fresh (or cheap tasteless brand). It was disappointing for such an inviting little coffee shop. It is also quite expensive for Acomb with a ‘plastic’ ham and cheese sandwich costing £7.95. Sorry, I only wrote this review because I don’t feel that the other reviews are a reflection of the quality of the food received today. The place has a lot of potential but quality of food needs to improve considerably for the prices charged.

I have visited Ruby’s many times and am yet to find fault with the place! The Chai lattes are great, and the brunch options I have tried are always spot on. A lovely cosy atmosphere, you’re made to feel at home as soon as you walk through the door. Definitely worth a visit. :)

This is my second visit to Ruby's and was as great as rhe first. Their hot chocolate is first class. I had a toasted teacake and biscoff rocky road, both came quickly and were delicious. My friend had a posh coffee (sorry coffee isn't my thing) and a slice of cake. All in all a lovely visit, fab cafe, great service and very good price.

Friendly service, staff obviously knew some of the locals. Good coffee and tasty cake. I would definitely look to experience more of their menu in the future.

Absolutely fantastic place! Their love for dogs is unreal! Took my dog buddy here for his 1st birthday and he was spoilt written! Puppy chino and biscuits. Fabulous food and fantastic staff! Highly recommend xxx

If I could rate them more than 5 stars I would! The staff are amazing and you can see their working so hard to make Ruby’s such a special place for the people of Acomb! The cakes are amazing and always loads to choose from, the Victoria sponge is my favourite and I usually get a strawberry and banana as well which is great. Keep doing what your doing ladies!

Once, there was a suburb of York known as Ye Olde Acomb. A desolate place full of charity shoppes and gambling halls. But lo! From the heavens our call was heard and along came the saviour of lunchtimes, Ruby’s Coffee House. The owner and her team couldn’t do more for you. Wonderful food and the best coffee in Acomb, if not the whole of York. I recommend the Mocha. On my last visit I partook in some fantastic food including a beautiful panini whilst my wife had her favourite Beetroot and Feta flatbread. Oh and the cakes are to die for. Check out my red velvet cheese cake! It’s small, but perfectly formed and if you’re lucky enough to get a table you’re in for a treat. If you’re not, get a takeaway and enjoy at your leisure. Plus this place LOVES their dogs. Go for a coffee, get a free cuddle with a pooch belonging to one of the regulars (or do what I do and refuse to leave until the owner brings hers down). They’ve even got a wall of photos of all the dogs that frequent their favourite watering hole. It’s stunningly cute. Can’t fault Ruby’s!

Ha, month visited "November" - I'm actually here about once a week 😂 I feel like if all of the locals who ate and drank here regularly posted a review they'd have about 300 five star reviews. But perhaps we want to keep the little local gem to ourselves... I clearly love this place. I take my Dog who adores the staff. I get coffee to go on a pram walk. My husband picks up bacon sandwiches on a Friday sometimes. This place saved my sanity during lockdown! Highly recommend the coffee, eggs Benny, halloumi flatbread and that irresistible brownie! And the staff are fab ✨

The food & coffee at Ruby’s is fab. Had the most amazing eggs benedict & my partner had a cooked breakfast. Portions are generous, produce is fresh & good quality. The girls were so accommodating of our dog, he had lots of cuddles & treats. Ruby’s feels like a really chilled, friendly, welcoming space! Thank you x

I absolutely love Ruby’s! Incredible food, best coffee around and always a friendly, warm welcome. It feels like seeing old friends every time I pop in. Dog friendly, child friendly, everyone friendly! I challenge you to find better cake and coffee anywhere in York!

Went here for the first time a few weeks ago for breakfast on the off chance, my favourite cafe was closed! But I was not disappointed the girls are all lovely the food is amazing, this now is my new favourite place❤️ Added bonus you can take your pooch with you. Definitely recommend. Once you eat here you want want to eat anywhere else for breakfast all the staff should be so proud of there selfs 👌

Popped in here to meet a friend I had a breakfast which was fantastic really tasty and well cooked We had a warm welcome and had some treats for our dogs Only downside was that it’s small inside

You always get a warm welcome at Ruby’s. Cosy atmosphere and nice food and coffee. If you are a dog owner then you will be particularly welcome and your furry friend will be well looked after. Definitely the pick of the cafes on the area.

The service here is fabulous (friendly, warm and kind), and the food is delicious! They have been our office weekly treat throughout lock down and I feel so grateful for them making themselves available! The food is always fresh and hot, and the homemade cakes...

Visited today after passing many times . Only positive comment I can make is that the hot chocolate drink I had was vert nice . Cafe it’s self is tiny and very cramped my head was practically touchingThe plate of scones on the display shelf...

We go here every week. They always have different soups, daily specials and loads of different cakes, a variety of vegan and gf options as well. The staff are so friendly

Been there several times. Always a lovely welcome. And the food.. well just can’t complain. The veggie breakfast is fab and my Hubble loved the full English. There’s always a welcome for four legged friends too. And the homemade cakes look delicious. Would highly recommend.

Such a lovely coffee shop with homemade cakes and lovely food. Would definitely recommend and very covid friendly which is good to see for those who are worried about going out and about. Friendly staff and lovely to see dogs are welcome too.
