Cocktails around £10 per head. Lots of seating in a modern setting with lots of tropical / botanical themed decor. Extensive drinks menu with a cocktail list with a good mix of the classics you’d expect and their house special recipes. The blood orange spritz was particularly good. I asked for a negroni sbagliato. Which is off menu but there was confusion into what it was and I told them the variant recipe of the standard negroni (which was on the menu). It came out very tasty but made me nervous if you wanted an off menu cocktail. Service was quick staff were easy to get orders from and you paid as you go. Music was a bit loud but would go back due to the quality of drinks.

My son had his birthday party here and he and his guests were well looked after by the manager. The barman Lewis was amazing I would recommend giving them a visit as the food was excellent thank you to all the team as we all had a night to remember well most of us anyway 🤣

We went here for their boozy brunch. The food and drinks were tasty. I ordered a croque monsieur, was served a croque madam, when the croque arrived it was not a proper croque it was just a toastie. Don’t get me wrong it was tasty but was not what I ordered. The service was very slow, luckily there were a set amount of drinks on the boozy brunch rather than it being a bottomless brunch as we would have been left disappointed otherwise due to how slow we were being served. We understand there were multiple large parties in the restaurant which was likely the reason for the slow service. The manager of the restaurant was attentive and was the only member of staff to notice us not having received our drinks so we do appreciate the effort he went to.

Had a lovely time at this bar with some friends while we were in York for the weekend. Stopped off as it seemed a nice place to grab a couple of cocktails and after much deliberation (less than a minute) we decided on getting the gin/martini tree. Looks expensive on paper but it was worth every penny, the cocktails included were some of the best I've had in a long time. The espresso martini was a definitely highlight. I'd definitely recommend and will be back in the future. Sadly I can't comment on the food but what we saw delivered to other tables looked and smelt amazing.

We arrived too late for the speedquiz but were able to answer a few questions between my hubby and I. A gentleman came to our table to compliment me on my daisy earrings *blush* I mentioned we are in York celebrating our 40th anniversary and he came back to us a few minutes later with glasses of prosecco 😁 I think we should mention our anniversary in every pub!! 😂😂

Para empezar tuvimos la mejor comida al lado en el restaurante hermano, pero luego vinimos aquí para tomar unas copas y qué broma absoluta! Nos dijeron que no podíamos tomar los 2 cócteles especiales por £ 14, ya que no éramos brazalete, pero así es como se describe en los menús que estaban en cada mesa! ¡Para luego ser desafiado por un licitador de bar muy desagradable cuya actitud era espantosa! ¡No vamos a volver porque esto ha dejado una sensación muy desagradable hacia el lugar que creo que la gente necesita algunas habilidades de creación de clientes!

Amazing food & great service +++

Rara vez actualizo reseñas aunque me encuentro constantemente mirándolas antes de visitar un lugar para tranquilidad. Sin embargo, hace unas semanas, visitamos York para nuestro aniversario de bodas y nos encontramos con un encantador salón de cócteles. Entramos y nos recibieron cálidamente, se nos mostró a una mesa, y nos pusimos cómodos. Durante esta visita, nos entregamos a cócteles solamente, sin probar la comida. Las instalaciones eran luminosas y la decoración era original pero llamativa. El personal era atento y bien versado en los cócteles que estaban haciendo. Nos sentimos muy cómodos, y el lugar tenía un gran ambiente. Tanto es así que dos semanas más tarde, visitamos de nuevo York – y no pude evitar volver. Esta vez, el ambiente era completamente diferente, ya que había un grupo en vivo, Just another Jester, tocando. Eran totalmente impresionantes y deberían ser contratados cada noche. El lugar estaba lleno, pero Stelios nos encontró una mesa junto a, increíblemente, dos de nuestros vecinos que también habían viajado 150 millas ese día. ¿Qué posibilidades hay? Went for offer as part of the York restaurant week, and got the 2 cocktails for £10 deal. While the deal was good Im not sure it was the place for me. The staff were quick to remove a glass as soon as you finished it, which while they may think this is positive left one feeling pressured into buying another. We went early about 5:30 as a stop off on our way to dinner so the atmosphere was a bit quiet, the country and western music playing seemed an odd choice as well. This may be a different experience later in the evening on a weekend but on a Monday at 5:30 I found it a little dull.

I have been to both Ate O'Clock and Social8 multiple times including hosting two years of our work Christmas parties there. The cocktails / food and staff are all excellent and they go above and beyond to make sure everyone that visits these family run venues has an amazing time. Highly recommended!

We visited for a pre-dinner drink as we were going to a restaurant close by. The interior is nicely decorated and the staff were pleasant. We enjoyed two glasses of white wine at a reasonable price.

Amazing venue, lovely to be in a venue that doesn't allow large rowdy groups in, enjoyed being able to sit chat to friends and listen to live music by Just Another Jester. Service by staff is amazing and Stelios is so knowledgeable and will do anything for you.

My girlfriend and I spent New Year's in York, and this bar was hands down our favorite spot! We were only there for three days, but we ended up coming back all three nights, thanks to Stelios and his amazing team. The service was top-notch, the food was delicious, and it’ll definitely be the first place I visit when I'm back in York next year. P.S. Stelios’ Old Fashioned was hands down the best I’ve ever had (and I’ve tried a lot over the years!). I won’t spoil the secret recipe, but trust me, it’s an easy 11/10. You’ll have to try it for yourself!

This is such a cute place to grab a drink - we don’t get food but I can only imagine that it would be amazing as-well. Cocktails are well priced at about £9 each and they were so delicious and a number of them come in really cool glasses. The staff are amazing and so friendly our waitress Mia was the best, so kind and friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. Compliments to the bar tender Simone as-well because the drinks were delicious.

Excellent food and service. Very welcoming, attentive staff. The business is family run and it has a warm, welcoming feel. We enjoyed it so much we came back again the next evening for another cocktail.

The owners have worked incredibly hard to make this a lovely welcoming place to spend an evening. On our recent trip to York, we fell upon this place on the first evening and were enticed in by the “small plates” as we had eaten earlier in the day and had not wanted a large meal. The food was lovely - and quite large portions considering they were supposed to be small plates. The cocktails were wonderful, I had the porn star martini and it was the nicest I have ever had. They had a young man singing as it was a Friday, he had a great voice and it was lovely to have some live background music. It was so nice, we came back the second night after dinner for a cheeky cocktail before bed. As before, the service was second to none, the owner remembered us and went out of his way to make conversation and make us feel welcome. Would definitely return and recommend 💕

Came across this while looking for a nice central location and menu. We weren’t disappointed on any front. Started with a coffee, had a tasty shared platter, finishing with a glass of wine. Perfect break while Christmas shopping. Nice ambiance.

Excellent atmosphere and attentive staff. Good location in the city centre. The food was delivered quickly and was delicious - croque monsieur and creamy potato soup with a side order of thick cut chips. Highly recommended.

Had the rum passion... I do not recommend this drink, place and staff are grande, but this is one very confused tipple ... I'm not sure that it knows what it wants to be, way to many things going on ... Its a confused mid life crisis in a glass . Avoid the rum passion

Just looking for a nice Quite Drink and small plates found a little piece of heaven, so relaxing and really attentive staff. The Cocktails 🍸 as they sould be flavoursome and a kick and the Bacardi and coke on ice a dream oh and the Tequila rose shots went down a treat great way to end the evening ps and the food was great

The food was delicious and worth every penny, especially the porkbelly which melts in the mouth, but unfortunately the drinks were quite underwhelming, would not recommend the shot of bloody york [though the presentation is gorgeous]

I almost never give reviews but this place is outstanding. We had several small plates that were all fantastic, but the pork belly in particular was one of the best dishes we have ever had anywhere. Unbelievable!

I was in for lunch and had a croque madam, where as my companion had the scrambled egg with smoked salmon both of which were very good.

We decided to call in for a sharing board and a few drinks. Staff very professional and friendly. Decor is beautiful. Good ambiance. Ordered the sharing board for myself and 18 year old daughter. Perfect portion size and lots of variety. It was delicious. Drinks and food arrived promptly. Can't fault this place at all and look forward to re-visiting with the rest of the family. Service faultless and price very reasonable. Positive vibes and love the decor. This is a good choice for a drink or drinks and food with family or friends. We weren't rushed in any way and would say it is ideal for any occasion.... looking for any excuse to return!

Lovely place but drinks order was wrong, rectified but wouldn't give us the spare drink and then charged us wrong so we had to pay the difference even though we had already sat down, still wouldn't give us the spare drink although we asked and tried to make a joke. Drink was sat on bar, what an unnecessary waste

Been here multiple times now. It is the perfect place for a late night drink. Vibe is great and the nuts are unreal. Stelios is so unbelievably welcoming, caring and kind. 100% recommend.

This was a great find. The small plates were delicious and super friendly service from Alli. A little noisy but probably just unlucky that we had some rather loud people behind us. Would definitely go again when we are next back in York

Only popped in for 1 drink with my partner and ended up walking away with our next holiday to Crete - from the incredibly friendly Stelios. (Drinks were fantastic and well balanced - so good we ended up having 3 more!)

Bit dissapointed went in for an offer on cocktails advertised to be told no this is stipulated in the menu once your inside so we, only had a beer and a cider, nachos and hallumi fries as a snack, paid with cash 40.00, when I received my change, they had taken the 3.50 service charge without asking, which is a bit naughty, didn't realise until I was outside. A lot of money for two drinks and 2 small plates

Social 8 Lounge hosted my 40th Birthday Party last weekend. I can’t thank you enough for the hospitality we received. From the very start of the planning, right up to the actual night. Connor and Emily have been fabulous in helping meet all my criteria and needs for the party I was hoping for. The Night itself was just amazing, all my close friends and family members together in one intimate, cosy, classy venue. I’d like to mention a special thank you to Ellie, who served us drinks and food upstairs in the private room for our family meal and helped set up before guests arrived, literally couldn’t of been any more helpful. And a huge thank you to Stelios who was our very own cocktail maker on the night! Super fun and express service which is exactly what was needed in a room full of Thirsty party people 😉 I had the Best Birthday Ever 🥳 Thank you all for making my night one I’ll always remember. You all delivered excellently, Top job to you all. I can’t wait to be back for my favourite cocktails🍹

We stepped in on the spur of the moment because there were some good sounds drifting out. The atmosphere was very pleasant with the staff happy to work with you. The music was live but finished too soon.

A beautifully presented cocktail bar with friendly staff and delicious cocktails . We came on a Sunday evening to listen to Evie Ivory who was fantastic It felt like we were watching a very talented girl who's voice is flawless, The bar staff we quick and the servers kept on top of providing refreshments.. A definite place to return the next time we stop in York !!

Great drinks, great service and a good atmosphere. Six of us went on Saturday night and really enjoyed it. We were eating at the restaurant next door so it was the perfect place for pre dinner drinks.

Every time we visit York we dine here. We’ve eaten 5 times this year alone already. Service and food is always great. Highly recommend the eggs Benedict and the salmon dish for lunch. Always a smile waiting for you.

We were lured in by the amazing voice of the female singer on Sunday early evening whilst at a loose end. What a great hour spent here!! 2 for £12 cocktails that were superb. Staff were brilliant and the singer (and her keyboard friend) incredibly talented. Worth a visit

Went for cocktails after we had dinner in ate o’clock, the staff was so kind with great service. The cocktails were soo delicious!! The Bar man Conor was so polite and passionate about cocktails when he make them. It was funny to have after 8 coctail. Especially eating at restaurants side. Wich called Ate Oclock :) Even he give us little explanation. We will be definitely back.

We popped in for couple of drinks, there was some invitations from disco ball heads, and we enjoyed a lot. The atmosphere was so cozy, and cheerful. Loved it!

Me and my partner visited here and what a fantastic experience we had. Great cocktails , staff were friendly and attentive the whole time. We were so lucky to grab a table as it was packed out. We decided to grab a bite to eat off the small plates menu, I had sliced steak which was cooked to perfection and my partner had the crispy pork belly cubes. The food came quick and was so tasteful. There was not one fault and we will definitely be visiting again soon

Loved this place even though we raised the average age a bit when we walked in!! Had a couple of great cocktails but there were still beers available for hubby who is really not a cocktail person.
