We started visiting Groovy Moo around 6 or 7 years ago and would call in for an ice cream literally every week and sometimes two or three times during the summer. They prided themselves on their huge "Yorkshire portions". The quality of the ice cream is second to none and we love it. However just after Covid they increased their prices, understandably, but also reduced the portion sizes significantly from 5 flavours to 3 with a large tub. They tried to say you get the same portion however this is nonsense as we have photos to show how they used to be, We didn't go for quite some time but recently started visiting again. Yesterday we called in and I asked for my usual large tub and the young girl serving gave me around a half to two thirds of the week before. I questioned this, giving the opportunity to top it up but she didn't. There needs to be more continuity of portion sizes. I just left feeling annoyed and the £5:50 paid was definitely not worth it. I think it will be a long time before we go in again. I love ice cream and the long drive for us would be rewarded with a good value ice cream portion, sadly this is no longer the case!

Came here with my boyfriend Gary, and what a fantastic place. Such a good idea with the lockers, we had a lovely table, candle was replaced immediately, the atmosphere is just right and nice back ground music.. Service quick and efficient and the toilets were spot on, clean, tidy, well maintained (I cannot stand a wonky loo seat) lovely soap. We have put our names on the wait list for a locker and I look forward to coming back. Thank you James.

The Brass Castle Tap House is typical of the genre and is reasonably roomy and nicely done out. Obviously, real ales are the principal raison d’etre here and from the ones on offer we chose the best bitter which was in excellent condition and very good. The atmosphere was also very nice and we enjoyed our visit.

We spent a very rainy morning of our holiday here with our 21 month old, the staff are really friendly and helpful and there is a fabulous relaxed atmosphere. Our little absolutely loved the soft play and happily spent at least a couple of hours climbing, sliding and running and she would probably have stayed longer! We had a pleasant lunch of baked potatoes and warm baguettes. We would definitely visit again if we were in the area! Our only very slight suggestion would be to get some new batteries for some of the role play toys . Overall a really enjoyable experience, well done guys you really are doing a wonderful job! I wish there was something like this local to us!!

Excellent quality coffee in both espresso and flat white. Friendly Yorkshire staff, lovely surroundings. Nothing to fault here.

With the pub being divided into a few little snug areas, it has a very cosy and relaxing ambience. The design and decor are very much in the traditional style as befits the age and style of the building. We enjoyed good service and good beer and would certainly visit again.

Clean, comfortable, thoughtful. Can recommend. Not over the top but exactly what one needs for a weekend away. Quality furnishings/finish and things like big towels, different firmness of pillows and blanket options to suit different sleep preferences. Lovely community, even though we were next to the pub garden in sunny day, it was all pleasant chatter rather than drunk mayhem. I’d stay again if passing through.

Basic accomodation but at £52 per night incl breakfast that's very good value. Had room 7 on a Sunday night, on the side of the property so away from any real road noise. Had the roast for evening meal along with apple crumble, both were superb along with the Theakstons. All in all a pleasurable stay.

As tables have menus I sat for quite a while waiting to be served; a lady came eventually and told me ordering was at the counter (shame it didn't say that on the menu, unless I missed it). Nice warmed cheese scone and rather small cup of Americano, as their standard size. Looked like some lovely sausage rolls etc. on display.

Matthew was behind the bar and overseeing everything around the pub even with regards the food that was perfectly cooked, presented and priced. The flavours were amazing, home cooked Tomato and Pepper soup and then i had the home cooked steak and ale pie which was magnificent and the filling and gravy was amazing. I strongly recommend a visit. Staff excellent. Food amazing, price well worth every penny. We will definitely be visiting again in the not too distant future. All in all a great evening of food and drink. Made to feel so welcome from a call earlier on in the day to make sure a table could be secured then upon arrival treated exceptionally well. A must for anyone around the area or passing through.
