Chapter Two Bar and Accommodation in Ryedale

Unfortunately we were sadly disappointed two barmaids on duty we very busy talking to themselves - we were finally served our drinks - we asked re the food menu and it had four items on it- we decided on two sharing platters - they certainly came faster than the drinks! I’ve never had a scotch egg that the bread crumb has come away from the sausage meat? No cutlery arrived with the boards - non of us thought they were sharing boards as there was only really enough for one! Sorry we felt very disappointed

We visited this wonderful place back in June for a drink and because of the welcome we decided to stay in December. The room was fantastic, beautifully decorated and so cosy and clean. The lovely Emily and her bar staff are lovely and helpful . The quiz on a Thursday hosted by the wonderful Rory is a great laugh and so well put together. The place has a lovely welcoming feel and we had a lovely relaxing stay we will definitely be back xx

Only went in for a couple of drinks. Staff always very friendly and efficient, very nice draught beer and a good choice of other drinks.

A group of 19 of us, aged 50-60 visited Malton and chose this bar for a quick drink. We were not disappointed, friendly and efficient staff, lovely pub and atmosphere and a nice mint baileys on the house. Although we popped in for one drink, we stayed all afternoon! Thank you Chapter Two, would definitely return if we visit Malton again

Me and my boyfriend stayed in Malton and we were told about the pub quiz so we came to the pub for that. But what a fantastic pub! The manager was amazing and what a great pub quiz. We had so much fun and the food looked amazing but we had just eaten but the crisp bowls were good (thanks) We were made to feel like locals and everyone was so friendly.

Service was excellent 👌 location is fine didn't stay in the rooms so not sure how nice they are but guess they will be perfect

Me and the wife Sue Glyn Have just spent a fantastic weekend at Chapter Two Bar and accommodation in Malton We were greeted by Maddie who checked us in did a marvellous job and showed us to our room the room was brilliant very big with en-suite it had been recently refurbished and looked very nice very clean and tidy fresh towels crisp and clean felt very at home we saw the owners Bethany &Emily who also greeted us whilst there and had a lovely time chatting to them both before we left for home thank you for letting us stay in one of your newly redecorated rooms you’ve done a fantastic job also would like to say spent time in the bar area which was excellent very warm and friendly we will certainly be returning to do it all again

Popped in here as we usually do when in Malton. This time the food festival was on though appeared to be depleted in stalls and people from our previous visits. We went to Chapter two for a drink and early lunch which consisted of a sharing board. We were greeted by the lovely Emily who has just taken over the place from her father. She is very friendly and we had a lovely chat. I asked for some crackers to go with our sharing board which already had the most lovely pork pie and scotch egg on from the local butcher. She happily did this and also added some additional brie to the cheddar that was already on. Emily has plans to relaunch the pub soon though maybe not until January. She has a lot of good ideas and alongside the friendly welcome we got from the rest of the staff, nice lunch and drinks I am sure she will do well. Give it a try - you won't be disappointed :)

Called in for an early doors drink as we do occasionally. As always the atmosphere was good and we were very well looked after by Emma. Back soon.

Lovely pub. Often pop in for a pint and the atmosphere is always great, all the locals are friendly! Quiz night every other Thursday is well worth going to as well.

Can’t beat the staff in this warm and friendly bar. Can’t wait to come and stay for a long weekend. Always happy to come here.

I appreciate it’s a pub lol - but there seemed nowhere to go for a nice cuppa at tea time , so my daughter and I saw that Chapter Two accommodated that need, we both sat at the front of the pub for a lovely chillax , and I had a lovely pot of tea - with lush millionaires shortbread - soya milk available no problem - friendly and efficient staff - nice welcoming courtyard area at the rear - Dog friendly ……..coming soon 👀 Guest Saxophonist - Prosecco and Canapés ticketed event Bank Holiday 25th August tickets only £12 !! Second time here in two years. Here for the Ryedale Festival. Charming garden. Really friendly welcoming staff. Nice atmosphere.

Rudgate brewery on cask when we visited. All very nice. Australian fruit pale ale 🫡. Little beer yard around the back .

Popped in for a swift drink before an event I was attending in Malton. Small selection of real ale (2 or 3) good selection of other drinks on tap. Friendly staff, good service, well kept beer, clean, comfortable surroundings EDIT: Chapter two is fast becoming my 'go to' place when I am in Malton. Been in both with and without the dog for a drink and went in with the dog (and the husband) for lunch one Saturday. The place was full, lots of people eating, we were told on arrival that service was approximately 20 minutes longer than usual due to the high volume of customers. We were kept updated on the waiting time and staff were absolutely lovely. The ploughman's was lovely and served with a little glass of cider and my husband had the Nacho's off the specials board which he thoroughly enjoyed.

Just called in for Nachos as had them before as great, not disappointed. However ordered a half of Diet Coke and my wife had water, when settling bill I was charged £3.40 for the half of coke I queried this and was told by bar person I always ask if you want a half or pint as pint is only 50p more,I said you did not add the snippet of pint only 50p more. I feel they are just out to rob you by charging so much for a half and not advising small increase for the pint. Bar person had permanent smirk on face when pointing this out, we will never return despite good nachos and would recommend you all to ask for drinks menu before ordering.

Had a good pint there today... just hope they keep a good bitter on tap in the future as they usually only have naff light ale on tap... be really awesome if they introduced a ruby ale on tap, just saying...

A hidden gem - home made soup , homemade warm scones , friendly staff. Don’t let the decor put you off . We had a cracking lunch here and will favour it above some of the more pretentious locations next time.

Lovely pub, nice cosy decor. Great beers-our favourite, Brixton! I wanted to write this review as a Thankyou for what did for me this weekend. I left my handbag in there, which contained quite a few valuables plus some cash. A staff member found it and kept it safe for me until I realised the next day. Such relief to have it returned, and shows how trustworthy the staff are for it to be untouched. Thanks again.

If you are a local more than welcome. If you are a tourist putting money into the economy NO. We went to this establishment & were enjoying a pleasant drink & chat then in walked the BOTOX crowd ignorant people who obviously thought they were better than anyone else. One if the group thought it was acceptable to just park a high chair wherever they wanted with no regard for the people behind him. Then one of the women thought she could look at us like dirt. The staff pandered to the locals with no regard to other paying customers. PLEASE AVOID THIS PLACE ON A WEEKEND AFTER 4 PM WHEN THE LOCAL PRETENTIOUS PEOPLE ARRIVE AS YOU ARE NOT WELCOME.

Great local pub. Enjoyed the comfortable atmosphere and the good choices of drink and pub snacks. All the staff were great and very friendly and welcoming.

Very friendly pub/bar. Excellent home cooked food at extremely reasonable price. We had very good coffee. Also shared soup, delicious home made curried carrot, a cheese scone, also delicious, with extra grated cheese and pickle and a lovely little salad. All for £5.50! Absolute bargain! It seems like a friendly community hub, very busy, which is not surprising!

Desperately needed a cup of tea when we turned up in the gorgeous quaint Malton this afternoon. We sat in the garden due to having our small dog with us. The young lady behind the bar was extremely helpful and told us she would bring a pot of tea for two out to us. Well, the tea tasted absolutely wonderful and the pot size was extremely generous. The young lady was very polite&pleasant. Malton is absolutely delightful.

Had a nice glass of wine in the back yard/beer garden. Place had a nice local vibe. The other people seemed to know each other with everyone saying hi as they came and went. Very pleasant staff

Great little find in Malton. Friendly helpful staff, attentive and informative. We had a lovely twin room overlooking the courtyard. Loved the comfortable quilt and pillows, clean and comfortable, great nights sleep. Plenty of tea/coffee/milk and biscuits and two bottles of water. The pub does great food and beer/cocktails etc, the cheese scones were great. Can highly recommend this place for a reasonably priced stay in Malton, not far from the station and a short walk to local shops, bars etc…

Had Sunday lunch. Homemade soup was delicious. Lamb and trimmings great! Cauliflower Cheese prepared to perfection. Cheese Cake lovely with accompanying cream and sauce. All the staff were top class, made you feel at home. No long delays between courses either. Dog friendly too. Great value for money compared to most. Definitely worth a try. Think you need to book as it’s popular.

Just enjoyed Sunday lunch at Chapter 2. Congratulations to the staff for a superb meal and excellent service. After a recent refurbishment Chapter 2 has begun a new venture of providing lunch on a Sunday and my wife and I can heartily recommend it.

We dropped in off the street as a group of seven friends, looking for somewhere to have a mid morning snack. The staff were extremely welcoming and helped move a few chairs so we could sit together. We stayed for drinks and brunch and had a choice from a good menu. Delightful Place and would highly recommend.

A nice friendly bar but be warned expensive in comparison to others in the town. Offers a loyalty card. Must be pre loaded in the prices they charge. A smidge under £30 for 4 drinks!! Can’t fault the decor or the staff but ouch! Hurts...

Really great atmosphere here, you feel at home - think it's due to a lovely light fire, chatty staff & cosy sitting areas - didn't eat anything but will be going back & maybe will try a little something from their tasty looking snack menu.

Nice pint nice pub did not like malton

Stayed here for two nights, really comfortable room, thought it might be noisy staying at a pub but wasn’t the case at all as the rooms are off a quiet courtyard at the back. Helpful friendly staff, they even took a parcel delivery for us before we arrived. One minor comment - they could do with cleaning the small amount of black mould in the shower however the water pressure is fantastic 🙂

£3.10 for a glass of coke 😯 and £7.50 for a toasted sandwich. Wow nice nice place but very expensive. My husband asked for a pint but was told it couldn't be served as not cold enough! .one poor girl doing all the orders and services she was very nice . Sandwich was very nice.. I work very hard full time as do the whole party that was with me ..I'm well aware of the past & present situation we are all in your not the only business effected .I only stated the drink was expensive because it was I also said how nice the food was . As for the young girl she did a excellent job .. I never said anything about waiting time ? Or the service so may be Mr owner you should think before you reply Regards

not really happy with the rooms needs decorating cob web in corner smelt of damp ,could not keep the winow up with out wedging somthing under it .worst of all i went to wash my hands in the sink and it was red hot i could have made a cuppa with it my mates next door was the same a child would have been burnt not good

Friendly staff and lovely atmosphere. The only downside being its contribution to the fact that Malton is an expensive place to drink, somewhat unjustifiably considering quality itself. But the place and people are lovely.

Nice place on the market Square. Free WiFi. Friendly service. There's a courtyard out back. Beer choice is OK. I had a half pint of copper Dragon golden pippin for 2 quid.
