A lovely friendly bakery, just one wee table to sit and and have a coffee and observe the comings and goings of the regulars, the holiday makers and day trippers. Bread and cakes wonderful, a lovely lady owns this place and I wish her well!

Very nice lady baker, but for coffee a no-go. Tasted fine but nowhere to sit except in the yard. Shop and yard full of clutter and not clean. Health Service?

This bakery sells proper bread and cakes and is far superior to the chain baker which also operates in this town. There is a variety of bread on offer and all is exceptionally good. The rye with ale goes particularly well with cheese. The tea cakes are equally tasty and festive cakes at Easter and Christmas a particular delight Keep up the good work!

I'm a regular, which says it all. I pride myself on my own hand-kneaded bread, but this is its equal! It's this sort of thing which helps make for a high quality of life.

I have visited this bakery several times regularly while staying nearby. I have to say that the bread Jane makes is probably the best I've ever eaten in the UK. It's made with wonderful local organic flower, smells beautiful when you buy it and is often naturally straight out of the bakers oven. Jane also makes delicious savoury items like vegetable quiches and cheese scones. She also has delicious date and peanut flap jacks and Yorkshire parkin amongst other things. You can also buy a wide range of other products such as organic coffee and delicious organic porridge. There are also homemade jams, chutneys and sauces available. Jane shop is a tremendous asset to Kirby and she charges very reasonable prices for very high quality produce. I would recommend her shop to anyone without hesitation. Many thanks Jane - you are providing a brilliant service - long may it continue. All the Best Oliver.

We ordered light lunch. It was freshly prepared and delicious. My husband had very tasty soup of the day and I had the ploughman's lunch, which was so substantial I shared with my husband. It was good value, served with excellent coffee by very friendly staff. The homemade bread from the bakery is exceptional.

This was our first visit to York and we decided to have a drive out to the moors. We initially stopped at Hovingham tea rooms and the staff were so rude we left and toddled on to Kirkymoorside where we came across Summit coffee house. The staff were so welcoming and extremely helpful. The food was really lovely and the tea was superb, cost was very cheap. We left the Summit feeling very happy, all the ladies gave us that lovely Yorkshire welcome we were expecting. Will DEFINITELY go back!

Stopped for a snack and headed to this family run cafe and bakery. We both enjoyed a lovely bowl of soup with a great tasty brown mini loaf - also a portion of bread and butter pudding with custard - yummy. Very friendly staff who took the time to have a chat. We are on a break to the area from the New Forest and hope to take some of their goodies home.

We asked Jane if she could possibly accommodate some rowdy girls for hot chocolate, sandwiches and buns as part of birthday celebrations, and she was an absolute star. We were given a private room. She came in within our budget. Buns became a birthday cake complete within indoor firework candle. And Jane was happy to allow us to be flexible on time.It really did make life easy for us, the stressed parents. And then, the food was also wonderful! Sandwiches made with delicious bread from the on-site bakery. Gorgeous hot chocolate (without marshmallows for the vegetarians) and the lightest, fluffiest lemon cake. (Did I mention we got a choice of birthday cake flavours too?)Great food, great value, and customer service that really went beyond our expectations. Fantastic!

A small but spacious coffee house / cafe / bakery. We had the afternoon cream tea, which was excellent value with freshly made sandwiches and gluten free scones and cakes. Will make a point of calling in next time we pass.Double yellow lines outside but plenty of free parking over the road and close by.

We were delighted to find Summit Coffee house and enjoy a superb lunch during our recent holiday. We were looking for gluten free, dairy free and dog friendly. Not the easiest combination, but Summit were able to meet our requirements.A very friendly welcome, lovely relaxed atmosphere, great service, delicious food and drink, and incredibly good value. We enjoyed toasted sandwiches and cakes. The gluten free bread is one of the best we have ever tasted and is also available to order through the bakery. Summit coffee house and bakery is a real gem, we had a great visit and hope to return next time we're in the area.

What a great find, one minute from the Kirbymoorside roundabout on the main Helmsley - Pickering road. Lovely homemade baking, we really enjoyed the toasted scones, lime & coconut cake or lemon cake & a lovely tea and coffee. It was an added bonus to be able to take our two small dogs in, as they have a separate area room. Computer and updated WiFi are available. A great stop off from the hustle & bustle of Helmsley & Pickering.

Stopped in one day looking for a cheese sandwich and coffee and now travel to the place as often as I can to buy the bread and cakes etc. You can sit in the coffee shop eating a nice selection of great home made stuff (and I mean home-made, right there in the shop) or you can take a peek into the adjoining bakery shop part and watch them making the bread and cakes, but be warned, once smelled , you will buy :-) There a whole variety of bread, cakes, chutneys, jams etc. all at a price that puts the rest of the village to shame. This is no tourist trap like some of the other places, this is genuine home made food, exceptionally friendly staff and prices spot on. And the cheese sandwich and coffee were just what was required. Sorry if I sound like an advert for the place, but I am just genuinely enthusiastic about anywhere that is good, and like to spread the word about my favorite places.

Kirkbymoorside "Gateway to the moors"Having spent an interesting but wet tramp on the moors we needed somewhere to upload library books to our kobo readers in preparation for the forecast even wetter weather to come and so stopped off in Kirkbymoorside looking for wi-fi zones. The notice on the window proclaimed "muddy boots and well behaved dogs welcome" a second notice identified it as a free wifi-zone. We qualified on all 3 accounts. We ordered an Hazelnut cappucino and Americano. Together with lime and coconut, gluten free, sponge.Refreshing to find gluten-free at the same price as normal. The Cappucino and sponge were delightful and the Americano, in an extraordinarily large cup, was absolutely to my taste.(strong)Given the area and the quality of our order, warm welcome and service we were pleasantly suprised at the price. This was our first but not our last visit to this establishment

Booked the brewery tour package from Red Letter days. The tour was very informative with Josh being a fountain of knowledge and obviously loving brewing and beer. His witty remarks and low key humour really made the tour enjoyable. The beer tasting in the bar was flexible and offered a pint taken eith as a pint, two halves or a flight of 3, third pints to enable a range to be tried! Although a small brewery they have some quite advanced mechanisation for bottling, canning and casking! Very impressed,

Decent choice of food available however we ordered pie mash Mushy peas and gravy. Only had 1 pie (so got a pasty as there was 2 of us) Mash was made from a jacket potato it was very lumpy tinned peas over blasted in the microwave served with a smile however forgot the gravy and it arrived half way through us eating the meal. Sadly this place could be a little gold mine if run correctly and proper attention to detail applied with the food. We hafmd our lunch at 12.15 so there was no way they could have ran out of mash? Could do better really
