Staff were friendly, food & drink was very expensive which would have been ok if it was top notch. The breakfast was nice. The room could have been better, didn’t like the hole behind the toilet as the kitchen smells came up & the room stunk of fish. Also the wardrobe needed cleaning as full of cobwebs.

Was recently here as a base for visiting flamingo land. It is a fantastic gem of a hotel, with very friendly owners and staff. A lovely bar, serves excellent food and all well priced. The Wentworth arms was a lovely welcoming place. We stayed for one night with my wife and I in a double room, my two daughters in another double room and , as we call her our adopted daughter in another room. From the word go, the staff were welcoming and very friendly. My best opinion. Value for money fantastic, food, fantastic, rooms are really clean . Our ensuite bathroom was clean, slight gripe and only one was the shower ceiling Could do with attention. But I am only saying that to help this business. The breakfast staff were friendly and a nice freshly cooked meal with orange juice, tea, coffee, cereals . If you want posh, this is not for you. But if you want a proper value for money place to stay, with clean rooms , it really is for you. Also you have a great community pub, and bar meals were reasonably priced. Thank you all the staff. We will be back. Phil, Julie ,Jade,Laura, and not forgetting Emily

First rate welcome, we hadn’t booked, suggest you do, but they went out of their way to accommodate us on a very busy Sunday. Great choice of menu options, it was hard to choose. We settled on prawn cocktail, creamy garlic mushrooms on sourdough and breaded Brie - massive portion. Followed this with gammon, eggs and chips declared as delicious, 2 roast beef dinners - massive portions, top quality beef, and veg, horseradish sauce was exceptional and great Yorkshire pudding. Service was friendly and attentive. We didn’t really need desserts but they were too good to miss out on. Lemon curd cheesecake, jam Roly poly and custard, winter fruits pavlova. We loved them all. Faultless meal with superb service, highly recommended.

This was booked for 1 night only for my Husband whilst working in the area and so pleased it was just for the 1 as he never got an hours sleep. He had a room with a street light right outside the window, no black out blind so that kept him awake. The single glazed window also didn't help as the main road is busy so can hear everything that goes past. The staff were nice, evening meal was good but in with the price is breakfast which he couldn't have as its 8am when it's served (no good for workers whom start at 7.30am) therefore not getting money worth Will he stay again ABSOLUTELY NOT

Have tried several times to make contact but no reply either through their website or their facebook page.Booked table for 9 of my family 6 adults and 3 children under 12.Order taken for food,1 hour later still waiting.Asked why the delay was told very busy due to the £10 off scheme. At no point during the 1 hour wait were we asked if everything was ok.The food was served and one of our tables had no cutlery. After asking another waitress for the cutlery it duly arrived 6 mins later.By this time my Haddock and chips were getting cold so i expressed my concern and asked for the manager. This is where it all went downhill! The manager (?) came and said they had already apologised and what did i want, before i could reply she said do you want me to give you half of your money back when you are getting it half price anyway!I replied saying no but some better communication would have helped instead of just leaving us for 1 hour and if you were having problems with demand why take the booking?.Her reply,'I wasnt in and had i have been wouldnt have taken your booking!.(is there a training issue for staff here?).My reply was well its not my problem i just want food and service for my booking. This was now becoming like a scene from 'Fawlty Towers!' when the manager said 'i have apologised, turned around and walked away sticking her tongue out!!.(this was reported to me by other customers sat nearby. The whole episode was witnessed by 8 other people who were all flabergasted at what they had witnessed. At this point we decided to pay up in full and leave as their was no point in trying to compromise. As i said at the begining i have tried to contact The Wentworth Arms through their website and facebook pages but three days later no reply! My family attend this area on a regular basis and yes you are right we will never attend here again.Awful customer service 'Wentworth Arms' SHAME ON YOU!.

The Wentworth Arms is also a B&B; this review is just for the restaurant, which serves typical pub fare at moderate prices. Chicken & tarragon pie was excellent, but let down slightly by new potatoes with very scabby skins (I'd have scrubbed them off first) and seasonal veg that was unexciting (carrots, cabbage and - I'm sure - frozen peas: nothing too seasonal for mid-June!). This was accompanied by home made beef gravy in a little jug - I'll be honest, I don't see the point of this being served with a chicken pie. But the beer was reasonably priced with three excellent draught ales on tap.

We were on our way back this Sunday from the Dales when we came across this pub by the side of the B6428 in Staincross. First we didn’t have any high hopes as normally we won’t eat pub food but being desperately hungry we gave it a go. The ambience was great, it seemed that it must be favoured by local people as there were couples and families having their Sunday dinners and the place is also pet friendly. Our food came promptly, my wife had roast beef with Yorkshire pudding, mash potato and mixed vegetables and I went for a gammon steak with pineapple, fries and peas. Both dishes were presented nicely and equally tasty. We were staying at a local campsite called Wysehouse Farm, this pub was at the end of a walk along the side of an embankment. We visited late afternoon and had a few drinks before the food started about 5:30pm. The staff were friendly and they quickly cleared the table so we could sit down. The pub is dog friendly and they also had an idea high chair which was suitable for our toddler. I couldn't see any baby changing facilities but this is common I have found in old country pubs. The food reviews are quite a mixed bag within our group, I ordered a burger which came with onion rings and chips. I really enjoyed this meal it was presented really well, I would comment that it did have some pink meat inside which I couldn't eat but I would recommend this meal and have it again but I would ask for it to be well done. My family ordered steak and ale pie with traditional vegetables, they all didn't enjoy it. My other half normally loves all food but he left his pie. The gravy had a Chinese all spice flavouring and this was really strong and over powering. It should state on the menu that this pie is not a traditional steak and ale pie. The chips that were served were similar to a Chinese takeaway which went down a treat with me and my little girl but my family didn't enjoy them on their cooked dinners.

Sorry but those as our first time for food, and whilst the pub was lovely and welcoming the food was awful, I can't say anything better than that. My husband ordeeed an ok chicken pie with chips tasting like a Chinese takeaway chips!! My order was was a beef dinner. The beef was fatty and stringey, processed and warm. The roasties were shocking. Dark brown, not roasted but frozen new heated up or deep fried! Not cooked inside, two Yorkshire heavy puddings veg and congealed gravy, sorry but had say wouldn't pay for the beef dinner, the bar staff graciously accepted this but did she wished I had said earlier, which maybe i should have done but was hoping it would be ok, really sorry I had to do a bad review, but really as a chef how could you think that dish looked acceptable let alone be nice,,

My partner and I came in here at 8pm in the hopes of a late meal after an appointment. We were delighted to find they were still serving and were shown to a table. Orders were taken and food wasn't long before it arrived. There was a decent selection on the menu and I settled with Steak & Ale pie with chips and veg and my partner had the beef filled giant Yorkshire pud and chips.

Our host Ian recommended this pub for something to eat, he even called ahead and booked us a table. They do a Friday night special of fish and chips and it was just amazing, not only was the food great but also the people. We will certainly be returning in the very near future.

I recently stayed with my partner at The Wentworth Arms in Old Malton. I was really pleased with our comfortable, spacious and well equipped en suite room. It was clean and tidy, the shower was good and a full English breakfast set us up nicely for the day.

On a ride over to Whitby from Donny with my friends we used Old Malton as our lunch break as the weather was turning grim...and we'd 75 miles in our legs!

The Wentworth Arms is already listed as a hotel, but we called into the attached pub/restaurant for lunch on the way to Whitby. The place was obviously very popular as we had to wait about 20 minutes for a table.

We spent a very rainy morning of our holiday here with our 21 month old, the staff are really friendly and helpful and there is a fabulous relaxed atmosphere. Our little absolutely loved the soft play and happily spent at least a couple of hours climbing, sliding and running and she would probably have stayed longer! We had a pleasant lunch of baked potatoes and warm baguettes. We would definitely visit again if we were in the area! Our only very slight suggestion would be to get some new batteries for some of the role play toys . Overall a really enjoyable experience, well done guys you really are doing a wonderful job! I wish there was something like this local to us!!

A lovely friendly bakery, just one wee table to sit and and have a coffee and observe the comings and goings of the regulars, the holiday makers and day trippers. Bread and cakes wonderful, a lovely lady owns this place and I wish her well!

Unfortunately, I agree with the people who were shocked at the cost of the food. We ordered food that was priced at £4.85 if you eat in, then were told that they could add a salad on to it for us as a meal deal, the salad was priced at under £3, we had 2 coffees,£3.60 each yet were charged almost £19! When we queried this, we were told it was because we were eating inside? We'd already paid a premium for this so it really didn't make sense. I definitely wouldn't go back. I left feeling we'd been deliberately ripped off.

The Bay Horse Inn in Burythorpe is an excellent pub - very cosy, attractively decorated and with two fire places (at least!) ensuring the place is warm throughout. An excellent range of Old Mill beers on tap, including their Traditional Bitter, of which I couldn’t get enough. We were there every night of our week’s stay in Burythorpe - in fact James, behind the bar, practically had my pint ready for me as I walked in the door after the 2nd evening. The owners and staff were all very friendly, and the food delicious - we ate in the pub four times, with food ranging from burgers, vegetable tarts, pizzas and excellent fish and chips, we were more than satisfied each time. For such a welcoming, cosy village-feel pub with a great warm atmosphere, my only hope is it gets busier over time - perhaps because Burythorpe is a small village, at times we were the only customers in, but it deserves a lot more custom. We’re absolutely hoping to be able to go back at some point.
