Came here with my boyfriend Gary, and what a fantastic place. Such a good idea with the lockers, we had a lovely table, candle was replaced immediately, the atmosphere is just right and nice back ground music.. Service quick and efficient and the toilets were spot on, clean, tidy, well maintained (I cannot stand a wonky loo seat) lovely soap. We have put our names on the wait list for a locker and I look forward to coming back. Thank you James.

A nice quirky place to enjoy wine or spirits. A massive selection of whisky available for the discerning. Wine good. Good choice of music to help the ambience.

Visited twice whilst in the area on holiday from Cardiff. Staff are amazing and happily explained the menu. They are so enthusiastic it was a great experience. I would thoroughly recommend this unique and special place if you are in the area. We have not stopped telling people about this gem of a place and the locker idea ❤️

A lovely, quiet venue with great drinks menu. Tucked behind a secret door and with friendly staff, was lovely to sit and have a few drinks. The music was good, drinks were very good. We just wish it had a few more people is for a bit more atmosphere, but was still a great find.

A real find. Tucked away behind a whisky shop, past the secret door and up the stairs you'll find a little gem of a bar. Chat to the barman, listen to the recommendations and relax. Just what you need after a long day eating the treats that Malton provides!

The library bar is fantastic. From it's "secret" entrance to the unique interior decor and super friendly, helpul staff. A must visit place in Malton on anybody's list.

Fabulous find! Lovely tiny secret bar. Gorgeous Christmas cocktails by candlelight above a little shop. Go to the back and through the ‘bookshelf’ hidden door.

The Library is one of those places that's so good you have to carefully decide if you really want everyone else to know about it or should it just remain a closely guarded secret. The atmosphere is what I can imagine a Prohibition era speakeasy would have been and this is only enhanced by the need to know which book on the shelf will open the hidden front door! Once you make it inside the staff are amazing, both friendly and knowledgable about the wide range of quality drinks on offer. Along the back wall you'll notice neatly presented 'lockers' that are owned by a select few to store drinks bought from the equally excellent whisky shop downstairs and further enhancing the slightly illicit feel of the place. Needless to say I strongly recommend you take the time to check out The Library - just don't tell anyone else about it.

The Brass Castle Tap House is typical of the genre and is reasonably roomy and nicely done out. Obviously, real ales are the principal raison d’etre here and from the ones on offer we chose the best bitter which was in excellent condition and very good. The atmosphere was also very nice and we enjoyed our visit.

What a great little find! Coming from Scarborough we’d never been for a light lunch in Pickering but we called in today to be greeted by a familiar accent. All the team were super helpful and when I told them I had a dairy intolerance they knew just what to do to make me feel at ease. I would throughly recommend this to everyone! Top food, top service and most of all top people x Thank you

Arrived at The Middleton Arms at 6pm and was greeted by James and Mandy(said hello to the chef as we walked past kitchen window) shown to our seats. Ordered drinks at the bar then James came for our order. Fish and chips for me lasagne salad and chips for the birthday boy steak and ale pie for the son fish goujons and chips for granddaughter and sausage chips and peas for grandson. We all really enjoyed our meals and would recommend you to try.
