A great place to meet up for a day out or just for a drink and food with speed boats rides weekends and bank holidays and lots more, also classic car shows once a month starting in April.

The vintage tea rooms are beautiful and the food was delicious. Fresh sandwiches where you could chose your filings and the cakes are scrumptious. The staff are very accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. If you are an afternoon tea lover you will fall in love with this place.

The George is a place of great historical interest, a classic coaching Inn with the archway to the coachyard can still be seen. It still has a cosy, comfortable feel in the bar area particularly which was busy when we went there. It is renowned for holding events from weddings to meetings and lectures and works hard to maintain a successful business. The dining room wraps around the side of the hotel and it offers a Carvery was a consistent feature. We opted for the a la carte but liver was off the menu so carvery was the answer. Following a generous portion of pate starter we went for the Carvery. The Turkey was soft and tasty, equally the beef not overdone or dry. The Yorkshire was fine and the gravy tasty. My colleague had a fish from the carvey but which was prepared freshly. Service was friendly and informal.

Nipped in today and wish I hadn't. Staff were surly and indifferent. We had to clear a table ourselves. Ordered two teas and and a cheese salad sandwich. Then had to wait 15 minutes for them to arrive. Tea was really nice but the sandwich was dry and served on a slate! All in all a pretty dissapointing experience.

We at Sunday lunch at The Plough. The roast beef was absolutely gorgeous and it came with all of the extras. The vegetables were delicious and plentiful. The pudding was also delicious, I had the salted caramel and chocolate tart. The service was good and the girls were very pleasant. My only gripe would be we weren't given a fork to eat our sweet with and the plate given to me was very small, it was difficult to eat given the size of the plate. Also no finesse re the presentation of the puddings. No icing sugar or a sprig of mint, nothing. My friend had the icecream and it was served in a white pudding bowl. That said we would return as the main was delicious.

Disappointing first visit, on arrival we asked if we could add 3 to our bottomless group, rather than speaking directly to us the chef/manager? shouted at her staff in a passive aggressive manner telling them how adding 3 was impossible and what had they all been told, so so rude and unprofessional, steak was inedible, drinks were weak and anything decent was an extra £10 on top of the £40 each we had paid. So loud in there you have to shout to have a conversation. On leaving the manager shouted to her staff “bottomless group leaving have they all paid” so so unprofessional, we had paid the bill that was wrong by £80 . Poor poor poor , two ladies serving were fantastic and really hard working , manager / cook ?whatever she is was shamefull., no reply after 5 weeks says a lot🤔

Lovely proper cafe! Will definitely be my new local. Staff were so friendly. My sausage and egg bap was delicious! We paid £15 for two coffees, a large breakfast and a breakfast bap! So pleased. We would have paid at least double that anywhere else in Lichfield! Will come again

Extremely disappointed! Tent was very dirty, tables and seating area also dirty with small bugs crawling over it. Also a very damp smell, I know it can’t be helped with the bark on the floor and the nature of the seating environment. But still unpleasant.. waited 40 minutes for food to arrive which was shocking considering at one point we were the only family in the tent. Drinks arrived 5 minutes before food, so that was a 35 minute wait for drinks which consisted of a £4.50! Cappuccino which came luke warm, an orange juice and a flat glass of coke. When food finally arrived, my husband mentioned the plate his food (breakfast wrap) was on was wet and smelt funny like it either hadn’t been washed properly or was still wet from the dishwasher. Other food was cold and looks as it had been thrown on the plate. By this time my 5 year old was agitated and very hungry and to be honest I would have rather had just gone home but after paying a total of £45 for our food we decided to stick it out and wait. Wont be returning at all as I have recently now seen that they were awarded a 0 star hygiene rating in OCT 2024 and are still able to trade which is slightly concerning.
