Caroline our server was very attentive. Customer service focused. Would recommend.

Nice decor and ambience especially with the creek beside the restaurant and outdoor seatings. We were a group of 10 and they had a private dining area which was lovely. Had to say it was a little pricey even for us coming from the US. Portions could have been a little bigger to justify the price. Still a nice place to hangout with family and friends.

5 Stars Had a fantastic experience at The Tame Otter! From the moment we arrived, our waitress Ros made us feel completely welcome with her warm and friendly service. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, and the food absolutely exceeded expectations. We tried the fish cakes and the signature burger — both were to die for! Everything was cooked to perfection and full of flavor. Can’t wait to come back again. Highly recommended!

We visited for the lunch, the food was good. Service from Shelley was attentive and professional.

We felt welcomed and well looked after from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. A very busy pub restaurant with a good energy. Kelly greeted us at our table and the service from her and her team was amazing! The food was great and we all enjoyed our choices, clean plates all round. The baked camenbert stater was lush. Kelly did advise about a wait time of 30-40 minutes as it was a busy bank holiday, we didn't wait this long, but really appreciated being told. Definitely value for money and I would advise booking for weekends and bank holidays. Location is lovely, right next to the canal, and they have a fab beer garden for those sunnier days. Definitely returning some time soon.

Beautiful place in the sun, just by the canal. Food is okay. Starters were brilliant, had scotch egg, padron peppers, creamy mushrooms which were absolutely amazing. However, for lunch we ordered two fish sandwiches with beligan chips. Sandwich lacked seasoning and salt, was plain as ever and belgian chips were a let down as well, sorry. Would go again though for another attempt x

We were a group of 9 for a birthday dinner. Lovely food and excellent service by Shelley, very welcoming and accommodating.

We have been many times and never had any problems and enjoyed it as a local pub. Went today to grab some food in the sun and quite possibly the worst service we’ve ever experienced. Every table outside full of empty glasses and plates, and we waited an hour and a half for food- so long that it was pitch black and we had to move to a table inside whilst staff cleaned tables around us. Very disappointed as were regular customers

Really disappointing experience. We arrived at 4 o’clock and the pub was not busy at all, inside or out. Ordered the beef brisket sandwich with chips and a burger and chips and two soft drinks which came to just under £40. Waited 30 mins before the food came out. The beef brisket sandwich was very dry, the toasted bread was just hard like it had been sat under a heater for ages and the chips looked very brown and were hard and luke warm, again like they had just been sat under a heater for ages. And all dried out! The whole thing was odd because even looking at the chips you could see they looked awlful!!! The burger was just average, again the chips were just dry, hard and warm. We ended up asking for fresh chips which were bought out as we finished the rest of our meal….. these chips looked completely different (and better) than the first lot, with such a visible difference I don’t understand why neither the kitchen staff or waiter had thought the original chips were acceptable?! Neither of the meals were value for money and neither of them tasted good. It’s such a shame because the tame otter is in such a lovely setting! We would not visit here again for food.

Ros, or server, was very friendly and welcoming. The Sunday dinner was really tasty - lamb and turkey.

Rude staff very arrogant..food was cold...spread out to make portion look decent...no blackcurrant mixer which is a must in a pub surely....red lion is the better option....never again

Poorest steak and ale pie ever had. Filling very light. Not billed for. Bill wrong billed for bottle wine did not have. Meal bill was wrong. Waiteress was very understanding.

Ros was fantastic. We had a few laffs. She is a lovely friendly person and we would come back again just to see her. Thanks Ros for everything from the six of us.

Had a duck pizza was lukewarm and certainly not worth £15.50. Overpriced average food. The toilets are in need of some TLC.

Although the waitress did a good job, it was incredibly busy and we waited almost 50 minutes for our mains. The food was fantastic though.

Wasn't particularly impressed. Waited 46 minutes for food and my pizza was only luke warm. Offered to change but didn't want to wait even longer. At least they gave us our drinks for free

Went for a lovely family meal for my birthday on the 31st March. All the staff were lovely and friendly but Shelley was exceptional. We had an issue with my meal-the hunters schnitzel came with bacon when I requested no bacon but she sorted this out with no bother 😊. Also as it was my birthday I asked if she could put a candle(that I supplied) on the brownie desert and shelley used one of their own candles and the guys in the kitchen did a lovely job with my brownie(see picture). Overall we had a lovely time and the food was delicious and we were very well looked after so thankyou. Also my daughter left her doggy soft toy and the pub phoned us to tell us- very much appreciated and so thoughtful, so thankyou 😊

Having waited over an hour ( order placed at 13.50 via the app) for a main course we asked when it would arrive. No apology just the response “I’ll go check” 5 minutes later our food arrived, again no apology for the wait in fact it was not acknowledged that we had complained. Not good. Today was not a good experience sadly. We have used other Vintage Inns without issue.

What a little gem of a place, and our server Shelley was the icing on the cake! You always expect good food from Vintage Inns, but Shelley's kindness and attentiveness despite being very busy, really made for a lovely lunch. Everyone should be more Shelley!!!

the worst Mother’s Day I have ever had. Booked a table for half 7, got seated at 8 o’clock and after an hour and a half we had only received our starters. Ended up having to walk out before the mains came out as there were still 4 more tickets before ours. Overbooked and unhelpful staff who didn’t know what time we would be sat, what food would be available or when our food would be coming out. Really upsetting .

This was our go to when visiting family in the area. On our last visit things weren't that great, we marked that down as a blip. This evening though it was absolutely dire. Our table was booked well in advance for 6pm on the Saturday evening. On arrival it was as if they were squeezing us in. We were shown our table, with no mention of long wait times, or missing menu items. As they weren't offering table service, we ordered through the app. Drinks arrived after about 10 minutes. Another 10 minutes and a waitress came over to ask if we were aware that the food wait time was 40 minutes minimum. As we'd ordered bites whilst we wait, then starters, then mains, we assumed that wouldn't be too bad. We'd already waited 20 minutes. In the end some pretty dreadful starters came out alongside the bites just over 40 minutes after ordering. By this point, we're hungry, so we eat. The scallop coquille was dry, one small scallop and one rubbery prawn. We then wait a further 30 minutes for some pretty dire mains. Missing ingredients, soggy salad, practically raw ciabbata. No one asked how our food was, and we were given no chance to complain, no one seemed to care. And then to add insult to injury, they seemed keen to clear our table, trying to remove plates we were still eating, as if they needed us out for the next seating. So disappointing, this was such a great pub. If you cant get it right early on a Saturday night , when can you. We absolutely won't be back.

Came today food was nice , was disappointed that my plate was chipped also small gravy pot was chipped, need cleaning on sills and toilets are dirty as well , thick dust back of doors

We went here for lunch today with our son We've been here before a couple of years ago and sat outside, we enjoyed it then that's why we went back while we were in the area. We were sat down at 1pm....I had to ask 25 mins later if someone was coming to take our drink order. We then waited 45 mins for our food... so 70mins of being there we waited for food. There were 2 chicken and bacon avocado salads with pesto ciabatta. Chicken was very,very dry. Ciabatta pesto was just spread over... not toasted. My husbands beef brisket sandwich was abysmal. It said on toasted bread....toasted one side(mo colour!),soggy on the other side. Bread resembled 2 slices of Nimble bread and 2 thin slices of beef... not presented well neither did it look appetising. Considering it's a pub the meals aren't cheap! We were expecting to have a lovely family lunch but unfortunately it certainly wasn't!! Will not be returning. Worst pub meal we've had in years!!

Food was good (aubergine bake and Sunday lunch), but we waited 50 minutes for it to arrive. I know Sunday lunchtime is a busy period, especially when the weather is good, but can't you make allowances for this? The staff are friendly, but I think they are probably used to this, because they didn't seem too concerned. Nice location, and good food, but I don't think I would visit again.

Always love coming to the Tame Otter when visiting friends in town, not just because the food is always excellent, but the sevice (with a special shout out to Ros in particular) is always warm, speedy, efficient and friendly. Everyone calls everyone else "luv", it's like eating in comfort at home. Top recommend!

The beers were great, and the food was good, but not as advertised: the 'crispy baby potatoes' with the sea bass were not crispy, and there were no peas. The Greens and Grains salad also had no pomegranate seeds. Nobody came to check on our food, but they were rather busy.

Just got back home after spending a few hours in the beer garden on a sunny Saturday afternoon. Drinks service was okay (not great but okay) .. food however was terrible. Took 45 minutes to arrive (2 x fish and chips) .. arrived petty much cold. Never ate the chips, gave the fish to the dog, turned the dish with the mushy peas upside down .. they didn't even move so gave them a miss too! .. just put some oven chips in the oven .. £36 wasted on food.. won't be eating there again which is a shame as we've been there a few times over the last few years and it's been okay.
