Inkwell in Lichfield

We had a great experience at Inkwell recently. We attended the launch of the best pub pie by Chef Tom Shepherd. It was a great night and the pie was incredible. The pub itself was cosy, warm and clean. Staff were incredibly attentive especially Millie who would ensure we had everything we needed. If you get a chance to try the pie (limited time only) I recommend you give it a go.

We had a lovely time thank you. We went for the Tom Shepherd Best Ever pie and it didn’t disappoint. Our server, Toni, was friendly and helpful and gave recommendations when asked and helped source my elderly mother a smaller meal via the children’s menu. We have only been here before years ago for my brothers birthday. My brother used the pub regularly. To be honest I don’t know why we haven’t used it more. Maybe we will now. Thanks to all. The food and service were great.

Fantastic service, the staff were very attentive, friendly and helpful. Great food, we were a large table for my mom's 80th birthday, everyone's food arrived at the same time and was thoroughly enjoyed

It's a great day out going for a look around the shops then in the Inkwell for a nice meal. Sally, Sophia and Ellie all are top hosts. We've been before and will return! Just to add we have been a lot since and it's awesome! We have returned and had a few more meals there. It's a great pub. Sophie was good with the service and a friendly chat. 👍

We had a large booking this evening (20 people) for a 50th birthday meal - the whole evening ran smoothly and the food was amazing! We had Millie serving us for the night and we could not fault her hospitality and organisation! Thank you so much!

Fantastic atmosphere and excellent service from arrival to leaving. Great selection of food and drinks. Food always comes out Fantastic and really is good value for money. Highly recommend for anyone to try, and you will be back again and again.

A lovely midweek meal with a nice, calm relaxing atmosphere. Laura gave us a friendly welcome and attentive service throughout the whole night. We will definitely be back!

Lovely pub great for families and couples. Food was delicious, presented well and really good price. The staff are very friendly helpful and polite. We will definitely go back. If I could add one thing it would be a little gate at the side of the pub so children can get to the playback or maybe a little playback in the beer garden which would be amazing.

Nice place and friendly staff but… I had the Thai Red Vegitable Curry and I must say, it was the worst curry I have ever had in my life. It was like flavoured water with a few pieces of sweet potato and pepper in it. It was terrible, I just couldn’t eat it.

Food was amazing and our server Rich was lovely!

My friend and I had lunch the other day, my friend had a starter as her main but the waiting staff hadn't realised so hers came out first however the manager realised what had happened and quickly got my meal out shortly after which was great. Eaten here many times and never had any complaints!

Very nice friendly pub, reasonable priced food and drinks, lovely staff, makes for a great time out. Chris helped us out with menu choices, as I am gluten free.

We went to the Inkwell today, for puddings and a tipple. Chris helped us out, with a regular menu and a gluten free one. Order 2 puddings, lovely. Well worth a visit if ever in Lichfield. Staff were great, even the gaffer.

Service by All staff and especially Millie were excellent. Food was lovely , we really enjoyed our evening . Thankyou we’ll be back .

Our local pub and eatery and always a lovely experience. Clean and tidy and very friendly staff. Caters for our dog which is also great. Highly recommended.

I went to the the Inkwell on Sunday 23rd and was served by the lovely Laura. She was the food was great and Laura was patient and helpful, even when the kids were a bit of a handful. Thank you.

Great meal tonight for my daughter in laws 21st birthday. Laura was especially great! I would absolutely recommend the steak, it was cooked to perfection.

Booked our table of 4 for 6.30 ,very good start with drinks ordered and delivered quickly. But then we ordered our food which must have taken about an hour to arrive. Our waitress ,Lilly, saved the day though! She was brilliant -very attentive and kept us informed about the delay. In the end we thoroughly enjoyed our evening. Thanks Lilly.

Breaking Had a lovely meal at the Inkwell, which was served promptly. Service was very good and the table we were sat at was just right as we had our baby Granddaughter with us and there was plenty of room for us all to sit down and for her to sit in a highchair. A very enjoyable meal!

We come to do the quiz each week and we always have a fun time! Staff are friendly, quiz host is very pleasant as well

Chloe was very helpful on the phone when I rang earlier in the day regarding our 2 tables. She sorted it all prior to our visit. Service was great when we arrived. Waitress was so helpful. Food great and no errors. We ordered our drinks at the bar & Service was also great and didn't have to wait. The ambience was lovely. A very enjoyable 3 hours. Thank you.

Lovely pub and restaurant on the outskirts of Lichfield city centre . Popular eatery especially at weekends and I would advise booking in advance then to avoid disappointment. Great atmosphere in the place and the service was very attentive. There was a varied menu that should suit all tastes which was well presented but a little light on portions for my taste - perhaps that is to encourage one to supplement the main with a starter or dessert.

14 of us were served so efficiently. All our meals were lovely & payment made easy

The venue and setting is lovely but we had an awful experience. To start with 2 starters didn't come out with the rest, then they came out after a member of our party had to go and find someone to question this, as nobody checked on the table, then the mains were incorrect and not how we ordered them. We ordered a roast with gravy on the side, this didn't happen so had to send the meal back, ordered the lamb rump and pie at nearly £22, in the menu states that it comes with rosemary and garlic roast potatoes and veg, the veg consisted of 3 mangetout and 3 carrot batons, the potatoes were fried potato squares so the meal was not what was advertised on the menu and completely overpriced for what we were presentsd with. We informed the server of this and the response was 'yeh I know' with no further action etc. When we finished our meals which were expensive considering they were substandard and not as advertised or requested, we were left with a cluttered table for a very long time, to which we then had to start clearing and tidying ourselves, nobody came to see if we wanted desserts etc and we were left. Then when we asked about the birthday cake that we asked to be brought out following the meal, this was eventually brought out when half of the table were missing as they were outside or in the toilet, and without any plates or a knife etc. It would have taken a second to check the party was complete at the table before bringing the cake out etc. This ruined what was meant to be a celebratory moment, which we will not get back. We went to the Inkwell to celebrate a family members birthday and this is the only reason we didn't further our complaints as we didn't want to upset the birthday 'girl' any further. The whole experience was a shambles and completely overpriced for the food and service we received. Would not recommend and will not return.

Great pub! Dog friendly, they even have water bowls and treats for the dogs. Staff are amazing too - Toni, Connor and Chloe!

We had a great experience at the restaurant, largely due to Laura's exceptional service. From the moment we arrived, she greeted us with warmth and professionalism, making us feel right at home. The food was fresh and tasty. While there was a brief wait for our meals because it was busy, it was completely understandable, and didn't affect the freshness of the food. One of the standout features of this restaurant is its dog-friendly policy. Our little dog was welcomed, with the staff providing a bowl of water for her. It's refreshing to see an establishment that caters to both two-legged and four-legged guests. Overall, this was a pleasant, good-value dining experience, and I look forward to returning again soon.

When we walked in we were greeted by a lovely member of staff. She showed us to our table. We didn't wait long before someone took out drinks order. As I'm the designated driver, I was after a 0.0% alcohol gin. She was very helpful with the choices. The menu was lovely, something for everyone. The ambiance of the rooms are lovely. The toilets were spotless. Lovely hand wash and the hand cream was a nice touch. All the staff were very pleasant and professional. We are already talking about what date we are coming back! 😁

Paid a visit to Inkwell Lichfield on Saturday for lunch- food was amazing and the service from the young girls was superb! Will be visiting again x

Staff are always incredibly friendly and helpful. Food has been very good quality and hot. Atmosphere in the pub and restaurant is very relaxed and enable and the amenities are always very clean and well serviced.

On a previous visit we were very impressed with food 5* service 5* and atmosphere, dog friendly welcome 5*. On todays visit sat 1st march 2025 food 3* service at table and from kitchen 1* we were welcomed, not like last time but atmospere was fine 2* However, as a party of 5 adults we were put in a corner of 3 tiny tables, we pulled them together but it wasnt great, didnt ask to be moved as i assumed it was a busy service. We ordered food and starters came out to the table one short, no cutlery, had to ask while starters are going cold, when the final starter arrived it should have been the same as onother one on the table but was presented shabbily and missing bacon and bread. This we had corrected at the time. We waited ages for the starter plates to be collected, i had to ask for the table to be cleared, and it was then i notice that the pub wasnt infact busy on the whole at that time. Mains came out promptly but with no cutlery yet again, when cutlery arrived in a box, there wasnt enough for the group so we had to ask for more. Fish and chips were amazing, the other 3 meals as expected and tasty, but one of us ordered the more expensive choice of lamb steak with mini pie, vegs and roasted potatoes with garlic and rosemary costing £21 +. This was very disapionting, the pototoes were not roasted, they were deep fryed chunks (looked like cubed chips-see photo) with no rosemary or garlic to be seen at all. Mini pie was good but the actual lamb was just a few chunks put ontop of the potatoes. Disapointing and very overpriced, potatoes were dry and not edible. Seems i cant add a picture which is a shame because they represent our visit experience perfectly. Deserts we ordered came fine and lovely, being picky i needed more custard for the crumble but wouldnt be a problem on its own, but with all the rest, i did feel skimped. Between these two visits, i dont know whats happened, but i wont be going a third time. Worst of all was the lack of interest we felt was shown by the kitchen and waiting staff to get things right. The girls were polite but either untrained or uninterested in how to perform thier role in customer service.

What a wonderful lunch we've had today, friends catch up! The Inkwell decor/atmosphere is lovely! Staff great and food just delicious! I'm sure we will be back!

Pub was very busy but young waitress staff who said they'd only recently started worked really hard to make sure we were happy - well done to them!!

Well, it was clear the waitress didn't like her job. She made us feel like an inconvenience for asking certain items to be left off. Then we waited 45 minutes for 2 ceaser salads, 2 sides of chips and a bangers and mash. It took 1 hour and 45 minutes to get served and eat a main and pudding.

Loved it, will come again our server sue was such a delight definitely recommend

Visited here 19.2.25 and there was no hawkstone available despite 2x pulls available and no glass or towel over the handles to show this wasn’t available

We stopped here mainly for the excellent EV charging points they have in the car park and had a good meal here while we waited. Food came quickly and was tasty and well presented in comfortable surroundings on a cold evening.

Care to detail (we requested one of two tables and were seated at one of them , thank you) Food was better than it had been at previous visit so all good there. Prices had increased but were still reasonable All staff very pleasant and friendly.

I have been here a number of times. Always greeted at the door shown to my table and drinks order taken. Food Order taken not a long wait for it to be presented at the table. Well cooked nicely presented.

Had a lovely meal with friends here last night. Food was perfect, especially the apple & cherry crumble which was delicious. Conor was very welcoming & friendly when we arrived. Rich made our night with his friendly chatter whilst serving us. Definitely recommend here, it’s such a lovely pub.

Not a good experience. Wasted time on this pub we should have visited somewhere where we knew. Very noisy unable to talk and they tried to tell us a sirloin steak was in fact a rib eye 😳

Great visit to our new local. Rich was so accommodating and knowledgeable. Menu was extensive without being overwhelming. Looking forward to seeing the new menu in the coming weeks.

It's ok, quite a standard British gastropub. I actually go here quite often to meet up with family so I'm always in a big group and they accommodate us well. Usually the food is pretty standard pub stuff, good quality and nice presentation. Unfortunately last time I went I had a steak which I ordered "medium rare" but it was very "well done" and tough as an old boot! I've also had a steak sandwich here a couple of times and the problem is the same, steak well done and like an old boot, not very pleasant. So I have deducted points for the steaks they serve here; I definitely don't recommend them. Frankly if you can't cook a steak, what are you doing in a kitchen? I can cook better steak than that at home lol I do quite like it here though and they allow me to bring my dog. It has quite a chill atmosphere. I would definitely rank them higher if the steak was any good!

Pre booked so table ready for us, menus and drinks offered. Orders taken fairly quickly but then a half hour wait for them to arrive. Delicious food. Had to attract waiter for plates to be removed and again for desserts. Another long wait. Enjoyed the meal and ambience of the pub but service needs to get sharper.

Great staff always willing to help and assist at anytime even when extremely busy just a good alround pub with reasonably priced food
