Good food and friendly staff in a civilised environment with no intrusive background music to stifle conversation. Sue attentive and efficient as always and service prompt.

We had a lovely meal at the Inkwell. The service was great thanks to the waitress Sue. She was lovely with my seven year old daughter. The food was really good quality and I was very greatful for the NHS discount.

Around twenty of us visited for a family Christmas meal. Staff were amazing, food was divine, and plentiful. Beautifully decorated for the season too. Will be going back.

Both my sister and I had a lovely meal celebrating her birthday. The staff particularly Laura was very attentive but she also gave us time to relax which was very much appreciated and was an absolute treasure. Our meal was lovely and the whole experience spot on! Thank you Laura your a star.

A warm welcome and a nice table to accommodate both our dog and my sister on her mobility scooter. Pleasant and professional waiting staff. Good value food and wine. This is now our go-to place.

Having not been here since 2018 it was lovely to revisit as I have fond memories being the last place I visited with my late mum. Although it is now known as the Inkwell, the feel around the place is still the same. Very cosy welcoming country feeling pub. We was greeted by a young lady very polite and welcoming who showed us to our table, menus given, drinks ordered and food to follow. The food was out of this world, the portion size looked on the small side for £15 but believe me it was ample. I even indulged in desert !! My daughter is celiac and her needs were also catered for her meal also tasted delicious. My grandaughter who can at times be fussy also cleared her plate and indulged in desert. She was able to roam the pub with confidence and felt at ease by all members of staff. The main host Sal was lovely polite and engaging. We have found a winner for all future eat outs and the bonus of the evening was having 30% off all mains. We had 4 drinks, 2 mains and 1 kids main and 3 deserts and it only came to £52 what an absolute steal. The quality of the food alone was worth the money and then you get the staff who were all friendly and welcoming. This is a must to visit!!

The food and the service are excellent. The staff are very friendly and helpful, especially when discussing my shellfish allergy and how some of the fryers are used for shellfish so that I could decide which meal to have without the worry of any allergens. Very expensive. Don't bother. Lots of good eateries nearby in Lichfield. Very disappointing for a Marstons restaurant.

My wife & I visited as a little Friday evening treat & we were very well looked after by Jude. Very attentive staff during a very busy period.

Service varied. Quick to order but slow to serve drinks in particular. Food was OK but my vegetables were cool. Couldn't be bothered to send back as rest of the group would have been eating without me! Wouldn't rush back.

Stopped off after a dog walk. Lovely drinks and atmosphere. It's great dogs are allowed in. There is plenty of seating indoors and also outside.

We can't speak highly enough of the fantastic experience the Inkwell team provided for us in Saturday. It was my Mom's birthday and your team made sure she had an amazing time. Sue was our waitress and she was exceptional - she was friendly, attentive and always made sure we had enough drinks and food. Lilly was lovely, made sure we had everything we needed. We were sat in the corner, in a separate space, which was nice for our birthday celebrations.

Our serving staff, Sue, was attentive, friendly and thoughtful (especially when it came to moving past some very noisy people standing right next to us as we were eating…thank you Sue!) The meals were delicious and arrived in good time. Very enjoyable experience, will go again and will recommend :)

I wouldn't normally do a Marstons. But I have to say this venue has been done beautifully. With open fire place. Dog friendly, and the food and service were fantastic 👌 and all very reasonably priced. Lots of parking. 2 x disabled bays

Booking a table at short notice online was very straightforward. Member of staff at reception and waitress were friendly and helpful. Service and and quality and quantity of food were both very good.

All round experience excellent food and service - our son is scared of dogs - Laura was really helpful with this - she showed us to a quiet comer to wait and then let us use the separate room/area at the back of the pub away from any dogs - really thoughtful and helpful - excellent service really appreciated - thank you Laura.

Me and my family came in at lunch today. I can be quite a pain and struggle to find food i can eat while im out as im garlic intolerant, Rich and Sal were nothing kind supportive and helpful and come up with a solution. Im very greatful, did not feel an inconvenience and the familys meals where all enjoyable. Am very greatful for an experience that elsewhere usually makes me feel a problem. Thank you again

Well tonight, myself & hubby dined at The Inkwell at Lichfield for the first time (table 27) & Wow 👌 From the moment we arrived to the minute we left was literally a very joyful experience. The food we ordered as follows: Olives & Houmous for starters X2 sirloin steaks, extra onion rings & peppercorn sauce.......absolutely cooked to perfection 👌 Lemon tart for pudding (to share) All of the above was delicious, huge credit to the chef 👨‍🍳 We were looked after by Sue & what a lovely lady she is too. So very attentive, polite, friendly & very lovely to talk & laugh with. Our experience was faultless & we look forward to dining with you again soon Thank you Team Inkwell, keep up the amazing work. Very good service, meal was average pud food but met our expectation, lovely touch with the free birthday drink. There was something missing from one of the meals but this was resolved quickly. And the staff were very helpful and attentive

Would definitely go here again. Nothing was too much trouble for anyone. We have some fussy kids, who wanted multiple changes to meals & this wasn’t a problem. The lady waiting on, Sue, was very helpful & friendly.

Great place for lunch on Sunday. I had a chicken and chorizo kebab with flatbread and fries. The fries were hot and the flatbread kebab was very tasty. Wifey had sweet potato fries, which were also good. I think most people go for the Sunday roast, which did look good. Service efficient and friendly. Good selection of beers. Plenty of room to sit even though it was busy. Has the maximum 5 rating for hygiene standards.

The food was good but unfortunately only lukewarm .

We stopped here after shopping at Waitrose after 2pm. The cafe at Waitrose closes at 2pm. We were asked if we had any allergies before being seated. I think all restaurants should do this. It may have been because they are dog friendly establishment. Dogs aren't my thing as long as they are in a separate section to where I am sitting. I think they do food all day, it was a Sunday, lots of people having late Sunday lunch or early dinner. I had a small snack from the starters menu of lamb koftas and sweet potato fries with cranberry juice. My husband had the chicken kebab with a Punk IPA beer. We didn't have a reservation, we were seated and our order was taken not long after we were seated The food didn't take long to come either. Our first time eating here. The food was nicely presented and hot. It tasted nice, will more than likely go back instead of going to Waitrose cafe. They have a small car park, we found a space as we drove in.

We often visit the Inkwell and are always pleased with the food, drinks and service. All staff are always really lovely however on our visit this Sunday our server Phoebe overheard us talking at the table with our 12 year old son who is having some difficulty with children at school. She kindly spoke to our son about her own experience of school children and took her time to not only be really kind to him and make him feel better but give him some good solid advice. She really did go above and beyond and was just so kind. Thank you so much Phoebe, you really made a difference.

Steak was so chewy it was inedible staff were lovely friendly environment bit pricey for a pint @£6,77 was hoping the food was going to make up for this but it didn't

Nice pub which is dog friendly. The service is fantastic, it's a really welcoming atmosphere and well staffed. It feels like a family run place. The issue is the food quality is quite low it , not very tasty, quite bland. Also a member of my party is vegan and there was one option a burger, which was not very edible.

From start to finish, absolutely fantastic. We were there to celebrate our daughter’s 16th birthday with family. Greeted so warmly and told not to worry about the rest of our party running late (stuck on a38). A birthday card with a free desert was waiting on the table which was a lovely touch. Our waitress we had to begin with was so friendly and really lovely. Meals were fab - no complaints. Overall great visit and would come back for sure!

First time since the refit, had lovely night, clean, the staff pleasant and attentive, had run out of a couple of options, and Guinness! but didn't spoil the night, nice chain pub food. Will be back. Update. Back again, and still good Guinness problem has never arisen again, must remember to try the "Erdington" lager.

Excellent service & food, always find the staff very helpful, I had food off the lunchtime menu this time 2 courses, really good value. It wasn’t our 1st visit and won’t be the last.

It's a great day out going for a look around the shops then in the Inkwell for a nice meal. Sally, Sophia and Ellie all are top hosts. We've been before and will return! Just to add we have been a lot since and it's awesome! 😎

27/09/2024 Just back from a family meal at the Inkwell, I would highly recommend this lovely pub and the team - particularly Millie who looked after us all. Previous visit... Had a great evening, the food is as you’d expect from a chain but our service from Sophia was great and they also allow diners to bring dogs - there was even a treat for our pup!

The food and drinks were very good and it was a pleasant atmosphere, I will certainly eat and drink at the inkwell again

On arrival we were taken to our table quickly. Drinks were ordered within 15mins but waited nearly an hr for food. Food was very tasty when it arrived. Staff were friendly but it was very busy hence the wait I think. Worth a visit but maybe avoid busy times.

Always great service from bar staff and waiters, our dogs love it in there and the free treats are a nice bonus. Nice drinks and the food was ok too plus we enjoyed the quiz.

It was a pleasant evening meal, our waitress Millie was friendly and attentive, and our meals were delicious.
