Whenever I'm working in Fowey, I make a point to visit Quay Bakery and stock up with their baguettes, sourdough, Gouda pasties and treacle tart. This month I discovered their Eccles cakes - the best I've ever had. Everything's good, a lot of it's sublime, the staff are lovely* and the prices are fair. Faultless. *The other day I didn't have time to wait while they cut the new treacle tart, so on their suggestion I paid while I was there and went back after work when they were shut; but they came to the door with tart bagged, and a smile. Brilliant service.

Gorgeous ice cream and lovely staff. Not over priced either for a busy tourists destination. Would recommend the sticky toffee flavour

From the moment we walked into Sams, we were greeted with the friendliest & warmest of welcomes. Both front and back of house staff were as helpful as could be and nothing was too much trouble. The food was absolutely amazing with ample sized portions. One of, if not the, best eating out experiences we have ever had and would recommend to anyone!

Sunday lunch had a lovely menu. Carrots & parsnips described as roasted & these were both definitely boiled. Veg was nice however cauliflower cheese was more a cauliflower in white sauce. We didn’t feel at all rushed however service was slow & no salt & pepper on table or condiments offered as our lunch was delivered. We had to ask. Meat was lovely but don’t feel this was great value for money

We decided to eat in here on a Sunday evening. We walked in to find a couple of very small (3 year old if that) children in the bar area chucking pool balls on the floor! We ordered drinks which we had to pay for straight away, we couldn't have a 'tab'. We chose a table as far away from the children as possible, then went to order food, having to pay again. Throughout the meal one of the children kept running up to the doors that lead out to the back terrace, by the river, and trying to open it (child was very small with a dummy in its mouth). No sign of parents! The couple on the next table were a little concerned and told it to 'go and find its mummy'. Good job child didn't open the door as it would have been on the river side! There is a sign on the bar saying 'No children at the bar' and yet these very small ones were allowed to run up and down and mess around at the bar! It's not a Wacky Warehouse! The food was ok, husband had pizza which was good. I had scampi. It was fine but frozen and chucked in the fryer. No garnish or anything, you get what it says (scampi, chips & peas, salad is an extra charge). You do realise that taking payment like this is drastically reducing any tips? Nobody is going to tip 'up front' on ordering their food. Maybe a lot of people walk out without paying? We don't carry cash. We had another drink so we had to tap the card machine on 3 separate occasions. It was ok, would certainly not be my first choice and the children in the bar area certainly put me off. They were still there when we left, starting to cry as obviously they're getting tired!

This is traditional fudge - crumbly with a good selection of flavours and we stood watching while chocolate orange fudge was being made which was nice to see….. it’s not the cheapest but you get what you pay for…. Traditional which comes at a cost and made on the premises.

Terrible, as a local been eating and drinking here for many years. The Ship Inn sits above Kittows (great butchers and remains so). Thought we’d eat there as it’s been a while, thought we’d treat ourselves as the price is certainly not cheap!! The staff there claim the sausages I was served were kittows. I doubt it, they were awful. My guess is some kind of frozen cheap sausage from up country.
