As first time visitors to beautiful Golant we were recommended to visit the Fisherman’s Arms as friends had been there previously and had said the Sunday lunch was excellent. The atmosphere is so warm and welcoming as soon as we went in we felt at home. We had the evening meal on the Saturday - the fish pie was scrumptious!!! We returned on the Sunday for the Christmas lunch. It was exceptional!! The best Sunday lunch we have had anywhere. We went back on the Sunday evening for the jam session where local musicians get together and play. Rupert who is part of the team was one of the musicians playing that night and he is a very talented singer songwriter so it was a treat for us to share that evening listening to wonderful music in such a lovely cosy atmosphere. Thank you to Nick and his parents and all the team for great food, fabulous music and such a warm wonderful Cornish welcome. This place is really special and we can’t wait to come back.

We stayed in Golant for 2 nights and enjoyed our fish and chips so much on the Friday that we returned on the Saturday too, when we had the pie and the sausages. With a bottle of wine each night it was truly delicious. But it wasn’t just the food that made us return. We felt so welcomed by landlord Nick and his friendly team. They have created such a relaxing and cosy atmosphere, and seemed genuinely pleased to see everyone who came through the door. If we were lucky enough to live nearby we would find it very hard to stay away! Thank you all so much.

Every now and then you step into a pub and can just feel there is special going on. I know this sounds hippy-ish but honestly the family run atmosphere here combined great, honest food, warmth of the staff, ambience and great tunes made for an all round excellent experience. This pub was highly recommended by people on Facebook and it didn't disappoint. We went there on Wednesday. The place was buzzing, great atmosphere, welcomed by the landlord, ordered our drinks then sat at our table. The barmaid who was losing her voice, carried on like a trouper and was a real credit to the pub. Ordering was easy and we didn't wait long for our starters which were delicious, arancini and mushroom with goats cheese. The mains followed homemade pie and chips (steak and kidney) and hake and chickpea stew. All absolutely delicious. The locals were v welcoming too. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.

Stayed in Golant for 5 nights with family and visited this gem of a pub most days which has a great mix of locals and tourists. You are assured of a lovely friendly welcome from the multi-talented landlord Nick (mine host, chef and occasional singer), and the rest of his team, including his mum and dad. Lovely views, excellent reasonably priced food and great real ale. On our first visit they were fully booked but they went above and beyond and helped us organise a takeaway to be delivered to the pub to take home. We really enjoyed the music jam night on the Sunday, with the local musicians fully involving our grandchildren (and us adults🤣). Booking strongly advised, you won’t be disappointed 👍

The food was absolutely outstanding and so tasty and fresh, portions were well sized, Nick the chef, did a great job on the food taste and presentation, if I was staying longer, I certainly would be going back for a second and the third meal… I cannot recommend highly enough this place. Please note there is very limited Wi-Fi, so it certainly makes you have more conversations as well as having a view of the river, than being stuck on the phone. The decor was homely and ambiance calming and relaxed. Thank you for the wonderful meal and friendly service thanks to mum and i assume dad… 🙏🏼 and chef…

With a view of the river Fowey and the railway drinking and even eating as well is a more than enjoyable experience. Staff are kind, helpful, friendly and make you feel part of the community that seems to revolve around their beautiful pub. Food is some of the best traditional pub food I’ve seen in a long time. Fridays have a fish and chips special, which I can highly recommend, you can feel the heart and care in the food. Additionally the cheese board has a very generous portion size that I think you would struggle to find anywhere across our island nation. The Landlord (Nick), his family and staff are a great well oiled machine that gives anyone an experience never to be forgotten, one that is reserve a table for. A pub unlike any other…

We're a family group of 11 and 'Ted the terrier' staying on holiday in Fowey and after reading the great reviews we decided to book for dinner on Sunday. The pub is very cosy with a warm atmosphere. This is an authentic pub not a chain pub if you know what I mean which personally I much prefer. Somehow they managed to set all 11 of us up on one table which was a bonus we did not expect! We were welcomed by very friendly owners / staff who attended to our needs well throughout the evening. All 11 meals were served at the same time, the food was both hot and delicious with all plates being completely emptied. I had the mixed roast which was amazing, I especially enjoyed the incredibly 'cheesy' cauliflower cheese and the homemade yorkshire pud. Whilst we were having desserts a group of local musicians arrived and started singing and playing their guitars which only added to the great atmosphere. All in all we had a lovely evening and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend 👍

We spent three nights in Golant, an idyllic Cornish village, right on the estuary, we ate there every day and we were never disappointed. The fish on Friday was fresh, chips delicious and homemade tartar sauce with mushy peas for £12, outstanding, the beer and choices of gin good too. The second evening it was deep fried squid followed by pies that were full and rich and no soggy bottom! Sunday lunch was the highlight though: rump of lamb, perfectly pink for my wife and a trio of meats for me, each cooked as I would want them with crispy potatoes, generous veg and roats potatoes, the ginger pudding almost finished us off! You can tell the chef cares and cooks to impress. So the food and drink were great but it is actually the atmosphere, the locals (who know they have a good thing and support it) and the quick and friendly service overseen by Nick and his parents who are stars. It is really lovely here, almost like being on the set of a film, hospitable, welcoming and warm in every sense. Highly recommended. Thank you Nick and staff.

I've been to the Fountain a couple of times over the years when I've been down in Cornwall on holiday. It really is a lovely quintessential fishing village pub with low beams (beware!) and a decent selection of St Austell Ales. We ate for the first on our last visit, and although the prices are not cheap (not expensive either but about the same as I'd pay back in Surrey), the portions are enormous! Between us we had homemade lasagne (x2), a burger, and I had Fowey mussels and chips. Everyone was very happy with their meals. The landlady was very cheerful, helpful and relaxed, especially considering how busy it was when we there. I look forward to another pint of Mena Dhu next time I'm down 😊

I ordered fish; chips & peas last night. It was excellent! The fish was Snow White & chunky , crispy chips & plentiful mushy peas. Heamoor residents & visitors are so fortunate to have this on their doorstep.
