What a lovely friendly pub. The staff were very helpful and couldn’t do enough for us. We ate there most nights of our stay. The pizzas are amazing and the Sunday lunch is out of this world. There was a singsong on the Sunday night, and we were made to feel very welcome. Thank you very much to all the staff for your attention, it made our holiday memorable.

We had one of the best Sunday lunches that we have had in a while, followed by four great evening meals while we stayed in Gollant, tasty and good value with friendly staff in a pretty village, which is lucky to have such a lovely pub with such good meals, 5 stars. Only negative were the very yappy small dogs in the evening service. Please, if your dogs are yappy or misbahaved leave them at home and don't spoil everyone's meals with your growly, yappy needy dogs.

Quaint, friendly local pub with the classics you'd expect. Expansive menu and lots of specials and the likes of a Wednesday curry night and pizzas in the evening as well as the menus you can find online. Chicken balti curry, chicken and pancetta pie (great pastry!), scampi & chips and crispy chicken wings and cheesy chips all thoroughly enjoyed. Vegan treacle tart and Christmas pudding with brandy custard also super tasty. Outside area with the river view looks lovely and is big for the warmer months. Super convenient if you book a holiday rental in Golant and recommend a visit if you are staying nearby in Fowey etc. Woodland walk available up behind the houses too. Dogs allowed in the bar area to the left.

Great little, proper old pub. The service was great and we were made to feel very welcome. The food was really good. It was a wet and windy Thursday evening so quite quiet but those who were there had a great time. It's in a lovely spot on the River Fowey (Foy for non-locals) so when it's daytime, it's got quite a view also. Thank you.

We spent three nights in Golant, an idyllic Cornish village, right on the estuary, we ate there every day and we were never disappointed. The fish on Friday was fresh, chips delicious and homemade tartar sauce with mushy peas for £12, outstanding, the beer and choices of gin good too. The second evening it was deep fried squid followed by pies that were full and rich and no soggy bottom! Sunday lunch was the highlight though: rump of lamb, perfectly pink for my wife and a trio of meats for me, each cooked as I would want them with crispy potatoes, generous veg and roats potatoes, the ginger pudding almost finished us off! You can tell the chef cares and cooks to impress. So the food and drink were great but it is actually the atmosphere, the locals (who know they have a good thing and support it) and the quick and friendly service overseen by Nick and his parents who are stars. It is really lovely here, almost like being on the set of a film, hospitable, welcoming and warm in every sense. Highly recommended. Thank you Nick and staff.

I can highly recommend The Fisherman’s Arms in Golant. The food is great and very good value for money. The staff could not be friendlier and do their utmost to make sure that you have everything that you need. I would definitely advise to book a table in advance as whilst it is the only pub in this small village it gets extremely busy which is a testament to how good it is.

We went to the Fisherman's Arms on Sunday 8th and then again on Thursday 12th of October with our 3 dogs. The first time we visited the atmosphere was amazing. The food was incredible. The nut roast was made to perfection. My wife had the pork and said it was very well cooked. Our puddings were very good. I had the brownie which was lovely and gooey in the middle. It was the perfect size. My wife had the waffle which was very good. The second time we visited was for our last night in Cornwall. I had pizza with cheesy garlic ciabatta which was very good. And my fine had the ham egg and chips. We had pudding which consisted of waffle again and I had the vegan chocolate tart which was the right level of chocolatyness. In both visits the staff were very friendly and intentive. They enjoyed giving the dogs treats and made us feel welcome. I would definitely visit again when we come back to Cornwall in the future.

Drove out parked by. the lagoon from the river, warm day with sunshine so sat outside at a table over looking the lagoon, ordered the fish and chips and the lemon sole with stuffed mushroom and the prawns for starters. Very well presented, and the taste was wonderful on all of the dishes all washed down with a local ale. We will definitely be going again and again, lovely a quiet, a bit off the beaten track down a road that goes no where else.

Not many places seem to open on a Sunday evening but the Fisherman's sure did. We received a great welcome from the landlord and his staff. The beer and wine were good and we had a hearty meal, the Steak and Ale pie was a hit. Nice to be in a traditional pub. As others have said, beware the high tide times. When it is in, it completely covers Water Lane at the front of the pub. One car had to be rescued. There is parking on the side at the pub but it is limited, I believe there is a larger car park at the end of Water Lane that does not flood.

As the saying goes, you never get a second chance to make a first impression. We rented a cottage in Golant ( first time ) and had plans to eat in The Fisherman’s Arms both nights. After a long hot walk on the first day we called in for a drink. The man behind the bar ( wearing jeans, braces and a baseball cap) served me. There was no interaction whatsoever and he just poured the drinks. I wasn’t expecting an in depth conversation, but something might have been nice. I asked to see a menu for that evening which prompted ‘have you booked ?’ I hadn’t,but thought a Tuesday early evening there was a chance 2 of us could squeeze in somewhere. Bearing in mind the pub advertises the kitchen closes at 8.30 pm he had to ask Chef if he would do 2 meals at 8.00pm……a swift answer No was the response. So that was the end of our interaction. We sat outside, finished our drinks feeling pretty fed up about the attitude and complete disregard for customer care……seems previous reviews about the management of this pub were correct. Instead we went to the nearby farm shop bought some quality ingredients and cooked for ourselves. As for any future business in this establishment…..no chance.

We arrived as a group of 6 for a 1230 lunch and had taken a hire boat up from Fowey as the tide was favourable. We were shown our table and ordered drinks without issue. After ordering a range of starters and mains, the starters arrived in a timely manner. The food was decent but nothing special. I ordered another round of drinks at the bar and it was noticeable how slow the service had become. Another table had arrived late and they were dealt with rather curtly (more of that later) which led to the staff explaining service would be difficult as they were busy. The restaurant was not full so I was surprised to hear this. At 1430 our mains had still not arrived (we were prompt with our arrival and ordering) and on enquiring, I received a brief apology and a statement that our meals were next on the pass. At 1445 I had to telephone our hire boat contact to explain we would be late arriving back and I became concerned that our mooring would be left high on the outgoing tide. Other tables around us were also waiting on their orders and were treated to a rather half-hearted apology. The late arriving table finally received their order which they must have placed at least 45 minutes after we ordered. I had to go and move my boat which had been left semi beached and it was on my return that our order had finally arrived, circa 1500. Frankly, whatever arrived was spoilt by the unfeasibly long delay but, being objective, it was decent. We had to consume our food, get the bill and leave before the tide left us completely cut off. On receiving the bill I was given an apology but no explanation as to why it would take 2 and a half hours to deliver 6 main course meals. Throughout the whole experience I felt like our custom wasn't valued, that the staff were dis-organised (in the case of one of the male staff, very surly to all customers) and that no-one was taking control of running service. I might have been unlucky but this level of service is unacceptable on any occasion and there can be no excuse when tables arrive after you, are then served and leave before even receiving your food. Staff thinking a simple "sorry about that" will suffice when you spend £300 is not acceptable so I decided against laving any tip. If other guests are getting the same experience then you know something is wrong. Sorry Fisherman's Arms but you're beautiful views and ok food don't make up for the very poor wait time and service.

Just had lunch at the Fishermans Alms which was excellent. We did the 3 mile walk from Fowey to Golant along the Saints Way. You can drive from Fowey in about 10 minutes and then there is free parking. The Pub is dog friendly and has a lot of seating outside. What a lovely little pub!!! Myself, my husband & 3 SEN children are on holiday in Cornwall. We found this pub when we were looking for somewhere to eat. We were made to feel very welcome as soon as we entered. A lovely table outside overlooking the boats was where we were sat. Food choices were great! Kids actually found something they each liked. The chef sent out the children’s food first which we thought was such a lovely gesture. We could not fault the quality of the food, my husband even said it was the best burger he had eaten! My son adored the ladies behind the bar which is massive since he doesn’t like new people normally. We left a well deserved tip for the chef & thanked everyone. The kids even hugged the lady I assume is the landlady. 100% recommend here!!!!!
