The Three Pilchards in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

Excellent evening meal. We were looked after by Kate. Nothing was too much trouble. Changes to the meal, i.e. potatoes instead of chips and beans instead of peas and done successfully and without any fuss or bother. Great service, thank you Kate.

Birthday meal in the Pilchards. Fantastic fish and chips in a beautiful setting. Waitress Karen and barman Matt were good fun and very efficient.

The pub is your traditional beamed ceiling open fire British pub. Firstly it has a great gluten free menu. The gluten free fish and chips are the best I have seen. We had fish and chips and a fish pie. Highly recommend both. Fish was fresh and the best I have had in Cornwall. The fish pie I would highly recommend. Filled with fish and prawns absolutely lovely. Popped in last minute and luckily got a table as it was really busy.(but that’s good, right!). Great ambience and amazing service with a smile from Fiona. Good fun night.

A regular haunt of ours when we visit Polperro, it never disappoints. Thank you Matt and the team for great food, drink and service as always. They always open when they say they do, never slack or choose to close early like others do!!!!

Having dinner in a 500 year-old pub was just fantastic. The inside has an incredible atmosphere. I expected Ross Poldark to walk in at any minute. The Barman Matt was incredibly knowledgable about the pub, the village and Cornish beer. Pre-dinner drinks were fantastic. Polly looked after of food order. We had to have fish and it was awesome. This is definitely on our list of places to visit next time we are in Cornwall.

Ate here on a Monday afternoon back in May last year with a friend and our young children having walked the coast path from Looe. We had fish pies, large fish and chips (which wasn't massive, but was a reasonably big portion) and a kid's cheeseburger. We sat outside on the roof terrace. It was all good, but nothing amazing. The service was friendly. There were good views, but it was steep narrow steps with low headroom to get up and down.

I simply cannot thank this place enough, we turned up sodden wet and muddy with a wet dog, due to the walk from Looe! Upon arrival we decided not to go in because of the state we were in and the lovely carpet, however a member of staff come out and said there was room for us! The service, food and hospitality was absolutely excellent, it was definitely a port in our storm! The log fire was burning away and we were so grateful to find such a welcoming place, The porn star martini was the best one I’ve ever had thanks to Matt, ) too be fair I’ve had a few :) and well the food…….cannot recommend this place enough. We stayed in Polperro for 3 nights, intending to try a different eating place each night, but the Three Pilchards was so good we actually went there all 3 nights. Really good menu, covering seafood (as you would expect in Polperro), traditional pub grub, excellent burgers and more. If you just want a light bite there’s also a tapas type sharing menu. Friendly staff and good atmosphere. What more could you want. Very dog friendly.

It's not my first time at this fantastic pub but it's the atmosphere, the amazing food and the staff that make you feel welcome and want to keep coming back. I came on Mother's Day and was busy, so I had a drink at the bar and didn't have to wait long for my table. Mat and Karen were an absolute joy, kind and welcoming. A true credit to the pub. Wherever we stay in Cornwall we take a trip to Polperro. The Three Pilchards has been our favourite watering hole for the last 16 years and in that time yes it may have changed hands but we have never had a bad meal. We have always managed to get a table, the staff are so friendly and accommodating. We thoroughly enjoyed Sunday lunch yesterday it was delicious. We aren’t back in Cornwall until August but will be back and hopefully will sit on the sun deck next time.

Sunday lunch at The Three Pilchards was amazing!! Get there at opening time as the tables were all taken on a first come basis. Matt took our phone no and called 30/40mins to let us know there was a table available. Excellent staff & service. Certainly would recommend this quirky, friendly pub in Polperro. This place was absolutely amazing. The food was gorgeous ( Sunday roast and the cobbler) with very generous portions sizes and seasonal veg. The pub itself is very small and if it's busy you can add your name to a list for dining and they call you when they can fit you in. The staff are very competent and we're very friendly.

We have eaten here every day for 4 days and the food and service has been excellent. It’s super dog friendly. The staff team are really helpful, attentive, just kind and make you feel like you should be there. We had a super Sunday lunch to finish off our break looked after by Karen, Matt and Sen but the team in the week were also exceptional. It felt like we left our local and found another. Thank you. We didn’t feel like a tourist. There’s a bit of magic in that.
