The food is good albeit expensive for what it is. I made a complaint that the selection of bread was not a selection but just toasted bread! No real response from staff! Just something for management to consider, on warm nights when the bifold windows are open the smell of the smokers outside comes into the bar where we were eating… we found this really off putting!!! I can recommend the honey chipolatas on the starter menu which were delicious. The restaurant accepts dogs in the bar but they are not allowed in the main restaurant upstairs. Overall I would recommend but please reconsider smokers on the terrace!

We visit the area every year trying nice eatery venues but unfortunately this place well and truly under delivered. It all started when the food came to our table, then after some time waiting for the remainder of our meals to arrive they were taken away from us. Informing another table had ordered 'exactly' the same as us, hmmmm - there was five us, one child - exactly the same? Small apology made, then after a considerable amount of time our food came to us, which we all thought had been sat under the hot plate as it didn't seem freshly cooked. We informed the waitress about this asking to pass the message onto the duty manager and more so the expensive craw fish which was incredibly chewy. No sign of them at all as we were upstairs and suppose out of the way to make any further comment. When coming to pay, we mentioned it again at the bar and nothing was said, not even an apology but happily took the money before we headed out. Such a shame we were treated in this manner as the place is nice inside with lovely views. The staff need to care more about their customers!

I loved it here! I don’t usually like pubs, I find them quite intimidating to be honest but this one was so nice. Everyone was friendly but not in an over the top way and the food was delicious. I had the halloumi burger which i’ve never tried before as I thought it would be too cheesy, but it was actually amazing. I wish I had found this pub sooner on our Cornwall trip as I definitely would have returned! Parking in the nearby car park was a pain as there wasn’t any spaces but we were able to park okay outside the pub.

Not the most inspiring building for this great position on the harbour but you come here for the food. This is beautifully cooked fresh by a chef who is clearly top of his job. The wide basic menu is supplemented by a menu of about six very special dishes. I doubt if there anywhere else as good for lunch as two other local recommended venues only start at 5.30pm. Quiet atmosphere, half way between a restaurant and a cafe, not a pub in spite of its name. We'll worth a visit.

When I think of the Fishermans Arms and the great food I had here, I felt the need to do this review with the inspiration of some old school rap: To da one on da flame My cod weren't tough. They just toss that fish in the fryin' pan. Like blam was done when I came in as planned. Damn, I ordered some pints for the Fam. Don't make me neck it hectic. Automatic got me goin' like Gen'ral Electric. Damn the harbour lights were blinking. I'm thinking It's was all over when I go out fishing. Oh Makin' my mind slow, That's why It's cheap with the bill being four-oh. Bro I got ta' maintain 'Cause the fisherman's arms is Hella insane... Well you get the idea. Good portions. From the moment we stepped into the restaurant, the experience was nothing short of remarkable. The service was exemplary – attentive, yet unobtrusive, and every staff member seemed genuinely dedicated to ensuring our meal was enjoyable. The atmosphere struck a perfect balance between elegance and comfort. The tasteful decor and ambient lighting created an inviting environment that enhanced our dining experience. As for the food, it was a culinary delight. The 6oz burger was cooked to perfection, juicy and flavorful, with every bite leaving us wanting more. But the real star of the evening was the Cajun hake accompanied by soft stem broccoli. The hake was seasoned masterfully, with the Cajun spices complementing the fish's natural flavors without overpowering them. The broccoli was a fresh, vibrant side that completed the dish beautifully. The vine selection wasn't impressive, but where selection is lacking it usually compensates in quality and the sweet Zinfandel we chose was exquisite. It paired wonderfully with our meals, adding an extra layer of enjoyment to our dining experience. In summary, this restaurant exceeded all our expectations in terms of service, atmosphere, and food quality. It's a gem that we'll be returning to and recommending to friends and family. A well-deserved five-star rating!

(Btw - I don’t give bad reviews - and I don’t give average reviews, I only give one if I think somewhere is excellent 👍🏻). I’m quite fussy when I have mussels and my bowl of them here was delicious - I had the starter portion and it was huge! The mussels were perfectly cooked and still plump. To me, the sign of a good restaurant is whether I want to come back - and I definitely do. Our waitress has been so attentive and accommodating - and there is.no pressure to leave - why would you want to when you’re looking out on St Michael’s Mount and the harbour in Newlyn?

Fantastic food, service and atmosphere!! Perfect date night location! The staff were accomodating and accepted our last minute reservation. Plenty of seating options, both indoor, outdoor and on both levels. The burger was well worth every penny, the succulent meat and decent portion of fries. We got 3 sides to share, and the chorizo one was the highlight. The grilled peach halloumi salad was a tad on the oily side, but you can taste the earthy notes of the olive oil (great if you have a bread to share). The camembert was amazing, but probably too rich just for 2 people. Decent selection of brew and cocktails. We were well impressed with the interior deco and lights, very cosy. The second storey overlooked the Newlyn habour and it was just stunning to be overlooking the Penzance nightscape.

Came here for my mums birthday lunch, expecting nice things due to the reputation and the price. My mum and her partner had the lamb leg which was too fatty and the top slice seemed quite dry. My partner had sausage and mash which wasn’t a generous portion at all as it didn’t fill him up. I wanted to order the lobster sliders however they didn’t have any so I ordered tiger prawns with chorizo and salad as a starter with a side of Parmesan truffle chips to make up a main. The tiger prawns were £9.50 and I had 3 prawns, a few leaves and tiny bits of chorizo the prawns tasted regular nothing special. The chips barley had Parmesan on which I had to ask for more. I would also suggest to put the truffle sauce on the side in a pot which most restaurants do as I could barely taste the truffle sauce. It was as if I paid £7 for a bowl of regular chips. For a birthday lunch that me and my partner travelled all the way down from Plymouth just for my mum to be disappointed was such a shame. Nothing worse then having a birthday ruined with an overpriced lunch not worth it. We would’ve have ordered a dessert as we were all still hungry but didn’t want to waste another £40 on further disappointment. I never complain and I hate writing bad reviews. Shame.
