We had lunch today and it was very good indeed. The service was quick and the food was excellent but what impressed me was unlike a great many restaurants today they served hot food on very hot plates. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting good food at sensible prices.

We popped down from the north coast of Cornwall to Fowey etc for a couple of days and an overnight stay at The Galleon. The rooms were clean, bright and of a decent size with a glimpse of the river. The bed was very comfortable with nice clean white bedding. Plenty of hot water on tap and a TV. We were unable to eat in the restaurant/bar on the Monday night at The Galleon Inn as they had some staffing issues. We had a lovely breakfast the following morning where Sarah, a very friendly, efficient waitress offered a table anywhere we liked to choose, inside the courtyard, seating with a view in the bar or the dining room. My husband chose a full English which he said was tasty and the egg just to his liking. We had cereals, fruit, yoghurt, toast and jam/marmalade. Tea, coffee and juice. All in all very satisfying.

We’ve visited the galleon inn for many years when we have been in Cornwall it’s such a great spot on the riverside sat out watching the world go by. Always have enjoyed great food which has been freshly prepared and with good portions and prices have been average with other similar places in Fowey It’s a great place to sit and have a pint and watch the world go by there are a good range of drinks and good options for kids as well and the beer garden is very dog friendly We have always found the staff pleasant and this year the waitress made a fuss of our 9 and 5 year old I would recommend the galleon based on our long standing experience!

How unhelpful can a member of staff actually be! After rolling my ankle, the nearest place I could get was unfortunately this pub with alot of help from my husband and boys as I was unable to walk. After buying drinks (as I could not move) my husband HAD to get the car as I was completely immobile. With the help of my son and a kind man that lent me his walking crutch we made it to the end of the covered walkway to meet my husband with the car. My son did walk back to the pub and ask a Large blonde lady for chair as I could no longer put any pressure on my foot, to which she replied to him no, you can't take chairs out of the pub she will have to walk back to sit down! After a visit to Bodmin hospital I have actually fractured my foot. So thank you for your help lady! I wouldn't drink here if I were dying of thirst!!!! Maybe train your staff with some customer service skills!

Oftentimes these waterfront pubs are a disappointment but not this one. Despite the rain we sat looking out on the estuary and enjoyed a couple of excellent pints and a surprisingly good seafood platter that REALLY hit the spot! Great value and great service. Even charged my iPhone for me :)

My wife and I have just returned from Fowey having spent 2 nights at the Galleon Inn Fri 9th and Sat 10th Aug. Although we really had a great time in Fowey our stay at the Galleon was disappointing due to the sheer lack of Hospitality from some of the staff. On arrival our greeting from the lady behind the bar was far from satisfactory, there was no proper greeting, no pleasant chat about our journey down where have you come from etc etc and no real communication from her at all, we both felt very unwelcome and sadly this was the trend throughout out stay. We were given our keys to the room and shown upstairs by this lady it would have been nice if she helped with one of our bags as it was quite a struggle to carry everything up to our room but there was no offer of help. The room was lovely however separate bedroom, bathroom small kitchen and lounge area and a wonderful view across the river, we were very happy with our room. Breakfast the following day was disappointing you only have a one hour slot 8.30 to 9.30 never stayed anywhere with such a restricted time slot. The food was average we expected some fresh fruit not just bananas satsumas and apples. The full English was ok. Asking for more tea seemed a bit of a challenge from the staff member too. The following breakfast was much the same we came down at 9.15am, by the time we had our main course the staff had removed the toast machine, bread etc and everything else, we were not even asked if we wanted any thing else more coffee etc the staff were no where to be seen. When we were ready to leave for home we passed the keys over to a lady in the bar, again lack of any hospitality no thanks for staying, no hope to see you again just nothing. I will say that the cleaning ladies were much nicer and were very chatty and happy to talk and thanked us for staying which was all you can ask for. The lack of hospitality let this hotel down, and because of this we refused to spend any time in the Galleon over the weekend and spent nothing at the bar as we did feel that welcomed. My wife and I are pretty well travelled mostly abroad but enjoy the odd weekend away in the UK. We enjoy meeting people and have a friendly chat with everyone we meet so sad we did not receive this from many of the staff at the Galleon Inn. We will not be returning!!

We came here twice during our stay. Friendly staff in a great location overlooking the harbour. The first time we ordered ham, egg and chips which was fantastic, lovely runny eggs, great chips and ham. The second time we ordered take away pizzas. Lovely freshly made, we had to wait for the ferry to Polruan and walk up the big hill and the pizzas were still warm when we got home. They tasted great and we're massive. We'd definitely recommend this place to anyone.

Our family dining experience at The Galleon Inn was a mixed bag. While most dishes were average, the hake was undeniably off in both scent (ammonia) and sight (yellowy grey). To their credit, the bar staff handled my concerns with professionalism offering to replace the gone off fish. However, the saga took a twist when the chef delivered the replacement dish, opting for a passive-aggressive performance for the other diners shouting that “you are lucky to be in a place where the restaurant would replace the food if you don’t like the taste” I tried to tell her the fish had actually gone off but she’d retreated to the kitchen. If you're venturing to Fowey, especially during the regatta, you might want to weigh anchor at a spot where all the crew are on the same professional page.

Real nice pub, however felt sorry for an elderly man next to me at the bar . As he put his arm out to pay contactless he knocked his glass over. He asked if they could top it up and they said yes but he would have to pay again. The man decided to leave it. After he d gone the girls questioned if he knocked it over. I just thought how sad that out of good will they couldn't just have given him another one. It left a sour taste in my mouth .

Travelled into Fowey today on a rainy Sunday. Tried getting something to eat at the harbour restaurant but was told they weren’t taking any more walk ins due to rain? One of the waiters there recommended the Galleon Inn. We headed over and are so glad we did! Myself and my mum weren’t very hungry and only wanted something light to eat, however the only lighter options were ciabatta bread or a jacket potato which neither of us fancied. We decided to ask if we could have a child’s meal instead which was no problem at all and had a few options at £6.50 each. The meals came very quickly and we couldn’t believe the portion sizes for a children’s meal, very generous and cooked to perfection! We also ordered a side of cheesy garlic bread which was huge and tasted amazing! Our lovely little lunch at the Galleon in made our trip into Fowey in the rain all the more worth it!!

So I wasn't expecting great things when I ordered a standard gammon and chip meal, my husband ordered the mackerel off the specials board. This pub is one of our favourite locations to sit and have a drink while deciding where to eat. After a couple of nights visiting many of the local restaurants we decided to sit and have our evening meal here too. Above standard pub grub with a nice portion of gammon, pineapple egg, please chips and coleslaw all cooked as expected. My husband raved about his mackerel ciabatta too. The 5 stars comes from location and great value at just over £30 for a meal and drinks which made a tasty alternative during our visit.

Walking around the Fowey Quay area on a Sunday we decided on the Galleon Inn for lunch, partly because of the menu and for the waterfront location. We managed to get a table out on the deck, right on the water’s edge. The day was overcast so an outside table seemed a risk, inside was full to capacity. The menu is extensive, seafood predominates naturally but there are choices for all tastes including children’s options. My wife and I chose one of the days specials, the roast with baked vegetables. We did not have to wait long before one pork roast and one beef roast were delivered to the table. The roasts came with heaps of baked vegetables. The portion sizes were generous. The meals were full of basic flavours of home cooking, just the thing for a miserable day. Unfortunately, the rain came in when we were close to finished so beat a retreat to the inside dining area to finish our drinks. A satisfying meal, two pub style roasts and two drinks for £38.00. Recommend this venue for the food and the fantastic view of Fowey harbour.

I think the front of house staff need re-training on the word 'hospitality'.We were made to feel unwelcome from the moment we stood next to the sign 'Wait here' to be shown to a table. We stood next to the sign for a couple of minutes before a bar staff person shouted across at us "Are you together?". We are a mixed race family so maybe her eyesight wasn't too good (our daughter was with us). I shout back "yes" expecting some follow up. But she ignored us, answered a phonecall and then dropped all eye-contact. How odd I thought, maybe she'll come over in a few minutes. However, she wanders off so after another short wait I decide to take a step into the establishment which seems to do the trick and another member of staff comes over and says "Can I help you?" but not in a friendly in a tone and bearing in mind we are still gathered around the 'Wait here' sign it should be obvious. We politely ask if there are any tables available for a drink and the slightly odd response is that we are informed about what tables are not available including the ones on the waterfront and eventually are guided to some bench tables in the inner court yard. Before, we ordered, I said to my wife, "Do you get a bad vibe about this place?" She agreed, we left and were made to feel very welcome at another establishment on the waterfront. I didn't understand the comment about the tables on the waterfront at the Galleon not being available as we were able to view them from our second stop and during our time there which was approx 1.5 hours they remained empty.I don't think the front of house staff are racist but they are either anti-tourists or simply incompetent.

Not a good place to go if you are not savvy on ordering from your phone. Why should they assume that everyone uses the internet? We were given a table after saying we were not able to order via the phone but no-one came to take our order after sitting for almost 40 minutes. When querying with a member of staff we were greeted with only what I can call hostility and that we should use our phones. Hence we walked out, never to return.

We are locals and use the pub regularly for food and drinks Came in last night and the service was amazing , happy staff , massive portion sizes . Came in last Friday for a works leaving drinks and service was really good . We had a table booked for today for the 15th for 7 people , so because the new restriction came into place Monday the staff didn’t feel the need to contact us to say we can’t have 7 but instead gave us two tables of 4, on arrival we said there was only 5 of us but we wasn’t allowed to move a chair to the table. We were told our option was to sit outside in the cold . We then asked for a table inside as it was too cold bearing in mind we had just spent nearly £100 we didn’t think it to be a big problem . We were then sat at TWO tables for 4 again and told we couldn’t sit my daughter on the end on a table for 4. It was late already so no other people were going to come for food as they stop serving at 9pm yet the takeaway menu goes on untill 10pm ( wanted a pizza for my other child who stayed home ) but I was told I couldn’t order a pizza at 9pm ?? The staff told us it’s social distancing yet there were tables with 6 people on . The staff were welcoming to start but just clearly didn’t want to be there , tried making small talk with the girl on the door she just looked at me like I was from another planet , totally rude and unwelcoming especially since I’ve seen her about 10000 times since you reopened . The waitress with blonde hair and glasses continued to make us feel uncomfortable And glaring at us everytime she walked past , kept walking into the room we are eating too do nothing . We brought a cake and was told at 9pm By the same girl sorry we can’t keep it in the kitchen anymore so we said no that’s fine we want to sing to her now anyway. When she brought the plates out she was about to place them in front of me then gave me a filthy look and just slammed them at the end of the table huffed and puffed and walked off and my mum had to carry the cake in again as staff wanted nothing to do with the celebration To be honest if the staff were a little nicer tonight they would of all been offered some birthday cake . We know there’s a pandemic going on but there was no special effort made by staff considering we said it was an 18th birthday meal , no well wishes just treated us like it was a chore for us to be there spending our money. Portion sizes were ridiculous, last night I had a jacket potato that was absolutely massive but tonight it was clearly a child’s size jacket. Left feeling really disappointed and am seriously considering Making the safe harbour my local pub from now on . We spend a lot of money here and feel let down , the landlord was not there but when he is working he makes you feel wanted and comfortable and I’m sure he would of found a solution for our table issue considering the pub never rang us to say we would have to sit at two tables . Not really want you want for your sisters 18th birthday meal really

Came here as it was one of the few places that had a good menu and let dogs in. The staff work very hard to make sure everyone is happy and safe. The food is good they are currently taking part in the government 50% off mon-weds, so a bit of a bargain.

Rang the day before to book for the following evening but already booked up.They suggested we could just turn up and wait which we did.Lovely clear instructions because of the Covid situation.Inly had to wait for 3 mins to be taken to an outside but dry covered area in the courtyard.Order taken and drinks and meals arrived not long after.Calamari starter massive and perfectly cooked and delicious. All our mains -scampi,burger,and selection of fish were all tasty, hot and so filling we could not eat it all.Would definitely come back again.Great service.

We popped into the pub for a drink and asked to sit out back looking over the harbour. It was busy and the tables weren’t really spaced out.The table was splattered with seagull poo being on the harbour it would! Asked twice for someone to come out and give it a clean and twice no one appearedWe didn’t end up staying for that drink as no one was interested in clearing the table or taking our order.

Went here for lunch the other day and it was quite bad. Food looked and tasted like it had just been reheated from frozen, particularly the pizzas which were incredibly greasy to the point of being inedible. Chips were stodgy and tasteless. Served as a reminder to self to book somewhere for lunch in advance before just walking in there. Some of the staff need more training re how to act around the paying public as well, namely at least acting as if they cafe.

This restaurant came highly recommended but we were disappointed with the food. Had a seafood platter and a couple of the items looked like they had come from pre purchased freezer packs - wrapped prawns and cod pieces. A shame as I had high expectations. They had managed the social distancing very well an online ordering facility and the staff were friendly

This was our first venture out for a meal since pubs reopened and we were very pleased to find everything so well organised at The Galleon. We booked our table easily for one of the two lunchtime slots, and were shown to our table when we arrived. There’s a clear one way system and you can order online using an easy system. There is also hand gel available and the toilets have antibacterial wipes you can use for peace of mind, as well as being spotlessly clean. Service was super quick and the food was delicious. The burgers were particularly impressive! Obviously the location is fantastic with beautiful views to enjoy while you eat. All in all the perfect choice for our venture back to normality.

Came here for food, was lovely, absolutely no fault! How ever, this one young man has completely hindered the whole experience. His attitude was beyond appalling! Putting napkins into his colleagues face! Not bothering to clear tables despite walking past them numerous times. Not giving tables a thorough wipe down. Does covid-19 not exist any more?? Never mind the way he spoke to customers and colleagues! If we had seen his lack of care, consideration or language previous to placing our order we would’ve gone else where. I’m so upset as we have been coming to this pub for many years. :( The youngest lad waiting on, was trying his hardest and I feel sorry that his colleagues do not show the same amount of Care, consideration and respect he does!

This was our first meal out since easing of restrictions, and whilst on holiday. We booked a table via email as requested and received a prompt confirmation. We were given a table with a lovely waterside view, and our two dogs were welcome too. We had a friendly greeting and were asked to order and pay online. This was simple to do and the drinks and food arrived promptly. Several menu options come in a regular and small portion size which is great. We enjoyed our meal and felt it was good value for money. Happy customers!

I am a local to fowey having eaten and drunk in fowey and particularly the galleon for over 5 years, the service this evening was beyond shocking. We arrived at 8pm and was allocated a table for food and drinks. Our drinks order was taken promptly, although took a little while to arrive we understand that the current situation isn’t particularly the easiest to deal with many customers. However, we were given a menu and told we would be attended to shortly after, we were also told we were not allowed to go to the bar (which we abided by), at 9:00 we asked the member off staff why we hadn’t had our order taken, to which he responded telling us the kitchen had now closed. And when the manager arrived at our table at 9:05pm we were told the chefs had cleaned down already and gone home, and other than apologise and offer us a round of drinks .... we were not allowed food nor could they do anything. I am truly disappointed in the service and I will not be attending again. Given that at 9:05 is their last order, to be told the chefs had already gone home (And cleaned down!!) and we could not eat, and no where else in fowey is available for food at this time for us! We are truly disappointed and to make it worse it was a birthday party for our family member!

Had fish pie. Bit dry- needed more sauce. Nice salad and garlic bread. Friendly service. Quite good value. Not a memorable meal. Allright but I have had better, and, to be brutally honest there is better in Fowey.

We came here for lunch while wandering around the town and glad we did. Several vegan options on the menu (great for my newly vegan husband), specials on the boards and lots of variety. The portions are generous so go hungry! Nice view on the quay. Recommend the cauliflower and broccoli bake - it’s so cheesy and very comforting!

More restaurant than pub. Glad to have dining space away from the bar as there was a particularly rowdy group at the bar when we first entered. The menus had lots of choice and there were several specials on the blackboard which tempted us too.A good hearty meal was had washed down with a few pints.A lovely winter's night meal at a good price for Fowey or anywhere else for that matter. Main courses were £10-12 with some fish dishes higher

After a long walk along the coastal path we popped in for a well deserved lunch! Lovely atmosphere, friendly welcoming staff and good wholesome food. We liked so much we went back a second time and everything was just as good. Food was piping hot and extremely tasty. The pies are to die for, loads of filling and the puff pastry top just melted in our mouths. Will definitely be going back when we next visit Fowey. Excellent value.Highly recommended.

The staff were very friendly. The hot drinks were alright and the cakes were alright. They didn't rush us. The whole atmosphere was really nice and lovely. I didn't have to raise my voice to speak to my boyfriend who has a hearing impairment which is a hearing aid.

We were on holiday and ended up eating here 3 times. We had our dog who typically was nervous in eating places so we never bothered eating out, we were given a table in the corner and asked for the same one every time which they obliged as she was settled, it helped that the staff were all so helpful and the food was so nice, would highly recommend the Pityme Inn and we will visit again, it made our holiday
