Excellent food and service would definitely recommend a visit. Reasonably priced and the best restaurant in Fowey. 10 out of 10

Friendly welcome. Our table was ready for us when we arrived. Very friendly, helpful and happy staff. The food was delicious and very well presented. It was lovely to see almost all customers had dogs with them.

Great seafood. We had the mussels and the goats cheese starter. Friendly staff great atmosphere, very accommodating.

Great night with family . Lots to choose from the menu and specials were also available. Had the scallops that were caught that day for stater , tasted Devine . Shared a fish stew which we couldn’t finish as there was so much ! Mussels, cod, tiger prawns to name but a few that were in it Would highly recommend this restaurant if you are staying near by

We were super hungry since we didn't have lunch and I was craving scallops. Unfortunately there were none on the menu or the daily special. I asked anyway and got lucky. The food was very good and we would like to come back.

Really disappointed overall. Came here on our only night in Fowey, decided this would be the one place we'd dine - wish we didn't. Started off OK, starters were ok but took a long time to arrive, as did the main. After over an hour from ordering we still didn't have the mains. As a couple, we spent 2 and a half hours here because of how long each course took. The service was poor, we were sat by the door (freezing with a storm hammering down outside) in a half empty restaurant. Starters OK, mains not good at all (surf and turf not worth the £39), dessert was good (frozen roulade). Menu was all over the place, not told what was unavailable. Schnitzel "Not on today" but not told until we'd decided on it, so had to choose something quickly which wasn't ideal. After we ordered we overheard other tables being offered food we weren't told about, like scallops...One main (chicken bacon burger) was left after the 'meal' virtually uneaten and no one asked, or cared...I wouldn't come again, or recommend it. After spending £130, it didn't seem worth it. Saving grace is the decor, if you like music memorabilia. Left very deflated.

We had a really enjoyable evening at Sam’s. Despite a mix-up with the time of our booking they found us a table with space for our dog. The fish soup, grilled sardines and burgers were excellent and the staff could not have been more helpful. Highly recommended- Sam’s has obviously stood the test of time.

Loved this place! Variety on menu was amazing. Food was awesome. Served in a very timely manner. Staff were so lovely. The one gent who served us, possibly manager or owner? Was so nice, nothing was too much trouble. Music was right up my street. Decor was nice. Dog friendly an absolute bonus. Highly recommend

been here plenty of times in my life and have always loved it. staff are lovely and friendly and atmosphere is great. ordered the seafood feast and it was massive - however the sardines did overpower the plate and wish the little prawns were king prawns and warm/hot instead of cold. it was nice, just not great.

I’ve heard about speed dating but not speed dining. I’d booked this weeks ago for my partners birthday. We’d had a lovely lunch at Sam’s in the summer so decided to book for his birthday. We arrived at 6.45. Gave our order and the wine was delivered straight away. Promptly by the starters then straight away by the scallops an burger and then straight after by the ice cream. Sadly although food and staff are good we felt like we were on a conveyor belt. We won’t be coming back

Went to order food manager was rude and sharp. I understand he was prepping for a busy night but as a customer wouldn't go again purely because of the way we were treated. Food was average nothing special

Really pleased we found Sam's for our evening meal. The lasagne was amazing, 3 of us had it and we really enjoyed it. Really friendly helpful staff and a lovely setting made the evening.

Great food and great service. Red mullet with stir fry was lovely. Grilled sardines were lovely too.

Unfortunately very disappointed with our meal here. We had heard a bit about Sam’s so booked in, when we arrived we were taken upstairs which didn’t quite have the same atmosphere as downstairs. Ordered a reasonable bottle of wine and the deluxe seafood platter but was disappointed by both. It looked great (picture attached), however the bulk of the platter was 6 sardines (which were not our favourite and imbalanced with the rest of the seafood). The prawns were also cold and a huge improvement we’d suggest is fresh bread, a better salad (e.g rocket and balsamic, something fresh) rather than the basic one with coleslaw that’s been ready all day. The wine wasn’t great and the whole experience not as expected. Such a shame as the restaurant has clearly great potential.

Despite visiting Fowey every year it was our 1st time at Sam's. We pre booked our table which was lucky as it was very busy. Staff were very friendly and helpful, there was slight delay in receiving our drinks and food due to how busy they were, but this was not an problem and our server was extremely apologetic. Food was really good, especially the fresh fish special which my partner had. The decor and atmosphere was great too. We will definitely return.

Excellent food. I had the Thai Fish Curry, loaded with mussels, shrimp, crevette and cod in a delicious spicy Thai sauce, a bit like a bouillabaise. The fish and vegetables were perfectly cooked. My wife had the whole plaice, also perfectly cooked.

Really bad service. Asked for a table with space for a pram and team did not accommodate us. Either we sat at the back or leave. Had to leave.

After doing some homework we decided on Sam’s for dinner in Fowey. We did not book and was offered a 90 minute seating. We ordered the sardines and the mussels for starters. Both dishes were delicious and fresh. We followed it with calamari which was equally delicious. Great food delivered with a smile. Thanks

We decided to come here because of the great reviews. The Calamaris and Red Thai mullet we chose was tasty and cooked well but sadly let down by a big plate of bland gritty salad with no dressing. We felt overall was very overpriced but I guess you are paying tourist prices.

This was a cozy and popular restuarant in an awesome, and niche location I wanted to try. The service was not that far above quite good. We were sent upstairs then waited few mins then back down stairs, the put 6 of us on a table that ment a chair was just stuck on the side of a small booth. The dri is and water service was just OK ish. Food was decent and staff were friendly.

Our favourite go-to place in Fowey. Food is delicious and the service is always excellent. Beautiful, fresh food, and very reasonably priced. We can always rely on Sam’s for a wonderful meal, no matter the time of year. Thanks to everyone at Sam’s for making our visits so memorable ☺️

Very over rated, burgers better at any fast chain outlet. Prawn cocktail watery poorly defrosted, caused upset stomach. Cheap quality frozen chips. Cook 1/5 is too high a rating.

Well, what s fabulous place. Owner (Ed) found us a table as we hadn’t booked and we had our dogs with us. The scallops were fresh and cooked to perfection, my plaice was equally as delicious. Portions were excellent value for money. Josh (Ed’s Lad) looked after us and we had great service. We will be back when next in Fowey.

Wandered in heading up to the bar. "You got a booking" said the man serving tables, pleasantries clearly already used up earlier. "Just going up for a cocktail" said we. "We don't have a cocktail bar" *Pop upstairs and see a bar, with people and tables and everything, even people drinking cocktails* Odd think we. Off we pop elsewhere. For a cocktail and a welcome. NB. Locals and family. Probably won't bother with any Sam's again. Shame as they used to be ok.

Gorgeous food! We had the seafood boulabaisse and grilled gurnard. Both delicious were delicious. Service was very good too. We loved it so much we visited Sam’s on the Beach too.

Worst cocktails ever, followed by extremely rude staff. Avoid at all cost. How this place is open is beyond me. I'm guessing get their money from tourist.

We used to love this place but now will avoid. Fairly empty restaurant, group of four was seated on the roof, a single table surrounded by high garden fence close to kitchen chimney. Front line staff very nice, fish and chips small portion of fish bulked up with mush peas £17 mussel dish great then a £31 steak did not show due to restaurant mistake. We had a 40 minute wait for the mistake some drinks sent up did not lift the mood. Coming down to the ground floor finding the restaurant half empty with comfort and atmosphere I was disappointed. I had a discussion with the manager finding him rude and in no way coming close to a reasonable resolution. We used to love this place will now avoid.

When in Fowey, you must call into Sam's at least once.

Simply loved the place. Both chose different "Specials" and were delighted. Service was excellent but not intrusive, welcoming without being over the top. The food was amazing. Great atmosphere and decor. Highly recommend a visit.

Had a Thai curry here on the 1st of August 24,I can honestly say one of the best meals I've ever had,don't miss out if it's on the menu when you visit

We was told what a great place to eat so we visited 31st July On arrival looking what a great place to be met by a woman at the front doors we asked have ypu a table for 5 people please?? Her reply No seats we are full everyone comes in this time.....I got the feeling she didn't care anyway and apeared very rude. So we about turned turned to walk away, to be called by a lovely guy to ask are you looking for seats he couldn't do enough for us thank you well done you. Think the woman didn't care that she would of loss £130 Not sure if she should be on front of house BUT AMAZING FOOD

If you want an example of outstanding customer service and hospitality, go to Sam's in Fowey. I messed up, I didn't get my online booking right, and I only realised two hours before we were due to arrive. Enter Ed, the manager at Sam's, who could not have been more accommodating to help us. Ed managed to get us in (party of 9) and we had the warmest welcome when we arrived. Harriet our server was kind and helpful and we had amazing food and drink, served by Ed and his team. Some of the adults stayed behind for a drink afterwards and we were made to feel welcome and not rushed. So in summary, if you want to see great service, and eat great food, head to Fowey and to Sam's, you will not be disappointed!

Had the best bouillabaisse dish here. My friends all went burger and said their dishes were fabulous too. Great service, not the cheapest place in town but it was good value. Generous portions too.

The best Moules mariniere I've had for a longtime. Succulent mussels cooked to perfection, tender and juicy Apricot bread and butter pudding, very rich, lots of apricots and HUGE.

Only in Fowey for one night, called in without booking and were really lucky that they could fit us in. Was really busy with all tables booked and others that walked in could not be seated. All the staff were excellent and really cheery, food arrived in good time and was exceptional! Will definitely return if we are in the area.

We were treated really well and totally enjoyed it.

From the moment we entered, all experienced felt rushed. One waiter seemed overly funny and friendly, rest seemed not bothered. Food was plentiful and muscles really good ,but the rest was deep fried, and the super sharer was just a normal sharer ( two different ones on the menu). During this week, I have ate cheaper and better seafood ,but I think visiting Sam's is just experience.

What a fantastic restaurant.My wife wanted somewhere special for celebrating our wedding anniversary.From the moment we got there we were made very welcome.We ordered starters scallops which were beautifully cooked.Our mains followed the same pattern.My wife had the mussels and I had the green thai fish curry.A special thank you to the young ladies who looked after us. Managed to get a table as a walk in… very lucky as they spent the whole time we were there turning people away. Well cooked fresh fish, nicely presented in a relaxed atmosphere. A real find as an alternative to the usual pub and cafe fare… we’re definitely going back whilst we’re nearby.

The bouillabaisse was delicious and full of seafood and flavor. They were able to fit me in without a reservation early in the evening, but would recommend making a reservation.

Loved our family dinner here, massive portions, all delicious. Only dropped a star because... Mojitos should *always* have crushed ice, or it just tastes like boozy sugar water..! Thanks team, the dogs loved you.

Delicious food. Husband had the sardines which were cooked to perfection. I had stir fry vegetables with wonderful falafel and hummus. The best food we’ve had all week. Staff were very welcoming and friendly.

We’ve been coming to Sam’s for years. A visit to Fowey isn’t complete without at least one dinner at Sam’s. There is nowhere else that offers the combination of fresh fish of the day dishes, burgers, excellent decor and a banging rock soundtrack that they have. It’s the coolest place in Fowey. We love the fish soup and the cocktails. Enjoy!

It is really tasty place for seafood lovers. I have been twice for dinner and enjoyed every dish I had. Scallops amazing, red gurnard super good, soup best of the best…. Recommendation to book in advance, often no tables available.

A fantastic lunch! I do not normally go out of my way to leave reviews but the food was amazing. The surf and turf was excellent. Everyone's meals were good sized portions, and quality fresh food. I'm glad we decided to visit.

The food was cooked nicely and it was fresh. The atmosphere was comfortable with nice decorations of memorable music albums (some of them signed as well!). We had a platter of seafood starters and various other small dishes, two glass of wine and a dessert! So, why the two star review then?! Well… We ordered something from the menu that never made it to our table and we’ve been charged for that;until we asked for an adjusted bill… Our table was reserved a few weeks ago and they knew we’re coming. After 1h and 15mins, whilst we’ve just had our dessert and we wanted to finish of our wine, we’ve been handed the bill by the waiter without asking for it…We’re told that the next booking arrived and we had to leave the table. They apologised! Is that audacity, I wonder. Please note that the confirmation email received, mentioned a two hour booking slot. I’ve never had such a bad experience on a restaurant and we felt very uncomfortable so we just paid and leave. Tables that were already enjoyed their experience when we stepped in, were still there and haven’t been asked to leave. It would be nice to think of the customers feedback…some of them travelling from far away;to visit a nice Cornish village and enjoy the food of an authentic restaurant… I guess, maybe next time…

Came here for mother's day. A very warm welcome by the staff and very knowledgeable about the food and menu choices. Extremely helpful. We had our 2 young children with us so they provided colouring in for them to do while we waited. Lovely selection of food available and very tasty. Will go again.

Our new favourite local restaurant! Fish restaurants in the UK are never cheap and the food can be pretty average but Sams offers excellent fish dishes, very well prepared and at a pretty reasonable price. Good, friendly service that was attentive but not overly so, so we didn't feel in any way rushed. We will certainly be returning.

A excellent place for a FISH meal - got what we wanted and a good selection, had 2 meals here both superb- Moules on fist night and Gunard steaks on second - others had Plaice and Scallops all were first class. Prices acceptable and wine /beer available. Would recommend and Ed the manager very friendly and good service.

We visited for a family meal and Ed was amazing. I have dietary requirements and normally find something on a menu but never very exciting. Once Ed realised this he went the extra mile and spoke to the chef and between them I was made to feel very special and had a lovely meal. All other members of the party thoroughly enjoyed their food as well and even Max the dog was made to feel special. Thank you so much Ed wished we lived closer but we will return. P S. great music

Called in on spec and were fortunate enough that they could find us a table. So friendly and welcoming. Food was superb, the menu choices were amazing but went with the host’s recommendation of some beautiful sea bream. A stunning perfectly cooked meal. Highly recommended 👌

We had an really good quality fresh seafood at Sam's. Just what you'd want for a seaside restaurant but something you don't always get. The staff are lovely and attentive, especially the manager/owner who looks after you really well.

Great little bistro in the increasingly popular town of Fowey. A great selection of home made burgers with a whopping king size for the very hungry. My burger was great although we also had scampi which was a little bland, but overall a good meal in a pleasant 'music themed' environment. Staff very friendly and helpful but you do need to book as it does get busy. We would recommend for burger and a beer any time.

Plenty of fish options (not all battered). Sam’s bistro offers a full menu and our corner booth was spacious with a private feel. An unexpected find worth a test drive! Lunch for two with some alcohol is shy £100. Moules as a shared starter was great.

Food was Fabulous. Manager was nice and friendly. Birthday Banners put out as one of us had a birthday. Waitress, miserable. Don't think she smiled once. Didn't make us feel welcome. Obviously, hospitality is not the job for her. Don't know how she would cope if it was busy

Outstanding food in terms of both quality and quantity, served with a smile. The lunch offer on Friday for two courses, for £20, was excellent value. I had the sardines on toast followed by mussels, both dishes were superb. My wife was equally pleased.

Our very dear friends invited us down to Sam's for lunch. The hours journey was well worth it. The food was good, the attention given to the diners to make sure they were happy was also good. The whole experience of this place for our first time was very satisfying. I would certainly recommend this restaurant.

Worth a visit. Nice atmosphere and pleasant staff. The food was tasty, but my bouillabaisse was spoiled by the keynote flavour being chilli and a complete lack of the traditional fennel flavour, which one would expect, and I enjoy. There's no mention of this on the menu, and I would not have ordered it if it had.

We rang a couple of hours ahead of our visit , to check if it was ok to bring a dog . We were seated a little way away from another family as it was fairly quiet . I was so pleasantly surprised to have such good seafood, cooked to perfection, it’s the best meal out I have had for a couple of years. My dog was well behaved so no problem. We were well behaved, and the service was amazing, thank you !

Popped in for some dinner after Soa day and the lasagne was amazing, stir fry with bubbles burger was sublime and the relish - could be bottled! Ed was amazing and so friendly fitting us in despite being booked .

Nice place and very nice staff, but insanely overpriced. 12 calamari rings on a tiny salad for £18? Not worth it.
