Quay Bakery in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

Whenever I'm working in Fowey, I make a point to visit Quay Bakery and stock up with their baguettes, sourdough, Gouda pasties and treacle tart. This month I discovered their Eccles cakes - the best I've ever had. Everything's good, a lot of it's sublime, the staff are lovely* and the prices are fair. Faultless. *The other day I didn't have time to wait while they cut the new treacle tart, so on their suggestion I paid while I was there and went back after work when they were shut; but they came to the door with tart bagged, and a smile. Brilliant service.

The best traditional pasty I have had in Cornwall, and the sourdough loaf and cakes were brilliant,was waiting for misses in a shop , the shop window drew me in , really good bakery ( pasty was huge ) ,will return when we’re down again

The pasty wow you can tell its made on site daily .... plenty of meat and veg in it ..... nicely seasoned....cooked to perfection..... one of best I've ever eaten

Amazing variety of pasties, pastries Cakes and Breads. Made by a team who clearly love the whole concept of baking and take pride in offering a brilliant product that puts any competition to shame. Fowey is lucky to have this place.

Stopped off and had a steak pasty and can honestly say the very best lots of meat all the way through and a vey crusty pastry, also wasn’t all running with juice inside , beautiful !!!! 😊😊😊😊

Everytime i’m in the area on a walk I have to pop by for a pastry on the way back - honestly the best pastries and breads from Quay Bakery. They open nice and early too so if you’re staying locally it’s handy to pop over for extra breakfast bits! I was staying in Fowey last week and their Carrot Cake was delicious!

Best pasty in Cornwall? I think so. Freshly made throughout the day so always at their best. A bakery I wish I had close to home

The most fabulous bakery, worthy of positive comparison with the very best. The breads are delicious, as are the pies and cakes. I doubt you can pass this place, even from just looking in through the window!

We stayed opposite Quay bakery so visited each morning for bread and pastries for breakfast. Everything was delicious and freshly baked - the bread made the best toast ever

We can only echo the glowing reviews. You can taste the quality in every mouthful. My husband loves Cornish pasties, but so many these days are disappointing. Those at the Quay are exceptional. No searching for steak with a microscope, unlike so many others. Lovely chunks of quality local ingredients in both varieties of pasty, encased in delicious buttery pastry. They clearly stick to what they are best at and only sell top products, which they obviously love when you talk to them about what they make. We tried one of each and then had to go back after an hour or so to get more to take home! Such a treat. We're sad that we can't get some delivered, but possibly just as well for our waistlines.

Saw the window display and could not walk past. Everything looked amazing. Settled on a Cinnamon bun and Pain au Chocolate…both delicious. Had I been able to eat more I would have spent a fortune!

You need to try a Almond Cruffin! So so tasty & better then a Waitrose croissant! Also the bread is delicious and soft especially the ciabatta loaf!

Bought a traditional pasty and a cheese and onion pasty for tea that evening, got home and cut them in half, ate the traditional first, very nice, good gravy even when cold, great pastry too, very crisp. Now the cheese and onion pasty, hands down the best cheese and onion I've had, the crimp tasted like a cheese straw, so good, will be back soon.

The best bakery in Fowey, we visited here in a couple of times. Delicious bakery treats and good prices! Would certainly recommend to others

We stopped in early in the morning to pick up for snacks for our hike. Our experience is that when you arrive early to a bakery you are able to purchase what what fresh baked that day. I was given items that were left over from the previous day, when I asked for the fresh ones I was told that that is not how it is done, that everything isn't made fresh daily and that I had to take the one she was giving me. In the end, the items that we purchased were above average. I had simply hoped for items that were fresh baked.

We used the bakery for fresh rolls whilst staying in Fowey. The malted rolls were very lite and flavoursome. The chiabata rolls complemented the lasagne from Kittoes oerfectly

We found it impossible to walk past this bakery and I'm glad we didn't. The best pasty we've had all week, buttery pastry and chunky steak & veg. All homemade on site (out the oven at 11am) clearly with a lot of love. The rosemary and salt focaccia was also very yummy, a great 'side' to my pasty :)

Honestly the best pasty I have ever had in Cornwall. It’s filled to the brim with chunky veg and meat. I honestly wish I lived in Cornwall as I think about this pasty every time I’m home!

When I go to Fowey I get so excited because I can go to this amazing bakery. The food is always freshly baked and there is a great selection of baked treats. My favourite !

This bakery should come with a health warning, you just cannot resist once you have tasted their Cinnamon buns, and treacle tart. Had to call in again at 8am and take extra supplies home after our holiday !

We had their traditional pasties for lunch today after reading the rave TA reviews. Yes, they are large, but are nowhere close in taste to those from most others we have eaten in Cornwall - the filling was dry and the pastry was so so. Maybe this was an off day for the bakery.

Recommend this bakery all the choices are top quality . We had pasties and walnut and rosemary loaf - wow !!!!

Had my first traditional Cornish pasty in Cornwall today. Couldn’t have picked a better place to try. The pasty was the size of my head (I have a massive head) would definitely get one from here again. 10/10

Excellent top quality bakery with wonderful sourdough and a good selection of speciality breads and sweet treats. The "cheesy feet crackers" make a delightful addition to any cheeseboard and their friendly staff make a visit to Quay Bakery a very pleasurable experience!

We are Fowey regulars and have seen this baker move from smaller premises into their current location. Their bread is fantastic (especially love the rosemary and walnut loaf) as is their millionaires shortcake. Strongly recommend a visit!

Pasty was very nice. Huge! Thick crust but the filling had plenty of meat and nice big chunks of veg. Walnut & carrot cake was great and the scones were lovely too. Friendly service.

Queued up for ages to buy 4 very mediocre pasties . Two steak two cheese . All very dry and lacking in taste . Had far better and paid far less .

The plain sourdough is excellent, keeps really well and makes brilliant toast. All the cakes we tried were superb, especially the Millionaire's Shortbread (of which we ate far too much!). We went in every day we were in Fowey... don't miss it!

We brought items here a few times to take with us for picnics. We esp loved the bread pudding, paradise slice and sausage rolls. Items were flying off the shelf when we went in the morning.

Visited several times over our stay, tried many items! Sourdough loaf was lovely, great selection of other breads and rolls too. Stayed for a few days in a holiday cottage opposite. One of the daily highlights was the warm saffron rolls with my coffee, absolutely best way to start any day!!!

Popped in for a snack and had veg saucesage rolls. Confirmed carnivore loved them. Very friendly staff.

Really tasty sour dough bread. So glad I bought here rather than in a chain! Friendly staff and one-customer-at-a-time policy to keep everyone safe. Look forward to next trip here for more great breads

Great COVID queing system, very quick service, and huge pasties ... went down a treat on a sunny summers day

I always get a pasty from this bakery whenever I'm in the area and it was phenomenal! There really is nothing like a genuine cornish pasty. I was served on this occasion by a polite and nice young man (I didn't get a receipt so I didn't get the name) who was more than happy and helpful when answering questions we had about the town, on a different visit I was served by a nice young lady by the name of Daisy (as it says on the receipt), and on a visit in March was served by another warm staff member by the name of Hannah. I could not fault these members of staff as they were polite and friendly. However, really unfortunately this bakery is severely let down by it's COVID-19 protection. Only the young man who served me was wearing a face mask, even after it was made compulsory to wear a mask in shops. Within the shop there was little to no care for virus protection, there was a social distancing square for the shopper to stand on (that wasn't enforced by staff) and a hand sanitiser dispenser that was empty. On a previous visit I was told by a friendly member of staff that she believed that wearing masks was ineffective and that the coronavirus was a myth, which I think was the mentality when re opening this bakery. Fantastic food, but this bakery needs to realise that a pandemic is currently happening and protect their customers.

Sorry but must have been unlucky today. When we cooked the Pasty there was virtually no meat in it. Incredibly disappointed having seen the reviews. If I was staying in Fowey I would have gone back to complain.

Pipped to the last few traditional cornish pasties by the visiting Royal Navy, so forced to take a couple of Cheese ones..... all I can say is Thank You Royal Navy.... AM.... AZ.... ING!So much so that without tasting the traditional, I happily put in an order for 20 to bring back home, along with 8 Cornish Gouda... only stopped ordering more due to the size of the pasties and limited car and freezer space back at home.Other highlights include the bread pudding, bakewell tart and scones.A must visit if you're in Fowey.Caveat, these pasties are hand made, so a little rustic in appearance and if you don't like chunky filling, go for the mass produced, wafer thin sliced content of other establishments.... and leave these pasties for those who appreciate heartily filled and lovingly crafted fare.

Always have to get a past from here when going past, they are amazing! Great value for money and taste is incredible! Quite often get stopped and asked where I got my pasty from!

One of the best pasties we have eaten.A little bakery down the main street, with a hdddle of people waiting outside, is always a good sign. Freshly baked pasties sat in the windos enticing you in. We bought a traditional pasty and a Gouda and onion pasty too. Takeaway only, which is the perfect excuse to go find a place to sit and enjoy the surroundings your in. A light, buttery pastry with good size chunks of meat and veg inside. Did I mention, the pasties are huge, very good value. Other bakes, such a breads, sausage rolls and sweets also available, they looked very lovely too!This is a must visit when you go to Fowey

Fantastic bread and a wide choice. We picked up a fresh loaf every day over our weeks stay in Fowey, didn't go anywhere else.

The quality is quite outstanding. The bread is perfect, it melts in the mouth, I also bought a couple of their overnight bread rolls which were so light but with real flavour. I suppose that as with many it is their pasties for which they are best known. I had the Cornish Gouda and onion, which was huge and packed full of tasty veg, it served as my main meal of the day. I was staying opposite and as soon as I saw them appear in the window I crossed the road to buy one. It was wonderfully hot and still was as I got towards the end. Helpfully they put a notice up to tell you when the pasties will be out of the oven. Oh as a treat before coming home I bought a piece of their bread pudding and I suppose that it goes without saying that it was the best bread pudding I have ever had, no skimping on the fruit with this, wonderfully moist and flavoursome. Quay bakery is simply one of the best bakeries I have ever come across.

Best Pasties in Cornwall....a must always when you’re in Cornwall and I’ve had a few over the years, however, these are the best I’ve tried. Massive chunks of tender beef, delicious vegetables and seasoned perfectly! Will come here again to take some home with me!!

I visited here in November 18 and then again recently in Sept 19. We stay in Looe but make a visit here to buy some banana and five muffins but unfortunately they didn’t have any. We tried the pasty instead and wow - best pasty I’ve ever had in Cornwall! We will be returning again in February during our stay in Looe.

Well. What can we say. What a lovely little bakery this is. I can honestly say that we had never had a Cornish Pasty this big ever. And it was packed with flavour. It was a meal in it's own and after eating them we had to skip dinner untill very late. Best pasty by far so far.

I walked all around Fowey looking at the many pasty offerings. We were drawn into this bakery by a) the fact that it was an independent b) the generous size of the pasties (with - hallelujah! - a non-traditionally THIN pastry 'handle' ) and c) the variety of pasty. We had Cornish Gouda and red onion pasty and it was absolutely delicious; the cheese was tangy, the onions generous and the pastry thin and crumbly. There were lots of other enticing-looking things like sourdough baguette and bread and butter pudding. A real bakery is a delightful thing.

Lovely little bakery ! We had a delicious ‘still warm’ traditional Cornish Pasty - enormous ! Plus I was piggy and got a slice of their Bakewell tart meaning to save it ‘ for later ‘ ( no chance ) it was so light ! The pastry was perfect the filling was perfect !Highly recommend!

I'm giving it a good rating as we got there round 4pm and it was pretty empty thus I assume it must be good. We managed to get a rosemary Foccaccia though and it was delicious.

Excellent bakery in the heart of Fowey. Their traditional pasties are amazing, perfectly seasoned and will definitely not leave you hungry! Treacle Tart and Brownies were delicious too.

The fresh bread is fantastic and would strongly recommend their seeded loaf- the chicken pasties are out of this world though! If only I could get these now I am back home... well worth a visit

I thought that the Christmas panettone was flavour fantastic (I bought 10 of them for friends). Then we tried the Bakewell tart last week which was superb - nice short pastry not too much jam lots of almonds. All this and best bread for miles.

Fresh local produce, the bread, rolls, saffron buns and bread and butter puddings were delicious, to name just a few few of the freshly baked delights on offer. The staff were friendly and helpful and the homemade jam to go with their scones was lovely.

Visited here several times during my stay in Fowey. All the bread and pastries were baked fresh on site (several other bakers would get daily deliveries instead) - starting with the bread early in the morning, about 9 for pastries, then the pasties about 10! Staff were friendly and informative, and the produce was simply stunning.

Good job we found this bakery late in our holiday or it would have been a temptation to try everything. Freshly baked each day that's why pasties not ready till 11am but worth the wait and they are huge.

We read reviews saying how lovely the traditional pasties are at Quay Bakery. We waited for them to come out of the oven and boy was it worth the wait! DELICIOUS. Good job we do not live in Fowey as we would certainly gain weight!

I bought a Bread, pasties and an impulsive purchase of bread and butter pudding. Great produce and it's always good to invest in local businesses. Should have bought another portion of the pudding!

This is a little gem. All bread is baked on the premise. A true artisan bakery, offering all kinds of cakes, bread etc. Wish it was our local bakery, Fowey is so lucky

The best bakery in Fowey, everything is great, Treacle Tart amazing. Walnut and Rosemary bread another favourite - taken back from holiday to freeze for times when we need to remember what we are missing. That leaves the regular bread which is also really good !

For my 50th Birthday my partner ordered a carrot cake from Quay bakery, knowing it was my favourite. 4 years on and it has become a tradition. If you love carrot cake, you will not be disappointed. Hands down this is the best carrot cake EVER !!!

This is buy far one of the best fresh bakers I’ve ever come across. The taste of and softness of the bread I bought was outstanding.

There is a really good selection of different breads here. The one we bought was really tasty and so fresh it was unbelievable

Worth visiting first thing in the morning for their freshly baked bread. Really friendly and I’m glad I don’t live nearby as I would be in there every day and putting on a lot of weight!!! Not that it’s unhealthy at all, it just all tastes too good!

This bakery sells various cakes, even gluten free cakes, bread, pizzas and other Items too much to mention. The hot cross buns were extremely fresh, soft and of course delicious. You must visit when in Fowey. You won’t be disappointed.

Queued up for Pasties before lunch, had one traditional meat and one Guoda and onion, both delicious and huge. Also had a Saffron bun and the monkey muffin on a separate day which were also really tasty. Friendly staff and good atmosphere, you can tell they love what they do!

We visited the Quay bakery during a short trip to Fowey. The beef pasties were stunning and the seeded loaf we bought was beautiful, fresh and wholesome. The staff were friendly and helpful. We would thoroughly recommend it!

Buy their marmalade - you won't be disappointed! Amazing bread and cakes, but it doesn't stop there. Their preserves which they make themselves are out of this world.
