Called in this evening as we were passing for a bite to eat, whilst the pub had just opened so we had to wait a short while for the kitchen to open, I can honestly say it was worth it. The food was delicious. All 4 meals were freshly prepared and served and was well worth it. Delicious home cooked food.

Really lovely establishment, great food, great coffee and mostly great service. But sadly, we won’t be returning. We shut the front door as we were feeling too chilly and a member of staff soon after reopened the door. As another member of staff passed we asked if she was able to shut the door for us as we were too cold, she said this was absolutely fine and apologised for the other member of staff. Within a matter of minutes again the previous member of staff opened the door again. The cold was unbearable, we ended up sat in our coats and had to get takeaway boxes for our cakes.

While waiting for the actual Garden Centre to "open" at 10.30 we visited the cafe for a coffee a tea and two sausage sandwiches. Unfortunately after twenty minutes, (just as I was going to enquire where our order was), the waitress arrived with two bacon sandwiches????Apparently the "girl" had pressed the wrong button 😳 therefore changing our order to something completely different, the waitress did offer to change the sandwiches but in all honesty another twenty minute wait was definitely out of the question. Beyond dissaponted and expected better, such a shame.

We stopped in for lunch and were not disappointed, food was lovely, hot and good portions. Dog friendly, water bowl given as soon as we arrived. I spotted board games stacked up to the side which is great if you want to kill a couple of hours. Staff are really friendly. Nothing bad to say, thank you.

I've had the all-day vegan breakfast at the Box Kitchen a few times now and I've been meaning to rave about it as it far and away the best vegan breakfast around - in terms of value for money and as well as quality of the food. The staff are always helpful and friendly and as a venue, it's really hard to beat! Plymouth has been waiting for somewhere as good as this for a long time, so I for one intend to remain a regular patron.

Probably the worst pub food I’ve ever eaten in my life, and I’ve had a few! Apparently, the chef had to leave at short notice, which should have sounded alarm bells, but, being typically British, we didn’t want to get up and leave having already said we wanted food! The lady behind the bar was a customer, who had only popped in for a drink, but she had a streaming cold, literally dripping from her nose, and we didn’t see her washing her hands once! We ordered two lasagnas and two cottage pies, which were probably microwave heated Tesco value meals, with tinned peas and cold chips! The only positive being, that we ended up laughing at just how terrible this experience was! In comparison, we ate at The Globe on our first night in Lostwithiel, then at Sunny Spice (Indian) the following night, both being delicious in comparison…

We have been visiting this cafe most weekends since we moved here over a year ago as we are renovating a property and have limited kitchen facilities. Went there this morning for breakfast. It was very cold and only table available was by the door. I understand that people have to come and go out of the door but when one if the waitresses went outside and left the door open and then chatted to new customers on the doorstep we asked if she vould close the door. We were then told off by another very rude waitress from the counter. We feel it would be nice for them to care more about the people already in the cafe trying to eat a warm breakfast. It is a shame really as it has always been part of our weekend routine but not sure I will go again now.

Had a very enjoyable stay in this hotel for three nights. I appreciated the large Victorian style. A large bathroom and a just big enough bedroom. Bathroom had a door stop to stub your toe on right in front of the towel rail, not so clever. Wonderful views out over the water to Wales. English breakfast was excellent, even outstanding though their interpretation of Continental breakfast seemed to lack any cheese ham or roles. Dinner was excellent. I would have given five stars but I have to take one off as the bar areas were very gloomy grey. The menu had no pudding based on apple. Somerset one of the great apple areas of the UK with all the scores of traditional and modern apple puddings available and none available here, in the autumn apple season.

appalling service, rude management and staff. incompetent serving, was told it was an hours wait for food when other tables after our group received theirs in 10 minutes. Management of cafe refusing to work, simply stood next to the till. Museum was ok but would not recommend to anyone at any point
