Lovely space but really disappointed with the food!!! Halloumi salad was lettuce leaves and onions only, no other salad items. Come on guys that cost £11 and was not good enough. The vegan breakfast was poor too. Sausage, hash brown, beans and tomatoes only. The toms and beans weren't even hot. Again £11 and again just really disappointing. I know you can do better. Whats going on.

I have been to the Box on a number of occasions, but not for a while. I found the service to be good, particularly the male server who brought our lunch to the table. However, the food was only OK, and for the price that's not great. I went for the salad of the day, which on paper sounded nice - a cauliflower and pepper salad. However - surprise - it was not... I'm not sure if they had run out of cauliflower but these were not florets - more like cauliflower crumbs. The main flavour of the salad was vinegar, which became more and more unpleasant - I ended up not eating it all. The only reason I didn't say anything was because I was taking out a family member for lunch and they had enjoyed their lunch. Based on this, I wouldn't return very quickly. A salad of the day is a great idea, but it should still be thought through.

There has clearly been a significant change here. The menu is nowhere as good as it used to be. The specials board is plain and sourdough seems to be the go to accompaniment to most things Due to a lack of choice I ordered the tomato soup with, you guessed it, sourdough. However, when it came it was with two pieces of cheap brown bread that had been toasted. I pointed out that the specials board, a chalk board, stated it came with sourdough. So the young server went away to check and came back to say they were out of sourdough. Instead he offered brioche. Now in fairness this was a better partner to the natural sourness of the tomato soup. Yet why was the board not updated? My wife had fries with cheese. The fries are £4, look as if they come from a certain cheap German supermarket and come in a small bowl and look anemic. The cheese, an extra £2, was a measly portion. As for my daughter, she had the child's fish finger meal because the last time we were there she really enjoyed the home made fish fingers. This time they, and the beans, seem to have also come from the same German supermarket. Indeed, the juice cartoon that came with it was the same as those sold at the same supermarket. All in all she was deeply disappointed. Unimpressed, my wife spoke with the manager who stated that they were running out of food. When she challenged him about the sourdough he insisted it was that, despite the server saying something different. She then took a bite of the brown bread to prove what it was. In fairness he did refund the two other meals. At present we will not be returning here. It needs a rethink on the menu. A toastie at £10.50 with an egg on top was renamed Croquette Monsieur. What is that supposed to be????? Honesty is the key.

Food is not cheap but pretty appetizing and nicely done (apart from soup has always been over-salted) and the venue and facilities are pleasant, and handy if you are going into the museum. The main problem seems to be a bottleneck in the kitchen which means that what is quite snacky-type food has taken forever to arrive whenever we have been there, so really not a great idea if you are on a lunch break or have children with you.

Food was alright, burger was a bit bland but service was shocking. We ordered two drinks and some food within 10 minutes of being seated but after an hour and 3 reminders we still hadn’t revived any drinks. There seemed to be 3 people working the whole restaurant so everything took forever. Spoke to the manager and got the drinks taken off and we’re offered complimentary drinks but by this point we just wanted to leave the restaurant. The staff were polite but basically useless.

Only wanted to post the photo of the party but we have to do a review so this is to say that it was a warm balmy May night and the doors opened out onto Tavistock Place and a lot of smartly relaxed jolly people were having a good time. Looks like a useful venue.

This has a good atmosphere and a reasonable choice of light snacks and specials. We were warned that the waiting time for food at that time was 20 mins which was reasonable. Food was cooked just right and neatly presented. Price wise it was average for what we ordered; the order arrived on time, we were aware that they could do with more staff, particularly as the place was vey busy at lunchtime.

Came in here on February Saturday. Smart well fitted format. Apparently just a few weeks ago they started getting their selection of sourdough loaves and several different buns etc from Lloyd Inman’s excellent Rise Bakery. First rate as was the coffee. The fully glass sided structure overs good views up, down and across Tavistock Place. Although there was a board with some hot and cold drink etc choices and prices, none of the breads or toasted sandwiches or wonderfully flavoured buns had visible pricing. The polite hospitable server told me after I’d settled with my coffee and cinnamon/caramel flavoured bun that there was a fiver deal on coffee and cheese and onion toasted. Too late for me today but they’d sell a good deal more if people could see the prices and deals.

When will cafes realise that serving cheap refrigerated guacamole as a smashed avocado brunch option results in cold poached eggs and toast. Not pleasant to eat especially when eggs were slightly underdone - watery egg white. Fine for nachos but not for a nice breakfast. Doesn’t take too much forethought to order avocados regularly and smash quickly with some lime and chilli. Disappointing. Kids breakfast was ok, latte was a bit watery.

Minimum menu. Vegan items removed and hardly anything there now. Maybe it’s a Sunday menu? Don’t mention the price hikes. Look at them in the pictures! £6 for a vegan sausage roll. How presumptuous! If you wanna charge high prices then reflect it in the menu because everything looks like simple microwaveable food not put together by a chef like it used to be.

Pasta was meant to come with vegan parmesan cheese but came with grated cheese, we weren’t sure if this substitute was vegan or not, and to be honest it really lowered the look and quality of the dish, it looked like something an untrained chef would throw together, ie your parents haha We have had this dish in the past with the advertised Parmesan cheese and it was displayed and tasted wonderful. We were also disappointed to find the portobello mushroom chips are no longer vegan as they now contain egg/dairy. Why? It’s not necessary. If you are stumped for vegan dishes just go online where you will find people have done all the hard work. Overall a nice place. We like it, will return as we have also enjoyed the vegan breakfast and cakes.
