Coffee Shack in Plymouth

I visited today around 10:30 and I had to travel 45 minutes to get there , as I’m from Cornwall , and the skinny girl at the cashier she is nasty and horrible, I hope the boss sack her I will never go there again Used to be very nice staff ,

Great place to come for a breakfast.

Friendly staff, plenty of outside seating overlooking the water where you can watch the boats go by. The coffee and mocha were delicious.

It was bang on finishing time which I hadn't realised but instead of just snapping we're closed like most businesses do these days, the 2 very friendly & chatty gentlemen working there were happy to serve ice cream to my kids & waited patiently while they dithered (as kids do!) about what flavour to have. It's a shame to say but it's hard to come by top customer service anymore but not here, reasonable prices and friendly staff. Will be returning & recommending 😊

Great little place for stopping off for a hot drink. Staff are amazing and great fun. They go the extra mile to make sure your visit is a good one.

I used to go here often. Despite being fairly pricey, I thought the views made up for it. Until some 20 minutes ago. I was queuing up behind 2 young ladies, when a gentleman in his late 50s or early 60s walked up. He was chatting and joking with the red-headed spotty lad and the girl with they blueish hair, and placed his order. Both staff members clearly saw me, but thought it fine to simply ignore me and serve him instead. Lesson learned: my business is of no value to them, so I'll simply take it elsewhere

Coffee shack do a 1 pound cream 😋 plus nice tea and coffee ☕️ sometimes the staff are abit flat but that's understandable when your busy as hell

If you need a caffeine fix this is NOT the place to go ....by the time your coffee is served you will be 6 foot under. Stopped by as the queue only consisted of 3 policeman infront of me.......placed my order and then the painfully long wait started.....over 10 minutes to provide 3 coffees is a joke. And when questioned what I was waiting for, and answering a simple latte....to be told "oh sorry we had a big order ....My dear if 3 coffees is a big order than maybe you should think about a carrer change. To then here this same member of staff say "oh I'm getting the evils"...well maybe if you were proactive and rapid at your job you wouldn't be getting the stare. It would have been quicker for me to fly to Columbia and roast my own beans........

£1 ice cream with clotted cream, decent hot drinks, and the best place to sit and watch the world go by (particularly whatever's happening on Plymouth Sound).

Some fantastic views from this cafe which has an authentic Tapas restaurant below it with great views out to sea all owned by the same family. This must be the only place in the UK where a vanilla ice cream 🍦 topped with high quality Devon clotted cream at onl £1 yep a pound and it's not small either. Stunning area and new public toilets only 2 mins walk away, while the sea is right in front of you for that swim.

Lovely place to snack and have your favourite coffee with a great view over Plymouth Sound. If available you can order and eat their wonderful Chicken and Chorizo Pealla at a very reasonable price. The Coffe Shack is my favourite go to place. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

Nice coffee, nice view, a good selection of food, though not tried today, the last sausage bap I had here was lovely.

Nice on a warm sunny day and coffee is served nice and hot, customer service was ok ish but could have been made better with a more cheery approach and a smile. The view across Plymouth sound makes up for it though.

Given the location they really don’t have to try to do a good job and they would still get business but they do try. A weirdly good hot chocolate

It's OK coffee is average sausage roll was cold a little on the expensive side but then everything is going up in price so can't really complain about that worth a stop if your just passing by and need a coffee too warm up

My motorbike instructors love stopping here for a break. I haven't bought anything here though but the locals like the stuff here and the staff is nice

Certain staff make the visit an absolute pleasure. Certain staff are very happy and enjoy their work. Visit as daily routine and always our 1st place to aim. David is key person and so wonderful,polite,cleanly dressed,very professional.

Fast food outlet, take away only. Nothing to rate it as outstanding or exceptional, but as good as any other fast food outlet.

Lovely place to stop off and take in the sea view. Drink a hot or cold refreshment. Maybe have an ice cream, if not a cooked to order snack. However the young staff could make the place a more friendly place. It felt like they didn't want to be there but haven't got anything else to do. Otherwise 5 stars.

We were lucky as it was a nice sunny day when we visited the Hoe so the Coffee Shack was the perfect place to stop for a late breakfast with its stunning views over Plymouth Sound. We ordered a latte, Americano, bacon bap and an egg bap. The Coffees quickly arrived and soon after our baps were ready, having been freshly cooked to order. The staff have an efficient system of calling out orders to be collected by the customers at the serving hatch. Food and coffee were all good quality. The staff were helpful and despite being very busy remained professional and friendly. Would recommend

Great Latte in the sun in August. Sip your coffee close your eyes, block out the seagulls and you could be experiencing a Mistral from Southern France or the Sirocco from North Africa....but wait a minute, get on boy its just a gentle breeze blowing in from Plimuff Sound!!!

This is an open shack so it all depends on the weather. On a nice day it's a wonderful place to sit and watch the world go by.

A great selection of coffees and milk substitutes! A barista who understood when you wanted a hot cup of coffee too! Though staff should possibly avoid the levels of detail to their social life experiences for breaks and get on with serving paying customers

Ordered a decaf Americano very expensive to then notice the server start spooning instant coffee in to a cup when I asked I was told that was the decaf I pointed out I had paid for a barista coffee to which she shrugged sorry I asked for my money back which was promptly given Be aware what you are paying for

Love it here.... Prime location right on the hoe and you can always rely on them to be open rain or shine! With stunning views it really doesn't matter what the weather is doing. Everytime we visit Plymouth we come here most mornings as its the best coffee around 👍

Deary me. The coffee was great but the service was painfully slow and I could hear every conversation. No sense of urgency, constant chatting, bored staff who didn't want to be there. Took at least 15 minutes from ordering to get three coffees. The bloke behind us got his bacon sandwiches before the man in front even had his coffees. Four staff were on and it wasn't busy. A fifth lady came in at one point and sliced a cake. Our drinks sat on the side whilst they chatted about something or other I never leave bad reviews but reading what others have put I wasn't imagining the terrible service. Drinks 5, Service 1. I nearly went with 1 star but I didn't have the heart as the coffee was good.

The older lady working here has got to be the most ignorant person I’ve ever come across. Oblivious to the long queue of patiently waiting customers, her and her staff chat amongst themselves choosing to ignore what’s going on in front of their eyes outside. There is no happy smiley welcome just as little interaction as possible. Coffee Shack you need to read your reviews on other review sites - they are mostly not good. Time to change I think.

Got there just before 8 to be told they weren’t open till 8 and go somewhat else if want coffee. I waited till 8 Was then stood in queue of 1 whilst she served all her mates and had a chat and a joke etc I left I will not return and will advise all my colleagues to go elsewhere now Sheer rudeness

As a regular for many years I am very disappointed that my chosen venue for my morning coffee continues to refuse to revert to to its traditional pre lockdown opening time of 7am!! Many of the regulars have asked and asked only to be told that staff won’t come in at that time or that it’s not viable financially !! This is a venue for the people of Plymouth not the staff. The tables and chairs are not cleaned regularly the hut itself is very grubby and weeds are fighting for room on the pavement with the cigarette ends.. aThe owner seems indifferent to the place and that is such a shame. Come on coffee shack wake up and smell the coffee!!!

The coffee is pretty good but size of drinks is pretty abysmal for the price! Would be great if they could serve with any sort of urgency at all too...

Hey been here before and that miserable older woman in the photo is still working there. Wow!! Even on Christmas morning a smile was not forthcoming, she really is in the wrong job. That’s it for me and the family never going there again, a pity as such a great location sadly staffed old Mrs Grinch.

CAME here today for hot chocolate and SAUSAGE rolls .They served us Luke warm chocolate drinks and SAUSAGE rolls were ice cold not even warmed up? I now it is LOCK down but why open if you can't be bothered. DISGUSTING.

Ordered tea and coffee and eats, staff very helpful, I noticed we were the only one`s with a mask against at least 20 without, same with contact tracing, no one was using it, did feel uncomfortable in the current climate, staff were not promoting safety and I am not suggesting they have to enforce, we are are talking awareness here, other than the random placing of cones.

Fui a la choza por primera vez desde el encierro el lunes 20 de julio y me di cuenta de por qué no voy tan a menudo. Terrible servicio de café terrible de una mujer mayor que obviamente no es una persona de la gente. Sin agradecimiento o sonrisa genuinos, solo una interacción con alguien que no quería estar allí y no quería hacer nada. Nunca volveré a visitar debido a esta mujer desagradable. El resto del personal parecía estar bien.

So disappointed that we can no longer pop here for coffee due to later opening time! The coffee is excellent but a 15p price rise? Sadly I will not be visiting again.

A fantastic place to grab a cold drink, or a selection of teas and coffees. There is food too. As for the staff, what an amazing bunch. Always welcoming and full of cheer.

It was great that the Coffee Shack opened during ' the lockdown' albeit for drinks only. Thank you. It is now time to open at the original morning time of 7am to accommodate the regular early morning coffee drinkers.

This place does a lovely coffee just right for a cold breezy day followed by a really nice well done BACON sandwich.Sat in the car and looked out over the HOE while enjoying.Will definitely be back again soon.THANKYOU service was good .

Iba a llamar aquí cuando pasaba el día de Navidad, pero la cola era enorme. Pasé de nuevo el día de Año Nuevo y me alegro de haber parado esta vez. Buena selección de comida y bebidas en el menú. Los precios me parecieron realmente buenos y la calidad de la comida era fantástica. El servicio fue rápido y todo el personal fue educado. Tanto el mostrador como las áreas de preparación estaban limpias (al igual que el personal). Me alegro mucho de haberme molestado en parar y haré de este mi lugar habitual para comer cuando paseamos a los perros. Gran calidad de café también.

We stopped off at The Coffee Shack for an Ice-Cream and although the Shack is somewhat reliant on the Weather there was a lot of customers braving the Chilly December Day. Good choice of Drinks, Food and Ice-Cream Flavours the Shack is a different option in an area which has a good choice for Food & Drinks.

Prices are fantastic. Good value for breakfast and drinks. Great views! Friendly staff. Dog friendly.

Coming down from the Hoe, I was gasping for my first coffee of the morning, so the Coffee Shack came into view at the right moment. I don't have much expectations of seafront coffee stalls, except to provide a hot wet caffeine hit. But the coffee I was handed turned out to be surprisingly good--proper coffee, and no mistake. I drank it on a bench opposite the shack. Plenty of benches around there, so it's not necessary to sit at the tables laid out on the promenade by the kiosk, but you can if you like. The Coffee Shack commands a great position on the Plymouth sea road. On a sunny morning, you can take in the lovely views of the bay here while sipping a carton of their very acceptable brew.

Me detengo aquí temprano en la mañana todos los sábados. Hay un ambiente comunitario notable con unos pocos clientes habituales y la comida y la bebida son buenas. Las vistas son excelentes y el personal no ha sido más que cortés.En general, diría que hay una buena razón por la que me detengo aquí cada vez.

Vine aquí con mi novio para comer algo. Tomamos dos bebidas y dos sándwiches y llegó a poco más de 11. Tuve un jugo de naranja que estaba delicioso y él tenía un blanco plano que también era muy bueno. Nuestros sándwiches estaban muy frescos y el pan estaba delicioso, también vino con un lado de tortillas crujientes. En general muy contento con el servicio y la relación calidad-precio. También es un lugar encantador con vistas al mar, un lugar muy agradable para parar a almorzar :)

Full Breakfast was decent and good value. Wishy washy coffee at £2-50. Toast was an extra £1-75 for one round of bread! Seriously? View’s priceless which is just as well.

esperé más de 20 minutos un panini de brie y arándanos, observando a mi madre pararse en la parte delantera de la choza mientras 4 miembros del personal (2 mujeres y 2 hombres) la ignoraban, pero la vieron claramente, sin disculpas por la espera y el brier no estaba Ni siquiera se derrite, pero no se puede molestar en esperar más. . . ningún contacto o comunicación del personal dijo que nos llevarían comida, pero no nos preguntaron dónde estábamos sentados ni nos informaron cuánto tiempo, no volveremos con prisa, aunque el café era delicioso

After a yummy meal on the Barbican my friend and I decided to have ice-creams at The Coffee Shack for puds!! Imagine our disappointment upon arrival to be told everything has been packed away for the day which we totally accepted as it was nearly 8pm. HOWEVER, the young girl sensed our disappointment and took it upon herself to make our day and deliver 2 delicious clotted cream ice-creams! THANK YOU SO MUCH! You definitely went above and beyond.....you are a star!

Does what it says on the tin! Nice coffee, small selection of snacks BUT I recommend going early & grabbing a bacon sandwich, although the full English is pretty yummy too. Been coming here for over 10 years & never had a bad experience. Friendly staff (not always a fast feed ) but the view is worth a wait! Ice cream good too, try it with local clotted cream.

Was very busy with lots of customers on Christmas Day nice atmosphere with everyone working hard to get out the drinks and food

We have been coming to Plymouth for over 20 years,as working classical musicians. We have always had the best coffee at the coffee shack! And the thought of the bacon baps gets us jumping out of bed in the morning.Overlooking the sea,on the Hoe,it is the perfect setting,unbeatable on a clear day!

Drinks were good, but the visit was made really awkward and uncomfortable by the manager snapping harshly and unnecessarily at the seemingly new staff member, who was friendly and just trying to do his best. Not great in front of customers

What a shame, lovely location and that’s all, week coffee, dreadful tea, disappointing sandwiches, and all looking shabby. How do these places survive?

If the Weather is with you and you are looking for a Coffee, Cold Drink or Snack with Good Atlantic Views then The Coffee Shack should be one on your List. Good Location on Plymouth Hoe with good views. Very Good Coffee and good friendly Service.

The coffee is GOOD. Don't know wbat the blend is but I like it.

Well what can one say, this place is on the promenade on Plymouth Hoe with what is certainly one of the best maritime vistas in the southwest. Good coffee,tea and light snacks are available staff are friendly and soon become aware of regular orders. Seating is open air so is reliant on weather conditions, having said that there is ample parking with views.

Great location with wonderful views over the Plymouth sound. The ice cream was wonderful. However having to queue twice to get a cup of tea and an ice cream is a real pain in the neck.

Bargain ice cream deal at the coffee shack! We didn’t have anything else or use the outdoor seating, we just queued for an ice cream and took advantage of the £1 deal for a vanilla ice cream with a dollop of clotted cream on top. Fantastic value and delicious! We’ll be back for more!
