Went for the Sunday carvery today. The atmosphere was very friendly. All the staff were great and we had a banter with the chef which was a nice change from someone just giving you food . The food was hot and tasty. We would Recommend anyone to try it . We Will definitely go again ! Tracey & Paul

Popped in for a few for my mates birthday with our families. It was a quiet monday summer evening and not many customers, so the kitchen was closed after the busy weekend, but we didn't go out for food. Gent behind the Bar was first class. We brought a last-minute cake to make the day that extra bit special, but it soon dawned us we were completely unprepared. The Bar man went out his way to provide us with plates, cutlery, and even dug out a lighter for the candles! Top Bloke! In summary, it is a very welcoming pub. Lovely and clean inside, with a great, fair sized beer garden at the rear. Will deffently be returning!

Typical village pub, not overly welcoming and you may feel like an intruder due to the clickiness that oozes through in the stares of the “regulars”. Not an overly great choice of drinks on draft and not overly helpful staff, to the point I was stood at the bar alone for 5minutes before anyone appeared to serve. Wouldn’t rush back

Just went to get food from this venue. No mask wearing from customers, majority of people walking around and not sat at tables, 30+ people inside, no social distancing. Food came and spice levels were not what we ordered. Had to squeeze past a table of 4 to leave the venue (who of course were not wearing masks and not eating food). If, like me, you are around vulnerable people, do not venture inside!

Nos hicieron breves consultas y nos dijeron que la administración estaba de vuelta en las manos de la cervecería y planes aún no se había establecido para el futuro. No hay oportunidad de alimentación en la noche aquí hasta las nuevas disposiciones están en su lugar. Visited 31 Oct, about 7pm, not busy. No-one showed us to a table despite speaking to us on arrival, menus took ages to arrive, waiter didn't have a clue about the menu, only took one food order then left, had to shout to get him to return. Starters weren't good, rissotto balls ok but a bit bland, tomato and mozzarella salad dire, not sure how tomatoes end up mushy, only three slices of tomato, all drizzled in a garlicky oil which added nothing. Mains; steak was overcooked, chips were undercooked, pasta with prawns arrived as a soup, three prawns, three pieces of squid. Not good, No offer of bread, food passed across table by waiter for some reason instead of placing on table, waiter removed a third full pint of cider becasue we ordered another, dreadful service and no-one cared. Complained by e-mail over a week ago, no response-time to rip up the locals card!

Walked down originally for a drink on the decking at 6 as it was such a lovely evening. Had the best Pimms I,d had for ages, barmaid went out of her way to find the Strawberry's that a good Pimms should always have but quite often omitted! Spotted a family nearby enjoying their pizzas so decided to order one for ourselves. A delicious pizza of our own arrived on a wooden board from a friendly young lady. We chose the spicy Cajun pizza which came with a handful of rocket, a beautifully thin crispcrust creation that we soon devoured! They have a quite extensive Italian themed menu, we ate there in the lovely refurbished pub when it first opened and were not disappointed then. The outside space is just as good,we sat in comfortable rattan chairs watching the sun go down and listening to the sound of the nearby stream. An added bonus is the beautiful walks that can be enjoyed nearby,to nearby Warleigh woods or alongside the creek to be enjoyed before or after your meal, I,m sure well behaved dogs are welcome in the outside area too if you have one! Do try it,you'll be pleasantly surprised!!!

Visited the Queen's Arms for a birthday meal and opted for the surf and turf pizza followed by the biggest homemade strawberry meringue and cream I have ever seen plus a glass of prosecco each. It was perfect. The pizza was probably the best we had ever tasted - lobster, fillet steak, prawns, chorizo etc. etc. Lovely quirky Italian themed decor. We sat upstairs by the sloping glass window looking out to Cann Woods. The service was friendly and relaxed and will definitely be going back and recommending to friends and family.

Dropped in for lunch on Thursday around 1300 hours. No other customers. Barmaid was attentive and pleasant. Menu average. Ordered two mains and two starters. Took a while, but tasted OK. The five king prawns were served cooked and shell-less, and with a trickle of flavoured oil and 4 slices of white bread were expensive at £8.50; two desserts described as summer berries with panacotta had a squirt of jus but no berries.

We were invited to the locals night and replied accepting the invitation to try 3 new pizzas. We attended and were not even offered any pizza to taste (we were in the garden) the waiter took the sample pizza 3 times to a table the other side of the garden. We did briefly glimpse what I can only say was number 1, a breakfast pizza with baked beans and white sauce - yuk! Number 2 a seafood pizza just as disgusting. Wait for it number 3 pizza banana, chocolate and custard with a skin on it. The whole thing was a farce; we know other people had to pay to get something to eat. This is suppose to be an Italian Restaurant so why not promote other Italian dishes or the only way to go is out of the village.

What a sham, if this restaurant wants the locals to support them they need to seriously change there attitude to us , tonight was supposed to be about them asking us to try new potential pizza for the summer menu . What we got was sloppy pizza served on napkins , three whole pizzas went to one table, (must have known the chef) even they got embarrassed about the amount of pizza they got , in the end we ordered two pizzas and left. The sign said 25% off for take away pizza but we had to pay full price. ????If this place doesn't change soon they can have my "locals" card back and it will go in one direction.... down!!!!!One very unhappy customer.....

Our most recent visit was as a group of ten last Saturday evening. The new addition of a special's board was welcome - I chose scallops which were very good. The homemade chicken liver and pistachio pate served with the restaurant's own apricot and rosemary chutney and toasted breads was also a good choice as a starter.I really hope that The new look Queen's proves to be a real success and if they carry on serving up meals like the one's I've experienced then they'll fully deserve it!

We ate here last week for a family celebration. Absolutely loved the place, pleasant staff, but so disappointed with the food. With one exception all starters were just OK. Main courses: Salmon was a very small portion sitting on top of overcooked mushy oil soaked veg. Prawn and calamari linguine came with just 3 small prawns and disappointing sauce. Even the pizza was nothing special. We didn't complain as we were being treated and it would have been rude. Will return as loved the ambience but will leave it a while and hopefully there will be an improvement. Have spoken to others who have also been recently and they too were disappointed. PS when the person who treated us checked the bill later, we were charged for one item that we never had, and were charged for extra bread which we never ordered!

So I will say this " give them a chance to correct the small faults and DO go back and try them again." In this day and age we are all too quick to criticise. I sincerely hope they are successful. My wife and I have seen this former public house in the village change hands with monotonous regularity over the past few years and have often commented on the fact that it is a lovely building which would make a perfect place for a restaurant. It has now become exactly that which is a bold and refreshing development - an Italian restaurant with a locals bar which has been refurbished to an excellent standard. We. decided to try out the food tonight, having popped in a couple of times previously for a beer. Have to say though the two real ales on draught were too warm and still are a week or so on. This needs looking into, especially when a locals loyalty card can be used here!! The staff are enthusiastic and friendly, and eager to please. We each tried a different starter which were well presented and tasty. I ordered a pizza which was freshly made and piping hot and full of flavour. My wife ordered linguine with calamari and prawns in a chili cream sauce - unfortunately the dish lacked seasoning.Aiden the restaurant manager asked us for feedback on the meals and seemed genuinely interested in our comments. It was a real treat to be able to have an alternative place to eat and drink in a nice laid back atmosphere in Tamerton - we will be back and wish all concerned in this new venture the best of luck - come on Tamerton folk - use it or lose it!!

Only came in briefly and it's obviously a very new venture. We had a quick snack that was OK but uninspiring. Not enough to warrant the journey all the way out here. It looks as if they realise that because they are pushing a locals loyalty card with deals. We have mates out here so we may give it time to bed in and perhaps come in one evening as a group. Needs photos and they ought to get some kind of website going to show the menu deals etc. The old one is defunct.

We were due to go for lunch with friends to the ship at Elburton, but they cancelled so we decided to stay local and try the Queens. We had a letter through saying it had be refurbished and was new management. Firstly the good points. The refurbishment of the pub is very good, inside and outside. It's clean, with plenty of staff. Ok now the bad points. The food took thirty minutes to arrive. It was not very busy with only three other tables being served. Once the food did arrive my wife had to send her Yorkshire pudding back as it was burnt to a crisp. No green vegetables with a roast, when I asked a member of staff why this was I was told the chef ordered the food! The roast its self was very average. However I had to wait to put my gravy on as the little pot it came in had no handle and had been microwaved to death. Once we had finished we decided to sit outside. The waiter said he would come out and ask us if we would like coffee or dessert. Waited another twenty minutes but still no service. Having lived in the area most of my life I know this could be a great food pub if done right. I know it's early day as it has just reopened but they have to get it right from the start

We just had a fantastic breakfast at The Hyde Park. Everything was piping hot, cooked to perfection, presented well and served promptly. We have been going to The Hyde Park for many years now, and despite numerous other establishments popping up in the vicinity, nothing is as good as a Hyde Park meal. I would also like to point out that Ryan (the manager), is totally customer focused, and will do everything in his power to ensure that customer’s expectations are met. Thank you Ryan.
