The Hyde Park Pub in Plymouth

We just had a fantastic breakfast at The Hyde Park. Everything was piping hot, cooked to perfection, presented well and served promptly. We have been going to The Hyde Park for many years now, and despite numerous other establishments popping up in the vicinity, nothing is as good as a Hyde Park meal. I would also like to point out that Ryan (the manager), is totally customer focused, and will do everything in his power to ensure that customer’s expectations are met. Thank you Ryan.

Had Sunday lunch here in a group. Really good pub grub and range on the menu for all taste. Good portions, served by polite staff. Not too pricey. Big table seating 12-14 was really convivial. Interesting building and great decor. Must be fun on a Saturday night out

Our first visit to celebrate an 18th birthday, as a party of 12! We received delicious food and good, friendly customer service.

Sunday Lunch was good, lots to eat, good atmosphere, friendly staff team. Lots to look at around the walls from yester-year.

Could spend hours just walking around this place but sat down ate and had a couple of beers instead

Usually happy with food, however not yesterday, my husband had crab sandwich hardly any crab all salad very overpriced for what he had, I had steak chabbata again tiniest piece of steak, very overpriced for what I had

Food has always been good, staff always friendly

Went to the Hyde Park for a Cream tea there was 10 of us and got to say they done us proud. All the staff was lovely and helpful. Kevin who served us with our cream tea was so lovely and couldn't do enough for us and continually asking if we was ok and needed anything. Such a good asset to the management. But all the staff was lovely. Great atmosphere and highly recommend anyone to go there for a cream tea they will do you proud. Big thanks to u all at the Hyde Park xx

A great looking pub inside and out. Lots of outdoor seating. The afternoon tea was superb.

Great, in my opinion the best pub I have visited in the UK so far. Good food, nice service, iconic ambience. I could become a regular if I lived nearby...

Love this place, great food, good price and lovely surroundings.

We came here for a midweek bite to eat as we have done many times before but unfortunately this time our food was not quite up to the normal standard. Upon letting one of the staff know we were unhappy, they were straight on it to try and rectify the situation - lovely customer service. We will be returning as this is usually a lovely place to eat and drink, always with great service.

It was busy so staff weren't so caring

Great place, cozy vibe. As a disabled woman it was a strange experience entering through the men's toilets! Sad there's no accessible toilet either.

Went for lunch with a friend, food was great, had the duck spring rolls and meat feast flatbread pizza. Loads of toppings. Great outdoor space.

Food is decent but service is fairly poor

What a place, never been before today waiting to pick mates up!! Had a snack they say, more like amain meal, lovely.. I spotted the afternoon tea, defoe going for that next week, right up Mt street, I can't say how good this place is good, only trouble is I have do 40 mile round trip, but worth it 😀 👍

The main was nice but the dessert tastes like pure salt which is strange as it’s a dessert.

I am an occasional visitor to the Hyde Park It is a large pub with some outside seating located on the roundabout at the North end of Mutley Plain. A good atmosphere helped by a good mix of clientele and decoration helps the ambience. The only downside on this visit is that neither the Tribute or Jail Ale beers tasted quite right on this visit, but a one off, as I can't remember having this problem before.

Feels transient and impersonal at times. Beer has improved and food looks tasty. Well worth a visit and sample the dynamics

Pub based in the middle of road intersection at the top of Murley Plain, so slightly hairy to get to, but once you're in, it's like a little haven! Hmmmm Cold River Cider - top notch! Very well stocked bar, lots of choice. Still not gone to the gin bar upstairs. Have now eaten here - Sunday lunch was superb, a huge plate, the roasted veg cooked really well, the green veg just right (ie not over cooked). The menu is great, quite extensive, something for everybody. The decor is fantastic - a lot of pub stuff but also names, lit signs and decor from movies, cigarette adverts, cars etc that totally cover the walls. Such a great place to hang out! Good food menu too, although we didnt eat here, but I will be back. Love the beer mats all over the ceiling!

Me and my husband went here for the first time last night. We had a great time. The service was exceptional, very quick (even for a busy Saturday evening) and the staff were all smiley and friendly. A blonde waitress in particular who was very friendly shone. She was happy chatting to customers whilst she cleared tables, which I thought was great customer service. She saw us taking a selfie and offered to take them for us so we have some nice photos to remember our anniversary now :) There was a helpful waiter who served our food as well, who again was super friendly and made sure we had everything to enjoy our meal with. The food was delicious, there was so much on the menu to choose from and we were so happy with our choices. (Great vegan and veggie options too!!) I need a sentence to big up the chips too....I don't know the secrets behind them but they were the best chips I've had in a long time! Super thick and crispy and delicious, no other chip will compare now haha! Overall, really nice friendly atmosphere. I loved the decor. Delicious food which was served super quickly. We'll be back again :)

Nice atmosphere. Quite expensive!!

A fantastically quirky pub with lots of memorabilia to look at and a good selection of ales. The bathroom had upwards of 14 types of hand soap! The cream tea is very good value for the option to upgrade to 3 glasses of fizz/gin so a nice place to whittle away an afternoon with mates. Very sweet staff.

The food is amazing here whenever I go. The pizzas and toast are lovely and reasonably priced

Visited 22/03. Lovely looking pub, great atmosphere, amazing selection, reasonable prices and very friendly staff. I really wanted to enjoy my visit but there was a big problem. The draught lines were not clean. Started off with a Korev which tasted really off, overly yeasty with a bit of acidity. Put it down to a bad barrel and got a Madri, exactly the same taste ruining the beer. Then tried a Heineken as a last-ditch attempt but still the same taste. A few other people I spoke to that night reported noticing the same thing with their pints. Asked a member of the bar staff when the lines were last cleaned but they had no idea. Again a massive shame as it ruined the evening a bit despite everything else being lovely. Please if anyone reads this feedback clean your lines properly before you make someone ill.

Quirky olde world pub with a good beer selection.

Excellent all round and full of character with great beer, food and atmosphere. Will visit again. To see Double Diamond again was unexpected!🙂

A great pub. Full of character and unique. My first visit on 16 March. Will be back again very soon. Great selection of beers and great food. The place was buzzing on a Saturday afternoon. Mutley is lucky to have this gem, and good to see a thriving city pub that has stood the test of time.

Wonderful pub, very good beer, really interesting curios on the walls, ceiling and pretty much everywhere else. Very friendly atmosphere. Friendly staff. We went on a Friday night, and it was heaving, so we could not get a seat, but it took no time to be served at the bar. We didn't eat, so we can't comment on the food. I strongly recommend coming here if you like pubs.

Hated this place, has to be the worst pub in Plymouth. Staff are arrogant and rude, telling me how to dress.

Great place for a family meal..

Went there for lunch took 50 minutes for our food to coke when it wasn’t too busy and when food did come out the batter for the tempura prawns was a tad mushy and duck spring rolls just tasted fatty and the bruschetta is really just some ciabatta with salsa spread onto it which is disappointing

Hired the upstairs room for a family gathering. It was perfect, nice size, food was lovely & staff lovely & helpful. Would happily recommend the Hyde Park.

Spent New Years Eve. Had a lovely meal and a good bottle of Wine. Disappointing to have to ask for at least TV to go on for count down to New Year. .

Brilliant service. Timely, professional, friendly, thoughtful staff and such excellent food on top!

Still 5 Stars but it's like going back in time I have never seen so many old things ie Furniture nothing is new. And somebody put £500 behind the bar so only bought 2 drinks.

Went close to Christmas. Place was very full might even say crowded. My order, pie, mash and peas, became a problem about an hour or so later when I started feeling ill and was ill a bit later. I was only one of the party of seven to be ill, so it wasn't all bad. But I would be cautious about eating there again.

I’m so lucky to have this as my local. It is everything you want in a pub - warm, welcoming and great atmosphere. There are a wide variety of drinks, a wide variety of food. The food is always tasty and beautifully presented. The decor is unusual, quirky and visually stimulating - lots of retro ad- signs 🙂 Whenever friends or family visit, this is always one of the places I visit - highly recommended.

it's an interesting olde world pub,, in the heart of student land but with a good mix of people. Great selection of spirits, and they have double diamond ale a proper blast from the past which is brewed in house, but though drinkable, isn't the real deal. Service is variable, theyxseme to have a lot of staff with varying social skills across the spectrum from excellent to disinterested. Dog friendly, as has been mentioned, a massive array of memorabilia.. Also, food now tried cold fried eggs, tried hard to find a salt shaker the one taht i did find is caked. They don't care that much about the presentation, but it is passable. Shame.the managers have got such a stick up their hole, kind of ruins it a hit.

Back on its game, this place fell away for a while but last night we had a family meal and the food was fab, great pub grub. The pies are the best I’ve tasted for ages, great service and staff also

Went for a Christmas meal organised by my workplace and was wonderful. We had the space upstairs for us, food was lovely, catered for food intolerances and vegan options were really nice. Staff was helpful and very professional, all in all 100% recommend.

First visit for lunch with the girls. Lovely food with generous portions. Very friendly staff with good service. No rushing you after you've finished. Very nice.

It was my first visit yesterday and I went with a friend. We had a Traditional Sunday Roast, a few drinks and pudding of course 😁 The food was plentiful and delicious. The staff were welcoming and attentive throughout our visit. The pub has a lovely warm atmosphere. Thank you all for a lovely afternoon

Was at a 70th birthday party food was outstanding staff nothing to much trouble

Take a trip back to the 60s & 70s loads of brewriana adorn the walls nooks and cranies. The atmosphere is relaxed and the food is good pub grub. The service was excellent and the staff friendly. Worth a visit even if just for a beer.

It’s a great place for a drink and a watch of the 1970s adverts. I usually have a Double Diamond in order to taste the 1970s. Unfortunately, tonight I had a DD and it wasn’t the same as usual, a lot darker. Didn’t like. I spoke to the barman but he wasn’t interested. I will go back but please change the recipe back to the original one, if indeed you changed recipe.

Expensive. £4.95 for a pint of ale that was on the turn.

Had an gin afternoon cream tea with group of friends. Would recommend.

Loved it. The decor is exceptional 👌 when I visit the UK again I will for sure stop by again.

Iconic place, it's a must see if you are in Plymouth. Good food, nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Free parking just around the corner when you drive towards Mannamead. Highly recommended.

Delicious food, restaurant was busy and all our party received their meals in a random order but it was all beautifully presented and very lovely

Gave food 4* but only because i didn't eat probably a 5. Saw others that did have chicken and chips and it looked good. Quite small building but good atmosphere, nice beer garden if weather is ok. Reasonable choice of drinks but shots not allowed.

The Hyde Park is a firm favourite. All the staff go above and beyond for you and make you feel so welcome. Ryan, Ashleigh, Kate and Lily and the whole team are fantastic

The food is always lovely, good drink selection, friendly staff and great atmosphere. The only downside, for me, is that, many times, the food takes ages to arrive and they can forget sauces... such as peppercorn sauce. Regardless, it's definitely worth a visit.

"Doesn't allow fancy dress". Clearly a pub that is doing so well it doesn't need the extra business... From a well mannered stag group.

This is a pub everyone should visit. Popped into this pub whilst in Plymouth for the weekend. What an absolute cracking pub myself, my partner, and family were in ore of all the memorabilia on display it was all we could chat about. Didn’t have a meal but we plan to when we are next down in Plymouth, the food that we saw being served looked good.Staff were very friendly too 👍

i am really disappointed with our trip to hyde park. i’m sorry to say the roast was disgusting, at £15 per person i wasn’t expecting my roast to be covered in water (gravy) and have tasteless boiled veg and gross potatoes. nobody asked us how the meal was so we just left feeling dissatisfied. i really wouldn’t go here if you are wanting a roast. i think a lot of work needs to be done on making this roast dinner edible. really upset at the waste of money today

Held my husbands 70th birthday in the gin bar . Biggest thanks to all staff involved for their hard work and to the chef for the absolutely amazing buffet. Highly recommend

Great place, lovely atmosphere.

The expensive prices keeps the Spoons crowd away. Decent choice of ales, lagers, and gins. Nice outside seating and inside too for when the sun goes down. Food is OK but nothing special for the money.

The pub that you don't want to get so hammered that you stumble out of... Its in the middle of a roundabout so you have to navigate across the busy road to get there and get back home. But this place is an absolute gem. It's just full of stuff. Signs, trinkets objects all over the place. It's a really different and cozy place with a nice beer garden outside. An absolutely staggering amount of drink choices. Beers ciders wine whiskey.... You name it and they probably have it. So so much to choose from in this place. Great atmosphere. Good food. You can't go wrong with visiting this different and interesting pub at mutley. If you want to go to a great pub, this one and the Fortescue are my two favourite pubs on mutley.

Lovely gin afternoon tea. We had the premium so got to taste 3 different gins. Staff were very welcoming.

We go to Hyde Park regularly very disappointed yesterday Monday 29th May we booked a table for six it did not have reserved on the table we requested. The food was not up to scratch. The curry was dry and look like a childs portion. The steak pie had one piece of meat in it and only five chips on plate . The veggie burger looked so lonely on the plate as that only had a few chips nothing else . Other choices people wanted on our table were unavailable very dissappointed as it was my birthday .

I had a stilton and beef pie which was beautifully presented, delicious and great value for money. Food was served within a reasonable time of ordering. The staff were lovely as always.

I wasn't expecting very much with the roast as i know its pub and the prices are fair HOWEVER it was horrendous, it seriously lacked any seasoning, very very very cheaply made. Better off getting something other than the roast- i was actually embarrassed for them
