So I went here for a work as part of an away day, we also went to Prodigy Escapes round the corner. Great day out! The team were amazing from the beginning. Booked about a month in advance. Pre-ordered all our food and drink. The food delivery was SLICK coming out no returns! No problems. Absolutely outstanding food quality and drinks for everyone had an amazing time and it's a fantastic location and calm and relaxed inside. Will be coming back. I had the Vegan breakfast OMG! EASILY the best vegan breakfast in Exeter annoyingly better than my own. Everyone said the bread was incredible. Catered and went above and beyond for someone in our group who is coeliac who also had a great time. Thank you!

I just moved around the corner from this cafe and it's been a lifesaver. Always felt so welcomed. I was looking for a place that I could have a quick, affordable lunch while catching up on uni work and this is the place to do it. I especially love that it's a family run business and it really feels they've put love into what they do. My favourite dish is the Polsloe Plate. I also love that they have freshly baked cakes that change weekly!

Me and my friend came in to study, with one of us buying a coffee. The cafe was almost empty during the afternoon but we were bluntly asked to leave because one of us wasn’t buying a drink. This would be understandable during peak times where there may be long queues for a table or even just a drink. Because of this poor service it is likely we will not be returning. Not the place for students to study!

Came here as a group of 4 just before the November lockdown and had a lovely time. The menu was reduced but still had a good variety of dishes to please everyone and the presentation was amazing! The little things really made the difference here, such a cute place and really yummy plate of food. Prices are what they are for brunch these days, we thought it was fair for what you get :) will definitely come back when we can!

I've been to this café before for brunch and loved it so went with friends on Saturday and it was just as wonderful! I think it is great value for money, the food is lovely and the portions are perfect. No 1 Polsloe is no more expensive than any other place I've been to in Exeter (I'd actually say it was near the lower end honestly). Staff were very friendly and helpful. I'd highly recommend this place to anyone looking for some tasty food and wanting to support an independent business!

Went for brunch here as we'd heard good reviews. It was very overpriced for what it was - £8.50 for one slice of toast with smashed avocado and teeny tiny poached eggs. Eggs were cold. I left feeling hungry. Staff weren't welcoming or friendly. Nice atmosphere and decor in the cafe itself but extremely overpriced for what it was.

Interesting restaurant! We went here with our grandson who is at Exeter Uni. The clientele seemed to be mainly students. There were not many tables so you might end up sitting on the same table as other customers but this didn’t bother us. The food and service was excellent and would thoroughly recommend.

My girlfriend had been wanting to take me to this cafe for ages. We had tried previously but it was too busy to get in, but it is well worth the wait! We were about to leave as it didn't look like we were going to get a seat, until on table excitedly knocked on the window to say we could take their table, with a look on their faces which said: "you have to try this place!". We got in and ordered a coffee and tea (the coffee was especially lush!) and took in the ambience of the place including the brick wall, the range of foliage dotted about and the choice of art hanging around the place. Being a designer myself I felt truly inspired being in there and would absolutely love to take myself in there to work. And that's before the food came out! I have lived in Exeter my whole life, and never before have I had a Full English Breakfast like this before! It was by far the best I have had (not including my Nan's... sorry, I'm biased) and would absolutely recommend, especially as it doesn't break the bank. Overall it was a really nice experience and is certainly one of the (very) hidden treasures of Exeter, which makes it all the more special. Thanks again No. 1 Polsloe, I'll be in again soon! S

No 1 Polsloe has always had a font place in my heart, having been there many times while at uni. Every time I come quality is outstanding.Eggs are cooked to perfection, mushrooms are to die for, and the sausages are just something else. The milkshakes are also very reasonably priced at 3 pounds and a far better the ones you get from chains charging double that.Even though it is a bit excessive I always treat myself to pancakes as well.

This is a lovely little cafe who run a shared table policy, they need to, as always packed! They staff are always very friendly and smiley. They do great vegan/vege and meat based breakfasts. Unfortunately and unusually, today four of us had over cooked patched eggs, that must have been cooked with too much vinegar as that was the over-riding taste., but the rest of my (vege) breakfast was great and 2 friends enjoyed theirs full English breakfasts. They do great coffee and a range of teas.

We arrived for lunch and were told that of the newly shortened menu they only had pancakes (not what we wanted) and only 2 juices available. For a restaurant that serves all day breakfast and brunch it seemed odd that they had run out of food by 1pm. My friend ordered a milkshake which said it was made with ice cream, however when it arrived it was very watery and appeared to be made with milk, and the banana flavour was very weak. We then waited a very long time for our average pancakes to arrive. Has great potential but we were let down.

While there isn’t a huge choice on the menu, the food here is simple, delicious, and it’s great for brunch. I love the decor too - it’s such a cute place to sit, chat and eat. One thing I will say is that it’s very small, so is almost always full or almost full. Get there early to avoid disappointment, or make a booking on weekdays!

The menu has recently been shortened, which is fine I understand it's difficult to have a diverse menu for a small cafe. However what I dont understand is having to wait over an hour for a milkshake, a cup of tea and a bacon sandwich. It was not even that busy, there were three other tables. Good food when it came but a tad expensive and very very slow

I visited No1 Polsloe this morning at 11am with my pooch and friend. We were warmly welcomed by a young lady who gave us the run down..e.g find a seat, order at the bar, simple! We found a cosy little spot by the window, had a browse through the mouth watering menu. While my friend and I were getting rather confuffled about what to order (I wanted everything) the waitress bought a little bowl of water over for my pup without me even asking. Bailey (my dog) has now made a new best friend. Anyway we finally decided what we wanted to eat and made our way up to the bar to order. The chef in the kitchen who was busily tossing mushrooms in the frying pan waved and smiled as we approached the bar to order from another very smiley and welcoming waitress. After ordering we sat back down and had a good old catch up, the atmosphere in the cafe is so relaxed I almost forgot I wasn't at home! Our meals quickly came out and just as quickly were gobbled up, much to Baileys disappointment my sausages were far to good to share! My friends Eggs Royale looked to die for! The poached eggs were perfectly cooked, we both agreed a good poached egg is hard to come across these days while eating out! To sum it up No1 Polsloe is in my opinion the best cafe in exeter, independently run (which really shows compared to the chain run cafes in exerer) great interior, amazing breakfasts, brilliant value for money, Dog friendly, smashing coffee, relaxed friendly atmosphere, and last but not least lovely staff. Just all round fantastic! Thank you No1 Polsloe for a perfect Sunday Morning!

Small but perfect! I've been going regularly now for a while and they always look after me exceptionally well... they know I like my scrambled eggs moist and my coffee (best decaff flat white in Exeter) in a certain cup and they even bought chilli jam when I mentioned I like it with scrambled eggs! They are always friendly, the food is gorgeous and it has a quirky vibe that I love.It can get quite busy at the weekends and there can be a bit of a wait if they have lots of orders all at once - but worth the wait. They are fully booked with private parties for weekend evenings now until the new year but over the summer I went for an evening meal and drinks and it was very ambient and romantic. Highly recommend!

Met a friend here as she'd been recommended by another friend, I parked in the 'triangle' car park and had a pleasant walk through the park to get there so the location was fine for me despite being a bit worried about getting there before. We had Nutella milkshakes, coffee, bacon pancakes and eggs royale all delicious, hot and well cooked, and there was a lot more on the menu I wanted to try - so I'll definitely be coming back with my partner in the near future :) Loved the decor as well, and although the view from the window isn't exactly picturesque it's good for 'people watching' and feeling cosy on a wet and windy day. Bit confused by the one star reviews from new tripadvisor members, but I think No.1 Polsloe will get on just fine with local word of mouth recommendations anyway. :)

Popped in here today after discovering it on Instagram, looked nice but busy upon arrival! Ordered 2 coffees and 2 breakfasts, we were told a 30 min wait on food which we were initially ok with. However that soon turned out to be incorrect and it was closer to an hour and a half before we even got our drinks! Then even later before we ate! We arrived at 1030 and time we had "breakfast" it was almost 1pm! Don't think I have been anywhere so painfully slow! Food was good, but the wait over shadowed that, shame as I would be in there regularly if this wasn't the case!

We arrived soon after it had opened on a Saturday morning. Yes, the very small café was full within minutes, but after breakfast and drinks order, we had to wait a good 30 minutes for our drinks to arrive. Food took considerably longer. I have never been somewhere for breakfast and still been waiting to pay after a full hour! For this place to be so high, I would expect better service. Foodwise, it doesn't beat many places which offer breakfast for far less. A big let down in my eyes.

Excellent food and coffee. However, we had to wait for over an hour to get our food - we arrived at 10am (the time it opens) and we were there before the staff. 4 people were in front of us to order and yet we still waited for over an hour. Scrambled egg and smoked salmon on toast does not take that long to prepare! Our coffees took 40 minutes to arrive. Customer service was terrible and no apology for the delay on food or drinks.I won't be going back here in a hurry. I'll search on trip advisor for the nearest place and this hidden gem appeared, i'd not been before as fairly new to working in this area and the reviews looked great so off I went.. I ordered a breakfast to take out off of their most impressive and extensive brunch menu and it was cooked in a time suited to myself to go back and collect (as I only worked just down the road). I must say the place looked quaint and was quite busy. I picked my breakfast up and had a tea aswell and it was cooked to perfection. I'd highly recommended this place to anyone. After a brilliant night with friends we went for kareoke to continue having fun. Unfortunately the bar man was so rude to me I had to leave when I asked if he could put a song on with his answer being it is my pub don’t tell me what to do. I went back to say to him you made me feel horrible when you spoke to me like that his answer was tough. He ensured my night ended on low I do not spend my money to be spoken to like that awful way for bar staff to speak to people obviously do not care about customers I will not return.
