There are numerous cafes in the area, and this is easily the worst we have been to. It is expensive the service poor, and not friendly, and the food was poor. We will not be back, lots of much better places near by

Decided to stop here as it was halfway between home and our destination in Devon. Turned out to be a great choice, breakfast was delicious obviously made from quality ingredients. The staff were very friendly and spoilt our young dog. Prices were reasonable and we even took a couple of cakes for later. Will visit again next time we pass this way.

I usually really like it here and have visited a few times. Unfortunately at my most recent visit, after clearly specifying that I was vegan, I was served non-vegan coleslaw and potato salad. I only realised afterwards so rung the cafe to clarify, they were apologetic but made lots of excuses and didn’t offer a refund or voucher etc.

Stayed at nearby Westport Farm Cottages for a holiday recently and the “Kitchen” was highly recommended to us by the owners and others. We ended up visiting three times and had great food on each occasion. My wife has limited mobility and is coeliac and both were well catered for. There is disabled parking immediately in front of the restaurant and there are many gluten free options; in addition we found the staff to be very helpful regarding dietary requirements

A friend and I regularly visit Kitchen for our lunch catch-up meetings and there's always a buzz and a good energy here. There is a good variety of meals to chose from, and there's plenty of choice for non-carnivores. The serving staff are cheery and polite and we've always had good service, so it's a favourite place to visit. It's a dog-friendly place, which is super, unless you get a barker, which happened once, but that's been the only negative, and that was mostly the owner of the dog not being considerate of others.

Called at this place yesterday for coffee and cake waiter at least 10 minutes to be shown to a table ,we gave the waitress or order then waited and waited after 20 minutes another waitress came up to retake our order because the first one had been lost, waited another 10 minutes then a different waitress came to take our order again (3rd time ) we said this is the third time you've taken our order to which she replied "Do you want it or are you going " I was stunned at this reply then she followed on by saying "We have been very busy today " I said the place is virtually empty ( Less than 10% capacity ) and you have so many staff here " What is the problem. I have never had such bad service or been spoken to in this manner anywhere before .The whole place is an untidy shambles cutlery on the floor in the doorway and left, the owners need to do a secret visit here and sort it out quickly.

The atmosphere is very, dog friendly, coffee good all round very good, the only thing was they charge for any extras ie cream for the dessert that I’d asked if it did come with cream and was told yes so I said good but then was charged a extra 50p for it, not good public retaliations I thought, I suggest they add it onto the price or make sure they say it’s a extra cost for politeness if nothing else

Each to their own... some love this place and others don’t. Facts: -lovely decor and atmosphere -superb views and location -it is pricey -service is inconsistent -bacon sandwiches are not great We went for lunch as a large party for my mothers birthday and Kitchen was the best closest option to our days activities. Being a large party we ordered together. There was a mix up initially with the drinks and then with the food but dealt with. One drink never came so we didn’t bother with it in the end. Food was good in general except the bacon sandwich which was dry and tasteless. Pulled pork bap could have done with some chips or crisp with it. Burgers were the best order and I would recommend these out of everything. Coffees were good and I liked the separate station for drinks. If I went again I would go for a coffee and cake. Loved the outdoor seating and location as well as the atmosphere and style of the establishment. P.s. don’t get confused with Kitchen bakery which is by the main car park otherwise you’ll have a walk to the bridge.

I love Kitchen! The space, the food and the people. They are always happy to see you (and your dog!) And, unlike a previous comment, I love the fact they have a limited menu, because its all cooked freshly for you - and doesn't come via the freezer and a ping of the microwave Keep on doing what you're doing Kitchen! Well worth a visit.

Visited Kitchen for the first time today with three cycling friends, Not a pleasant experience for me but my friends food & drinks were fine i must add. I ordered a toasted bacon sandwich & a flat white coffee @ a cost of £9.00. My coffee arrived shortly after my friends drinks & food but after a fairly long wait i went searching for my sandwich which one of the staff found on the Pass. When i got back to our table my coffee was now cold & i found my sandwich was also cold & tasted a little greasy. The sandwich only had two thin slices of cold bacon. I felt the whole experience a rip off @ £9.00.

Stopped off for breakfast after long journey, Looking forward to being fed at our chosen spot. Always happy to wait for freshly cooked food. However, on this occasion the food was dreadful. Bacon like shoe leather, sausages slimy, eggs probably cooked during the Crimean war and the coffee basically gritty and horrible. The toast was ok, although cold. People, this is not a cheap place and left feeling very disgruntled having spent nearly £30 on a load of badly cooked tat. This place rests on its laurels. Captures desperate cyclists who are starving and hungry people who need basic sustenance. On return trip, elected to go to Tesco for a soggy sandwich and bottle of water rather than experiencing this overpriced cynical rubbish. Nasty, true. But £5 rather than £30 and didn't feel we were taken for a ride. Avoid this place until they learn to cook and stop rooking tired people

Whilst enjoying my vegetarian breakfast, I had the fortune of being offered samples of new recipes by Adam, the innovative and friendly chef. I've posted a review praising Kitchen before and this is another example of the great service here. How many other places would give you the opportunity of trying out menus as they are being developed and value your feedback? I sampled the beetroot burger packed with seeds and quinoa, the sweet potato mash and pasta-free lasagne. I'm vegetarian but my friend who is an avid meat eater couldn't believe how tasty these vegetarian options are. I just hope these delicious items get on to Kitchen's menu. Well done Adam and thanks to all the staff for their great, smiling service!

Been here before and enjoyed it. I knew there were disabled parking spaces, which we need. They were both full, so i asked if OK to park on the road. the owner told me it wasn't as neighbours don't like it, but I parked anyway. The fun began when a little chap hollered at me from his car, telling me to move. After some heated words on his part, not mine, i walked away. He followed me into the cafe shouting and jabbing his finger at me, and ranting at the owner. I recall he called me a "confrontational ignoramus" amongst other stuff. We went elsewhere leaving this unfortunate scene. Now of course this isn't the fault of the cafe, but keep it in mind, especially if disabled, if you want to avoid a distressing experience with the village idiot

Great food, lovely space, reasonably priced but awful management. I just tried to book a table for four and was told I couldn’t book unless I had a booking for eight or more. Unbelievable, absolutely no flexibility. Suddenly the place feels more like a motorway cafe with disinterested staff with management obsessed with high turnover. I feel that the management has a low regard for it’s customers and it’s staff. There is often a feeling of bewilderment about the place. Has this table been served yet? Is it counter service? - or will you come to my table.? Have you been served yet, Sir? Then you have to pay at the till not the table... Such a shame, management - sort yourselves out and show a little more imagination and curtesy please. You have great staff, a great space and great food - you need to treat people as individuals - not numbers in a spreadsheet.

As it was a lovely day we bought ourselves a picnic from the bakery associated with the restaurant situated about 100 metres away by a car park and took it to eat on a seat by the river. The food was excellent. In particular the vegetarian "sausage" rolls were the best of their type we have had. They also do slices of pizza type focaccia, meat rolls flapjacks and of course artisan bread. Very friendly staff and good prices.

A fabulous location & I love the quirky nature of this place. But (and the previous owners couldn't get this quite right either), there always seems to be lots of staff milling around & only one person making drinks... Resulting in a 12 minute wait for two coffees & pieces of cake, both of which were absolutely fine when they arrived. Can never work this place out, is it a coffee shop (order at the counter, wait for your drinks) or a cafe (order at the counter then table service) or a restaurant (be seated then table service), we always seem to have a mixture of all three. But.... we didn't appreciate being told by a passing member of staff, "are you still waiting for drinks? Bear with us, she's doing her best it's really busy". This is true, it was, but why they didn't then have some one else supporting her by getting cake / other drinks?? Sorry! Fab location, lovely cake will remind myself to go when it's not busy or when as a cyclist I'm part of a big group.

The proper meals at the riverside cafe might be great or terrible but my review only covers my stops for tea and cake over the last two and a half years. At the start they were exceptionally good but had been in decline prior to Kitchens taking over the cafe. Since Kitchens took over all the cakes seem to be over-sweet. Today the least sweet option was the cinnamon cake and that was OK - but still much too sweet. It is a shame, as the location by the river is great, the staff are friendly and the old building full of character. I just wish there were cake options that weren't excessively sweet.

I have heard excellent reviews about "Kitchen at the wharf", the recently opened café, also owned/run by "Kitchen", so a friend who recommended it took myself, and another friend there, for lunch today. WOW! You receive a lovely welcome when walking in, all the staff are friendly. It is in a lovely location, by the bank of the River Parrett. I noticed there are also tables and chair outside the glass doors, but it was not quite warm enough to have the French doors open toady. There was sufficient choice, and daily specials. It is nice that it is Waiter service so you can take your time to decide, before they come to your table to take your order. The building itself is lovely too, with brick walls, old wooden floor boards and wooden beams into the 'A' frame ceiling. Prices are reasonable. I'm already looking forward to going back!

Not a large menu and some very pretentious selections - the food, whilst good and nicely presented, appears to be pre prepared in the main and no variations seemed to be available - one of our group asked for the Cheese sandwich to be cheddar only but it still came as on the menu with three cheeses. Only white or granary bread offered with the soup, having broken a tooth on granary bread some time back I tend to avoid it and the white bread was bland. Wholemeal or similar can't be that hard or expensive to offer

Me and my family were at a table having a laugh and a drunk she come over and told us to shutup we were being to loud the juke box was louder than us we could hardly hear our conversations. I mentioned it to someone who was working behind the bar & a few of them said she's always rude to people and to them.. Not the sort of person to run a pub if you ask me sorry!

After such a lovely Christmas meal here in 2023 we decided to return again for 2024. We pre ordered our food using the Christmas menu from their website advertised at £28 for 2 courses. I ordered the fish crumble which was absolutely awful and inedible! It was basically a dish full of bread crumbs, I left very disappointed, if the meal wasn't bad enough we were told when paying that the cost of the meal had gone up to £32 for 2 courses! Despite mentioning that a) my fish crumble was inedible and b) the price they were charging was different than advertised - no offer of a discount was given. Usually we leave this pub very happy with full bellies but it wasn't to be on this occasion. My advice is - don't order the fish crumble from thr Christmas menu !
