Nice local pub, with a friendly atmosphere. Pub very clean and easily accessible. Jodie/Tracey hit the spot with a lovely Sunday Lunch presented beautifully……great hospitality. Enjoyed chilling over a pint of Guinness and a few baby Guinness chasers.

I came to meet some friends for some drinks and thought it wise to leave my car in the car park rather than drive home after a few drinks. I came back to my car with a note threatening me to be clamped if I leave my car there again. Well no chance of that as I will not be spending my money in this s hole. What a way to promote drink driving and repeat business. Out of business by Christmas on that basis

My friends and I visited Skipper's after hearing about their lovely Caribbean food from a colleague. Booking was odd, sounded like the restaurant would be full from the phone call, but it wasn't. There was room on the car park for both our cars upon entry. The bar area was packed with a large group of workers, so getting a drink was hard work with one member of staff (owner I believe) doing all the drinks/food/phone calls. We were unsure how to order food (bar/table etc), so went to the bar to order. No table number on ours, so that was confusing. As others have said, the place was freezing due to the door being open. Turns out you can just shut it... simple. The food was bang on, everyone enjoyed their meals and drinks. They even gave our dog a treat to eat while we had our food! With some polishing - more staff, a menu online (even a photo on FB would suffice), a clearer way of ordering, front door on an auto closer - this would be a really good eatery. I will be back, especially on 'wings Wednesday'!

We called in at Skippers for lunch not realising that the pub had recently changed hands and no longer the Teddy Rowe! We were welcomed and told to take a table anywhere. The menu is the usual mix of light meals and snacks but a dish on the main menu caught my eye. I chose sea bass served with pea and black pudding risotto and it was excellent. Fish was beautifully cooked with a crispy skin and very tasty with the yummy risotto. My friend chose scampi and chips which she enjoyed too.We 've since learnt that their new chef was based in Cornwall and fresh fish will be a feature of their menu. Cant wait!

The food does the talking here, I had one of the best steaks I have ever eaten here. The staff behind the bar were very friendly and welcoming and the chef turned out some great food at reasonable prices. I would say this is now one of the most up and coming places to eat in Sherborne. Forget the previous landlords, go back and taste the food and make your own opinion. Apparently the Sunday lunch is great too, so will be back very soon. The chef does his own butchery so you know you are going to get a great cut of meat. The menu is small and concise, meaning that all of the dishes are well thought out and of great quality. Hopefully this will be a well supported pub so we don’t loose it !!!

Went yesterday, 24th Feb 2019 with my partner. The Sunday roast was excellent. My partner had the roast pork, which she commented on as being really tasty. I had the roast beef, which was melt in the mouth tender, nicely pink in the middle. The veg was all perfectly cooked and proper Yorkshire pud and home-made gravy. The house wine, Chardonnay with the pork and Shiraz for me perfectly complemented our meal.

It is great to see that Skippers has risen again! This always was a great pub back along and now it has sprung back into life. We were enticed in by the sign that said "Sunday Roast". Good to meet new Mine Hosts, Hannah and Lee, and their friendly staff. Lovely open fire and three real beers to choose from along with a good choice of ciders and lagers. Particularly good to see a lot of local faces enjoying the atmosphere, always a good sign. The Sunday Roast? Just that. Not a carvery but a big plateful of freshly cooked vegetables and a generous helping of meat. You won't go home hungry (and i've got a good appetite). The menu has a reasonable selection of honest pub food and I would imagine this is very much "work in progress" while the Chef explores what his customers would like.

There are a few things that a restaurant has to have to survive: a welcoming attitude and pride in their food - this pub/restaurant has neither. Asked if anything on the menu is particularly recommended, the answer was "No" - quite different to the normal answer of "Everything is recommended!". There were only three tables occupied for lunch, we ordered the daily special but we had to wait almost 30 minutes for our food to arrive.. When it did it could have been the kind of food you expect in a fast food restaurant - really nothing special to differentiate it. In fact the menu is essentially boring and food is equally so. Give this one a miss unless you are desperate. Having said that the décor is fresh and modern - compared to the dark old-fashioned décor of the pub that was here before this. Unfortunately the food and service now casts a dark gloom!!!

Moved here from Norfolk 10 days ago. Our local is Teddy Rowe, nice place, clean and comfortable. Went there Sunday 8th April, 2 pints Carling £7.20 and had nice carvery lunch 4.15. Went there again 15th April 3.45, no food except gammon for the carvery and 1 pint Carling and 1 pint Kronenbourg £8.75. Carling seems to have jumped from £3.60 pint to £4.20 and we know that 4 minutes walk away it is £3 a pint. Unfortunately we will not be using this place again, Can't believe Carling increases that much in 1 week. Very very disappointed. My father-in-law, son and I had lunch here en route to the train station last month during our August holiday. The ambiance is that of many a traditional pub, with dark wood interior. We had to wait a few moment to open, but upon opening (about 10 minutes late) the welcome was fairly flat. We were shown to a table. The menu had respectable choice of sandwiches and several options for 2 course specials. I chose the daily soup with rump steak, my father-in-law opted for the Ardennes pate and the lamb's liver and onions, and my son a chicken sandwich. The food was great - what detracts from the experience was the service. A shame but otherwise a pleasant lunch with family.

The worst thing is the wait for your food. When it does arrive it's a real mixed bag. Great flavoursome rib eye steak, well cooked and good sauce. However, 3 meals where the mashed potato was stone cold and a child's burger which was rubbery and had been microwaved, we suspect. So some meals were sent back.

I booked online and never received a confirmation so rang next day for them to say no one has checked the online booking, so booked over the phone. On arrival 2 girls behind the bar, 1 serving a customer 1 prepping drinks for another table. The 1st girl ignored us completely after serving her customer 1 pint and went on to fold napkins. As for the food?! To be fair it looked lovely - that's as far as it got! Beef was so tough we were unable to cut it! It was medium rare so can only imagine it to be a cheap joint. Stuffing balls were so burnt they were brown - inside! Parsnips and potatoes were a combo of over cooked versus grey! All of the vegetables were a pan of boiling water away from al dente! I will never visit this establishment again!

We were in Sherborne for the day and looked into a few places, but none looked like they did a decent Sunday roast. We walked just a few minutes out of town to the Teddy Rowe, and found a lovely, warm, welcoming atmosphere, with mulled wine (which came with a mini mince pie), a delicious carvery (with a choice of beautifully cooked beef, turkey, or gammon - or a bit of all three - plus all the trimmings, including roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings, carrots, green beans, cauliflower cheese, swede, stuffing, boiled potatoes, chipolatas, and crackling), great music, and seats by a roaring fire. It was just what we wanted on a cold Sunday afternoon, and we ended up spending hours sitting in armchairs by the fire, letting our massive roast dinners go down, and enjoying the atmosphere. I would highly recommend this place for its good food, friendly staff who provide excellent service, and cosy interior. I very much hope to be back in the future - thank you!

One first look, the carvery looked amazing. Plenty of veg. The meat was really good too. But, was not impressed once we had started to eat. The roast potatoes were tough and chewy and it was only just warm. Such a shame really. But you know what they say. Looks can be deceptive.

Went for a carvery lunch which tasted delicious. The inside is very well laid out although it can get a little hot (maybe needs some air conditioning). Definitely much better than it's previous incarnation as Skippers and has good quality food.

Mid week visit at night in torrential rain but it was worth it! Comment from a friend 'the best burger I've had for year's . Every meal was superb. The pub has been much improved and a visit on Sunday for Carvery is the best.If you are older or have children you benefit!

Kids eat for a £1 was very good. 2 sausages and they allowed us to swap mash for chips with no hassle. Overall a pleasant lunch with excellent food

The Teddy Rowe is on of the best carveries in the area, always popular, today I had the beef, cooked perfectly, nice and pink, with a good selection of vegtables, really cant fault the food or the service, and offers a dicount for the over 60's

We had all been meaning to go over to the Teddy Rowe since it re-opened, and having finally made it we were definitely NOT disappointed. The whole building, including the toilets was spotless. The staff were all smartly dressed and nicely friendly and helpful, without making us feel hurried. There were three meats on offer, Beef, Lamb and Turkey. Unfortunately the beef three of us had was rather over done, but nevertheless very tasty and tender. The Lamb the fourth in our group had was also tasty and tender, although again not a speck of pink to be seen. The Roast Potatoes were lovely and crunchy on the outside and fluffy in the middle. The Yorkies were like Top Hats and beautifully light, some of us gorged and had two. There were about 6 vegetables on offer, and the Cauliflower Cheese was sumptuous with a lovely strong Cheesy flavour. The Gravy was nice and meaty and not too thin and watery. We barely had room for Desserts so stuck with Ice Cream and passed on the coffee. We all agreed we would be going back in the future, even though it was a 40 minute journey for two of us and 20 minutes for the other two. Well worth a visit. Make sure

Visited Teddy Rowe for Sunday lunch with friends. First visit for all of us but had high expectations from reading reviews. Frankly it was a bit of a let down. To me the main fault was the tables were crowded together and it was very airless. The meat selection was a tad over cooked and hence rather dry and tough. The vegetables were plentiful and well cooked but the 'one size fits all' gravy was thick and tasteless. There was a good selection of sweets, I chose ice cream which came out nicely presented, however, the vanilla one must have been re-frozen at some stage as it was very grainy with ice. Have to say here that the staff were all very friendly and helpful. I feel that the place would benefit from better ventilation and perhaps more of an emphasis on quality rather than quantity in the cooking.

We went for a Sunday carvery but weren't impressed. Although they have thrown a bit of money at the refurb the food doesn't hit the mark. Average at best.

Have been meaning to visit since it reopened as The Teddy Rowe and the opportunity came today with two grandsons. Not expecting much but pleasantly surprised. It's a bit of a tardis. Seemingly larger on the inside, bright and airy. Nice decor and comfortable. Menu was good and reasonably priced as it turned out ...... for the quality. There was just one other table for four occupied when we went in at 1.15 but other tables were gradually taken. We did have a bit of a wait for our orders to arrive but that's because evidently it was all freshly cooked ..... And to a high standard. All four of us really enjoyed our meals. And they were really generously sized portions without being overloaded like the traditional pub grub. More good quality restaurant than pub. My pork belly came with a creamy mash and sauce, parsnips and carrots. My wife had filet steak fajitas and the plate would have adequately served two for a lunch. One grandson had the three meat pie which he thoroughly enjoyed. The other had the steak burger which had him beaten halfway! These are 11 and 12 year olds with a healthy appetite.

Every plate well-cooked and tasty, but always a tad over-priced (like the TR thinks it's somewhere more chichi than it actually is). Service well-meaning - if a little haphazard. Probably best to go for Sunday lunch as it looks best value. Would go again - but would go more often if better priced.

This establishment has had a complete makeover. Its now stylish decor coupled with charming staff & a high quality chef make it a real delight. The food was fantastic, beautifully presented, well priced and tasted even better than it looked. Staff were very friendly and superbly helpful.......cannot wait for my next meal.........What a Treat!!

Can I just say my experience at the bull is always pleasant unless the owner Lucy is there she is rude. & shouldn't be running a pub. Me and my family were at a table having a laugh and a drunk she come over and told us to shutup we were being to loud the juke box was louder than us we could hardly hear our conversations. I mentioned it to someone who was working behind the bar & a few of them said she's always rude to people and to them.. Not the sort of person to run a pub if you ask me sorry!

After such a lovely Christmas meal here in 2023 we decided to return again for 2024. We pre ordered our food using the Christmas menu from their website advertised at £28 for 2 courses. I ordered the fish crumble which was absolutely awful and inedible! It was basically a dish full of bread crumbs, I left very disappointed, if the meal wasn't bad enough we were told when paying that the cost of the meal had gone up to £32 for 2 courses! Despite mentioning that a) my fish crumble was inedible and b) the price they were charging was different than advertised - no offer of a discount was given. Usually we leave this pub very happy with full bellies but it wasn't to be on this occasion. My advice is - don't order the fish crumble from thr Christmas menu !

Good food, well presented and tasty. Excellent service. But the restaurant completely lacked atmosphere, the cafe was far more attractive and interesting. The restaurant was very echoy and even with only a few guests was noisy. A pity as that let down and excellent venue
