Probably the worst pub food I’ve ever eaten in my life, and I’ve had a few! Apparently, the chef had to leave at short notice, which should have sounded alarm bells, but, being typically British, we didn’t want to get up and leave having already said we wanted food! The lady behind the bar was a customer, who had only popped in for a drink, but she had a streaming cold, literally dripping from her nose, and we didn’t see her washing her hands once! We ordered two lasagnas and two cottage pies, which were probably microwave heated Tesco value meals, with tinned peas and cold chips! The only positive being, that we ended up laughing at just how terrible this experience was! In comparison, we ate at The Globe on our first night in Lostwithiel, then at Sunny Spice (Indian) the following night, both being delicious in comparison…

Went into The King's Arms, Lostwithiel during Lostfest. Oh dear what a mistake. My wife and I ordered 2 drinks and 2 burgers. When we sat down to await our feast we could see a couple with a baby waiting for their food., I believe it to be Connor B of a previous review. Our burgers arrived in good time but not good nick. The chips were well over cooked and greasy, the burgers were the cheapest sad looking McDonalds rejects I have ever seen. We did eat them as we were hungry but would never go back. When we spoke to the other gent, previously mentioned, he told us he had been waiting an hour & a half and they did not bring his chips. I think he got away lucky They managed to get some money back but had to fight for it. All in all a very poor experience from the food, I hesitate to use that word but... the bar lady swearing like a trooper when she broke a glass and blaming the new chef, who was also doubling up as waitress. Could not offer anything positive and would have scored zero if I could.

Hands down the worst service i have ever had, the bar waman was rude and the quality of the food was desperatly lacking. It took over an hour to get our food and when it did arrive we were given 2 burgers that couldnt even meet mcdonalds quality and when we informed them that they had forgot the chips on both meals we was reponeded with attitude and just poor customer service. The bar staff were more worried about arguing (swearing) and bickering about who was finishing first to go drinking rather that serving the customers.

Horrendous, is all I can say. Staff apart from the young lady, were rude miserable and uninterested. Ordered burger and chips, which were worse than what you get from a burger van after night out! Was asked twice if all was OK, once by who I believe was the owner (old lady) replied that it was dreadful. All was blamed on the"new chef"!!! Poor woman. With this quality produce no one could achieve even McDonalds standards, as the precious review mentions. Appalling. Do not waste your time or hard earnt money.

We were in quite early, 5.00 ish and it was heaving. There was a great bonhommie atmosphere. The barmaid was lovely, even though she was busy she said to us Ill be with you asap. Fantastic juke box. It made up for the awful service we had had in the Royal Oak. The wine was ok.

St Austell who own this building need to get their finger out. First of all is sellls itself as a restaurant but no food is served unless your a guest staying the night and breakfast is available to order the night before. Local hangout for the youths and live music played on the premises. The rooms (we were allocated no 5) were appalling. Dirty is not the word. Bathroom has recently been redone but the shower door didn’t close properly. The bedroom which was very poky with a window that overlooked the main road so traffic noise finished around 1am and started up again around 530am no other ventilation. I could sit on the side of the bed and my head touch the sliding bathroom door. This is a main road so all the traffic goes by including Eden project. Hosts were very hospitable. It is not them I blame but the brewery ho owns it. But avoid. WiFi offered but couldn’t connect.

Living fairly local we decided to give it a try having read mixed reviews. We ordered prawn puree starters, chicken jalfrezi, chicken bhuna, mushroom rice and garlic nan. The starter was ok but we were really disappointed with the rest. There was a lack of spice and heat and the food did not have the depth of flavour we enjoy at "proper" Indian restaurants. The nan was soggy and tasted like it had been soaked in lemon juice. I could not recommend based on our experience the curry is not even as good as Wetherspoons!

Stayed in Lostwithiel and was recommended to visit for a Indian. Very friendly and welcoming staff. The cook catered for me individually which was lovely as I'd wanted something that wasn't on the menu. We were very pleasantly surprised at how delicious and tasty our food was. My partner had had a Madras which he said was very full of flavour but he'd of preferred it a little spicier. We would highly recommend here as it was also very reasonably priced too.

My husband and I met up with a group of friends for a curry at The Kings. The restaurant is lovely and the staff excellent. Its a shame abot the food. It was overpriced and tasted like a typical supermarket microwave meal that was dressed up fancy. The samosas were greasy and nan bread dry and crumbly. However the band in the bar was great n the bar was packed with all age groups. We will be back for drinks n a laugh but not for food, sorry.

Poppadums were fine. Starters were acceptable, but not as good as supermarket equivalents. The main meals were appalling. I had a 'chef's recommendation' lamb dish that comprised 'some chewy bits of meat floating in a rather nasty oily sauce. The accompanying naan bread was soggy. My fellow diners had similarly disappointing mains - theirs in glow-in-the dark colours. I eat Indian-style meals regularly and I've never tasted anything remotely like this. The staff tried their best.

Visited this pub after work for some food and was hugely disappointed. I had mac & cheese from the specials board, which I'm 99% sure was a tin of Heinz macaroni cheese and the worst meal I've ever paid for. My boyfriend had some soggy nachos with chilli which was a little better, but we left feeling ripped off & embarrassed by how bad it was. Staff were however friendly and I'm sure it's a fine place to go for a drink.

Visited here last Saturday during a weekend break in Lostwithiel. Arrived early evening Saturday and it was buzzing. Full of footballers enjoying a pint after their afternoon game. Friendly bar staff and locals. Nice pint of Tribute and Rattler. Sports pub with two TV's in each bar. We ordered food and sat down with our pint to watch the football and one of the locals asked for the rugby to be put on instead. If we'd have not ordered food we would have left after our drink but hey ho! Food was basic pub grub and really good value. We both enjoyed our meal. Would've stayed for a few more drinks had the football still been on!!
