Very disappointed my partner and I come here every time we visit the new forest. We came this time with her Mum and Dad. The main reason we go here is cause of the good choice of gluten free options there have. I wanted a gluten free cheese and ham toastie to be told there was too busy to do gluten free toastie .yet there advertised gluten free options. Then I was given a coffee with a non gluten free biscuit so be careful when you order drinks.Unfortunately we will not revisit again…

As a regular visitor to Lymington Town Quay on our boat, we’ve never ventured to the opposite side of the river! The Ferryman is an absolute gem - with garden bathed in sunshine today in May, we opted for Sunday lunch indoors in their tastefully decorated restaurant. We all had the beef - a stunningly cooked, 28 day, dry-aged beef rib served with the freshest veggies, Yorkshire pudding and silky gravy! We opted also for two sides of cauliflower cheese which was exquisite. Definitely heading back there again! We didn’t realise that dogs were not permitted in the main restaurant - a welcomed rule given the behaviour of some owners dogs, but an exception was made for our very well behaved Dalmatian - who didn’t make a sound for the entirety of the meal. Thank you for being so welcoming. Best roast I’ve ever had!

We always come here for coffee and been meaning to try the tapas for so long and finally we did. Thank goodness we did. It was amazing. Best tapas we have ever tasted. Carl explained everything to us and even suggested what we should have. Perfect! Staff are so friendly. Lovely ambience. We will definitely be back for more tapas!

a few in our party had visited before and were really impressed, however sadly this trip really didn’t live up to our expectations. food is priced high, but the service we received certainly didn’t match - very inattentive, lots of missed opportunities (missing cutlery, unclean glasses). the food had lots of issues also sadly - cold pancakes with the duck, mains came out before duck and then had to be reheated leaving the rice clumpy, only one portion of noodles left on a Tuesday night, and very salty beef with mushrooms. overall was a really disappointing meal, and sadly unlike those local in our party will return.

Very busy, but worth waiting for, as turnover of tables is quite rapid. Excellent lunch, good coffee, and an exceptional pineapple upside down cake, which is not easy to get right, let alone as good as this. The menu is really extensive for a cafe and very reasonably priced. Friendly service as well.

We were staying at the Sandy Balls holiday centre, but since our last visit there, they no longer have Sky Sports in the bar. My son and I wanted to watch the football and World Championship Darts. So after a bit of research, The Crown Inn in nearby Fordingbridge came up trumps! We had a very friendly welcome from the staff and indeed the locals, nice beers plus the all important Sky Sport screens, of which there were several. The pub itself has a very pleasant "Olde World” charm. There were a number of other customers in there who were staying at the holiday centre, and even a few that lived in our neck of the woods in Essex. We will certainly visit again the next time we are in town.

New owners have renamed this place The Paddle. Prices gone up, service gone down and the food is not as good as it was. Shame

My daughter and went for afternoon tea today to celebrate Mothers Day. It was a complete disaster and we’ll never go there again. They were hopelessly overbooked for 2pm and were still frantically trying to serve lunches. The kitchen didn’t cope at all and there was no service . We waited 20 minutes for even a pot of tea and 45 minutes for the arrival of our afternoon tea sandwiches and cakes. The food itself was quite tasty but the presentation was poor with fairly thick cut sandwiches and hefty squares of traybake cakes. There appeared to be no organisation among the waiting staff but they had their work cut out dealing with complaints. The manager did come and apologise to us but our special treat was ruined. No stars from us I’m afraid.
