Recently been advised to lay off the caffeine and have, in consequence, been drinking some pretty awful drinks. However, this place was a complete revelation. Their decaf americano was far and away the best coffee that I have drunk in weeks. Bags of flavour, deep colour and generally well presented. I cannot speak for their other coffees, but I imagine they were pretty good too, judging by the number of customers present. A good range of cakes and pastries were well displayed in this café, which also stocks a range of deli-type produce.

Sadly our visit left us unhappy. Ordered bacon baguette and drinks. The waitress was very polite but brought us sandwiches instead. We sent them back, only for the waitress to return with them again, telling us this is what we were having!!! Sent them back again, firmly telling the polite waitress we were not accepting this. All good in the end, but should not have had an argument at all. It's was also very expensive, £22 for two bacon bagettes, a tea and a coffee. Won't be returning

I have to agree with 2 of the most recent reviews - this place fails to deliver. Not only was the quality of the food poor but the price was way too much for what it was. My wife had the granola/yoghurt bowl and there was virtually no granola in the bowl. It was simply yoghurt and a few bits of fruit. Very bad value. I had bacon and brie in a baguette. The baguette was overcooked in the oven as was the bacon (dry and tasteless). £8 for this was a rip-off. In fact, over £20 for both of us was just crazy considering how cheap their ingredients. Avoid this place - there must be far better in town.

We liked the looked of this place, with outside seating in a sunny courtyard. Inside was clean and inviting. I ordered two baguettes and two coffees. Service was quick. Coffee spot on, but the small baguettes were expensive and came on huge plates with no garnish. I had egg mayonnaise which was all creamy stuff, hardly any egg and it literally ran out of the bread. I wouldn’t return as I don’t mind paying higher prices but I do t like being robbed.

Very friendly greeting and the place was beautifully clean. I ordered a cheese and bacon baguette with a coffee and my wife ordered the vegetable soup. Despite the cafe being busy, it was market day, we were served very quickly. The baguette was delicious and my wife loved the beautifully thick vegetable soup which was served with fresh bread. The coffee was perfect. We shall certainly visit again.

I visited this cafe after a long walk around the salt mashes area of lymington with my girlfriend. It looked like a nice place so went in and ordered two sandwiches, I was surprised by the price but thought the place looked good so the food must be good. Ordered an egg mayonaise sandwich and a tuna mayanaise sandwich. Service was quick as the place was nearly empty. When the food arrived I was very dissapointed, served on a large plate and looked like a simple sandwich, I thought maybe soemthing was missing like some salad garnish and some crisps considering the price paid and asked the waitress, she looked embarressed and simply said no it doesn't come with that. I took a bite of the tuna mayanaise sandwich and instantly felt repulsed, as we had shared half of each sandwich I opened both up and could see what the problem was, a sea of mayoniase with just a small amount of tuna and equally a small amount in the other sandwich of egg. It was like someone had poured a few table spoons of mayanaise in each sandwich and sprinkled a small amount of tuna or egg into them. The manager was around so I told him what I thought of the sandwich, he looked very annoyed, perhaps he had spent too much time watching re runs of falty towers, at no time was he apologetic in any way, he did state he would make me something else but by then I had no confidence in what they might make and just felt very ripped off. It seemed to me that perhaps this was a cost cutting exercise, fill the sandwiches with dripping mayo and skimp on the main ingredeiants was the order of the day. I wanted to say alot more but waited as my girlfriend who was very hungry ate more of hers by ascrapping some of the muck off. When I cooled down I took my plate to the manager and asked for a refund, he said well you have ate half of it, clearly I had only had one bite which I stated and then just stood there with an awkward silence while I waited for his response. Obviously customer service is not one of his skills I could almost see the cogs of his mind working and decideing whether to pee me off even more or comply with my request. After a long minute he gave me my money back for the one sandwich, no apology or anything. My girlfriend a day later is still feeling sick from all the mayo. Its a shame a nice place can serve utter rubbish like this, it isnt rocket science to make these types of sandwiches. I believe it was and is deliberate as a cost cutting measure hence im so disgusted with the place and the managers attitude. Avoid !

I popped in for a quick drink whilst waiting for a friend. I had an iced coffee but was a little disappointed. The food is tasty, the coffee pretty good however, it’s expensive, the portion sizes small and unfortunately the customer service leaves a lot to be desired. Visited with some on Saturday when it was raining heavily only to be turned around and the door and told rudely that we couldn’t bring our pushchair in. Was pretty surprised as we visit most Saturdays with some friends after the kids finish ballet and bringing in the push chair hasn’t been a problem before. Won’t be coming again.

Not sure if the place has been open very long as it was very badly organised wrong orders going to wrong tables etc. A bit overpriced too, I had the mackeral salad which although very tasty was priced at £9.50 for this I would expect more than one piece of mackeral considering how much a pack of it costs in a supermarket. Over all a little dissapointed and in the old school report adage 'could do better'.

Christian's homemade food is stunning; his quiches are sumptuous, the sausage rolls dangerously moorish and his creative soups are stunning! Located in the Angel courtyard it's easy to miss this little gem for those that stick to the high street. The courtyard is accessed by a small path right by the side of the Angel and Blue pig pub/restaurant. It is quite small inside but well laid out and comfortable. There is also an extensive outside seating area when the weather is good. Stylish decoration with quality fixture and fittings you can tell the owners care. The same attention to detail is carried though to the drinks and food. On display is a selection of home made quiches and other items, all looking delicious. We stopped in for a drink and a lite bite, coffee was great, good selection of teas on offer as well. The cakes where absolutely fantastic, raspberry and chocolate brownie was the best I've tasted. My partner is not so good at the healthy side so when he asked for white bread I was pleased to hear they only had white baguette or granary bread. he chose the granary and enjoyed it. I had one of their individual quiches, which was delicious, served with a very tasty salad.

Everyone was so welcoming and helpful - they clearly were about doing everything they could for the customer. Really lovely to see fresh food being prepared in the open kitchen in front of us Had simple cheese on toast for breakfast and tea - all served with a smile. Clearly they care about the business and the customer. Would definitely visit again :)

Visiting lymington where there are plenty of chains for coffee we discovered this little gem in a side street on the way out from the car park. The coffee was the best you would find, good selection of food, interesting deli items and the friendliest staff. My only regret is that I don't live there

Today I dropped in to my favourite cafe in Lymington. Again amazing quiche and brie baguette. Fantastic selection of deli foods and speciality soft drinks. Highly recommend to all.

Visited the Sail inn with my uncle who lives in Lymington. Previous experience at the pub had been very good however this visit has left a very poor taste in the mouth. While the fish and chips were adequate the use of some sort of paper to "soak up the oil" from the food was less than appetizing for my uncle who is elderly. While the stated serving hours were 12 to 3pm when I requested dessert and coffees we were told the kitchen was closed as the chef "had to be somewhere" Given the choice of quality establishments in Lymington we obviously regretted choosing The Sail Inn and won't be doing so in the future - the fact there was no warning that the kitchen was closing early is annoying however the actual decision to shut early on a Friday lunchtime in a competive marketplace is beyond me.
