Just had Christmas dinner with the family there was 10 of us which included my down syndrome brother and my elderly mother in a wheelchair all I can say is from the moment we arrived to when we left nothing was to much trouble. We were made to feel so welcome and everyone was so helpful. With regard to the food it was nothing less than amazing personally I had a traditional Christmas dinner which looked and tasted stunning. My father had beef wellington which he said tasted amazing and said it was probably the best tasting steak he had ever had. I personally will be returning to sample other dishes. I would highly recommend a visit.

Another visit to this wonderful gem of a restaurant in Hythe Marina! There was a large party of us for my mum's 80th birthday day and and even though it was the last weekend before Christmas the staff could not do enough to make sure it was perfect, even down to the special touches of balloons and table decorations. The food as always was first class and the service outstanding. If you haven't tried it then you are missing out. Thank you once again to The Galley

Visited today with my mum for Sunday lunch. The roast beef was just perfect and the pork belly was delicious. We both had creme brulee for dessert which was melt in the mouth amazing! Would highly recommend a visit.

Decided to re visit after hearing The Galley had a new chef, so went for Sunday roast. I have to say probably the best roast dinner l have had outside of home. Roast beef not finely sliced but a proper beef joint with yorkshire , roast potatoes that were tasty, dished up with meat juice thick gravy, parsnip, carrot, swede, red cabbage, savoy cabbage, absolutely delicious. A bit dearer than some pubs but you get what you pay for and this was worth every penny.

The best roast I’ve ever had. The pork belly was melt in the mouth, the vegetables were perfectly cooked and the Yorkshire just topped it all off. My father had the beef and he was equally impressed. My only complaint…I was too full to try any of the amazing sounding desserts (but did sneak a spoonful of my brother’s sticky toffee apple pudding with aerated custard and it was epic!) I would highly recommend.

First class. I had an excellent sole with samphire, perfectly cooked, and the right mix of fish and vegetables. Followed by a very good cheeseboard and filter coffee. Couldn't fault anything.

We have eaten here before and thought the food was good not great. There is a new chef. Oh my gosh…put it in the GREAT category now. We had an amazing meal!!!! My Cauliflower soup was one of the best things I have eaten. Seriously it’s cauliflower!! But it was amazing. I had a fantastic vegetarian curry. My companions had chicken and lamb. They raved about them. And the desserts……yum. It’s a little pricey but you don’t mind when it’s that good. Found out they serve breakfast!!! Can’t wait to see what this chef does with eggs!!!

Came here with my partner midweek, it was only us and one other couple in the restaurant. The waitress serving us seemed to be in a constant rush, not sure why as there was nobody else to serve. We had to ask for a bottle of table water 3 times. but that was just a minor inconvenience. The starters were good, my partner had the scallops and I had the terrine. Both were enjoyable. For mains I had the Lamb, which says on the menu 'served pink' it was slightly over pink. but still nice. A little fatty, but to expected with lamb. My partner on the other hand thought she would treat herself to the fillet steak. We knew it was bad news when a huge amount of steak came out on the the plate. Fillet steak cooked blue should be like a hot knife through butter. This steak was like chewing gum. Maybe one or two mouthfuls that weren't fat or gristle. One of the worst 'fillet steaks' I have ever witnessed. For a meal that was £80+ for two, I was far from impressed. It could have just been a bad day in the kitchen, but we won't be back. Shame.

Had a really gorgeous evening for my partners birthday, we wanted a really chilled evening and that’s what we got. There was a fantastic saxophone player there, the staff were extremely lovely and helpful making sure we were warm with blankets and heaters. The atmosphere was lush and so was the view. Definitely want to come back and try the menu. I’m vegan and some of the options looked delicious.

We live in Hythe but this is the 1st time we've visited The Galley for Sunday Lunch. My Wife had the Roast Chicken & I went for the Roast Sirloin. I've got to say the whole experience was fantastic, from the service to the food. The Roast itself was very well executed, big crispy potatoes, plenty of fresh vegetables, a well seasoned Yorkshire Pud & the best Roast Beef I've had in years. We will definitely be making another visit soon!

What a special place. Not least because of the gorgeous marina backdrop, the option to sit out in the sunshine overlooking the boats and sea air, or inside the airy restaurant itself. The relatively new owners might be new to Hythe but they are not new to the restaurant business and this shows in spades. We visited twice during our week’s holiday. First for a Sunday Roast - best roast I’ve had at a restaurant in a long time! Really top quality delicious meals, enjoyed by all the family. Lovely atmosphere too. We returned for brunch later in the week and this was equally special. I tried the veggie full English for a change- I just knew at this point they would deliver something great- and they did. My family enjoyed the ‘usual’ full English, and the chef happily adapted the breakfast menu to suit my kids’ desires too. All round a great venue in a unique spot, well worth a visit!! P.s.- and of course, being this is the new forest, well-behaved dogs are always welcome too.

Visited the Sail inn with my uncle who lives in Lymington. Previous experience at the pub had been very good however this visit has left a very poor taste in the mouth. While the fish and chips were adequate the use of some sort of paper to "soak up the oil" from the food was less than appetizing for my uncle who is elderly. While the stated serving hours were 12 to 3pm when I requested dessert and coffees we were told the kitchen was closed as the chef "had to be somewhere" Given the choice of quality establishments in Lymington we obviously regretted choosing The Sail Inn and won't be doing so in the future - the fact there was no warning that the kitchen was closing early is annoying however the actual decision to shut early on a Friday lunchtime in a competive marketplace is beyond me.
