The Greenwood Tree in New Forest

I have visited this place a couple of times now, and each time the service and food was excellent. I like the fact that it's a family run, local business and glad to be able to support it. Food was excellent and the service we received was outstanding. We had a nice chat with the owner as well❤️👍

3rd time and everytime it is consistently brilliant. The halloween cakes were imaginative and fun. The owner is always so friendly and personable. She is obviously training a young team so the service was slower than usual but that can be overlooked. I had mushrooms and toast with poached eggs, my partner had quiche and it was also great. The cream tea was great as usual x

We popped in when we saw that you could take out scones but none were on view which should have been a warning sign. They did not look taste or have the texture of proper scones which was a big disappointment since it seemed to be a big selling point for their cafe.

Wow wow wow! What a delight to find a family run, freshly cooked cafe with lots of options for all sorts of dietary requirements! Friendly setting, extensive menu and great atmosphere.

This place never disappoints. Great quality food and friendly staff. A real bonus for us is that it is a dog friendly establishment.

Went there for the flotted cream tea, however was told they had run out of the vegan flotted cream. We were given flora butter as an alternative which just wasn’t the same, and unfortunately we were still charged full price which did make me feel a bit cheated. The scone itself, and their house blend tea, was delicious.

On our visit to The greenwood tree they got the order wrong as they had a new waitress taking our order which we completely understand can happen. A more experienced member of staff came over to see about the order. She spoke to us incredibly abruptly and blamed us for getting the order wrong. She snapped at my teenage daughter for no reason, would not listen to what we had to say and was adamant it was wrong on our side. Even after we make it clear that getting the order wrong wasn’t an issue she continued to raise her voice, behave rudely and condescendingly. She upset my daughter so much that she just wanted to leave. We used to really rate this restaurant and enjoyed going there but will not be dining there again due to fact that this member of staff was so unprofessional.

This cafe is very popular - during the August bank holiday, staff were having to turn customers away as they were full. Thankfully, I arrived early enough to get a table without a reservation. The decor has a woodland theme and is tastefully done. This cafe has an excellent menu - large sections for vegan and gluten free items. In addition to the extensive menu, there's a large board of daily specials for hot and cold food. There's also a display case with freshly baked items. I had a vegan croissant with scrambled 'eggs' (chickpea flour) and avocado. The croissant was flaky and delicious, exactly like an all butter version! The filling was generous and tasty too. This was followed by a rhubarb bakewell slice. I love bakewell tarts but it's difficult to find vegan versions. This 1 hit the spot. Lastly, I was smitten with the possibility of flotted cream - a vegan alternative to clotted cream. I ordered a vegan cream tea to take away which had a large scone (choice of fruit or plain) a little pot of flotted cream and a small jar of strawberry jam. It was outstanding. If it hadn't been such a warm day (and with no access to a fridge) I would have bought a large pot of cream which they sell saparately. I had a strawberry milkshake with vegan ice cream and oat milk. I could have had 10 of these, it tasted so good. It was a little difficult to get the attention of staff towards the end of the meal because they were so busy, so patience is needed during the busy lunch time.

We stopped for a family lunch before heading home. We chose paninis and jacket potatoes. All six meals were very tasty, and arrived together. We liked the atmosphere of the cafe and the feeling of space, also we didnt feel pressured to leave, very relaxing , would definitely recommend.

We visited here upon our arrival on holiday in Lyndhurst. Our youngest daughter is coeliac so we needed to find a cafe to cater to her needs. We were very impressed they had their own GF Menu with a large range of items on it. She chose a plain scones which she thoroughly enjoyed. The rest of us enjoyed our regular scones and biscuits.

The meals were tasty and plenty of it. We were really pleased with the Gluten Free options as there was quite a few items to choose from. We would definitely recommend.

We had a lovely brunch here. I was happy to find a yummy Gluten free and vegan menu, the staff were friendly and helpful and even provided a bowl of water for the dog! We would highly recommend.

If I could put more then 5 starts I will, I had a Gluten free all day breakfast and my partner had the all day breakfast, food was amazing even the gluten free one. Definitely recommend people try this cafe 😋😋

We stopped for lunch here today (family of 4). We all had All Day Breakfasts (Kids, Adult and Gluten Free). All the food was cooked well and tasted excellent 😊😊. Good selection of Gluten Free foods

A sublime place, very cozy with an atmosphere that combines British and American. It’s simple, it feels like a Netflix series! The staff are welcoming and adorable, they take care of their customers and give their best. The drinks were good and hot and as for the pancakes, we had maple syrup and bacon and it was really perfect! We had a great time and our taste buds and eyes were full of it, a must-see in the area! There, everything is also very focused on vegan and plant-based products, so don’t hesitate to try the specialties!

Atmosphere is bad, the colors of the walls give a bad atmosphere, then I ordered water and it tasted like pure chlorine, so it's better to lie in a pool and drink yourself full.

Lovely, friendly family run cafe that caters for all sorts of dietary requirements. We stopped for breakfast and everything was cooked to perfection. Recommend the sweetcorn fritters, they were amazing.

What a wonderful place. We were looking for somewhere to have breakfast on our way home. I had a full English, our son had nutella and pancakes and my husband had poached eggs on toast with bacon. We were greated with a friendly face, our order was taken promptly and there was some changes which were accommodated. The food was local, fresh ans absolutely wonderful. We highly reccomend.

Quirky little café/tearoom on the main road running through Lyndhurst. Popped in here for a late bit to eat. Opted for a bacon and egg ciabatta, a fruit scone with clotted cream and jam, and then a pot of tea. No parking, but there is a large paid car park a short walk away.

First went to this fantastic cafe in 2022 and was blown away by everything …quality of food and drinks the service and the staff . Have just been back again ( we live 4hours away ) and everything is just as good . We wish we had one in Norwich .

Lovely little cafe, spacious and calm atmosphere. The food was brilliant and a fab gluten free (and vegan ) menu. Being celiac I find it hard to find a decent place for lunch with different options, I had a lovely sandwich and we shared the loaded fries. Definitely going back for cream tea and to work out way through the menu! Highly recommend

Visited for a coffee and a piece of cake. We had Rainbow cake and Dorset Apple Cake. Both delicious. Coffee was also great c Good service and no waiting. Would definitely recommend

A lovely cafe with seperate full Gluten Free and Vegan Menus! A refreshing change for my partner who is Gluten intolerant to be so well catered for. We had a gluten free cream tea and a brie and bacon sandwich. Both were delicious and the staff were super friendly and helpful. 😀

Lovely food, ingredients sourced locally and from their allotment

My second visit here and it was just as good. It is nice to see weekly changing specials that give variety. I had the pickled radish and avocado salad and it was great. Also the coffee cake was delicious. The owner speaks with such passion about using local suppliers, utilising her own allotment and her pride for her daughters contribution to the business. Thank you the Greenwood Tree team!

Fantastic range of gluten free food, something for everyone! Can highly recommend the gluten free cakes and scones, always a good variety and always tasty.

Had a fantastic Warm Courgette and Boroad Bean salad, I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was really delicious. The ingredients were so fresh and tasty, exactly what I needed. I'm definitely coming back, next time I'm here.

Brunch post Parkrun, needing coffee and food. Lovely. Bacon Stack chosen from the chalkboard and with 2 flat whites I was sufficiently refuelled 😁. great menu options and friendly service, so would recommend. Next time I may try the alternative cream tea 😉

Love exploring local places, this was great cakes and coffee

Very friendly and helpful staff, lovely atmosphere and perfect location for a spot of lunch. The food is outrageously amazing (try the cheese/tomato/pesto panini and the chicken ciabatta!). Love the dogs being around, all were completely relaxed and welcomed. Set up our afternoon walk perfectly!

Check out those scone flavours! Amazing, to full to eat in the cafe, grab a take away cream tea to enjoy at home. Great vegan range and noted they are doing a special vegan night may 3rd (hope I remember that correctly). Always had a massive menu of options, full english all day, jkt potatoes, panini etc. Always busy, likely have to wait for a table. Great service this weekend. Recommended.

Great cafe/restaurant in Lyndhurst high street- visited often when in the area Good choices of food that suits all tastes - extra special 'specials' on the boards too! A must for tea and cake or something more substantial

Every now and then you stumble across something that creates a special memory, one you carry with you and keep going back to. This is such a place- a wee gem of the New Forest. This just doesn't pay lip service to providing genuine allergy-friendly food and drink it embraces them. Be it GF, Vegan or vegetarian, they are all catered for with care and genuine love for the food. For a family with various allergies, this is a wee safe haven. For a child with food allergies, its the food equivalent of walking into their favourite toy shop. I'm lucky, I don't have allergies but family members do. To see the have fun selecting things to eat rather than just having the option is fantastic. Genuinely wonderful food and drink, served by friendly, happy staff. I cannot praise The Greenwood Tree highly enough. So many great choices of cakes, snacks and meals!!! Brilliant.

Popped into The Greewood Tree cafe on a wet March afternoon, for a cup of tea. Decided to make it a treat and had a delicious fruit scone, clotted cream and jam. We were not disappointed- the scones were huge and tasty! The cafe offers a variety of “homemade” scones such as banoffee and caramel made in their own bakery, and lovely cakes. There’s a good choice of gluten and vegan dishes for breakfast, lunch and tea (they even have a separate menu so you don’t have search the symbols on the main menu)! We brought home a takeaway GF “cream” tea with their own “flotted cream” for a family member to enjoy. Will definitely visit again.

Cannot recommend enough. Such friendly, nice servers. The owner was active speaking to customers and asking out feedback. We tried the vegan clotted cream (flotted cream) and I am a convert!

Visited last year and it was brilliant. Unfortunately big change now, ordered a 3 egg omelette and let's just say it was so small it seemed barely 1 egg! Used to have plenty of vegan option cakes, not this time. Couldn't get anything and when I asked, was told they would be ready later that day! (No good when your on holiday and passing through!) Prices were far too much for what we got, portions small and prices too high. So disappointed as recommended the place to my friends last year, who now I had to tell not to bother. Shame.

Finding myself in Lyndhurst for work break i trotted over to the Greenwood Tree for a scone and tea .....BUT after reviewing the special board i settled on the roast potatos with maple bacon, feta and a poached egg on top. I was not disapointed ... the small chunks of spud were cooked crispy just as i like them and the poached egg was cooked to perfection, the portion size was excellant not too big and not a tiny amount on a large plate .... loved the addition of the china cups for the tea. Def worth a visit if you are in the area carpark just over the road too so easy to park and walk here. Busy popular place by the looks of it and add to that the staff are lovely

We came here one Sunday six months ago, coming back to Southampton having visited my mother-in-law in New Milton. Since that first visit, coming back along the A35, through Lyndhurst, would be unthinkable without stopping for lunch here. Why? The stars say it all. The food is wholesome and plentiful, the 'specials' are tried and tested by the staff before being given the 'green light', the staff are welcoming and smiley, ably led by the owner, Francesca, who always takes time to 'chew the cud'. Love & Respect ❤️❤️❤️

First visit today; we had a delicious roast potatoes, feta and maple bacon from the specials menu. It was great to see a good range of gluten free options on the menu. Friendly service. We'll be back.

In the past always enjoyed our meal here but the last couple of times not so enjoyable. Asked for a toastie which I thought should be a sealed couple of slices of bread put into a toastie machine but received three dried pieces of toast piled up on each other. I asked if I could have onion or cheese in it and was told I could have onion no mention of extra payments. When paying the bill was asked for an extra £1.30 for the very few thin slices of onion in between the exceedingly dry pieces of toast. My husband also said his soup was not very tasty just too much coriander which made it very peppry for him to enjoy it.

One of the best cafes I’ve been to in a while. Lovely staff & had the tastiest tuna panini I’ve ever had. The menu had a lot to choose from so we will definitely be returning soon 👏🏻👏🏻

Polite and friendly staff gave us a warm welcome. Quickly served despite being busy. 2 coffees and a piece of lemon drizzle cake both superb. I forgot to ask for decaf so returned my cup. They very kindly didn't charge me for my mistake. Definitely recommended.

Really impressed with this lovely cafe in the forest..Great menu with lots of vegan options as well as standard menu. I ordered from the specials board and could not have been happier with the taste explosion, that I find to be rare nowadays. Staff were welcoming and service was exceptional. Visited on our way home from a little family holiday in Ashurst. Lovely atmosphere here. Huge menu. Dog friendly (which was a big plus for us as we had a dog) We had a coeliac with us so great to see a separate menu and lots of options! Lots of space in the cafe too. We only had creams teas and a panini but the other food coming out the kitchen while we were there looked yummy!

I visited this cafe couple of days and had my lunch there, first off all no staff, finally a girl serve me and she was so rude, food was very expensive not for value for money, with burger was no salad and cold fries, burger was so dry even cannot swallow it, my partner had sandwich but salad was not fresh, table were dirty will never come back here again. very bad experience.

Service was lovely to start with. I ordered the 'special ' mushrooms, poached egg and gruyere cheese on leek toast. It arrive, it looked nice but no gruyere cheese (the ingredient that makes it 'special .' I pointed this out to the waitress who kindly said she would fetch some. I did think she would take it with her as maybe it would be grilled slightly after adding it. I waited for a couple of minutes. Once I was almost finished she returned, explaining that they had run out and gone to buy more. Without the chese, the meal is just very expensive mushrooms on toast! We asked for the bill and asked if this would reflected in the price? The waitress hurried off. A different waitress returned and asked us if our meal had been OK, when we started to explain she said very curtly that a drink had been taken off and basically that was it. This situation could have been rectified very easily at many points.

I have reviewed this place several times. Without wishing to get boring all remains really impressive. The variety of scone flavours is wonderful. Personally apple & cinnamon is a huge winner !! Highly recommended.

Great vegan menu. We had 2 breakfasts, one with sausages and one with the corn fritters, which they split between our plates. Very tasty. The chai latte and Earl Grey were good too. Very friendly staff and a tasteful decor and ambience. Highly recommended⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Impromptu family brunch with parents during the week. Plenty of spare tables although we did reserve in advance. Food was hot and a good size plate, staff were attentive and nothing to much bother. This place does get packed during the weekend.

This café is charming and is family owned and run. Solid wooden floors and rustic decor it sits perfectly on the high street of Lyndhurst. The staff are very friendly and the food is delicious 😋. There is a good choice of food with both vegan and gluten free options too the meat eaters amongst us. A daily specials board. All days breakfast is available both meat and vegetarian 😁. Beautiful cakes and scones in a wide variety. Cream teas or just a cuppa. All are welcome especially families and including your four legged friends 🐾. Absolutely brilliant. The owners are Mother and Daughter and you could either be served or have your food cooked by these very lovely people. The daughter has spent time creating a vegan clotted cream alternative and it's very nice too. Thank you The GWT see you again soon.

Popped in this lovely cafe for a bite of lunch after a poor experience at the The Forage cafe along the road a few days before. What a difference; friendly helpful staff, good food and nice drinks. We had ciabatta BLT’s and they were great - really good bacon Great surroundings, lots of choices on the menu (full vegan menu), reasonable prices so what’s not to like Recommended

Kudos to the cake maker! New to the area, wanted to try a few coffee shops in the area. Have been to a small range on the high street, this is my favourite! Had a wonderful English breakfast followed by a walk in the Forrest. Returned for a coffee and may have tried a few of the delicious cakes on the display, all freshly made on site I found out! Will be returning to try more soon! Staff were delightful, and the prices were great for the quality! (There Christmas display was also great)

Lovely, friendly, welcoming cafe with fantastic cake! We were meeting up with a friend in Lyndhurst, got there early and were practically dragged into this cafe by the couple who parked next to us in the car park whose friends run it but I'm glad they did. We had decent coffees whilst waiting for our friend and then had a good lunch, although the cod goujons were a little dry. It was a horrible day so we stayed for a good while chatting and then ordered some Kinder Buena cake. It was amazing - huge and very rich. We ended up taking most of our cake home in environmentally-friendly boxes.

Well, our late Breakfast / early Lunch is always a Highlight of our day's workshop photographing Fungi in the New Forest. Two fine cooked breakfasts, a Brie, Cranberry et Al Panini and Dirty Fries were all excellent. Coffee truly to die for - a really first rate Americano with cold milk. Super service and very pleasant surroundings. We will return. Hayling Seagoon
