Horrendous. This was my “flat white”. Despite them having the different oz of coffee on their menu, every coffee comes out like a messy blobbed cappuccino. Awful. Truly awful.

A visit to Lymington was not planned for this Bournemouth area mini-break, but the forecasted rain hadn’t materialised. So, we stayed-on a little longer than expected and fitted-in a quick visit to this lovely small town. Lunch was needed and we walked almost the entire length of the High Street before finding this bakery-café. The food on display looked positively yummy and the café was very busy: ideal for us as this is just what we look for in a place to eat. We found an unoccupied table and I went to the servery and ordered two Americano Coffees with hot milk, a Fruit Scone with clotted cream and jam for my Partner, and a pasty for myself. The coffee was quickly produced and I took this to our table. The food arrived 6-7 minutes later but we were not in a hurry. Sadly I lost the receipt and can’t tell you which pasty I had. It was very savoury and contained meat and some beans, it was served piping hot and it was delicious. The Scone was excellent and thoroughly enjoyed by my Partner. This was an ideal snack, that was taken with very good coffee. As we left I enquired if all the baked items were baked on site, and the young woman behind the counter confirmed that they were. I suspect, given the 60 branches, across the UK that the foodstuffs are produced centrally and shipped raw to be freshly baked on site and then served fresh.

Visited on Sunday 7th July at lunch time. All the unoccupied tables had trays, cups and plates with previous occupants' food remains left on the table. We cleared the table ourselves and took the tray to the counter when we ordered our food. There were four members of staff but the service was extremely slow. We ordered a pasty, a tortilla and two cups of coffee. It took so long for the coffees to be made that by the time we sat down to eat the food items they were virtually cold. The cafe was quiet at the time, only one other customer at the counter, so the coffees should have been served promptly but the staff seemed to take their time while chatting to each other. After we sat at our table, four other sets of people came in and every one had to clear their own tables. There were four members of staff standing behind the counter literally doing nothing, apart from chatting to each other and two of them checking their mobile 'phones constantly. There were no paper napkins left as the supply had not been replenished. The tortilla I ordered had a black hair protruding from the filling which I returned to the counter and pointed this out to the staff. The tables and floor were dirty as all the customers were having to clear their own tables by brushing all the crumbs on to the floor. We have visited many of the Cornish Bakeries in recent times, Whitby and Harrogate to name but a few and we have always had good food and excellent service. The Lymington bakery is seriously letting the side down. Sadly, I will not be visiting this cafe again.

We visited on Sunday 7th July at 11:45. There was a limited selection of savoury pasties which was strange considering it was before lunch time. I asked the female server if there were any more vegan pasties as there were none on display. She said she wasn't sure/ didn't think so and looked confused but didn't go to ask anyone in the kitchen to check. I ordered the mediterranean vegetable tortilla. The girl put it onto a plate and handed it to me. It was half lukewarm, half cold. After I had finished eating I heard another customer order the same thing but the server asked her if she wanted it warming up. I did not get the option of having it heated. Lack of consistency, lack of knowledge, lack of customer service...everyone in the cafe had to clear their own tables and wipe the crumbs away whilst the staff stood around talking and looking at their mobile phones. I noticed another review mentioned there not being enough staff but from the experience we had there was enough staff. However, the staff weren't doing much aside from chatting to each other whilst there were uncleared and uncleaned tables throughout the cafe. This is by no means a reflection on the Cornish Bakery as I've been to others and always had a good experience prior to this visit. By complete contrast we visited the Portsmouth Cornish Bakery the previous week and despite being so much busier the service was good and staff were very efficient. But the experience, or lack of, made the visit to the Lymington cafe very disappointing and would not return based on this.

Obviously a very popular place as it was busy at lunch time so we found it difficult to find seats. Lovely range of food available (though quite a bit was low on stock by the time we went to order - guessing due to how busy it was). Pastries were lovely and moist. Sweet treats were indulgent. Only thing was that they were quite big! One would happily feed two people!

This is my second visit to the Cornish Bakery in Lymington and I'm happy to say that the experience was just as good as the first! Made the point of a second review due to the consistent experience. I felt it would prove useful for people that are genuinely weighing up where to stop off to in Lymington High street. I would advise looking back to my first review in October if you want more of a breakdown of the venue and service. I'm not too local, but was my intention to trying again if nearby. This visit was actually because I recommended it as a place of catching up with a friend. No food this time (definitely want to try more pasty varieties though), but came in for the coffee and social element. The coffee is just fantastic! Can't pin point why; could be the training and/or type of coffee, but it's the full, smooth and creamy type that you just can't replicate at home with the multiple fancy expensive machines you buy on black Friday, ha ha. Honestly, give it a try it. We sat on a table opposite the till in the main open area. It's a light and open space, yet the tables are set out and give you enough of your own personal space that it feels like a nice comforting area for yourselves too. We both had a nice catch up at our pace. Staff were warm and friendly, and had a little bit of banter with a blond hair lady called Sarah whilst being served. Overall, the place is good for a social, work, solo relax and (see previous review) a great place to get some lunch as the savouries are great quality. Thanks Lymington team!

The coffee shop is located in the lower section of the town, on the hilly section of town adjacent to the quay. The shop is quite recent and has been the site of several failed stores of recent years. On entering we decided to have coffee and a pastie and it was lunchtime. On handing the person serving me the payment he then proudly announced the outlet was CARD ONLY not accepting any cash and pointed to a small sign of 15x15cm on the servery counter. I was horrified, and my friend then offered to pay with her card.I can now say I will never set foot in this shop again, no matter how good of inviting your goods are.

Visited the Sail inn with my uncle who lives in Lymington. Previous experience at the pub had been very good however this visit has left a very poor taste in the mouth. While the fish and chips were adequate the use of some sort of paper to "soak up the oil" from the food was less than appetizing for my uncle who is elderly. While the stated serving hours were 12 to 3pm when I requested dessert and coffees we were told the kitchen was closed as the chef "had to be somewhere" Given the choice of quality establishments in Lymington we obviously regretted choosing The Sail Inn and won't be doing so in the future - the fact there was no warning that the kitchen was closing early is annoying however the actual decision to shut early on a Friday lunchtime in a competive marketplace is beyond me.

Just had the mushrooms on sourdough with Morcilla. Flavour was amazing. Recommend extra bacon too.
