Beautifully made coffee & lovely loose-leaf tea (best in town), plus the staff are very friendly & lovely to chat to. Food is also really good and the patio area outside is great.

We enjoyed our soup, curry and drinks. Flapjack a little underwhelming, and may have had dessicated coconut in which is not my favourite.

Stopped for coffee and cake. Seating both inside and out available with table service. Waitress was very friendly and quick. Cappuccinos were strong and hot and cake very nice. Atmosphere inside was pleasant and didn't feel crowded.

We stopped here for lunch and sat outside on the terrace. Very help and attentive staff. Huge choice of hot and cold lunch options. Delicious food - we had the cheese ploughmans, toasted ham & cheese sandwich and a tuna mayo sandwich. Lovely fresh bread and generous portions.

Set in an historic building, attached to a local museum this could so easily have become another drab and dreary ‘old school’ cafe. In fact it’s far from that. Bright, airy and always with a great vibe whether it is busy or on a quieter moment, with visitors invariably met by a smile and polite conversation from the staff. It’s crisp and clean and with an outdoor area too for those brighter days. A great selection of loose leaf tea, coffee, chocolate as well as tasty bites to eat from biscuits, through cake and scones to sandwiches, soup and Buddha bowls. There’s even an alcohol licence and a basic selection of wine, beer and local gin for those looking for a drink with a bit more kick.

Eenvoudig museum café maar met voldoende keuze voor kleine gerechten en drankjes binnen in de ruime hal van het St Barbe museum, of buiten op het terras. Snelle service.

As regular customers of Costa we thought we would give this a try but we will not be returning. The coffee was just about warm enough but devoid of any real flavour as was the cherry Bakewell cake. The first time we have left both coffee and cake. A shame as we prefer to use independent where possible but will be using Costa in the future.

I went here for lunch last week and said to the lady serving "what do you recommend". She immediately replied "the steak pie". So steak pie it was. With a cup of tea it was just over £10 which did make me wince a bit. However I am a firm believer in you get what you pay for. I really cannot fault any part of that lunch. Peas and carrots had clearly just been cooked and both were of good quality. Mashed potato, seasoned correctly and no lumps. Now to the Pie. Excellent pastry, no soggy bottom here!. Packed full of large pieces of meat with no fat or gristle to speak of. So would I order it again at that price?. In a heart beat.

This cafe is in the Foyer of the St Barbe Museum and Art Gallery and is really very good. It was quite busy when I arrived but the service was quick, efficient and friendly. I was quite astounded at the range of food I saw coming out of the very small preparation space.Customers ranged from young mums with pushchairs to couples popping in for the Tourism point and staying for a coffee to groups of friends.

Following up on a friend's recommendation, we called in for coffees and cakes on a wet Thursday morning. Located in the foyer of the Town Museum, this independent, family-run coffee shop / café is an absolute gem hiding in plain sight. Warm, welcoming and friendly it was just what we both needed after a visit to the dentist and, echoing the comments of another reviewer, they serve some of the best coffee in Lymington. The food was excellent - high quality, freshly prepared, reasonably priced and with a strong emphasis on local producers and suppliers. We must have walked past this café dozens of times in the past without paying it much attention - but it will be firmly on our radar in future. Highly recommended.

Coffee and cake. Good quality and plenty of choice. Just very busy and noisy so we had to wait quite a long time for our order to arrive at the table even though it didn’t need much preparation.

We love this place, a warm welcome, great food and the coffee is superb. The cleanest around in our opinion and perfectly comfortable . We love to sit out in the sunshine too when weather permits and the museum and shop also very good.

Nice coffee and cakes, at the front of the museums you don't have to pay to go in if you wish to eat only, though art gallery well worth a visit.

A fantastic couple of cups of coffee - a flat white and a black americano, accompanied by a delicious piece of carrot cake. A lovely atmosphere, great service, superlative coffee and cake, good prices. A gem amongst the many cafes in Lymington.

Stumbled across the cafe walking around Lymington. Coffees are really nice and there oat and chocolate coffee for 99p is not only amazing but well priced too. Do yourself a favour don't got to the highstreet chain and venture here, you won't regret it.

No need to visit the St Barbe gallery to enjoy a light meal or tea and cakes here, though it would be a shame to miss the current exhibition of WW2 art.

Had coffee here a couple of times and lunch the other day. The team are really friendly, food is great and good value and it isn't at all crowded. Well worth a visit compared to some of the major brand coffee shops in Lymington.

Visited the Sail inn with my uncle who lives in Lymington. Previous experience at the pub had been very good however this visit has left a very poor taste in the mouth. While the fish and chips were adequate the use of some sort of paper to "soak up the oil" from the food was less than appetizing for my uncle who is elderly. While the stated serving hours were 12 to 3pm when I requested dessert and coffees we were told the kitchen was closed as the chef "had to be somewhere" Given the choice of quality establishments in Lymington we obviously regretted choosing The Sail Inn and won't be doing so in the future - the fact there was no warning that the kitchen was closing early is annoying however the actual decision to shut early on a Friday lunchtime in a competive marketplace is beyond me.
