I was debating whether to give this 4 or 5 stars as it wasn't perfect and, on reflection, i thought i'd give it 4 stars as there were just a few too many minor issues. They were minor and maybe i'm being a bit harsh but let me explain. The issues were that we ordered two different types of beers and both barrels were empty so not a great start having to wait for our drinks - an unfortunate co-incidence to be fair. Small gripe no. 2 (and maybe helpful feedback for the kitchen), we ordered pate as a starter and it came as a slab of pate and some pieces of white toast. When ordered elsewhere before, the pate normally comes in a pot with some garnish and the bread is either wholemeal, brioche or sourdough, not plain white bread - a tad disappointing. Finally, the bill - was quite surprised it came to £70 each - for starter, main and a couple of drinks. I would have expected £50 but didn't perhaps realise it was so expensive. I feel bad writing the paragraph above as we had a lovely evening and the food was generally very good. Their signature souffles were amazing and the meat was very tender. The atmosphere was calm and the service very good. I would most definitely come again but perhaps realise it's a bit more pricey that expected and avoid the pate starter!!

This was our first trip to Deal and we booked in here for nights, which we were able to extend to 3 nights, to visit family. Our welcome from the owner and all his staff could not have been better - professional, friendly, efficient and helpful, without being intrusive. The King's Head is a good old traditional hostelry with a long and interesting history, an eclectic collection of pictures and artifacts that celebrate Deal's past, local characters and sporting people and events will some connection to the pub. The location is perfect, with easy access to lots to see and do in a small town that is clearly on the up. It doesn't have parking, but this is clearly stated in the details and there are both short and longer stay car parks within easy walking distance. Although now mainly an eating place, supported by locals, tourists and business people, it was good to see that it was also somewhere you could just have a drink. We ate here on two nights of our stay. The menu was typical of excellent pub grub, with a small specials board each day. We eat out a lot and our experience here could not be faulted. Our order was taken quickly and our food, which was nicely cooked and well presented, arrived much faster than in many restaurant pubs. Being lovers of the sea, but living as far from the coast as you could possibly get, we booked a double room with a sea view. The room itself did not disappoint - an adequate size, a view of the Deal Pier and The English Channel and tasteful decoration. Were I able to, I would have given The King's Head 4.5*, rather than 4*. My reasons for dropping a star being that we found the small size of the shower slightly difficult' and as a vegetarian, who will eat fish occasionally, I would have welcomed a couple more vegetarian meal choices. All in all this is a wonderful place to stay and eat and we will be back later in the year, when we hope to be able to sample the interesting looking menu at your sister pub, The Port Arms, which was closed for part of our stay Thank you Graham and your team for helping to make our first visit to Deal so enjoyable.

Stopped here for a quick bite to eat after taking the dogs out, had the basket meals in the garden, they were very nice and a good deal, the staff were pleasant and welcoming, the beer was good, loved the garden, very spacious, nice and tidy with bins(not something you see to often). Dogs are very welcome with bowls of water left out for them. Hopefully will try to make it here more often.

Wonderful Sunday lunch - well cooked and substantial portions. The roast lamb and pork was superb! Chicken Liver Parfait for starters was excellent. Attentive service from a young waiting staff and restaurant manager who was excellent. The French Sauvignon Blanc was cracking!

Went here on 26th March with friends . Usually food and service ok but not this time. Served with wrong order by a disinterested waitress . No apology. Asked for Jerk chicken and was served with a pork steak with chips. Replacement for original choice was not as described on the menu . The pork was retrieved from the wrong order and cut up to try and fool me that it was chicken. What a cheek! Informed the waitress waitress but no reaction. Won’t be going there again.

I loved the atmosphere of the restaurant the most. We sat in the booths toward the rear of the restaurant. Seats were comfy and the decor was good, very tastefully done. The food was nice. Usually I don't like sauces and I had been too busy withy conversation to enquire about the sauce that came with the salmon but I ate everything. The only thing I'd have said is that I like my salmon to be more firm with slightly more taste, but that's my personal preference. I'd definitely go back again.

We made use of the private dining area for Sunday lunch to celebrate my sister expecting her first baby, with family and friends. Nell and the team were so welcoming and couldn’t do enough for us. The food was amazing, will definitely be recommending!
