Great place, staff are so polite and helpful I would totally recommend it.

Lovely old pub/building in a picturesque village. They put on a nice spread of sandwiches, etc, for a family gathering. Didn't try the ordinary menu. Parking very tight thar day (lunchtime).

Lovely little place, great service and lots of different rooms/areas to eat and drink in. We were tucked away in what almost seemed like a private dining room with us and one other large group was great for the kids and the dog. Sunday lunch was tasty and a very nice desserts selection and the kiwi and lime cheesecake was fantastic. Would happily sit at the bar eating that like a bar snack! All in all a well rounded local pub that I would love to have as my local!

An excellent pub restaurant. A very comprehensive menu & reasonable priced. Food was extremely good as was the service. Dogs are allowed. We would definitely visit them again.

Went for Sunday lunch and had a great experience all round. Food was great and value for money, as was the service from the staff. We even got a friendly wave from chef as we left after our meal. Will definitely be going here again.

Fantastic place for food and drinks

The Moon and Sixpence has been one of our favourites for many years and it is still delivering delicious food in a great atmosphere. We went with a large group of friends and Sam and the team looked after us well. While Hylton produced some amazing food as always. Well done everyone.

We visited for a funeral wake, lovely pub, the food was good & the service was good. Car park at rear, outside seating & plenty of room inside with split levels.

Am always happy to go there with Pauline and I Also at times with friends as well A lovely Sunday Lunch. Pauline loves lamb which rare on menu these day I always know that the beef will be excellent It is always worth booking a table here Sam and his Staff can be very proud

We were a large group celebrating an anniversary. Everything was superb from the initial greeting at the bar to our final dispersal. The food was delicious and served promptly and competently in a friendly, professional manner. Lovely atmosphere with good wine and beer.

I’ve lived locally for only 5 years and have passed through Hanwell on many occasions noticing how beautifully kept the Moon & Sixpence is. The flowers are something to see. Went for dinner with friends yesterday and WOW, the food was incredible. Tasty, hot and well delivered. The girls serving were very polite and friendly. Apparently, Sunday lunch is a must so will be booking my table.

Very nice cotswold pub. We had a hot and cold buffet, which was excellent. If we lived nearer to the pub we would use it.

I had booked this based on other trip adviser reviews. Wasn’t disappointed, quite smart inside, tablecloths and candles type of vibe. Four of us had very nice food, good choice and nice service. I would recommend

Have visited many times. Recently had a great Sunday lunch, roast lamb with all the trimmings, very tasty and received excellent service. Outdoor seating compact but had stunning hanging baskets and borders, extremely colourful.

We Booked a table for a Family members Birthday and we all had a good meal ,with very stylish decor and seating. Service was good and cheerful staff. Booked a table again on the 13th July in the evening, We weren't disappointed again the food was the best meal we've had in a long time.I had the Ribeye steak and it was cooked to perfection and I will say better than Miller and Carter steakhouse.The staff were cheerful and very polite and helpful as usual. I would definitely recommend going g here as you won't be disappointed.

Very friendly welcome, good food which came quickly. Nice atmosphere, all in the restaurant joined in with the happy birthday for a guest at a different table, generally older patrons. Food was great, the pie was delicious and tasted like real home made pastry. Best pie I've had in years. 2 people with 2 courses and soft drinks for £50 was great value, well worth a detour off the motorway.

Absolute Gem, well worth a visit

Was on holiday in the area so booked for meal. Absolutely superb. The look of the pub was so pretty and inviting with all the hanging baskets and flowers (even in the car park). The staff were friendly and prompt considering they were busy. The food was excellent, I had the salmon, so tasty, my husband had the pie, again tasty, think the sauces just were a great compliment to for the food. We have travelled the country on holiday and I can honestly say this was the best food we have had. The Landlord should be extremely proud of his staff. Congratulations to all !!!!! Thankyou.

The Father's Day roast was excellent. Beautifully presented and very tasty with a side of cauliflower cheese. The service was great and, because they had all the roast joints ready to carve (you could see them in the kitchen) the food was served almost as soon as we ordered it. The desert selection was good too, along with the price. Highly recommended.

Popped in for a quick drink and snacks Ambience is excellent and staff are very friendly. Venue itself neat and clean. Food wise quality loved it but for the cost portion/quantity was very small could be little bigger, that's the only thing want to call out. Else lovely place and would visit again.

My cousin hired this venue for a funeral. Inside is a lovely place. The sort of place we'd like to cone for a Sunday roast dinner. It was the decor and furniture that made it a very welcome place, as well as being old and not just a square like so many modern pubs.

Food and service was great. We will be visiting again.

Five of us had Sunday lunch, three salmon and two roast beef and all meals were lovely and plates cleared. Desserts too were delicious. Staff were friendly and service good. Couldn’t ask for more and good value for money.

Really enjoyed a meal for two here recently. Excellent service from Sam and his team with a great menu to choose from and excellent portion sizes too. A good choice of real ales at the bar.....well worth a visit.

Just had a fantastic meal from their new Table d'hôte menu. The meals were presented very well and tasted amazing. Very good value for money and the service was excellent. The restaurant is very comfortable and warm I highly recommend this restaurant.

We had a truly amazing meal. Even though there was only one barmaid / waitress, service was quick and efficient, carried out with a friendly smile. I would definitely be returning again.

Friends took us here for lunch whilst visiting them in Banbury. We all ate from the fixed price menu, all of us enjoyed it,well cooked and friendly staff.

Lovely pub with friendly staff, beautiful inside and out. The service was excellent and the food was gorgeous in terms of taste and presentation. They also took account of our dietary requirements (milk allergy and gluten). Perfect for a relaxed meal or something more formal.

Oh my gosh.. roasted belly of pork to die for... could have had another slice... Really good wholesome food, lovely staff, great atmosphere, lovely place. An absolute hidden gem.

Went on a saturday afternoon for lunch with husband and kids. Food was good, only issue was they closed at 3pm on a Saturday afternoon which seems a little silly

Great three course lunch at a fixed price. Good food and plenty of it with very good service and smiles on every ones faces. The wine and beer are good too.

6 of us went for Sunday lunch was very good, only criticism was the knives weren't very sharp, perhaps a steak knife for the meat (particularly beef) would be good. Would definitely go again

This pub does not have an accessible toilet and it is not level access, despite the Google listing saying it does. There is also no baby changing table. Food and service were very good though!

Imagine going out for lunch, but there is no toilet! Thats what happened to our wheelchair user here. Website says accessible toilet but it doesn’t actually exist. Hmmm. Food OK.

Just had Christmas dinner here. It was delicious! The food, the staff, the service and the atmosphere was all fabulous! Especially the lad who wore the turkey hat the whole time. Brilliant!

Christmas Eve lunch with the family. Table ready on our arrival. Super Sunday lunch menu, beautiful food and lots of it, nicely served by friendly and attentive staff. Delightful village location, superb decor, spacious table layout. We will be returning without doubt.

A group of volunteers came here today for a Xmas lunch. The food was superb. I had feta cheese salad, roast turkey and cheese and biscuits. Service was efficient and friendly. The food was excellent. There was a good variety of vegetables that were perfectly cooked. The portions were generous. Lovely ambience. Very good value for money

Had not been here for a couple of years and eleven of us met up for a pre-Christmas family lunch. Sam was in the kitchen and we were looked after by a young enthusiastic team. Food was excellent as was the service, Nothing was too much trouble. We shall certainly return.

Went here tonight for their Christmas menu. The pub is clean and bright. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. I had the Turkey dinner, and it was worth it amazing. My friend had the beef dinner and he really enjoyed it. We will be back soon.

I visited The Moon and Sixpence in Hanwell with friends, for Sunday lunch. What a find!!! The pub is beautifully decorated, both inside and out, with Christmas decorations! Food wise, it was faultless! I had Prawn cocktail for starters, followed by the roast leg of Lamb with all the trimmings. To say the portions were generous, is an understatement! Although the desserts looked so inviting, there’s no way I could have managed one! It’s such a cosy pub and the staff were so attentive and friendly. A massive thanks to all the staff and chef’s alike and there’s no question…..we will be returning!

We had a wonderful meal choosing from the table d'hote menu which was great value. All starters and meals were beautifully presented and tasted fantastic. My husband had the steak, cooked beautifully and the tagliatelle was to die for. Exquisite! Wine was well chilled and as described.Coffee served with fudge a nice little touch as well Service was very good and the dining area is very tastefully decorated and comfortable and warm. We will definitely return as we had a lovely evening. Thank you to all the Staff.

Great service, spectacularly clean, the whole experience was a delight and would definitely recommend. Friendly staff and cleaners deserve a pay rise as there wasn't a spec of dirt in sight.

First time trying out the Sunday lunch. Dining area nicely decorated, although the chairs were a little on the snug side, even for my slim husband! The food was very nice overall, the only disappointment was the fact that for some reason, the new potatoes were fridge cold in the middle. Serving staff were friendly. There was a gentleman who I’m assuming was the Manager seemed to be very brusque with the staff and openly shouted at one of the staff when seating another couple at a table. Worth trying again.

Visited today (5th November 2023) I really can not fault the Sunday roast, food was amazing, the meat melted in your mouth, the vegetables was cooked to perfection. 5 star and above for the food. A massive well done to the Chefs. My only issue was the service, trying to get the attention of the staff was impossible they would just look at you with a vacant look and walk away, and ignore you when they eventually approached the table not one server smiled which Made us feel slightly uncomfortable. We was eventually given the desert menu to which we was waiting more than 20 minutes before we gave up tpaid our bill and left Such a shame as it really is a lovely place to visit.

Ambience and food good but … we had to wait ages for drinks , then staff being told off by who I assume is the manager in full voice and view of all customers. I can honestly say I have never experienced anything like it.

We had the sunday roast,it was good. My only criticism was, they put black pepper on the roast potatoes and vegetables. I personally don't like pepper. I wish they had told me when I ordered my food, I would of asked for no pepper.

First time visiting for family meal of six . Easy to find , lovely decor and ambiance. Lovely presentation of food and dessert , we ordered a mix from both menus between us , the food was lovely and hot and well presented . We were waited on by Abby M who represented the establishment well serving our drinks while we selected our choices and always checking if we needed anything else. We will definitely be coming back and will recommend to others as we all enjoyed our meals . Thank you 🙏🏼

We were visiting in Banbury when a neighbor recommended this pub. We had dinner here and we were delighted! We loved the atmosphere and the friendly service, and our dinners were excellent. We were impressed with the menu, which was created by award-winning chef Hylton Bradley, and the presentation of our food was exceptional. This pub is a hidden gem which deserves a visit!

Food seems out dated and the portions were not very generous. The man that showed us to our table was a bit off hand

As a family, we can not recommend the Moon and Sixpence enough - the food, the atmosphere, the staff - all amazing !! We have been dining here for many years and it has become a real family favourite for special occasions, so when my father in law passed away in June, the Moon and Sixpence seemed the perfect setting to host the wake. They couldn't have done more for us and made a very difficult day so much easier. All of our guests commented on the lovely buffet they prepared and how well looked after they were made to feel all afternoon. Without doubt, one of the best restaurants ( if not the best !!) in the Oxfordshire area. Highly recommend.

Fabulous food, great service and excellent value for money. The restaurant and the whole place is very well looked after, beautiful garden area too. The menu looks good, but the food delivered exceeded expectations, tasty, fresh and attractive. As a celebration of our anniversary, it was an absolute delight. Lovely people too, thank you for a super evening.

I had received various reports about the Moon and Sixpence and decided it might be the ideal location to take a friend for Sunday Lunch. Unfortunately, I can't make too many negative comments but I was just disappointed in the food. The service was very good, the staff were friendly but the food was just just tepid and very ordinary. Soggy roast potatoes are just not acceptable. Would I return: unlikely. Note to the proprietor: try to be a little less bumptious. It's not welcoming, appealing or friendly.

It was lovely we had a mid week two course meal! Value for money is great and the food was great maybe could have been a little bit bigger re the portions but tbh for what we paid you can’t complain!! The food was so well presented too

Group of 6. Welcomed by friendly staff and after initial drink taken to table. I thought the decor was very good but I am old school. We ordered various starters and mains. My starter of Duck & Orange parfait was excellent. I then had four hour blade of beef (fortunately I knew that a blade is a type of cut of beef, I'm not sure everyone will so perhaps an explanation on the menu). The presentation was excellent and the meat melted in the mouth. Everyone else seemed to have similar views on their choices. The chefs are very good. Prices are very fair for the quality.

If you want the best Sunday lunch in this area, Hyltons Moon and Sixpence is the place to go, the food is excellent, we had the roast beef with all the trimmings and it was all amazing, plenty of beef, great veg, cooked to perfection, roasties and Yorkshire pudding, super proper gravy and all piping hot, followed by home made apple pie and custard. Lovely atmosphere and attentive staff We all agreed its 5 star, thank you to all the team. We will be back.

This is my favourite pub, I am a local villager and frequent the pub at least 4 times a month. They are always very accommodating and the food is always to a very high standard compared to others in the area. The staff are always friendly and the service also top notch.
