Aug 2024: Thoroughly disappointing, so much so, we chose a different venue nearby. Having arranged to meet three friends at Foodies; I arrived early, I was going to use the time to visit the washroom. Explaining to the proprietor; I was made to feel like a liar and a cheat as I was told "if you're Not a customer you can't use it as it increases my water bill". Having had every intention to be a customer, including my three friends; I decided to wait for my friends outside and take our custom elsewhere. Thereafter, on route passing Foodies, I spoke to the proprietor saying: "I hope you did not wait for us as we went elsewhere and also hope that you saved a significant amount of water". O* would not have made it possible to review. I am giving it the well deserved O*. Old news...... Very, extremely variable - never quite know what mood they are in. It's meant to be a constructive comment. Coffee often very weak, toast over- or under-done quality of bread too variable. I go there regularly, inspite of it, and "offer" my observations for improvement as it is potentially a good café. However, my patience isn't infinite so time will tell. I gave the score for others to go and make up their own mind.

Disappointing. Although we ate in, food is brought wrapped in serviettes with no cutlery. I had a scone with butter and jam which did not taste fresh or home made, and i didn't enjoy it. My husband had a toasted teacake which was okay but nothing special. The coffee tasted weak. Not as good as other local cafes we have been to. Also, it was very overpriced for what we had. Would not go back.

Awful Attended at lunchtime. “Are you eating in or out?” Asks the server. “In” says we and are told to take a seat…food will be brought to us. My wife asks to use the toilet and is told “we don’t have one as we have plumbing issues “….she is directed to go to the church and ask to use theirs. Church is open but unattended and toilets are locked. She duly reports this to staff and is the directed to go and ask staff at a hotel some distance up the street if she can use theirs? In further conversation the staff reveal they have no toilet or running water for their own use either. This is a food establishment serving a variety of meals with a lot of tables. When challenged as to why they have no facilities another member of staff became very rude stating she does not have to provide them. Looking at other reviews they have had plumbing issues for months. Seriously time for someone from Environmental Health to take a look at what this place is doing!

For many years I've been using this very conveniently situated cafe for an afternoon stop while travelling around Oxfordshire. Now I find that the wee woke girls who have 'taken over' this cafe have put the toilets out-of-bounds to cafe customers. They tried to tell me that that they don't have toilets, but swiftly backtracked when I told them I know they do! But still wouldn't permit their use. So I'll need to find another convenient stop in Oxon for tea and pee!

We popped into this coffee shop/takeaway at lunchtime in the week. Initial signage a little confusing but when we got in ok. I would say it is more a takeaway than a coffee shop as there were only 3 small tables inside that seat two and a few more outside. We sat inside and it is a beautiful room with a lovely big bright window to the front. Everything is served in disposable cups and bags. The baguette choice was huge and my husband said the beef one he chose was delicious as was the coffee. I had the butternut squash soup which also was delicious. I thought it was a cute and cosy place but I can imagine it would feel cramped if all three tables were sat at.

In the heart of the Cotswolds this cafe looks expensive but cost is acceptable. There was only 1 inside table and a limited menu of sandwiches from the fridge as they were not serving from the advertised list. Even so the bacon and cheese croissant was very good indeed. Stopped for a quick lunch break on a very long car journey. There was nothing available for a non-meat eater except vegetarian sausage rolls (loads of paninis with ham/salami etc left in the cabinet) - apparently they had been very busy and they had absolutely nothing left. There was no labelling on the packaging of the sausage rolls (it was a homemade product) , either to indicate how much it was or what its ingredients were. The person who served me was unable to provide any further details, other than "it's got sage in it". My personal opinion is that is not good enough and may present issues for anyone with a food allergy. Two of these rolls, which were greasy and just tasted of stuffing, and two very ordinary hot drinks (all in takeaway packaging - there is nowhere to sit indoors and it was freezing outside) came to quite a bit more than I was expecting to pay, but as I mentioned before, we were desperate - beggars can't be choosers. Would not recommend, either for the quality/price of goods, or for the service provided.

Staff make you feel very unwelcome. Visited this place twice now and both times I can only describe the welcome as hostile. The first time I thought they might be just having a bad day and were a little stressed as it was busy. However, the second time it was quiet and they still treated you like your presence into their cafe was a surprise (and an unwelcome one at that). I will only go back if my friends take me out insist but I could not recommend it to anyone. Apart from the setting the is little to recommend. The tea/coffee is acceptable: no better than anywhere else. The price is not overly expensive but certainly not cheap and when it's served to you with a side helping of bad attitude it's certainly not valid for money. There are far better places to visit and give your custom to and I would highly recommend doing so. I believe there are better places in this village to take refreshments but even if not I would recommend to keep going to the next village. I usually only write good reviews and an a huge advocate of supporting local independent business. However I don't think bad reviews or lack of custom will affect this business and it's owner as it gives the impression this is a hobby for them and therefore that could explain the lack luster experience and the feeling your are intruding into a private setting as opposed to someone pleased to welcome and serve their customers.

I really don't like leaving poor reviews. However, I stumbled across Foodies during lockdown and thought, 'Great! A place to get a decent... proper coffee'. If you ask for a Latte, Flat White, Cappuccino etc. you will get the same product. A scolding hot milky broth with just a hint of coffee thrown in. If you was good food delivered with a smile don't come here. I was astounded by how hostile a reception I got when ordering 5 sandwiches to take away. You'd think I'd been demanding last minute catering for 1000. It's not as if there was a queue either. There were 3 groups at the tables outside who had already been served & no one queuing in front or behind us. We were told we could wait outside for our order to be prepared & did so sitting on some of the most uncomfortable chairs that man has ever produced. Obviously the staff are not required to have good manners either as, in my experience, normal interaction between a customer & staff usually involves the use of the words 'please' & 'thank you'. In this case it seems they only existed in the customer's vocabulary! Neither I nor the other people who I was buying the sandwiches for will be venturing into Foodies again. There is a great place just round the corner called Eagles which had lovely bread & baps & things to make up your own sandwiches. I recommend going there instead as they were very friendly & polite.

My friends and I regularly visit foodies and usually the customer service is excellent however, my friend and I went in today and were greeted appallingly by the manager. The manager had no manners, was abrupt and rude to us for no reason whatsoever and then stated she ‘only had what was on show to serve’ and if we didn’t want it then to leave as she shuts in 30 minutes. Won’t go again purely out of spite to this lady - how she runs a business with those people skills is beyond me therefore I am leaving a one star review as there is never any need to speak to anyone the way she spoke to us.

Quaint suits it to a T and although small(seats about 12 max) it is well worth a visit albeit for breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea. The coffees and selection of teas are good and the food is imaginative and tasty.Always warm and snug so take time to check out the various products available for sale - jams, lavender marmalade, sweets, pops etc.Now fully licensed so enjoy a glass of bubbly or wine. The Market Square offers free parking and there is limited outside seating for the less inclement weather. Ideal to watch the hustle and bustle of village life and meet the locals. Walk off your meal with a stroll around the village, you will be surprised what you find.

We thought Foodies would be a nice place for a quick lunch and it was very disappointing. Firstly when we came in we had to find a waiter to ask where and how we should order / sit. We ordered two sandwiches and a sausage roll and a couple of drinks which came in good time. The sausage roll was in my eyes, inedible. I’m not sure if it was supposed to be meat but it looked horrible, and it was wrapped up in uncooked pastry. We didn’t even have a bite. The Caesar chicken sandwich that my husband ordered was just chicken with mayo. No lettuce or anything else you might think of with a Caesar sandwich. There was also a wasp that sat at the window next to our table the whole time. When I asked if we could open the window to let it out they said it’s too heavy to open but I was invited to kill the wasp with my napkin if I wanted... Will not be recommending to friends!

We have been before for excellent coffee. We were not disappointed this time either. We received a warm welcome in a busy parlour on market day. Service was courteous and reasonably quick. Thank you!

Called in today 22/08 at 16:32. as I went to walk in I was abruptly told that they were closed. I mentioned that a few weeks before they were open till 17:00 (no times of trading on the door). I was then told "well we are all sorted so we're closing now to get away". WOW!, this is how a small coffee outlet runs, not to when there is a call for it by the customers but more about when the staff feel they want to close. I've said it before and I stand by it. Deddington needs a coffee shop that wants to have customers and is not run like a hobby or inconvenience. Have called here a few times and normally the services ok, but this time i had to wait nearly 10 minutes to be served while members of staff walked back and forth past me saying sorry and I'll be there in a moment. Had to ask the member if staff who served me again for something that was missing from the order but yet again trying to gain her attention was tiring and by the time it did arrive I'd long finished my drink. Not sure if I'll call again. I think Deddington needs another coffee shop to make Foodies less complacent and more customer focused.

Having frequented this charming restaurant a number of times, I feel genuinely able to highly recommend continued visits. You will be served with delicious freshly cooked food from local suppliers, along with a good selection of beverages, including full flavoured coffees. It is located in the charming village of Deddington which is an affluent area, however the price list has been set offering excellent value for money and displaying respect for all clientele’s budgets. The restaurant is clean, with a country cottage atmosphere and staff who are attentive and respectful. The owner Sam, is seen supporting staff by serving customers and engaging in a level of conversation with the clientele, without intrusion and her passion for her establishment if evident. As a customer you are not rushed in any way and could easily while away a few sociable hours. They also serve tables which are set outside to the front of the restaurant, where you can watch the friendly village folk pass by around the market place. During my visit today, I also understand that there is a garden to the rear and if this is not enough, they also have a Deli, so no excuse not to take home some of their delicious offerings. I cannot speak highly enough of this fabulous little place in the country.

Friendly well run pub, nice vibe, nice size (not small but cozy atmosphere) and seemed very clean when we visited. Free parking (for customers) with an easy to navigate car park and car registration system. Good menu with all the pub classics plus Gluten free options available. Pretty good value. Would recommend.

Great Indian and classic British pub classics with fresh seasonal ingredients, so delicious and a wonderful choice, but not too much! A minor issue with one dish was not only quickly resolved but the staff went over and above to rectic, thank you.

I ordered a burger for my son who can’t eat tomato’s and we asked to take out the lettuce And add cheese they came with a burger 30 minutes after I ordered it and they came with a burger with tomatoes lettuce and no cheese so I tell them I wanted it without the lettuce and tomatoes and the cheese they bring over a burger with nothing but a patty and bun and I ask them for cheese and then they disappear for about 10 minutes and so I go up to ask where my food was and they said they never had that order so I had to order it again and pay again it eventually came fries where nice wouldn’t come again nor recommend

Firstly service is fantastic. Really attentive and polite. We ordered the set menu so had a good sized platter of starters. I did find the satay sauce not very peanut-y. Prawn toast was really nice as I’m not usually keen on that. We then were brought out massive amounts of dishes. We are good eaters but we did leave a fair bit. The servings are generous and I can’t remember all the dish names but we had a Thai green curry, beef dish, prawn dish, noodle & beansprout dish and jasmine rice. Extremely good value for what we had and drinks were good too.
