Lovely room - a little tired but nice nevertheless. Furnishings were lovely. There was a fridge, hairdryer, body wash, shampoo, hand wash and body lotion. Kettle with plenty of coffee, tea etc. friendly staff. Breakfast a little disappointing - croissants, overnight oats and fruit salad. The bar was lovely and welcoming - a nice ambience. We would stay again. Very close to other bars, restaurants and shops.

Friendly well run pub, nice vibe, nice size (not small but cozy atmosphere) and seemed very clean when we visited. Free parking (for customers) with an easy to navigate car park and car registration system. Good menu with all the pub classics plus Gluten free options available. Pretty good value. Would recommend.

Went to The Plough with 50 family and friends for a day after wedding ceremony lunch time party. The atmosphere was amazing, the staff were very efficient and attentive with the chef Jamie preparing a buffet of butter chicken rolls, fish finger rolls, beef burgers, roast beef yorkshire pudding wrap with gravy and plenty of delicious chips! followed by a selection of beautiful desserts. I recommend you visit this pub in the heart of Bicester and you will not be disappointed.

Awesome Sunday lunch & the homemade desserts were just fab, I had the peach cheese cake. Not just served as a slice on a plate! but in a glass with a nutty crumble , charred peaches absolutley lush 😋 cant wait to go back. Also we were a table of 13 & all meals & sides came out promptly together. Great service.

On face value this seems like a nice Oxfordshire pub. The rooms are reasonably well decorated and clean, and the place has the feel of a pub nestled in the Cotswolds. The problem is it doesn’t serve food on some nights of the week, or breakfast each day. There was no central heating, only an electric heater with all the instructions worn away and weekday breakfast consisted of just a croissant, jam and a bit of fruit. A bit of a let down for the price.

Myself, family and friends have visited numerous times since The Olive Tree Company took over and we have enjoyed our visit on every occasion. The owners and their team are great, friendly and always smartly dressed and you’re always given a warm welcome. The food is fabulous too. Having tried numerous dishes I can honestly say they are delicious. The new management have given The Plough a new lease of life. I look forward to my next visit,

Fantastic pub in Bicester, I come here regularly, and the food as service is always top notch. It's got the feel of a traditional pub (which is very hard to find in this day and age) with an extra edge. They have a huge selection of beers, wine and tasty cocktails - I would recommend the espresso martini. We threw my Mum's birthday party here and the team went above and beyond to make everything perfect. They now do regular hog roasts and live music days which is always a blast. Conveniently located on the outskirts of town and there is parking.

We stayed at The Plough in Bicester for two nights while attending a family wedding in a venue nearby. We had a warm welcome. It is pub with 6 rooms. The double bedded room with en-suite bathroom was very comfortable with tea and coffee making facilities, small fridge and hairdryer. It has a small parking area behind the hotel that is free to hotel guests once your car is registered with reception. The breakfast was varied and well presented. Very friendly and helpful staff. Thank you

The staff when seen were lovely. The location good. The stay awful.. Noisy till 1 am with screaming and shouting from an event which we were not told about. The breakfast awful.. No cereal no extra coffee.. No normal toast.. The picnic breakfast awful was left at wrong door over night in 20+degree heat. When looking for someone to complain to no members of staff on site over night. Room dated with damp see pictures. It's a shame the rooms are dated as downstairs is lovely. Emailed owners with complaint but 3 days later still no response. Disgusting.

A last minute visit decision after getting the X5 back from oxford to Bicester found a very pleasant interlude. We stopped off at the Plough on the way home from a very long and tiring day out in Oxford. We were very hungry, but didn’t want a full meal. It was a lovely evening hence we sat outside. The Plough has a very nice garden, lovely with its beautiful olive tree and other herbs tastefully planted in milk churns. We ordered some light bites whilst ordering our drinks inside before finding seats outside. We didn’t realise there was a pizza oven outside and lovely pizzas being made to order, so we just had to order one to share before our small plates came out. The pizza was delicious and eased off the hunger pangs. We’d ordered some olives with a selection of gorgeous breads, olive oil and balsamic vinegar, also a baked Camembert and chutney. It was super lovely sat in the garden with excellent food, wine and beer and we really enjoyed the atmosphere. The only downside I would say was when we ordered a taxi for home. The taxi couldn’t drive into the carpark to pick us up. We had to go out onto the main road which didn’t make sense. The driver explained they weren’t allowed to drive into the carpark, because there was a charge. The simple answer to us would be to collaborate with the local taxi firms and take their registration numbers and let them drive in and out. That way a much better customer service experience for the Plough guest I would have thought and safer.

Shirt version: Avoid. Long version: Dropped in for dinner with my partner, our two boys (2 & 4) and my parents. The first round of drinks came incomplete (my beer was missing). This went unnoticed by the waitress. Then we ordered food and two whiskys. Then I asked the waitress about my beer (after 20 minutes). And now I got it. Then she came back to ask again what whiskys we ordered 5 minutes ago. Now arrive the whiskys. As you can see, this was already a pretty sketchy start. Now the hammer part: Another 30-40 minutes pass without any deliveries. The waitress passes us by a few times. Then I ask one of her colleagues about our food, who furrows his brow and goes into the kitchen. A few minutes pass and I spot him leaving the kitchen and hurriedly going behind the counter. I follow him already agitated about the situation and inquire: he tells me, that regretfully the kitchen has closed without our orders being processed. (The waitress did not forward our order) He is apologetic and offers us to open up the kitchen to prepare the meals, and a refund for the drinks we had. At this point my boys are completely tired and hungry, out of control. We leave hungry and disappointed. Credit goes to this waiter as he recognises how serious of an issue this is in a restaurant and promises that next time when we visit we "will be looked after". Thanks, but we were on a south England tour and it is unlikely that there will be a next time. Later on in the evening I am told by a member of our party that they caught a glimpse of the waitress in the kitchen next to the food being prepared: she was picking off nibs off other people's orders. A seemingly nice place ruined by an absolutely unprofessional staff member.

Really sweet little inn. Quite quirky and really lovely. Perfect for a quick one-night stay, especially when you’re travelling for business and need a good value accommodation, but don’t want to spend a night at your bog-standard Premier Inn. The rooms are clean and lovely and the pub itself is located quite close to all local amenities and a stone’s throw to Bicester town centre. You would be forgiven to think that as an inn you will hear a lot from the downstairs pub, but that’s absolutely not the case. It’s very well soundproofed. Would return.

I stayed here last night, as soon as i walked in a woman with dark hair who was wearing a plough apron , so was clearly a staff member bumped into me and didn’t even apologise.I ignored this as i thought it would be a one off, i checked in, went to my room and all i could smell was sewage. It was revolting and made me feel so ill, again, i ignored it and went on with my evening. At tea time i went downstairs to get food, i ordered a burger and fries, the fries were stale and had a hair in them and the burger was burnt and was tasteless. I was so disappointed, i went upstairs to bed , pulled back the duvet on my bed and there was a yellow stain on it. Will never be staying here again, disgusting environment and rude workers, keep your distance.

Stayed over night. Checked in and greeted in our room to a lovely surprise of complimentary bubbles for my birthday. Unfortunately that’s where the good times stopped. When we asked when breakfast was we were told no chef on Wednesday, so no food Monday Tuesday or Wednesday!! As we asked if we could eat dinner firstly. Our breakfast was left on the floor outside our room. A stale croissant and half a chopped orange each. Not what we’d paid for. In the night around 2 am the room next door came crashing in and were in out in out all night!!! The smell was bad so they were not the typical hotel guests !!!!! Tried to give out key back to no one being there to take it. Couldn’t complain in the night about the noise as no one in the hotel over night plus no one in the morning. Did complain through hotels.com when home who rang them and they refused to give any money back. All in all please avoid as I wouldn’t want anyone to go through a night of hell and have to pay for the privilege. Owner needs to not charge for breakfast at lease if not provided!!!! Down right robbery

On arrival we could smell cannabis and urine. The room itself was so cold, grubby carpets, and generally dirty. I sat on the bed which wasn’t steady and made so much noise creaking. I was not very well at the time, and we soon realised that we could not sleep comfortably the night, the bed was not fit for purpose! After less than 5 minutes of entering the property I politely asked for a refund and left the premises. The manager was intimidating, and very arrogant. He informed me he didn’t have our money that booking.com would refund us. On checking with booking.com they agreed to refund providing the manager would agree and they would need to ring for confirmation. I sat waiting for a call back in the car unwell, however when they rang him for confirmation he refused the refund. We could easily have booked the travelodge for £30 instead we paid the extra money to have what we thought somewhere nicer more comfortable and cosier. This definitely was not. The fact we also booked on the same day and arrived within an hour of booking as a gesture the manager could have agreed to the refund and so should booking.com. Poor service all round

This pub could be great if the younger staff learned how to talk to customers and tend to their needs as per the job of waiting staff. They sat around talking to each other and watching people which made us feel uncomfortable, left dirty plates, didn't ask about drinks, messed up the final bill, were seen picking up food with their hands.(We sat opposite the serving hatch) I was amazed that one said 'pass that plate' leaning over me at the table gesturing at the person opposite. No please or thank you. The man who was on the carvery was run ragged trying to manage them and do their job whilst trying to do his own. He was very jolly and helpful and quite frustrated! The service was slow and poor but food ok once it arrived. It's a shame as we enjoyed it the previous year for another family meet up.

Christmas party time woohoo…..or so we thought. Evening started off not great with our table not yet ready due to the previous party running over. Booking was for 7pm. We eventually sat down around 7.30, we asked for a complimentary drink because of the wait and it was a point blank NO. I quote the manager(Sean) say “let the food do the talking” very confident there!!! ….starters eventually served at 8pm majority of us ordered the Camembert which was listed to come with bread and cranberry sauce, when it was presented to us we saw bread STICKS on the plate - so one of us questioned that and referenced the Christmas menu to be told “menus changed its breadsticks and should have always said breadsticks” her manner was quite stand off-ish and rude. We asked for bread - no bread - yet the soup came with bread 🤔. One plate had an added extra…..a HAIR!!!!! No staff around to make them aware of it and we were hungry so ate a bit of the cheese and bread sticks. Eventually someone came over asked how everything was and we made them aware of the hair….she went off and back Sean came….I quote “what’s the problem…” we explained “let me see……well it’s not mine!!” Yes Sean clearly it’s not yours YOU HAVE NO HAIR ON YOUR HEAD!!! he was very defensive, stand off-ish and just wouldn’t listen or allow any of us to speak. Plates cleared and 2 random bottles of presecco arrived on the table, glasses heavily handed placed on to the table by the waitress. Mains came out….half had turkey half had lamb….parsnips raw…..turkey dry….luke warm…..roast potatoes covered in pepper. By this point there was a horrible atmosphere in the air and I didn’t actually want to eat my food - by this point I felt like my night was ruined. Another party had a similar experience and walked out due to the lack of service and attitude from staff. Pudding…..let’s try and end on a high…..chocolate delice (not a clue what it was but had been looking forward to it) waitress came out and shouted “millionaires shortbread” we looked at each other and the order form - no shortbread on there….I looked at the original menu no millionaire shortbread on there either, so we mentioned that and was abruptly told “we don’t have chocolate delice….this is in its place” AMAZING…..we asked for the manager. Sean came over and again abruptly told us there was a supplier issue and they didn’t know about it until today blah blah blah…..we pointed out that they could have called us…..you could have told us on arrival….there might be someone allergic to an ingredient in the replacement desert….he didn’t really care. Claimed that his earlier reaction to the hair on the starter was a JOKE!!!! A joke Sean….nothing funny about a hair on someone’s plate and stating the obvious that it wasn’t yours!!! We asked for money off the final bill and was offered to be charged for the 2 course meal instead of the 3 course (we already decided we weren’t eating the puddings) £3 difference per person…..that’s it…..I think we can do better than that Sean….so I asked him…..got me no where - he didn’t listen, he didn’t care. We paid and couldn’t get out of there quick enough!! I’ll never go back to the plough, I’ll never recommend it to anyone which is a shame as that place has always been special to me on a personal level. Georgia the manager previous was amazing, attentive, kind and understanding since she has left the place has gone down hill. Thanks for ruining our works Christmas party an event we were all looking forward to!!!!

Absolute train wreck coming here! This was pre-booked as a work Christmas dinner. Food choices were confirmed a few days prior to arriving. I will start with the positives: The lamb was bloody delicious and one member of staff (A lady with long dark hair and glasses was amazing. Her customer service was impeccable) Now, the negatives. *The on duty manager was beyond rude. Even staff members were telling him he shouldn’t be speaking to customers the way he was. * A starter had a bonus free hair included with it, yet there was responsibility taken or apology. *Bar staff weren’t listening correctly to drink orders. * The turkey was dry and looked like the pre cooked slice turkey you buy in Tesco. *The toilet rolls were on upside down (this is a bit of a personal big bear of mine, and yes I changed them to the correct way) *Main meals weren’t brought out together. Half the table had theirs 10mins before everyone else. *Veg massively undercooked and inedible. *Desserts completely different from what was pre-ordered, no mention of this when we arrived and no regard to any potential food allergies with the change. *The starters were also not what was pre-ordered. Another problem that was our fault and not the pubs. We were not the only table to leave as it was a complete shambles.

We pre booked a set menu for Christmas back in September, we called beginning of the week before we were due to go to confirm the food orders. All was good. Arrived for our table at 7 only to be told there was another party still there and we would have to wait. No apology. The other party left the table at 7.20, it was then cleaned and we sat down around 7.30 No crackers or water.asked if we could have a complimentary drink and was told no, Starter arrived around 8 - the menu had apparently changed and we were not informed despite having to pre book food. There was a hair on the plate, when we complained we were told quite rudely by the manager ‘well it’s certainly not mine’ apparently this was meant to be a joke but that was not how it came to the whole table!! The manager then disappeared again no apology, nothing! Two random bottles of Prosecco arrived Mains arrived vegetables were hard and some almost inedible, no sauce, no stuffing, potatoes covered in pepper which if you like pepper wouldn’t have been an issue. The serving staff (not all) were very rude and abrupt - shocking customer service from a pub, especially one that was so good last time! Desserts came - complete different food to what had been ordered - we couldn’t eat the it, apparently there were supply issues but we weren’t told this on arrival, It was a very disappointing evening, we have had work meals at the plough before but tonight was disappointing on every level, the manager was beyond rude and if that’s how you chose to run your business then good luck! We weren’t the only table to walk out tonight!

Booked 3 rooms for my bridal party in July. The rooms were unique and quite quirky which we loved but could do with a bit of TLC. The wooden door in the downstairs room had warped so jammed close and took a long while to open to get our stuff out. The handle on the shower door was also hanging off. The upstairs rooms were very hot and only one had a plug in fan that was very small. When asking a member of staff if there were any fans, my friend was told ‘I start at 6 I’ll look then’. We never got the fan. The staff were generally friendly and attentive apart from that and let us use some champagne flutes from the bar in the room while getting ready. They said these would be cleared away during the day and the room freshened but unfortunately they were still there when we returned after the wedding. This was a bit disappointing as it was our wedding night. The chef was playing loud music from 7am and as our room was ground floor, this woke us up. The rooms could be really nice with just a bit of a freshen up and addition of fans on the summer months. Would probably recommend for a one night stay but not for a special occasion like a wedding or party.

Absolutely brilliant place. It's family run and a very welcoming and friendly place. Our room is beautifully presented, in keeping with the age of the building and there's lots of attention to detail; for example the full bale of generous towels for tow on the bed and a great selection of teas in the room. A wee gem

This delightful little boozer, located plumb-centre between Bicester North station and the town centre (making it ideal for a tipple on the way into town) is everything you'd expect from an old, North Oxfordshire pub with an up-market feel: plenty of ales on tap, chatty staff and locals, and a lovely little beer garden for whiling away the summer hours. Cheers!

I booked a room as part of a birthday present for my partner (I wanted to stay closer to Silverstone for the British GP rather than driving over an hour each day from home) and was left extremely disappointed. The room was by far the filthiest I’ve ever stayed in. In truth, I’ve stayed in cleaner hostels across Europe. The carpet hadn’t been hoovered, let alone cleaned. Even at first glance it looked dirty, and then I found a contact lens on the floor, amongst other bits of dirt. I put the contact lens in the bin that also had no bin bag in it. In the bathroom, there is no toilet brush. The shower screen is caked in limescale and clearly hasn’t been cleaned in a very long time, if at all. The corners of the shower, the grout and the sealant were mouldy. The paint on the ceiling is flaking off and is in disrepair. The extractor fan is caked in thick dust. Then there’s the bathroom door! The back of which is painted white but is now brown with dirty, greasy hands having been all over it and never wiped down or repainted. The fan in the room has no guard. While it’s unlikely someone would put their hand into it, I do worry about an errant towel or long hair when exiting the bathroom. Or, a child losing a finger or two when they get curious. The tea/coffee holder hadn’t been cleaned, the bedside light flickers until you tap the bulb a few times. It does the same when you move the power block - loose connection? I cannot comprehend how they think it’s acceptable to offer a room in this kind of condition. It’s nothing to do with the building being old, it’s just cleanliness. Their staff aren’t cleaning it and necessary repairs aren’t being made either. Frankly, I would be embarrassed to show someone to this room and at £105 for a single night, they’re charging more than many Premier Inns, which most people class as low-end. Yet, they’re clean at the very least. They completely failed at all the basics and this has been noted in reviews over the past months and years now that I’ve looked deeper. Even with countless people (almost all of them) writing similar things to me, they haven’t actioned anything! It’s shameful. If you’d like a single positive, I will say that the staff at check-in and at the bar were friendly and polite. I contacted the property via the booking platform and via email and had absolutely no response in 8 days. Once they did finally respond, they took no responsibility for the issues and made no apology; only excuses.

I was looking for a venue for my husband’s 50th, just somewhere I could reserve an area rather than book the whole place. So glad we used this pub. As the weather was good, we were allocated the ‘barn’ outside, Ella was more than happy to accommodate my demands! She and her colleagues put up all the balloons (over 70 of them!), stored the ‘cake’ (aka giant pork pie), and generally looked after us all so well. And even cleaned up after us and stored presents until the morning. Nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommend.

Excellent place: went for a meal, rather than staying at the hotel. Met up here with friends, recently. We all had a very tasty burger, although other decent things were on the menu. I had a couple of pints of Old Speckled Hen. Was interested in another Ale, so they let me have a taster. No issues with parking (we all came in our cars) - parking in the pub car park. Friendly service, decent food, and a relaxing environment.

Great Indian and classic British pub classics with fresh seasonal ingredients, so delicious and a wonderful choice, but not too much! A minor issue with one dish was not only quickly resolved but the staff went over and above to rectic, thank you.

Another reviewer wrote that the coffee was amazing. It’s not. It’s one of the worst coffees I’ve had the misfortune in drinking. Should have guessed from the name that this place was not going to be great. Food wasn’t great either. Service through a weird little hatch where the staff saw me waiting, ignored me. They served some food to one of the tables. Still ignored me. Only had to say to “hi, we’ll be with you in a minute” but no, can’t even be bothered to say that. First and last time going in.

Firstly service is fantastic. Really attentive and polite. We ordered the set menu so had a good sized platter of starters. I did find the satay sauce not very peanut-y. Prawn toast was really nice as I’m not usually keen on that. We then were brought out massive amounts of dishes. We are good eaters but we did leave a fair bit. The servings are generous and I can’t remember all the dish names but we had a Thai green curry, beef dish, prawn dish, noodle & beansprout dish and jasmine rice. Extremely good value for what we had and drinks were good too.

Lovely food and a good selection. My flatbread was nice but could have been hotter in temperature. Maybe I should have paid more attention to the "served warm" on the menu. Sunday night they had a live entertainment too.
